Chapter 3: Not So Smart. (2/3)
In an exceptionally strange turn of events, Maxwell Antioch Peverell was now the Gryffindor Seeker. Technically making him the youngest Seeker in a century. Sadly, it was more of necessity than anything, since apparently, despite assembling a good team, Oliver Wood was unable to find anyone skilled enough to play as Seeker for the team after the departure of Charles Weasley, Ron's older brother, in the previous year.
"I don't understand what exactly you are complaining about." Draco spoke in confusion as the two friends sat next to one another inside of the library.
"I don't like the fact that I only got the position due to pure and random chance." Max explained as he read a book of potions, mostly to memorize in order to annoy Professor Snape. "Much less the very little time I have to prepare for it." Since their first game will be in three days.
"Prepare for it?" It wasn't really a question. "You have Skytear." He pointed out the obvious.
"Professor McGonagall and Madam Hooch requested that I use a normal broomstick for the game." Maxwell informed him in deep frustration. According to them, the Skytear would give me a game-breaking advantage that would make the whole game pointless as a result. Although Maxwell agreed, it was still annoying.
"Hah!" He let out a chuckle which caused a bunch of people to shush him in response. "No offense, but I'm actually relieved because at least Slytherin has a chance to win now."
"I asked my grandfather to buy me Nimbus 2000, it should be arriving before the game." Maxwell informed his friend. "He was overjoyed when he heard that I actually became the Gryffindor Seeker."
"Your grandfather gets overjoyed quite easily." Draco replied, not that he was exaggerating as his grandfather sometimes acts like an overgrown child at times.
"That's part of his charm to be honest." Maxwell added before he closed the book of potions, having memorized enough for the day. "I'm going for a walk, are you coming?"
He shakes his head. "I have to study."
Maxwell simply nodded before he started to make his way out of the library. But as soon as he reached the exit, he bumped into a familiar face. "Hi, Max." It was Hermione.
"Hi, Hermione." The blond boy greeted his brunette friend. "What book are you looking for today?" He asked her.
"Well..." When Hermione doesn't or wants to know something, she'll always go to the library to try to find a book about it. "I'm actually searching for a very specific information that I believe that the Professor got wrong about a certain spell, because the book instructed in a very specific way but the Professor did it in a very different fashion that it was described, which made me a little confuse, so I decided to check on it to see if I actually remembered wrong or the professor did it incorrectly."
Maxwell used to wonder why she was put in Gryffindor instead of Ravenclaw, but after he befriended her,he understood. It was because she's a little too uptight in regards to knowledge and information. If she didn't hear it from a Professor or read it from a book, she simply doesn't see the information as reliable. And that's a pretty close-minded way of seeing things, which is the polar opposite of what the Ravenclaws do. The Ravenclaws have an open-minded approach to things, they value ingenuity and outside of the box thinking. "Maybe the Professor was just showing a different method that works better in his opinion." He suggested.
"If that's the case, he's making a mistake." She immediately questioned the action. "He should be using the standard method to use the spell so a student won't have a problem practicing it later, otherwise they won't know what to do with the instructions found in the book and that's especially true if the student has a poor memory like Ron." Hermione responded with a long explanation to why that was wrong.
"That's actually a good point, though the method he showed probably has its benefits as well." Max replied to her. "Some spells are actually needlessly complicated, and my grandfather told me that there are methods to do some of them in a less complicated way."
"Really?" Hermione seemed curious about that. "If there are indeed different methods to produce certain spells, they should really be put on the instruction book as it would benefit the ones learning about those specific spells as it would allow them to pick the method that works best for them."
"Sadly, a lot of those methods require trial and error, so most prefer to stick to the standard method that has been proven to work." Maxwell explained to her.
"That makes perfect sense and I actually agree with that, because the wrong spell could come out by accident and that's hardly the case with the standard method." Hermione replied to his explanation.
Whatever Maxwell was planning to do with his free time, was completely abandoned in favor of a very long conversation with Hermione about different methods to do different spells. The two actually left the library and made their way to the Gryffindor common room and basically spent hours talking about the subject. Sadly, it was to the annoyance of Ron as they talked as he and Maxwell played Wizard's Chess together.
"Okay, can we please change the subject for something more important?" Ron asked as he moved his tower. "Like, what are you planning to do during the Quidditch game?"
Maxwell made a confused face before moving his pawn. "Catch the Snitch?" Which was the job of the Seeker. "But the truth is, I genuinely believe that the Seeker is the second hardest position in a Quidditch team."
"Second?" Hermione asked that.
"The first one is the Keeper." Maxwell pointed out. "If the Seeker makes a mistake, it could cost the whole game." He explained his opinion about the Seeker position. "But the Keeper is the one that has the hardest job in the team, because he's the one that is the most likely to have an accident."
"Definitely, my brother Charlie once told me a story of a Keeper that got his nose smashed by a Quaffle during a game." Ron replied to what Maxwell said.
"Ouch..." Maxwell cringed as the image of it appeared on his head.
Hermione cringed even more, probably for the same reason.
"Ummm... Excuse me..?" Suddenly, someone called their attention, the trio moved their heads to see who it was and they saw that it was a girl.
"Hi, Lavender." Hermione greeted the girl, she was Lavender Brown, if Maxwell wasn't mistaken. "Do you need something?"
"Well... There's a girl from Slytherin outside asking for Maxwell." She informed them.
"Daphne?" Maxwell stood up from his seat immediately. "Thanks for informing me." He politely thanked her for it with a smile.
"Umm... No problem.." The pale girl smiled and blushed a bit after Maxwell smiled at her.
Both Ron and Hermione had different reactions to that. Ron just looked annoyed but it was probably because he left while they were in the middle of the game. Hermione, on the other hand, seemed to be annoyed for some reason.
"I'm gonna see what Daphne needs." Max informed his friends. "I'll be back."
"Don't take too long, I wanna finish the game." Ron spoke as he hated to leave the game half-played.
"Max, please don't do anything that might get you in trouble." Hermione kind of dislikes Daphne since his brawl with Blaise Zabini.
