Chapter 3: Not So Smart. (1/3).
Everything has been strange since Halloween. Mostly because the revelation that Maxwell Peverell single handedly defeated a Mountain Troll, spread throughout the school like wildlife. Causing everyone to repeatedly ask Max how he did. He tried to answer them truthfully that he just used a Disarming Charm and a Levitation Charm to defeat it, but sadly, his explanation ended up falling on deaf ears, as much more exaggerated and over-the-top versions of the story started to emerge throughout the school.
Sadly, Max couldn't even deny them. Because his friends, mainly Draco and Ron, keep pushing the bizarre versions of the story around simply because they sound more exciting. He knows that Draco was doing that to annoy him and Ron was doing it... For reasons that are still a mystery to Max.
In the end, Max decided to ignore it and just allow it to happen.
But one positive thing came out of this whole ordeal, which was his newly formed friendship with Hermione Granger. The two have been very close since their conversation inside the bathroom, with several long and somewhat complex discussions about several magical subjects. It actually fascinated him how passionate she was when speaking about those topics with him. Which made Maxwell look forward to their conversations.
"When will you let me help you with the box?" Currently, Maxwell was sitting on a bench with Daphne.
"When I run out of ideas." She bluntly replied without even bothering to look at him.
Apparently, Daphne has been trying several different methods to get pass the protective spell that was on the box that Maxwell found. But she sadly had no luck so far.
"Okay... I'll respect your wish, but you know that the box would have been open already if you just let me help you." Max stated to his friend.
Daphne just stared at him with her usual expressionless face. Before she stood up and extended her hand for Maxwell to take it. Which he did. The two blonds then walked down the corridors where Maxwell was basically just accompanying her to the Slytherin Common Room. "Did you at least find out anything about the family that the symbol belongs to?" Maxwell asked her in curiosity.
Daphne paused for a bit, until she answered his question. "Yes... I did ." She replied stoically.
"And?" Maxwell asked.
"It turns out, you're actually related to them." Daphne revealed it to him, but Maxwell wasn't surprised.
"Ummm... Daphne... Every single Pure-Blood family is somehow related to one another." Maxwell pointed out the obvious. Him and Daphne are actually very distant cousins.
"Yes, but you're directly related to them." Daphne told him as the two walked slowly. "It belongs to your grandmother's family."
That actually caused a reaction from the Peverell boy. "My grandmother?" Now that he thinks of it, he doesn't know anything at all about his grandmother's family. Which is pretty strange since he knows almost everything about the woman that he was named after.
"Yes, you s-" Before Daphne could explain further, someone interrupted her.
"Hey!" Suddenly, they heard someone calling out for them from behind. Maxwell immediately recognized the person. Blaise Zabini, a tall, black boy with high cheekbones and long, slanting eyes.
Daphne immediately sighed at his presence. "What do you want, Zabini?" Her voice, which was usually monotone, really expressed the annoyance of his presence. Something that made Max a bit confused.
Blase looked at Maxwell with a bit of hostility. "You still haven't answered my question." He spoke bluntly to Daphne.
"No." She replied bluntly before she started to walk again with Maxwell following her as she was still holding his hand.
But the Slytherin followed behind the two of them. "What do you mean no?!" The tone of his voice sounded hostile.
"No, means, no." Daphne didn't even bother looking at him.
Until the boy grabbed Daphne's arm forcefully to make her and Maxwell stop walking. "Stop right there!" He stared at Daphne with an angry look. "Now you listen here yo-" The Pure-Blood was about to yell something at Daphne until Maxwell shoved him away from her.
"What the bloody hell do you think you're doing?!" Maxwell immediately yelled at him after the shove.
"Stay out of this Peverell!" Blaise immediately yelled in response before he shoved Maxwell as well.
"Make me!" Maxwell replied after shoving him again.
Unfortunately for the blond boy, Blaise decided to follow his advice and sucker punched Maxwell in the eye. But Maxwell retaliated immediately with a punch of his own before he tackled Blaise into the floor in rage. Daphne just folded her arms in response and stood there, watching the Gryffindor and the Slytherin as the two scrambled around on the floor trying to hit each other. Until Maxwell got on top of him and started to try to hit his face with punches that barely landed, but Blaise managed to grab Maxwell's hands and push the blond boy off of him. Both then proceeded to stand up and reach for their wands. Pointing at each other as soon as they were at their hands.
But, before any of them could do anything. Daphne decided to finally intervene and point her own wand at Blaise. "Two on one, wanna risk it?" She bluntly asked her Housemate.
Blaise, who had a cut on the side of his lip where Maxwell punch landed, looked at the two angrily. After a short stare down, Blaise finally did the smart thing and put his wand away. "This isn't over!" He yelled before turning away and leaving the two of them.
Max only had one question for his friend. "What-" He tried to ask, but was interrupted.
"Don't ask." She immediately spoke as she put her wand away and inspected his eye.
"Seriously?" He immediately looked at Daphne apprehensively as her secrecy was starting to annoy him.
"Seriously." She replied with her emotionless expression. "You definitely got a black eye." The Greengrass heiress stated the obvious.
After inspecting his black eye, Daphne had to go somewhere and left Maxwell with no answers about the box which apparently belonged to his grandmother's family or what exactly was the reason for Blaise Zapini to get so hostile towards her. The blond boy could only walk around as he had some free time before the Defence Against the Dark Arts class starts. Not that he was looking forward to it as there were three things that bothered him in that class.
First, Quirinus Quirrell was a pretty bad teacher. Not due to a lack of knowledge on the subject, but he stutters way too much and it's hard to follow his class like that. Which is a shame as he clearly has the skills and could be a great teacher if it wasn't for that.
Second, there was this strange pain that he feels on his scar every time he's in the class. The pain is bearable but unpleasant, and Maxwell simply cannot find an explanation to why it is occurring. He hasn't told anyone about it though, at least not until he figures it out what it is about.
