Madison walked outside into the darkness and slowly allowed her tears to spill down her face; the other rangers were in the headquarters to discuss how to bring Vida back. How could she have missed the changes in Vida? They had been in front of her all along.
Just three months ago life had been so normal, they had been working together at the Rock Phorium, and they had their friends Chip and Xander. Then one small earthquake had changed everything. Madison had always prided herself on being able to tell exactly what Vida was feeling. But this time she couldn't get a vibe.

"Vida where are you?" And began to sob not caring how loud she was, just then she jumped as someone put a hand on her shoulder, she turned to see Nick.
"It'll be okay Maddy." His eyes held compassion and she leaned against him sobbing. He led her to a swing set like bench and sat them both down. "I can't lose her Nick."
"You won't" His voice held the steel of determination and anger; she knew it was because of what had been done to Vida."
"I should have gone with her that night Nick." Her tears were slowly drying but her voice was still full of sadness. "I could've stopped it."
Nick shook his head and the moon enhanced the fierce look in his dark eyes, "You don't know that Maddy, you could've wound up a vampire too. There are only two people to blame and that's Necrolai and Koragg."
"Madison sat up; "We'll get her back."
"That's right." Nick smiled back after Maddy graced him with one, he had never been an emotional guy but Maddy made him feel all sorts of things. Just then she leaned in and gave him as kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you Nick" She whispered.
He longed to return the kiss but knew the only reason she had done it was out of friendship, now wasn't the time to give her the wrong idea. Then he thought briefly of that Ben guy. "You're welcome Maddy."

Just then Xander came out, "Chip got an idea to use the xentrome maybe it can help us."
Nick and Madison both stood up and followed Xander inside the Root Core, when they had Vida back he could do all the thinking he wanted but for now he had to focus on saving not just Vida but the world as well.