"I'm just talking to her." Max stated before he moved towards the exit of the common room to meet with his blond friend.
Once he stepped outside, there she was, standing in there motionless with her stoic expression. Truth was, the two haven't really talked since the whole thing with Zabini, so Maxwell was still unaware of what connection that box has with his grandmother's family. Truth is, he could never find anything about it, which was strange, since Maxuella Peverell was kind of a legend. The woman that single-handedly hunted the most dangerous magical creatures in existence. So it was relatively strange that information about the family that she belonged to before she married my grandfather.
"Did you set the Wesley twins on Zabini?" Daphne asked with her usual monotone voice.
"Did they do something?" He asked in curiosity.
"Yes." She bluntly replied.
...
...
...
"And?" He asked.
"I think it's better if you don't know." Hearing that from Daphne's mouth immediately made him a little worried.
She's probably right, if it was drastic I rather not have that weight on my conscience. "Do you need something?" He asked her.
"Yes, I need you to break into the Restricted Section and grab a book for me." She bluntly told him what she wanted from him.
Maxwell only stared at her with a stoic expression that emulated hers before he asked. "Explanation?"
"I finally found a way to open the box, but the details of how to open it are in a book." Daphne explained, giving as little information as possible.
Maxwell then widened his eyes in realization. "Does that mean..."
"It means, I finally ran out of ideas and I need your help to open the box." She gracefully admitted defeat. "Will you help me or not?" Despite her stoic expression and monotone voice, Maxwell could tell that she was actually frowning on the inside.
"Sure, but..." Maxwell had a question first. "What was that thing that you were saying about the box, before Zabini interrupted us for reasons that are still unknown to me."
"I'll tell you after you get the book I need." Daphne stated.
The blond boy let out a sigh in response to that. "Okay, what book and what does it look like?"
After foolishly accepting Daphne's request, Maxwell decided to wait until the night arrived. He thought about sneaking out during the dinner, but he ended up deciding against it. Mostly because most people would notice his absence, and he prefers to not tell anyone that he would be stealing a book from the Restricted Section. You needed a specially signed note from one of the teachers to look in any of the restricted books, and first years would never get their hands on a note like that.
Once the dinner was over, he simply went back to the Common Room with his friends and waited, but the wait was particularly long, probably because of the slight nervousness that he was feeling.
As soon as it got late enough, Maxwell Peverell got out of his bed quietly. He didn't tell Ron or Hermione about it, mostly because Ron would probably want to go with him, while Hermione would scold him for it and probably chastise Daphne for asking him to do that. Putting his shoes on and grabbing his wand, Maxwell moved out of the room wearing his very expensive red silk pajamas. I need to sneak through the corridors, arrive at the library, grab the book, come back to the Common Room and give the book to Daphne to finally discover the mystery about the box. He thought as moved towards the common room entrance.
"What?" But the moment that he opened in order to head out, he was greeted by the sight of someone. Which was Nevile Longbotton sleeping on the ground right in front of the entrance, still wearing his uniform. The blond boy immediately kneeled down in order to check on his friend. "Nev?" He gently shook the chubby boy in order to wake him up.
It only took two gentle shakes to wake him up. "Max?"
"Why the bloody hell are you sleeping here?" The blond boy asked the other blond boy in deep confusion.
"Ummm..." Neville seemed embarrassed as he stood up from the floor slowly. "I... I had a stomach ache and..." He was obviously having difficulty explaining. "I had to run to the bathroom when everyone was returning to the Common Room and..."
It only took a second for Maxwell to understand. "You forgot the password again, didn't you?" The boy with Blue-Green eyes asked apprehensively while folding his arms.
His response was to immediately look away embarrassed.
Maxwell just sighed. I don't have time for this. "Just go to bed." He bluntly told Nev before he made his way to the library.
"Where are you going?" Neville asked him as he walked.
"To the Library." He spoke as he moved.
"But, it's late." Neville pointed out the obvious as he followed Max. "Why don't you wait until tomorrow?"
"Because I need a specific book now, so please go to bed." He told Neville as he reached the end of the stairs.
"Umm... Okay." Nev decided to obey him and climbed the stairs once again.
Now that Maxwell was finally alone, he decided to proceed with his quest. "Lumos." As he walked relatively slowly through the corridors of Hogwarts, the blond boy was as careful as possible to not bump into anyone. As it would lose him house points if he gets caught out of the bed. Hermione and him do get a considerable amount of House Points from their flawless display of magical prowess during classes. But he prefers not to risk it.
To his luck, the way towards the library was free from any setbacks. All that really stood out for him were the portraits, which were actually making some funny sleeping faces.
He was about to enter the Hogwarts Library without any problem.
Except.
"Hey, Max!" Maxwell jumped after getting startled by someone calling his name. Immediately turning around, he saw that it was Neville calling him.
"SSSHHHHH!" The Peverell heir immediately shushed him angrily before speaking in a whisper. "I told you to go to bed!" He spoke angrily.
"Ummm... The door closed while we were talking." Nev informed him of it.
His response was to slap his forehead in frustration. He could tell Neville what the password was, but the possibility of him getting caught on his way back was just too high. So the blond boy just made a decision. "Just come with me, I'll get the book I need and then we can go back to the Common Room." He told his chubby friend before he signaled him to follow him.
"Sure..." Neville followed him without question. "What kind of book are you looking for anyway?"
"I found a box that used to belong to my grandmother's family, but I can't get it open because of a protective spell." It was only a half-truth, but it still explained why he was doing that. "Apparently, there is a book in the Restricted Section that shows how to get rid of the protective spell." According to Daphne.
"Couldn't you ask one of the professor's for a note to see the book?" Nev asked him as the two entered the library.
"They would have never given a signed note for the Restricted Section to a first year student, and they could confiscate the box under suspicion of it being dangerous." Max pointed out as they passed by the bookshelves.
"Is it dangerous?" Nev asked him in curiosity.
"Probably not, but I'm going to be careful." He replied, but in truth, the box was probably dangerous.