Third and most important reason, Maxwell actually suspects that Quirrell was the one that let the troll inside the school. His reasons for suspecting that were came from the fact that Ronald and Draco told him that Quirrell was the one that informed everyone about the troll, which itself is already pretty strange since Maxwell knows that someone had to have allowed the troll to enter the school and another thing is that, there was just something about Quirrell that disturbed Maxwell for some reason and he knows that it isn't some type of personal bias or anything like that.
Another thing that disturbed him, is the fact that someone broke into The Gringotts Wizarding Bank and attempted to steal an object from Vault 713. Which he read in the Daily Prophet, something that he doesn't really do often since he actually prefers The Quibbler, which he and his grandfather read often. The problem is that Maxwell knows perfectly well what that object was. The vault actually belonged to Nicolas Flamel, the man that taught Maxwell the basics of Alchemy and an old friend of his grandfather. And if he's correct, the object that they were trying to grab there was The Philosopher's Stone.
"Max." Suddenly, he heard two familiar voices saying his name at the same time. Turning his gaze towards his left on the corridor that he was walking in, he noticed two friends of his.
"Hello Fred, hello George." It was Ronald's brothers, Fred and George Weasley.
"What happened to your eye?" George asked him.
"I got punched by a Slytherin." He decided to confess as the black eye got noticeable already.
"Just give us a name and we can deliver some retribution for you." Fred offered him.
Max opened his mouth to refuse the twins, but then he immediately changed his mind and decided to let the pair of twins have their fun. "Will it be exceptionally humiliating?" He asked them with an evil smirk.
"So much that he will need to change schools to escape the shame." The twins informed him at the same time while giving him a thumbs up.
"If that's the case..."
"Max, what happened?!" Hermione immediately asked him in concern
Once it was the time to go to the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, the Peverell heir immediately made his way to the classroom. But the moment he stepped inside the class, he was surrounded by his Housemates, who immediately asked him about the black eye. With Hermione being the first one to voice her concern.
For a second, he thought about lying, but then he decided to just get it over with."I got punched by a Slytherin." Unfortunately, that only made things much worse as several people started to question him who punched him.
"Wait what?!" Ron asked him as he approached.
"Who would do that?!" Neville asked afterwards.
"Is he here?!" Seamus Finnigan asked while pointing at some of the Slytherin students inside the classroom.
"Come on, we can help you get some payback." Dean Thomas suggested.
And more and more questions like this came from his Housemates. When did I get so popular? He would be lying if he didn't say that he got a considerable amount of attention after he started school, but after the troll incident, it just got worse. Now, several people want to hang out with or around him.
Soon enough, a couple more Slytherin students entered the classroom. With Draco among them, who took less than a second to note his best friend's black eye. "Where the bloody hell did you get that?" The Malfoy heir asked as soon as he got close to the Peverell heir.
Max was still unaware of what exactly is going on between Blaise and Daphne and he certainly didn't like the fact that they slept in the same common room. The blond boy then decided to do something. "What is going on between Daphne and Blaise Zabini?" He asked his white-blond haired friend.
"I don't know, he and Daphne were talking to each other the other day, he seemed to want something from her." Draco told his friend in confusion. Then he made a face like he realized something. "Did Zapini hit you?"
Everyone in Gryffindor and Slytherin started to mumble something that Maxwell didn't pay attention to as he was busy questioning Draco. "He laid his hands on Daphne, so I shoved him and he punched me in return." Maxwell told Draco, but everyone around them reacted to what he just said. "We ended up fighting for a bit and even drew our wands but Zapini was smart enough to not trade spells against two opponents."
"Wait a minute, you have to report that to a professor or something." Hermione decided to interject into the conversation.
"Do you know Daphne?" Maxwell asked her, although it wasn't really a question.
"Umm... I saw her a few times but what did-" Hermione tried to reply but was interrupted.
"It wasn't really a question, Daphne would never confirm that something like that happened." Maxwell decided to clarify. "She didn't even tell me why he was mad at her."
"Why not?" Hermione asked.
"Greengrass loves her secrets, Granger." Draco spoke, sounding a bit annoyed as he and Daphne were always at odds with one another and Maxwell was never certain why. "And you should stay out of business regarding Slytherins, Max." He advised his friend.
Maxwell just folded his arms in response and spoke. "Just warn Zapini that if he tries anything with Daphne, he'll be on the receiving end of my wrath." He requested his friend to deliver the message.
Draco just made an amused smile, though he was unsure if he found the whole "my wrath" thing funny or if he actually was hoping the Zapini was on the receiving end of it.
Whatever it was, their conversation came to an end as soon as Professor Quirrell entered the classroom. Which Maxwell noticed due to the pain on his chest, mainly his scar. Dammit... The bearable but unpleasant pain appeared once more as soon as the man wearing a purple turban entered the classroom. Everyone took their seats but Maxwell had someone touching his shoulder.
"Are you okay?" Ronald asked him in concern as he probably noticed Maxwell slightly trembling due to the pain.
"Umm..." Maxwell wondered if he should tell him, as he could actually help him figure out. "I'll... Tell you after class."
Ron seemed confused. "Okay."
"Are you serious?" Hermione spoke in surprise after hearing what Maxwell said.
After another below-average quality Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Maxwell decided to reveal some of his suspicions to Ron in order to get some insight or maybe some advice. They both went to the middle courtyard to talk privately, but unknowingly for the two, Hermione actually followed them, probably because she also noticed Maxwell's discomfort during class because of the pain and overheard their conversation.
"You know, it's a little rude to overhear people's conversations." Ron sarcastically told her once she showed herself.
"It's a little rude to not inform me that a certain incident that could have caused my demise was the doing of one of our professors." Hermione pointed out to Ron, which was true since she could have been killed if Maxwell wasn't there at that precise moment.
"Sorry," Maxwell immediately apologized to her. "I just wanted to have confirmation before making this type of accusation." The blond boy spoke before he sat down on the left side of a bench.
"But, why would he do such a thing anyway?" Hermione spoke before she sat beside him in the middle part.
Ronald then sat on the right side besides Hermione.