Soon enough, the two blond boys arrived at the area closed off by a rope. Restricted Section, filled with books that might have been rare, valuable, and/or considered inappropriate for younger students, thus why it was restricted. Maxwell could only laugh at that, the majority of the books that he's seeing there, he already saw more than once at the Peverell Castle. Which is understandable, almost all of the books in his home are the original copies while the ones inside the library were merely copies.
"I don't like this..." Neville spoke before he passed through the rope after Max did.
"Please be quiet, I need to focus here." Max asked him politely as he checked the shelves for the book that Daphne needs. According to Daphne, the book is called, Obscurity of Protective Charms. It's basically a book that lists lesser known protective charms and how to remove them. The Peverell heir thought as he searched for the book. According to Daphne, the cover had a drawing of a field in green that is supposed to represent something that Daphne didn't know how to explain. Sadly, it proved to be a much more difficult task than he intended, since Max had to pull the books one by one to be able to check the cover.
One,two, three, four, five, six. Six minutes passed by as Maxwell inspected the books one by one while Neville just stood there, constantly looking at the entrance in fear. Come on... Come on ... Come on... Wait a minute, how does Daphne even know the book is even here? He just realized that he didn't even ask if she was certain if the books were there. Nah, Daphne wouldn't send me here unless she was certain. She would definitely trick someone she doesn't like if she was uncertain but Max was one of the very few people Daphne cared about and there was no way she would get him in trouble otherwise. His belief was proven correctly after he checked three more books, with the third one being the one that he was looking for. Here it is! He thought as he opened the book to check, on the first page there was a complex description of a protective charm that utilizes darkness. This is interesting, I'm gonna borrow this book after Daphne finishes with it.
Maxwell closed the book and turned to look at Neville. "I got it, let's go." He told his friend before doing something. "Reducio." He used the Shrinking Charm on the book in order to put it in his pocket.
Neville just nodded and followed behind Maxwell in order to get out of the Library.
But as soon as they stepped outside, Maxwell started to feel something familiar. "Ahh..." The bearable but unpleasant pain on his scar. Professor Quirrell is nearby, what could he possibly be doing? It was the only explanation for the pain he was feeling.
"Are you okay?" Nev asked in concern after he touched Maxwell's shoulder.
"More or less..." The pain was a little worse now, and he immediately wasn't a fan of that. Whatever is causing this pain, seems to be getting worse. He thought as he touched his scar. I got to check it out. He started to move towards a direction but stopped when he noticed that the pain was diminishing, then he moved towards another direction when he felt it getting stronger.
"Where are you going?" Nev asked him as he followed him.
"It's a long story." He told his friend as he moved towards the direction that his pain was taking him. I should really send Neville away, but I really don't want him to get caught. He thought as he moved with Nev following behind him.
Maxwell blindly followed the pain on his chest, through the corridors of Hogwarts. Foolishly, he wasn't paying attention to where he was going. But that was a result of the increasing pain on his chest, a pain he was able to mostly ignore but it was already approaching unbearable territory. All he could do was walk, and try to avoid being spotted by anyone, especially Quirrell, though Argus Filch was also someone he was trying to avoid. After several steps towards an unknown destination, Maxwell finally caught the sight of Quirrell.
"Professor Quirrell?" Nev asked as he saw him from a distance as well.
They could see the man wearing a purple turban speaking but, there was no one there.
"Who is he speaking to?" Nev asked.
"Either no one, or someone we can't see." Maxwell thinks it's the latter.
Suddenly, the man started to move and Maxwell decided to follow him while Neville was following Maxwell.
"Why are we following him?" Nev asked.
"I think he was the one that let the troll into the castle during Halloween." He revealed it to Neville, who widened his eyes in response.
"Why?" Nev asked him.
"That's what I'm trying to find out." Max told him.
Max and Nev both continue to follow their Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. Until he arrived at a door. The two blind boys hid in a corner to watch him, and once again they saw him speaking. Who are you speaking to? He was annoyed that he couldn't hear what he was saying. Suddenly, he moved his head into their direction and the two boys had to hide quickly. Dammit. Max pushed Neville into the wall so the two could hide in the dark. His chubby friend was visibly frightened, but he doesn't know if it's by the Professor or by the dark. It was probably both.
Professor Quirrell stared at their direction for a minute, before he moved his head back to the door he approached and opened without any trouble. The boy with blue-green eyes watched as he passed through the door. What is that room? Maxwell thought as he waited a bit before approaching.
Nev followed him, probably because of the dark. "I think we're on the third floor."
"You sure?" Of course he wasn't sure but Maxwell asked anyway.
"Last month, I got lost while I was looking for Trevor and ended up on the third floor." Neville explained to him. "Mr. Filch found me and took me back to the Common Room."
"So that's why you ended up in detention with Professor McGonagall?" He asked.
"Yes..." He admitted in response.
As they approached the door, Maxwell peeked inside to check, and slowly entered once he saw that it was clear. But he did notice that it was way darker inside, even with the Wand-Lighting Charm illuminating the way. "What is this?"
"Why is it do dark here?" Neville asked as it was way too dark.
There was something unnatural about that darkness. Is it magic? Maxwell wondered as they keep trying to see in that intense darkness that was inside that room.
"Max?" He moved his head back to look at Neville, who was terrified. "Where is the door?" As soon as he looked at him, Maxwell noticed that the door that they just entered was nowhere to be found.
"Grab on to my arm and don't let go." He ordered Neville, who immediately grabbed his arm.
"What is going on?" Nev asked as he looked around.
"This darkness is magical." Maxwell's grandfather once mentioned the existence of spells that could manipulate darkness but he never actually saw them himself.
The two blond boys stood in place trying to find a way out of that darkness, but they immediately got frightened after hearing a loud noise. Nev's grip on Max's arm tightened in visible fear. Max on the other hand maintained his calm in order to try to identify what made that noise. The noise sounded like steps, but they couldn't be human steps, they were too heavy for that. Is it a creature? Maxwell asked himself as he could hear a strange and low grunt coming from the darkness.
...
...
...
"Lumos Maxima!" Having had enough of that suffocating darkness, Maxwell Peverell utilized the spell. Ironically, it was a shoot in the dark as Max had no idea if it was going to work. But it worked, as the strange darkness that was surrounding the two of them dispersed. Only to reveal to them what exactly made that noise that they heard.
Right in front of Maxwell Peverell and Neville Longbottom, there was a creature. A monstrous dog, a dog that filled the whole space between ceiling and floor. It had three heads. Three pairs of rolling, mad eyes; three noses, twitching and quivering in their direction; three drooling mouths, saliva hanging in slippery ropes from yellowish fangs. It was standing quite still, all six eyes staring at them.
A Cerberus?! Also known as a Three-headed dog. It was a rare creature, classified as an XXXX creature. Grab Neville and run on three... Max knew that the only reason they weren't already dead was that their sudden appearance thanks to the mysterious darkness had taken it by surprise, but it was quickly getting over that, there was no mistaking what those thunderous growls meant.
One...Two...Three! "RUN!" Maxwell yelled before he forcibly pushed the , paralyzed in fear, Neville towards the direction of the door.
"AAAAHHHH!" Neville let out an horrified scream as he ran towards the door.
But as soon as they saw the door, they noticed that something was off. Why is the door bigger!? Maxwell thought in deep confusion as the regular door that they used to get inside was now much bigger. Bigger enough for the Cerberus to pass through. Quirrel set trap. It was the only explanation.
Maxwell and Neville could only run in desperation in an attempt to run away from the creature that is chasing after them. Running as quickly as they could through the corridors as the Three headed dog hungrily chased after the two. Bloody hell, what do I do?! The Gryffindor boy desperately tried to come up with a plan on how to deal with the creature chasing after him. Moving his head to look at Nev, Max quickly noticed that he was going to be out of breath soon, so he really needed to come up with a plan quickly. But Maxwell couldn't come up with anything, at least not something that would actually take it down, the only weakness that they possess is their great weakness was the inability to resist falling asleep to the sound of music. Sadly, the Peverell boy had no instrument, nor did he have the time to conjure one. I need to protect Neville before I can take care of this.
Luckily for him, his answer came as they saw that the end of the corridor that they were running on, had two different paths at the end of it. "Nev, go right!" Maxwell ordered him the boy was panting heavily and he probably didn't have the breath to ask why. I need to chase after myself. He thought as they were about to reach the end of the corridor. Okay... I had an idea. In a split second, Max pointed his wand at the Three-headed dog and used a spell.
"Aguamenti." Maxwell decided to use Water-Making Spell, a charm that conjured a jet of clean, drinkable water from the tip of his wand. Thankfully, it had the desired purpose, which was to make the Three-headed dog even more feral, but the ferocity was directed at Maxwell rather than Neville. "Right! Right! Right!" The blond boy yelled at the other blond boy as they reached the end of the corrioder. Luckily, Nevilled obeyed Max and went to the right, while Maxwell went to the left, with the Three-headed dog following him behind him.
Now, Maxwell Antioch Peverell was the only one being chased by the Three-headed dog. Luckily, Maxwell was in good physical shape due to his grandfather's training and had enough cardio to be able to run for a considerable amount of time. But he really needed to find a way to get rid of the creature chasing after him. Unfortunately, he was so focused on trying not to trip or crash into something that he couldn't come up with any ideas. Which kind of backfired because his focus of trying to come up with anything also backfired as he wasn't paying attention to where exactly he was running towards it. Made it clear by the fact that he was clearly not on the third floor anymore. Where am I? He thought as looked around for reference points in order to see anything familiar about his location. Until he saw the bathroom where he saved Hermione from the Troll. I'm on the first floor?! There was no way that he was mistaking it. Bloody hell, my grandfather should give his training regime to Auror because I'm not even tired from all that running. He thought it humorous as he continued being chased by the XXXX creature through Hogwarts Castle.
It didn't take long for him to end up on the Ground Floor. Okay, forget getting rid of it, I need to hide somewhere. But Maxwell really couldn't think of any hiding place, or at least one that he could reach at this precise moment due to the direction that he was running towards it. This is the Kitchen corridor isn't it. The corridor was located on the basement level of Hogwarts Castle, and led to the Kitchens and the Hufflepuff Common Room. It could be accessed via the Entrance Hall, through the door on the left-hand side of the Marble Staircase, Maxwell probably entered without paying attention since he was focused on planning and running. Wait? Hufflepuff Common Room... If I could enter... The entrance to the common room was located in a nook on the right hand side of the kitchen corridor, concealed behind a stack of barrels. In order to reveal the entrance, no password was required. Instead, one must tap the barrel two from the bottom, middle of the second row, in the rhythm of "Helga Hufflepuff", which would make the lid swing open, exposing a passageway that would lead to the basement when crawled through.
Max actually secretly observed some students entering the Hufflepuff Basement, because he was having some... very... perverted ideas, with a very shameful desire to break into the Hufflepuff Basement to spy on Tonks. But he was able to control himself and forget about the disgusting idea. If I can just create a distraction... Oh I know! "Lumos Solem!" In a split second, Maxwell covered his eyes with his and used the Lumos Solem Spell to produce a blinding flash of sunlight. Once he uncovered his eyes, he saw that the Three-headed dog was barking angrily with its eyes closed, clearly blinded by the spell. YES! Wasting no time, Maxwell immediately made his way towards the entrance of the Hufflepuff Common Room. The loud and angry barks that were coming from the Cerberus only made Max nervous so he quickly moved towards the entrance in order and quickly tapped his wand on the specific barrel to the rhythm of Helga Hufflepuff. Please work... If the wrong lid was tapped or the wrong rhythm was used, the intruder would be doused in vinegar and barred access, which would mean the demise of Maxwell Peverell.
Thankfully, Maxwell got the rhythm right and the lid swinged open slowly. But the moment it started to open, the Cerberus recovered from the Lumos Solem Spell and immediately charged towards Maxwell. "Oh no!" Maxwell yelled as the Three-headed dog approached him quickly, and he tried to squeeze himself through the entrance. In pure desperation, Maxwell forced himself through the gap of the half-open door in order to enter. The moment that the Three-headed dog was about to bite him, the blond boy managed to enter the Hufflepuff Common Room. The boy fell on the floor the moment he entered through the entrance and quickly crawled away from it as the creature tried and failed to reach Maxwell by fitting one of its heads through the door but it didn't work.