"My best theory, to create a distraction." That was all that he could come up with. "For what purpose it's the real question." He suddenly tried to scratch his eye, forgetting about the bruise he had for a second. "Ouch!"
Hermione immediately inspected his black eye. "I still think you should have talked to the Professor about this." She told him as she gently touched his black eye.
"I would probably end up in detention since I punched him too." Maxwell replied to her as he allowed her to touch his face.
"Seriously?" Ronald asked him in curiosity.
"Yes, right on the lip." Maxwell explained. "It even drew a bit of blood."
"That's barbaric." Hermione was quick to chastise him over that. "But seriously though, if Professor Quirrell was indeed the one that let the troll inside, we should inform someone about it."
"Inform who?" Ronald asked her in confusion.
"We could inform someone in the staff but like I said, we have no proof that it was actually him and I would rather not toss around baseless accusations until I have some proof." Maxwell explained to her.
Before any of them could say anything else. Someone called for them. "Hey..." Suddenly, Neville appears in front of them.
"Is there something wrong, Nev?" Maxwell asked his friend.
"Well..." He seemed embarrassed to say it, which Maxwell quickly figured out what was it.
"What was this time?" Maxwell immediately asked after sighing deeply.
Unfortunately, ever since Maxwell helped Neville find his toad on the train, his clumsy friend started to come to him every single time he loses something. And it was pretty often.
"Neville, you need to be more responsible with your things." Hermione was quick to lecture him as she was present on most of the times that Neville asked him.
Neville was clearly embarrassed by that. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay." Maxwell reassured him. "What did you lose this time?"
"Ummm..." Neville seemed to be trying to find the right words to explain. "I received a Remembrall from my grandmother..."
"Yes, I was there when you received it." Maxwell pointed out.
"Well... Pansy Parkinson..." Neville tried to say.
Maxwell only took a second to understand. "Parkinson stole it as payback for blowing that potion on her face." On their last Potion Class, Neville ended up causing a very unpleasant explosion that caught a few Slytherins. With Pansy Parkinson being the most prominent victim.
Neville was in visible shame but he continued. "She said that she hid it on the top of one of the towers." There was a high amount of shame on his voice.
With one last sigh, Maxwell Peverell stood up from the bench and raised his hand up. "Accio Skytear" With that a very unique looking broomstick appeared on Max's hand.
"Bloody hell!" It was Ron's instantaneous reaction once the Broomstick appeared. "Is that what I think it is?!" The red headed boy stood up from the bench to watch it closely.
The broomstick on Maxwell's hand had a very unique appearance. The seat and the handle had a vivid sky-blue color and was in the shape of a lighting bolt, the undetachable bipod was gilded in silver giving it a shiny look to it and the tail twigs were yellow with black spots, since it is supposedly made of Nundu hairs. "The Skytear, the legendary Broomstick of the Peverell family." Max pointed out the obvious. It was a century old personally designed broomstick that is fabled to be the fastest Broomstick in existence. "Grandfather said I could have it once I started school."
"Can I... Maybe fly on it, sometime?" He asked as he admired the legendary broomstick.
"Sure." Maxwell had no problem with it.
Sadly, Ron's enthusiasm was interrupted by Hermione. "Wait a minute, it's against the rules to fly without supervision." She immediately protested.
"Yes," The blond boy answered and decided to fly away before he received a barrage of counter arguments for his idea. "Wait for me."
"Max!" Hermione yelled as Maxwell flew away from them and into the sky.
"Woah!" Ron and Nev reacted the same as they saw the speed that Maxwell flew with the legendary broomstick.
Last one. After doing a quick inspection on each of the towers in the school, Maxwell only had one more to inspect, which was the Astronomy tower. Upon his arrival there, he made a quick search and found absolutely nothing. Well, this is the last tower and no sign of it. He thought as he looked around. "Pansy was probably lying to Nev." He spoke out loud as he watched the school from above. Only to actually catch a glimpse of a group of Slytherin's talking to one another at the Paved Courtyard. Long shot but...
The Peverell heir decided to approach the group of Slytherins by flying down there at great speed. Upon his descent, the group noticed his presence and let out a bunch of comments about his broomstick, but Maxwell only cared about the fact that Pansy was there.
With all the random Slytherin staring at him, Max got off his broomstick and approached Pansy. "Okay , where did you hide Neville's Remembrall?" He bluntly asked the girl.
Maxwell only saw Pansy Parkinson on a few occasions, mostly accompanied by either Draco or Daphne. Pansy was a pretty girl with brown hair in a bob haircut and hooded brown eyes, her uniform was disheveled but it actually suited her for some reason. Honestly, she was a pretty girl but she had a hard-face that was relatively unpleasant to look at.
Pansy's response was to fold her arms and stare at him with a hostile face. A hostile face that had a few... Bruises on it because of the explosion that was caused by Neville.
"I'm sorry for what happened in Potion's class but I fail to see what exactly is hiding a gift from his grandmother supposed to accomplish." Maxwell pointed out as he stood in front of Pansy.
"This is not your business Peverell." She bluntly told the blond boy.
"Yes it is, trust me, if Neville had done that on purpose I wouldn't be wasting my time helping him." Max replied to her. "But sadly, Neville is just that clumsy, so there's no point in bullying him over it."
A scowl appeared on her face in response to what he said. "It's easy for you to say that!" She yelled at him in anger while pointing at the bruises on her face that were caused by the explosion.
Bloody hell, what did you put on that potion Nev? Maxwell asked himself as the bruises were pretty bad. "Do they hurt?" He asked out of sympathy as he inspected them closely.
"Don't pretend you care about Peverell." Pansy spoke with hostility before taking a few steps back and pulling something out of her robe's pocket. Which turned out to be Neville's Remembrall. "Is this what you want?" Her hostile expression turned into an evil smirk as she showcased what she had on her hand.
Maxwell barely reacted to that. "Pansy... Just hand it over." The blond boy requested the brown haired girl. Not that he expected her to actually just hand it over anyway.
"I don't think so." She then kept tossing it into the air over and over and over again. "But if you actually want to give it back to that fat idiot." It only took a second to Maxwell to realized that she was a bout to smash it into pieces. So he prepared himself to stop her. "You can hand him the pieces of what's left of i-" She lifted up in order to smash it into the floor at full power, but as soon as her hand was all the way up, Maxwell drew his wand and immediately used the Disarming Charm.
"Expelliarmus." The moment he launched the spell, the Remembrall flew off Pansy's hands at a very high speed and flew a considerable distance. The blond boy immediately reacted by climbing on top of his broomstick in order to catch it before it smashed into one of the towers.
If it was any other Broomstick, it would probably not have been fast enough. But the Skytear wasn't regarded as the fastest broomstick in existence due to a mere exaggeration. Maxwell was able to catch up with the Remembrall seconds before it collided with a tower, with him actually doing a pretty dumb and unnecessary maneuver of actually approaching the wall which was going to collide with, hold the broomstick with a single hand and kick the wall and use the momentum to lift both of his legs up before he grabbed the Remembrall with his free hand, then sitting back on the broomstick once again. Hah! It was his reaction after perfectly grabbing the Remembrall. It's been some time since I did this. Maxwell actually loves to perform this sort of tricks while flying on a broomstick, it's exceptionally unnecessary but they are so fun to do and look so cool that he can't help it.
Moving his head to check which tower it was, he realized that it was the Gryffindor tower. Moving his head around, he actually noticed something, several students staring at him from nearby windows, probably due to the over-the-top maneuver that he just did. Maxwell's only response was to wave at everyone before he decided to fly back to the middle courtyard in order to hand the Remembrall back to Neville. It only took him a couple of seconds to fly back there, where his friends were waiting for him. Once he descended, Hermione was the first one to speak.
"Maxwell Peverell, you could get yourself expelled for this!" The bushy brown haired girl immediately scolded him over what he just did.
"Antioch." It was his sole reply before he came off his wand.
"What?" Hermione was justifiably confused.
"My middle name is Antioch," He said as he approached them. "You should say their full name when you're scolding someone, Hermione Jean Granger." Maxwell Antioch Peverell lectured Hermione Jean Granger. "And you, try not to lose it again." He told Neville with an apprehensive stare, as he probably left it somewhere and Pansy got it as a result.
"I will not." Neville tried to speak as he took it off Maxwell's hand, clearly still ashamed of asking him to retrieve it for him.
Maxwell stared at him apprehensively a bit more, before warming his stare and just wrapping his arm around him. "Whatever, let's head back to the common room." Then he turned his gaze to Ronald. "You still owe me a rematch in chess."
"Seven for me and six for you, let's see if you can match the score and be surpassed." Ronald immediately spoke enthusiastically as the two had become quite the rivals in chess.
"Hey!" Hermione spoke as the boys started to walk away. "Wait for me!" She immediately ran to catch up to them.
"Ummm..." Unfortunately for the Peverell heir, while he was walking towards the common room with his three friends. Professor Minerva McGonagall called out for him and ordered him to accompany her. He suspected that she actually saw him flying on the Skytear through one of the windows, meaning that he was in deep trouble. "I can explain Professor..." Actually he couldn't, he didn't have any actual excuse as to why he was flying a broomstick unsupervised.
"Save it for later, Mr. Peverell." She replied as he walked beside her while holding the Skytear. "I'm willing to overlook your transgression if you're willing to do something for House Gryffindor in return."
Maxwell was justifiably confused. "Umm... I am a descendant of Gordric Gryffindor, if there is something wrong then..."
"That's good to hear." She replied. "And expect a conversation about where you got that black eye later." His professor stated before they eventually arrived at the Hogwarts Qudditch pitch, where several Gryffindor players were practicing at the moment.
As they were practicing, an apparent strategy that looked somewhat simplistic for Maxwell's taste. Professor McGonagall waved at a student that Maxwell recognized as Oliver Wood who was the Keeper and Captain for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Maxwell talked to him a few times, but it was only pointless blabbering about Quidditch.
Once he approached them. "Professor McGonagall?" Oliver was surprised with her presence. "Is there somet-'' He was about to ask something until he noticed Maxwell, his Broomstick to be more precise. "Is that what think it is?" It was the exact same question that Ronald asked when he saw it.
"The Skytear." Maxwell confirmed as he lifted up.
Oliver wasn't the only one to notice, several of the members of the team saw the broomstick and immediately stopped their practice in order to take a closer look at the legendary broomstick.
"Is it really?!"
"Of course it is."
"Is it as fast as the stories say?"
"I can't believe I'm actually seeing it."
"It's even cooler than in the photos."
"Can I fly on it sometime?"
"You're a lucky bastard, Peverell!"
"That's what I call a family heirloom, not a dumb medallion that doesn't do anything."
And it went on and on and on, until Professor McGonagall put an end to it. "Enough!" That was all that it took to shut them all up. "You can all ask Mr. Peverell later but right now, I have something to discuss with your captain."
Oliver removed his gaze from the Broomstick before looking at the Head of Gryffindor House. "Is there something wrong, Professor?" He asked her in concern.
"Not at all, I have something to inform you." She told him that before touching Maxwell's shoulder. "I have found you, a Seeker."
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
"Wait what?" That was Maxwell's reaction to what his Professor just said.
1976:
"Open up..."
Alistair Peverell was currently sitting down on his bed inside the Hospital Wing, waiting for Madam Pomfrey to arrive in order to examine him one last time before finally releasing him from the hospital wing. He awaited her arrival while at the company of his Ravenclaw friends, Xenophilius and Pandora. They were sitting on the bed where Alistair was laying on top of it, taking turns on spoon-feeding him Cherry Ice cream.
So good... Alistair thought as he felt the taste on his mouth. "Do you have any more detention?" He asked Xenophilius as he put a spoonful of ice cream on his mouth.
"No, my last detention was yesterday." His candyfloss textured haired friend replied. "Though I do believe that Professor Slughorn only released me in order to hide his secret stash of illicit potions for recreational purposes." Xeno told him his latest conspiracy theories.