The Gryffindor simply sat there, watching the Three-headed dog hopelessly trying to pass through the small entrance while barking loudly at him. The loud barks would probably wake the Hufflepuff Students, but honestly, he didn't care.
Looking around for a bit, Maxwell really liked the Hufflepuff Common Room. The actual basement itself was round, earthy, low-ceilinged, welcoming, warm, and sunny. There were lots of yellow hangings, burnished copper, and overstuffed sofas and armchairs upholstered in yellow and black, and small circular windows that provided a vista of rippling grass and dandelions. There was also a large, honey coloured, wooden mantelpiece with carvings of badgers on it. WHICH was located underneath a portrait of the house's founder, Helga Hufflepuff. Just by looking at her, I can tell that she was a lovely lady.
"What the hell?!" His prediction was correct as several of the Hufflepuff students heard the loud barks and went to check.
"WHAT IS THAT THING!?"
"Woah! It can't fit through can it?!"
"Is that Maxwell Peverell?"
"Was he fighting against that thing?"
"He fought a Troll to save one of his Housemates."
"Did that thing get inside like the Troll?!"
"The security in this castle is horrible if that's the case."
"What are we gonna do with that thing?!"
"Woah, his pajamas are really cute..."
"How did Peverell get into the Common Room?"
And more and more questions came from the Hufflepuff students. Not that Maxwell could blame them as the situation would be exceptionally confusing to anyone. Hell, it was confusing to Maxwell because this was simply supposed to be a simple book hunt.
"Are you okay?" Suddenly, an older student approached Maxwell. It was a tall and extremely handsome young man with chiselled features, dark hair, and bright grey eyes.
"Extremely tired from literally running from that Three-headed dog on the third floor, but unharmed." Maxwell bluntly stated to the older boy.
"That thing chased him from the third floor until here?!"
"Damn, that's some unbelievable stamina."
"Did he say Three-headed dog!?"
"How the bloody hell did a Three-headed dog get inside the Castle?!"
As they questioned the situation, the older boy extended his hand to help Max stand. "Come on, a chair is more suitable for you to rest."
Maxwell certainly agrees and he certainly won't pass the opportunity to sit on one of the really nice and comfortable looking chairs there. "Thanks... ummm..." He didn't know the boy's name.
"Cedric Diggory." The boy introduced himself while helping Maxwell stand.
"Maxwell, you are the son of Amos Diggory aren't you?" Amos Diggory was a British wizard who worked for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Maxwell met him on a few separate occasions and he mentioned that he had a son that was a Hufflepuff.
"Yes." He confirmed as led Maxwell to a nice looking chair next to the fireplace.
"What the hell is going on here?" Suddenly, his attention was invited towards a familiar voice, which turned out to be Tonks, exiting one of the rooms. Bloody Hell... She was wearing a baggy white shirt that covered her hips, but exposed her really nice looking legs. "Blondie?!" She immediately noticed his presence.
"Hey, Tonks." He greeted her as she approached the chair that he was sitting down on.
"What are yo-" She was about to ask what he was doing there, until he saw the big dog head trying to fit through the entrance. "WHAT THE!?"
"Short version; I was trying to get a book from the Restricted Section, but I had to hide to not get caught, so I entered a random room and Cerberus was inside and started to chase me all the way here from the third floor." He bluntly explained it to her, it was only half of the truth, but it was enough to explain what happened without giving too much information.
Her immediate reaction to that was to touch Maxwell's head and ask. "Are you okay?!" She asked in visible worry.
Much, much, much better now! Because the sight of Tonks' lovely legs immediately made this entire mess worth it. "Yes..." He told her as he enjoyed the feeling of Tonks's hand as she caressed his head. "I could use some water though."
Cedric immediately moved towards a table and grabbed a jug of water and poured it into a cup. "Here we go."
"Thanks..." Max appreciated it. "Ummm, can you guys call Professor Sprout to see if she can maybe contact the rest of the staff?" He asked after he drank all of the water and handed the cup back to Cedric.
"Yes, could you call her here Cedric?" Tonks asked as she looks at thestubborn dog that refuses to give up it's futile attempt to fit through the entrance.
"Ummm, Professor Sprout is not around, Nymphadora." As soon as Cedric said that, Tonks' hair turned red.
"Don't call me, Nymphadora!" She yelled at Cedric angrily.
The visibly frightened Cedric was immediately startled by what she said. "I'm so,so sorry, I forgot."
But Maxwell was not gonna pretend that he didn't heard that. "Your first name is Nymphadora?"
She touched her face in deep frustration before speaking. "Yes, but I really hate that name and prefer to be called Tonks instead." Nymphadora explained to Maxwell, making it clear that he would be on the receiving end of her wrath if he called her Nymphadora..
But Max didn't want to just call her Tonks, he wanted to have his own way of calling her, so he asked. "Would you have a problem if I called you Nym or Dora?"
...
...
...
She stared at him silently for almost a minute before responding. "You... can call Dora, if you like..." Strangely, Maxwell noticed that she seemed a little upset, for some reason. But Maxwell smiled in response to what she said, which made her give him a weak smile in response.
But then the blond boy asked. "What do you mean, Professor Sprout is not around?" He asked Cedric.
"She went to Hogsmeade to buy something, she said she'll be back in the morning." Cedric explained.
"Seriously?!"
"What are we gonna do with that!?"
"If it manages to get inside?!"
"There is no way it will actually get in."
As everyone questioned the situation. Maxwell Peverell took a deep breath and stood up from his seat and walked past Cedric Diggory and Nymphadora Tonks. He slowly walked towards the entrance where the Cerberus was pathetically trying to inside and prepared himself. Okay, what can I use...? He considered as he pointed his wand towards the head. Then he had an idea and decided to launch the Conjunctivitis Curse. Once it hit the head that was trying to fit through the door, it retreated after letting out a wince of pain. The door immediately closed afterwards, trapping the creature outside.