"Recreational purposes?" As always, Alistair just went along with it because they were too fun to ignore.
"Think about it, some of the members of the Slug Club are always in such a happy mood, even the ones that are exceptionally in a bad mood all the time." Xeno presented his crazy theory, and Alistair mostly laughed it off.
"Xeno, I would have noticed if he was using some type of "recreational" potion on the students." He pointed out as Pandora spoon-feed him next.
"That's what I said." Pandora added.
"But that's the thing, how would you know?" Xeno decided to add as well before he fed him the last piece of the ice cream .
Before Alistair could give him a counter argument. Madam Pomfrey finally arrived at the Hospital Wing. "Hello, you three." She greeted them as she approached the bed. The three waved at her and Xeno and Pandora immediately stood up from the bed to give her space to examine Alistair. "How are feeling today, Mr. Peverell?" She asked as she inspected his torso.
"Well, most of the pain is gone except for my hand which still hurts a bit." He informed the Matron. "But other than that, I'm good to go."
"Your hand is going to take a few more days to be completely healed." She informed him, before she handed him one last potion for him to consume.
The blond boy drank the potion, which tasted sweet. Not bad...
"You're free to return to your usual activities," Madam Pomfrey told him before inspecting his hand. "But take it easy with that hand, as the damage on it was pretty severe."
The damage in everything was severe to be honest. He thought in response to what she said. "I will..." But that was his solo reply.
"Alright then," Madam Pomfrey then went to grab something up from the small cabinet next to the bed to retrieve something from it. "Ms. Evans was kind enough to have your uniform washed and brought here herself for your release." She informed the blond boy of it.
"Oh... Really?" The blond boy asked with Madam Pomfrey nodding in confirmation.
I mean... She is my girlfriend now so... Almost a week ago, Lily Evans revealed to him that he was the boy that she fancied and Alistair after receiving that information, completely reevaluated what his feelings were on the matter. Which turned out to be, that he felt the same way about Lily, so the two officially became a couple as a result. There was only one problem, which was the thing that Alistair was aiming to avoid after finding out that Lily fancied someone, but he has absolutely no idea on how to avoid it for himself.
"Mr. Peverell, don't take this the wrong way but... Try to stay out of the Hospital Wing from now on." She requested him.
Alistair just chuckled in response. "I'll try."
With that, Madam Pomfrey left the trio alone.
Alistair stood up from the bed and Pandora closed the privacy screen for him to get dressed.
"Are you going to class?" Pandora asked him as he took off the outfit he was wearing.
"Yes, the Transfiguration class is twenty-minutes." Alistair spoke as he put on his uniform's trousers. "They said I could take the day off, but I really want to go back to class." He informed his friends.
"It could be a side effect of the illicit potions, making you so eager to go back to class." Xeno started to go at it once again, which Alistair just rolled his eyes in response.
"Or maybe, because I have nothing else to do and all of my other friends are there." Alistair gave him his counter-argument.
"Speaking of which, we have History of Magic in fifteen minutes." Pandora told her boyfriend as she awaited Alistair to finish dressing up. "But sometimes I get the feeling that what we're being told is not really what happened."
"Bloody hell, don't you start with the conspiracy theories as well Pandora." The blond boy immediately complained as he put on his shoes on. "Besides, it's obvious it didn't happen precisely as he said , but the vast majority was documented by people that were indeed there." He gave an argument to Pandora.
"But, some of it could be lies." She added to him as she creeped her head above the screen.
"Some of it is definitely lies." Alistair agreed with her on that. "Some people usually write their own story in order to make it look better that it actually was."
The blond boy then proceeded to button-up his shirt but he was having difficulty due to his hand. Pandora immediately noticed and opened the screen and approached him before she buttoned his shirt for him. "Thanks." He told her.
"You're welcome." She then fixed Alistair's hair which was messy to the point of looking like James's hair.
"Here." Xeno grabbed a brush that belonged to Alistair and helped his girlfriend brush their friend's hair.
Soon enough, Alistair' medium-length blond hair was perfectly brushed back as it should be. "Thanks friends." He immediately grabbed his eccentric friends into a hug, which they immediately returned.
"We´re very glad to see you up again." Xeno told him as he hugged him tightly.
"And we would be very happy if you followed Madam Pomfrey's advice." Pandora added as she hugged him tightly.
Alistair just smiled at them before he separated from the hug, then he picked up his sweater, tie and robe and put it on. "I'll start following her advice by getting out of here."
"Hey!"
The moment that Alistair Lancelot Peverell stepped inside the classroom, he had a reception that he was absolutely not expecting. Which was basically every single Gryffindor inside the class rising from their seats and approaching him to greet him. Though, his friends were the loudest.
"There he is!" Sirius yelled before grabbing him into a hug and lifting him off the floor. "Alistair Peverell, up and running again!"
"It's so good to see you standing." Remus was the second one to grab him into a hug as soon as Sirius put him down.
Peter also gave him a hug.
"Hey cousin..." James was the last one to hug him, but he was the one that gave him the tightest hug.
"I would hex those bastards if they were still here." It was Alice's sole response before she also hugged him.
Once everyone was done greeting the Peverell boy, there were two people that didn't approached him. Standing in the middle of the classroom, there was two people that Alistair was looking forward to seeing, which was Mary Macdonald and Lily Evans. Lily seemed to be encouraging Mary to do or say something to him but she seemed reluctant. Wait, does she... It only took a few seconds for him to figure out what was wrong.
"Hey," Alistair responded by touching her shoulders before speaking. "Don't blame yourself for what happened, I have absolutely no regrets and would do it again in a heartbeat." It was truth, though, if he could go back, he would have definitely been more careful to avoid his injuries but the sentiment still the same.
Mary still looks a little upset, but she gave him a hug after he said. "I'm so glad you're okay..."
"Me too..." He replied as he returned the hug.
Once the two separated from their hug, there was only one person left for him to hug. But he clearly didn't have to as the red headed wasted no second in enveloping the blond boy into a bone breaking hug in front of everyone. Alistair retuned the hug instantly and the two stood like, making the longest hug so far.