"Nice, Blondie." Nymphadora immediately praised Maxwell for getting rid of the head.
"Umm, shouldn't we warn someone about that?" Cedric asked in visible worry.
"Be my guest..." Maxwell was honestly done, he was tired and he was sure that Neville was safe, so he simply made his way to the comfortable chair to sit down again. Whatever is inside that box, it better be worth it. He thought in annoyance. "I don't think it will know the way out of the corridor, so, it's basically trapped until the staff can deal with it." I'm sure Hagrid can handle it... Especially if he was the one that brought it here. Maxwell actually realized that the only way that a Cerberus, a particularly rare creature, could have entered the castle, was if it was brought in by someone. And the only person in the castle that could possibly handle such a creature was Hagrid.
While everyone around him was arguing about the situation, Maxwell simply sat there, pondering with the conclusion that he just came to. Until he realized that he was really tired and really needed to sleep. So he positioned himself in the chair in order to take nap.
But his attempt was interrupted. "Come on, you can sleep on my bed." Nymphadora told him after gently poking his shoulder.
The tired boy only looked at her with his Blue-Green eyes before asking. "What about you?" In all honesty, he was actually hoping that they'll share it, but it was highly unlikely.
"I'm going to help the others in figuring out a way to warn the professors about the Three-headed dog." Nymphadora informed him.
Maxwell was disappointed, but... "Okay..." He accepted the offer.
The blond boy then stood up from the chair and Nynphadora wrapped her left arm around his shoulder in order to lead him towards the bedroom. Everyone was too busy arguing about how to deal with the situation, mostly because they could still hear the angry barks of the Cerberus.
"Good night, Maxwell." Cedric wished him.
"Good night, Cedric." He wished back.
Soon enough, Maxwell Peverell was taken towards an exceptionally comfortable looking bedroom by Nymphadora Tonks. Ironically, her bed was absurdly easy to identify, because of how messy it was in comparison to the others. As soon as they got close enough, the blond boy fell head forward into the bed. So... Soft... He thought in deep laziness as he felt the softness of Nymphadora's bed.
"You know, you must be the first person that didn't make a commentary about how messy my be is." She spoke in amusement.
"It's your bed, it's as messy as you want it to be." It was his response.
"Exactly." She replied.
With that, Tonks removed Max's shoes and placed next to the bed. Then she covered him with the blanket. "Get some rest, okay."
"Good night, Dora..." He said to her with his eyes close.
"Good night, Blondie."
He felt a really nice feeling on his cheek. Which was a kiss that Nymphadora gave him.
It only took a minute for Maxwell Peverell to fall asleep.
Thanks for reading this chapter, your support means the world to me.
Sorry for the lack of Alistair story, but it will come back on the next chapter.
Questions and Answers:
Wanted to ask with the Alistair and Lily segments is every single chapter going to have those because as nice as it is seeing the two together would like more of Maxwell story then every couple of chapters a segment showing a highlight of Alistair and Lily life together dates, meeting parents, holidays together things like that.
Chance to see a preview of Maxwell having some deep intimacy with his date or dates after the Yule ball in a private local.
Something like that.
Maybe on the next chapter.
Eager for some Luna content when you get to that.
Max and Luna will bond over their parents friendships during the second year. (Luna heard a lot of stories about her parents friendship with Max's dad.)
Hope you've planned a new chapter for this to come out soon. I to would like more of the chapter to be dedicated to Max.
I understand, and sorry for the time it took to update.
Obrigado pelo capítulo incrível Autor-San, mais um para coleção.
De nada.
So on the off chance Maxwell accompanied Angelo on state trips to other countries besides the USA I'm curious if on these trips Maxwell has been able to see visit some of the other magic schools in the world so while is the USA he got to visit Ilvermorny and then say on a trip to France he got to visit Beauxbaton then maybe at a stretch either Mahoutokoro or Uagadou
Course it's not just official visits Angelo could have taken Maxwell on they could have gone on simple holidays to a few countries
I also imagine if Angelo did go abroad and left Maxwell behind for those couple days Maxwell would stay with say the Malfoys, Greengrass or even Bones family
Or sometimes Maxwell would simply be left in the care of Dobby
By the way after re reading this chapter and how the Gryffindors gathered around Maxwell I might be underestimating how long it takes for Maxwell to essentially become king of the entire student body haha
Another thing I'm curious about is has say Draco and Daphne already invited Maxwell into the Slytherin common room and he in turn has brought them up to the Gryffindor common room and during his first year will we see say Nym or Susan invites Maxwell to come see the Hufflepuff common room and then he sees the Ravenclaw common room in year 2 when Luna starts
Speaking of living arrangements hope at some point Maxwell gets his own private room in the Gryffindor tower part of that Hogwarts acts differently for Maxwell haha even if the room of requirement itself essentially becomes Maxwell's room to
Going back to Nym I realised if she was going to treat Maxwell to what I said before she might go even beyond that when it comes to treating him at the end of the year haha
In regards to Sirius, James and Lupin or actually the first two to start have Sirius and James because of their own lack of children have they written Maxwell as the one who'd basically inherit their whole fortunes if either was to die I mean part of the Black fortune I imagine Sirius would allocate to Andromeda but Maxwell would still be the primary benefactor while if James died he'd get the whole potter fortune
I know the Peverell fortune is already the greatest in the world but it's a thought that occurred to me
Another thing I imagine because of how things went between Alistair and James after his relationship with Lily went public I imagine Angelo nowadays is fairly frosty towards James also with James and Sirius being out of the country as I said before likely turning over any rock to find Peter I'm surprised that Remus wouldn't be with them even as a werewolf I imagine the three would stick together in their hunt for Peter and then in year two when Maxwell sees Peters name on the Marauders map and tells his grandfather about it all three come running to start their hunt in the UK
Something else I thought about is year 3 are we still going to get someone breaking out of Azkaban because if anyone locked up in their could be capable of breaking out on their own I think it could be Bellatrix also yeah curious if her slavish devotion will be transferred to Maxwell after a few encounters haha
I'm also hoping at least in year 3 is when Maxwell has Nagini join him
Could we maybe get a preview of how close Maxwell will be with both the Delacour sisters haha
Maxwell's summers will be their own individual adventures, so the possibility is definitely there.