"Everyone take your seats please."
Before anyone could question why they were hugging each other for so long, Professor McGonagall entered the classroom and ordered the Gryffindors to sit down.
Before Alistair could separate from Lily however, she whispered something on his ear. "Meet me at the Owlery after class." She separated from him afterwards and went take her seat next to Mary.
"Mr. Peverell, I'm glad to see you recovered." Professor McGonagall spoke as soon as she closed the distance.
"Me too." Alistair replied. "Thanks for the material that you sent in order for me to not stay behind in class." Remus delivered some of the classes assignments for him.
"It was no problem, you're one of my best students and it would be a shame if you're studies got compromised because of those two." Professor McGonagall spoke with quite a lot of disgust on her voice over the subject of Mulciber and Avery. "I don't know if you were informed, but they were expelled three days ago."
"Yes, Remus told me." Alistair was aware of it. "Through, I assume a considerable amount of their Housemates were not exactly pleased with their departure." A lot of the students at Slytherin probably saw that as a Blood-Traitor defending a Mudblood and getting two "respectful" Pure-Blood Wizards expelled.
"Your assumption is correct, and if you have any trouble from any member of Slytherin, don't hesitate to inform about it." The Professor instructed him. "Now, take your seat."
Alistair just nodded before moving to take his seat next to Remus.
After the class was over, Alistair had to come up with an excuse to leave hid friends to go meet Lily at the Owlery. He managed to invent a story, saying that he needed to sent a letter to his father about the business trip that he was in. They easily brought it and told him that they'll be at the West Wing and he assured them that he would meet them later.
With that, Alistair Peverell made his way to meet his... It's still a little strange to say it. He thought with a small blush on his face. As he was still getting used to the fact that him and Lily were a couple now. I mean... It still a little unbelievable for him. Especially since she admitted that she fancied him since the day they met on the train to Hogwarts during their first year. She had those feelings for me all of this time and I never noticed... He sighed. I guess I am dense.
"Peverell!" As he passed through the middle courtyard, he heard someone call his name. To his surprise, it was Sirius's brother, Regulus Black. The best way to describe Regulus, was as a less attractive and shorter version of Sirius.
"Hello Regulus." Alistair politely greeted him, despite the fact that he's probably there to insult him.
Regulus just folded him arms and took a deep breath before speaking. "I just came here to give you a warning." He spoke in a somewhat pleasant but worried tone. "You better prepare yourself, because the moment you caused Mulciber and Avery's expulsion from Hogwarts, you manage to make yourself a enemy of House Slytherin." Sirius's brother informed him of the obvious that Alistair was already aware of.
"Ummm... I am aware of that." He pointed out the obvious to him. "And I'm pretty sure I was on their bad side the moment I was sorted into Gryffindor."
"But now it's different." Regulus told him in a calm voice. "You actually got the two in trouble with the Ministry of Magic, and this is the type of attention that Slytherin was avoiding."
"I got them in trouble?" Alistair was insulted by that. "Does it look like I asked them to hit me with an unforgivable curse and beat me up afterwards?"
"Those idiots got themselves into their own mess with that, I agree." Regulus told him. "But everyone else is looking for someone to blame and it's either you or the mud-" He was about to say that word but he was immediately interrupted.
"Her name is Mary." Alistair stated to him. "And what do you care anyway?" That was something that Alistair couldn't understand. "Wouldn't get me on a surprise attack more beneficial for them?" He asked. "Why sent you to warn me?"
"They didn't..." Regulus revealed to him while closing his eyes for a second.
"What?" Alistair was confused.
Regulus sighed and seemed to be having a hard time in saying it. "Despite the House that you belong to and the company you keep yourself with, you alongside Potter and even my brother are still Pure-Bloods and there aren't many of us left." Sirius's brother explained his logic to him. "And believe it or not, I have a deep admiration for your family and I would detest if the Peverell bloodline ended because of your misguided heroism." There was a certain petulance on his delivery.
"Umm... Thanks..." There's no way that was compliment, but coming from a Slytherin, it's close. "I guess..."
"It wasn't a compliment, I happen to have a very low opinion of you." Regulus immediately clarified. "You have been warned, give my regards to foolish brother and try not to get yourself killed."
With that , Sirius's younger brother turned his back and walked away from the blond boy, leaving him to contemplate everything that the Black heir said to him.
,
"What?!"
After his strange conversation with Regulus Black, Alistair rushed to arrive at the Owlery to speak with Lily about it. She was not pleased at all.
"I was already expecting it, but after what Regulus said..." They were sitting down in a hidden spot behind the Owlery so they won't get noticed. "It's probably more serious than I expected." He commented before he leaned on the wall.
Lily just stood in front of him. "Look, I'll talk with Professor McGonagall about that and see what can be done to help you but until them, please don't go around without someone accompanying you." The red head girl was clearly concerned for his safety, not that he can blame her considering that he was on the receiving end of a unforgivable curse already.
Alistair just looked down in response.
"Hey..." Lily touched his cheeks and lifted hid head up. "It's going to be okay." She reassured him in a very soothing voice that relaxed Alistair.
The blond boy only stared deeply into her green eyes with his blue ones before he replied. "Like I told Mary earlier," He gave her a weak smile. "No regrets."
Lily just smiled in response, before she connected her lips with his. Alistair immediately returned the kiss. But after a few seconds, be pushed her away gently. "What's wrong?" Lily asked him in confusion.
"Hmm..." Alistair needed to tell her about his concerns regarding James's reaction about their relationship. "You see..." But he didn't know how to say it.
Lily seemed confused for a second, until she made a very annoyed expression. "Let me guess, you're worried about your cousin's reaction about us dating?" She easily figured out, which made Alistair a little embarrassed.
"Yeah..." He decided to admit it in a bit of shame.
Lily sighed in clear annoyance bit it didn't seem to be towards Alistair. "I understand," She told him. "I am perfectly aware of your cousin's feelings for me and how much of a sore loser he is, and I agree that he will probably not react well to our relationship." The red head girl was clearly understandable of the situation.