Maxwell usually spends the holidays with his friends due to his grandfather's work.
His first summer after his first year, he will go on a trip with the Malfoys.
Possibly.
He will eventually do just that on multiple occasions. Example: In the Ravenclaw's common room.
{
Eddie Carmichael: What are you doing here, Peverell?
Maxwell Peverell: This. (Throws a jab on his nose.)
Eddie Carmichael: AAHH! (Holds his nose in pain.)
Maxwell Peverell: (Draws his wand) Levicorpus
Eddie Carmichael: (Gets suspended by the ankles in the air.) "Hey!" (Rises him towards the ceiling and drops him.) "AAAAAAHHHHHHH!
Maxwell Peverell: Arresto Momentum (Stops him before he hits the floor.) If I find out that you did anything with Luna again, I'll let you hit the floor next time.
}
That could happen.
Some light stuff, at least until the third year.
Someone else will inherit the Black Fortune, I'm afraid, but she would gladly give it to Max if he requested.
Angelo is indeed a little apathetic towards James, it really angers him that James got like that with Alistair over a girl, especially a girl that made it clear that she wasn't interested in him. (Angelo adored Lily and constantly jokes that she had a personality that was similar to Alistair's mother, which indicates that Peverell's have specific taste in woman.)
Bellatrix only loves Voldemort, but... Her slavish devotion did got transferred to someone...
Nah...
I already put a preview on this chapter but it does shows how close he is with one of the sisters.
Can we get more Maxwell and less Alistair please
Some people are asking for the opposite, so...
Here's a very random question, if you don't mind me asking of course.
By the way you are writing James and Severus. I was wondering what is your opinion about a certain subject, which is the fact that some people vilify James and glorify Severus, despite their respective different choices and paths they took.
I was just wondering what is your opinion on the matter.
That is indeed a very random question but I kind of understand it.
You see, it's kind of easy to downplay Severus's flaws and top overplay James's flaws.
Let me explain, when you take a look on both characters:
James: rich,handsome,talented, popular, had parents that loved, spoiled and pampered him, had loyal friends that held candles for him years after his death, had a lot of girls interested in him but he just wanted one and he ended up with that girl in the end despite her rejecting his ass on multiple occasions (A lot of people view his and Lily's relationship as a very disgusting case of a spoiled brat getting what he wanted and as a even more disgusting case of a guy getting rewarded for harassment {If a girl rejected you multiple times and you keep chasing it turns into harassment}.) , and died with everyone seeing him as a hero and looked up by everyone as looking up to him as always. {It doesn't help that the only the only sources of info on this so- called "maturity" are his friends, who's word can't exactly be taken completely into consideration since Sirius was a major asskisser to James and was even worse than him, and Remus wouldn't speak ill of a dead friend.}
Severus: ugly, poor, not so talented but hard-working, very unpopular and victim of bullying {The Shrieking Shack and the O.W.L.s incidents are not exactly pleasant signs of the type of shit that the Marauders did to him and part of me still a bit afraid to know about the things they did to him off page.}, had parents that neglected (Possibly abused) him, had one actual friend (Lily, but I'm gonna be honest, I don't think Lily was that good of a friend towards him, because in the few scenes between the two, she came off as little judgmental (It was justified but still) and way too quick to defend the Marauders {Even practically joining them later on}.) but a number of toxic individuals pretending to be his friends (Basically every aspiring Death Eater), was hopelessly in love with his best friend but never had a chance with her (J.K Rollings actually confirmed that Lily was always attracted to James despite him being an arrogant bully.) and was later forced to watch her marry a guy he absolutely despised. Had to spent several years living with the guilt of indirectly causing her death and was manipulated by Dumbledore into protecting the last piece of her in the world, Harry. Until he was brutally killed by Voldemort and basically died with everyone seeing him as the one who murdered Dumbledore.
To answer your question.
James just had everything going for him in his life and his "improvement" just feels, meh. Especially since we never actually saw it. Most get the picture of James Potter as douchebag asshole that got everything handed to him without earning or deserving it, who ended up with the girl he wanted despite spending years harassing her and bullying her best friend (Apparently in front of her multiple times) because of a sudden "maturity" that his friends claim that he went through. The only thing that Severus did better than him, was the fact that he lived longer (An empty and clearly miserable life that ended violently while James had a short but happy life getting everything he wanted and died a quick and arguably painless death).
Severus just had nothing going for him in his life, and absolutely nothing in his life went his way {Unless you consider becoming a Death Eater, but he did that more out of a desire of being special rather than the Blood-Purity nonsense and it backfired horribly in the end in many painful ways} so watching going through all that shit for a woman that didn't even care for him anymore by the time she died is really touching. Despite everything he did, his dedication to Lily despite everything was really beautiful. (A lot of people also love to point out his love for Lily was actually just an obsession. I personally think it was both, I think he genuinely loved her {I doubt his Patronus would have changed otherwise because I don't think it works that way.} but it turned into an obsession after she died, especially with the added fact that it was partially his fault.)
{Side Note: I personally can identify with Severus, as a guy who was a victim of severe bullying and also had to watch his first love {So far, the only one to be frank} end up with his major bully. Trust me, that shit can cause a lot of damage. And god knows how I would have ended up as if I didn't have much going for me in life like Severus did.}
Like the story so far very intriguing. So is Max going to be an animagus and if so by what year will he become one and will it be connected to his patronus. With the harem are characters like Ginny Luna and Cho in and on that note will we see other not so prominent characters like Hannah Abbott, Susan Bones and the girls on the Gryffindor quiditch team join in. Glad you are having Max not take any bullshit from Ron in year 4, on that note will he be jealous of not just because of his popularity boost friendship with Krum and with how close he will be to Fluer and Gabrielle but will he also have a crush by that year on Hermione like he did the original series? Any chance we can get to see a sneak peek of his escapades with Tonks Fluer or any of the girls in the harem and a peak of what valentines day will be for him in chamber of secrets? And who is going to fall for him first Daphine or Hermione? Any chance we get to see him knock some sense into Percy's poumpus ass?