"Oh good, I really didn't know how to explain it." Alistair pointed out to her.
"I have proposition." Lily spoke as she lifted her finger up.
"Okay..." Alistair was curious to hear it.
"Let's... Keep our relationship a secret." Lily suggested to him. "At least until you find the right moment to tell him."
Alistair was very surprised with how understand she was of the situation. "Would you... Be okay with that?" He asked his girlfriend.
Lily the placed her hands on his shoulders before she replied. "I want this relationship to be as pleasant as possible to you and I really don't want you getting into trouble with your cousin as a result of it." She told him with a smile. "But, I certainly would prefer that you tell him as soon as possible."
Alistair understood that. "I promise, the first good opportunity, I'll tell him about you and I." He promised his girlfriend.
Her smile grew even more brighter. "You and I..." She apparently loved hearing that.
"Yes, you and I..."
His blue eyes and her green eyes just kept on stating deeply into one another, until the two went back to what they were doing earlier. Which was kissing one another in a very tender kiss.
No regrets, especially since it led to this. It was Alistair's opinion about the whole situation as he enjoyed the embrace of his girlfriend, completely forgetting about the things he would have to deal with it.
Thanks everyone for reading this chapter and I deeply apologize for the wait.
Questions and Answers:
looking forward to the next chapter
Hope you enjoyed.
Sorry can't help myself but can I ask will we see Maxwell be named Prefect in year 5 and Head Boy in his final year could even see Ginny be named Prefect when her fifth comes about to
Will we also soon see Maxwell get his hands on the Marauders map and find the room of requirement like the idea that Maxwell gets his hands on the map a lot earlier than Harry did and finds the room soon to make it his personal den
Been meaning to ask to with Ron when it comes to his let's call it less than glamorous moments like when year 4 comes around and his jealously of Maxwell spikes will we get Maxwell forgiving Ron as quickly as Harry did or will Maxwell keep him at more of a arms length after especially since in this I don't see Maxwell and Ron being near as close as Harry and Ron where plus I can see Ron being more of a ass with Maxwell due to his far superior abilities and the fact Draco is the person Maxwell sees as his best friend and practically brother in all but blood
Like they could still get back on friendly terms it's just Ron isn't among Maxwells closest friends
I also hope that Maxwell keeps in frequent contact with Nym after she graduates and starts her Auror training
Trivia time has Maxwell accompanied Angelo on trips to other ministries and magic communities around the world and if he has could you give examples of ones he's been to like France, Japan, USA etc
Angelo actually requests Dumbledore to give him the position of Prefect to keep him busy.
He might find out about the map earlier but he won't get his hands on it until the second year. (And have a weird surprise when he sees Ron sleeping next to a guy on it.) Let's just say that... the Castle answers differently for someone with the blood of the Founders.
Yeah ,in the fourth year, Ron's inferiority complex and jealousy towards Maxwell will hit an all time high. Unlike Harry, Maxwell actually will place his name on the Goblet himself (No Peverell ever competed and if he does win, it will be an achievement that he could be remembered for.) on purpose and will be instantly recognized as the Hogwarts champion by the school with everyone actually cheering for him as they assume that their victory is guaranteed (Although, the tournament was altered a bit by Angelo and there will be more than three challenges.) Coupled with the fact that he instantly becomes friends with Viktor Krum and how he (involuntarily) becomes super close to the Delacour Sisters. Maxwell actually considers Ron as his second best male friend behind Draco, but he won't have much sympathy for Ron regarding his complains. (Ron has six siblings that are better than him at something while Maxwell has a centuries old family filled with people that were better than everyone else at something.)
Oh he will.
Maxwell did went to the USA once but then he stopped accompanying Angelo because the trip was exceptionally dull for the most part and Angelo pretty much told him that all of them would be like that.
great story please continue
Thanks
Hope you can give us a new chapter soon
Here we go...
It's a really fun story. Unlike what others have written, like incompatible crossovers or isekai, it's boring, but your story is still up to standard, okay, next question.
1. Is James Potter still alive? if he is still alive Is Harry still here?
2. Who is the main enemy of this story? Voldemort or Grindelwald? personally I'd rather be Grindelwald. Because Grindelwald is a revolutionary who can persuade people to become them. causing many to sacrifice their lives for him Not a crazy person who uses fear to control people. He might have a magic that could bring him back to his youth.
Finally, Merry Christmas in advance.
In case I don't see you... good after noon, good evening, and good night.
Yes, maybe...
It's Voldemort although Grindewald may make an appearance.
Merry Christimas and Happy New year late
Did you intentionally make Tonks a year younger or did you misunderstand her age?
Neither, there's an explanation to why she still at Hogwarts.
You do know that you said his scar was hard to look at right? I don't see how a revolting scar across the entire front is badass.. more like, gross.
That's your opinion, some people think scars look badass other think it's gross.
See when it comes to Maxwells very active interest in girls I can see Sirius just being happy Maxwell isn't as dense as his father
Speaking of Sirius in this I hope he's not in Azkaban but he's traveling the world hunting down a certain rat stopping by to visit whenever he's in the Uk
I'll admit I forgot Draco and Astoria got betrothed already haha and judging from the response yep seems like Susan will have one of the largest busts here haha also you ain't missing out by not playing the mystery app
Thanks for confirming that the Tutshill Tornado's are Maxwell's favourite Qudditch team
Thrilled that we won't see the school turn on Maxwell for one bullshit reason or another every other year and glad it's going to be a mix of just how likeable Maxwell is and the fact none of them want to cross him
When it comes to Voldemort and Maxwell in this I can see plenty of envy on Voldemort's part for numerous reasons like their families Maxwell comes from the greatest magical family in the world and the wealthiest to while Voldemort's magical family ran themselves into the dirt and because as you know I hope Maxwell shows himself to be the most powerful wizard of all time past present and future displacing Albus and Merlin and all that Voldemort can be jealous of his magical gifts to since they are above his own despite how immense they are
As for Nagini interested to see if in this she never joins Voldemort and instead makes her way to Maxwell first he can talk to her after all
Another thing I've been thinking about is Maxwell could be a parseltongue naturally due to the fact it could be a trait that pops up in his family every couple of generations say the Peverell's first got the ability many many generations ago when one of there more darker aligned members married a beautiful charming lady from the Gaunt family back when they still had good looks and sanity and like I said being a parseltonge doesn't happen often in Maxwells family the last one could have been Angeles's great grandparent
Heck a past Peverell could have married and had children with a descendant of Helga to thinking about it
Been meaning to say will we see Maxwell learn and use some darker leaning spells like Fiendfyre and Protego Diablocia essentially will Maxwell also be a master of the dark arts alongside magic in general
Harem suggestions
A Grandaughter of Vinda Rosier… called Vinda a student of Beauxbatons who's best friends with Fleur
Callista hey despite being a doll she could be quite happy with Maxwell plus got the sense that Maxwell is the first resident of the castle Callista could ever have bonded with look if the Doll from Bloodborne can be someone's waifu why can't Callista be Maxwell haha
If any of the girls currently on the Gryffindor Qudditch team take a shine to Maxwell and want to spoil him for doing well hope it's Angelina
Now onto Tonks very glad to read how she's certainly not going to mind being on the receiving end of Maxwells interest and yep got my fingers crossed that by the end of his first year Maxwell gets to see Nym in her underwear and naked heck ideally she could do a full stripe down for him and if fortune is smiling on him he could get to feel her tits and ass and if he's really lucky Nym could treat him to his first blow job
Not to mention all the glimpse Nym and indulging his interests she could give Maxwell over the course of the year before hand
In Al's defense, his mother was just as dense when it came to relatioships, so he kind of took after her.
Padfoot and Prongs are probably away from the UK at the moment.
I don't know...
You're welcome.
The Peverell's reputation mixed with who his grandfather is, alongside his magical talent add to that.
Voldemort is actually a distant descendant of the Peverell family through Cadmus Peverell (The second brother) and since the Peverells are a prominent family. (Causing him to admit, even with his intense narcissism, that the Peverell's capabilities actually match his and even akwnoledges that his natural talent probably comes from their bloodline.)
Maxwell are indeed parseltongues as a Angelo's great-great-grandmother was a Gaunt. (Angelo says that it's completely random as neither him or Alistair were but he admits that his late brother was a Parseltongue.)
The book of Draven Peverell has all the knowledge of Dark Magic that he needs.
Callista is indeed based on the doll from Bloodborne. (But, she's like a sister to Maxwell, the one she's going to be the closest to is Luna and a... certain vampire girl that Maxwell is going to get close to.)
LOL!
MMMMMM...
Love it love it love it
So while Maxwell doesn't think much of his talent in potions it's very apparent that like Lily he's quite good at Potions despite it not being among his favourite classes and I'll admit I was a bit like Draco in being amused by the fact Ron couldn't answer the question Maxwell had just answered couldn't help but find it a bit funny
Now while I'm happy Maxwell was impressed with Hermione I do like how he acknowledged she does seem to be showing her knowledgeable in a slightly to show off fashion still also happy that while finding the constant questions somewhat annoying at times Maxwell has been talking to Hermione a fair bit since the school year started
Can't fault Maxwell for wanting to be alone for a time on Halloween all things considering
While going into the girls bathroom to check on Hermione loved the reveal that Maxwell has been able to hang out with Tonks a few times and the fact she's been able to seemingly intimidate all the students who actually know her name into silence even when she's not around haha also curious about this glimpse of her he tried to get what was she doing haha
Really liked the talk with Hermione sure it won't be long before it clicks for her and a few others why Maxwell ain't exactly happy about the day he became the boy who lived and all that and I loved seeing Maxwell comfort Hermione while also letting her know she is coming off as a tad to much of a show off and when you had Hermione bring up the fact she was most upset about not returning a library book that got me laughing a good deal
When it comes to Maxwells faults
Overconfidence in his magic - the fact he keeps this in his head alone helps keep this in check plus it helps that he's really talented anyway
Melancholy - can't fault him for feeling down on days like Halloween
Realising he's a bit of a pervert - at least he's not a perverted idiot that makes dumb expressions or acts stupid around girls
Again like his desire to bury his face in Nym's chest
Found everything Maxwell said about Hermione and asking if she wants to be friends very nice to read about shame the Troll interrupted them
Enjoyed reading how Maxwell took down the Troll to and that he quickly got over any fear he had for it and dealt with it quite easily and the following scene with Hermione bolting in and the teachers reactions to Maxwell taking down a mountain troll alone was great when it comes to the talk about why Maxwell and Hermione weren't with the others I'm sure they'll have an idea about why both weren't in the great hall
Found it great that Hermione immediately told everyone in the common room that Maxwell had saved her from the Troll and also was the one to single handily beat it which means by tomorrow everyone would have heard that Maxwell defeated the Troll
The last secretion was good to and when the others find out that Lily is with Alistair when it comes to James reaction can his reaction be while upset he doesn't hold anything against Alistair really like this doesn't cost the two their friendship
Potions is much more about memorization than anything. (Though a bit of creativity helps too.)
Maxwell is half-annoyed and half-amused by her questions.
He's like his father in regards of melancholia at times.
He was trying to... take a good look at her...
That's Hermione for you, LOL!
Max has a tendency of thinking he's good enough to solve any problem and it will backfire on him from time to time.
Like I said, he got that from his father.
He's more of a Light Pervert.
He might get his wish later.
The troll actually cemented their friendship.
Poor Alistair, will sadly be on the receiving end of the fury of two wizards. (One will eventually accept it though while the other will still be bitter about it until their deaths.) {Side note, you probably already figured which is which, but it's the other way around.)
Thx for The update
You're welcome.
I love it!*-*
it's a bit funny to me that I like the second parts at the end more than I like the main story itself, I wish It could have it's own story
It is technically it's own story within a story.