I'm glad to hear that. Yes, Maxwell will be an animagus later. Yes, and one of the two is the Hufflepuff Vampire in the preview down there. Like I said, Maxwell has a whole family that are better than everyone else in something and he's trying to measure up to them somehow while Ron only whines and complains that his brothers and sister are better than him in specific things, and I don't think so, it's kind of obvious that Hermione is way closer to Max than him due to his lack of presence in the Troll incident. Preview in the end of the chapter... Daphne already kind of does and Hermione will get there later. Percy looks up to Maxwell's grandfather, who chastises him for looking down on his family.
Would think that since it involves HIS family, Max would demand to know about the mysterious box Daphen has, and why she had him retrieve it yet denies him the answers to it. That would piss me off
Maxwell is used to Daphne's secrecy.
Can I say with Draco hope his sixth year is less… let's call it stress inducing and also in his third year he doesn't get his arm cut by Buckbeak instead he's actually able to somewhat enjoy that lesson and side benefit Hagrid gets to keep putting on the care for magical creatures lessons he wants
I also hope we learn that whenever Draco plays a Quidditch match against one of the others house Maxwell cheers him similar to how Draco would cheer Max on when he's not playing Slytherin
With year 4 one I'm glad Maxwell isn't going to put up with Ron's whining, two he'll enter of his own will and be the official Hogwarts champion and have the school rally around him, three like that he'll strike up a friendship with Krum easily and will be getting close to both the Delacour sisters
Now while the school will think Maxwell being their champion means a automatic win I hope Maxwell while desiring to win himself as you said winning the tri wizard cup is something non of his ancestors have ever done he understands him winning isn't a guarantee
With the tasks being different I hope he at least still gets to confront the Hungarian Horntail and stun everyone by acting with sheer joy on seeing it and then taking it home with him
Speaking of Dragons quickly hope if one of the Dragons living on his estate is a Ironbelly it's the one that Gringotts would have had but Angelo forbade the bank from keeping beasts in the condition the Goblins did so the Ironbelly instead of being half blind and all that is a healthy dragon
With the Goblins to hope past Peverells have been able to limit the control the Goblins have over the bank doesn't seem like a good idea to have a race that generally seems to hate wizard kind running the banks completely unrestricted but say the Goblin kind overall enjoy better treatment in this world thanks to the Peverells but they still don't have wands side note I have a personal theory that some beings like Goblins might not actually be able to use wands in the first place in the hundreds of years the magic community has been around you can't tell me no Goblin hasn't ever got their hands on a wand or some wand maker has tried to make them wands
I just think the Goblins being the prideful people they are refuse to admit they can't use wands oh and I imagine past Peverells would have made it very clear to the Goblins who the rightful owner of the Sword of Gryffindor is
This reminds me hope Maxwell is able to lessen Hermione's righteousness over the house elf situation noting his grandfather has brought in some more protections for them but that house Elves are genuinely happy being subservient to wizard kind and how her wanting to free them all is actually insulting them in other words he helps her side step the whole Spew debacle
With Maxwell being made a Prefect glad that'll be a thing but I don't think Angelo would have to request it I mean he can but I can picture Albus and Minerva turning to him and just saying we where going to make him the Prefect anyway and telling him he's almost certainly going to be Head Boy to
Maxwell actually stays in the class and helps Hadrid with the classes in order to make it more safe.
Despite their friendship, Draco would never be caught cheering for Gryffindor.
Max is much less sympathetic for Ron's whining because he's much more aware of the fact that Ron's entire problems are purely a result of his poor self-esteem due to his belief that he can't live up to his older brothers' reputations and because he doesn't apply himself as much as he should and often relies on Hermione or him for help with his homework.
Maxwell is actually afraid once he discovers that his grandfather added challenges to the competition as Angelo is the type of guy that goes overboard. (Though I can't decide if it should be two or three challenges that Angelo adds.)
Sadly, he can't...
{
Max: (Raises his left hand.) Can I keep the carcass if I kill it?
(Everyone looks at him dumbfounded.)
Angelo: Maxwell, for the love of everything that is good and magical, don't kill the dragon unless it is absolutely necessary, because we simply borrowed them for the competition and we are expected to return them afterwards."
Max: (Sighed in disappointment) Okay...
}
The impact of the Peverells around the Wizarding World will be revealed through bits and pieces that you'll have to fit together yourself.
Maxwell actually thinks the whole idea is somewhat understandable but stupid. Dobby would literally kill himself if Max even thought about freeing him and a lot of the House Elves don't have anywhere else to go if freed.
He would continue the cycle since Angelo and Alistair were also head boys.
It's a simple chapter yet nothing outstanding. I admit that Maxwell's story isn't that interesting right now. (The story at this point is just the introduction. The story will be more intense later.) While the story of parents are busy with keeping the secret of the couple
Hope their son's love story would be interesting too
-I wonder who fell in love with who first, Maxwell or Hermione?
-is it possible that Grindelwald could be Maxwell's secret teacher.
-Will Ginny and Luna join Maxwell?
I don't see you good after noon, good evening, and good night.
Maxwell's love story will be beyond complicated.
Technically Maxwell...
What?
Yes, in the second year. (Him and Luna will kind of have a connection due the deep friendship that Alistair had with her parents.)
You know I was literally itching to see this updated especially after that Hogwarts Legacy state of play video
Loved getting the aftermath of Maxwell single handily taking down the Troll and Draco getting some fun out of spreading the more outlandish tales about how Max did it
Do wonder how long it'll be before Daphne says fuck it Maxwell help me with this dam box especially since it is connected to his grandma's family which had been a question in the back of my mind for a while kinda weird thought I think that Maxwell doesn't know what family his grandmother is from considering he says he knows a good deal about her and the fact Daphne found out what family she was from before him so yeah bit strange that
Now I say when it came to the fist fight glad Maxwell came out better than Blaise and he got lucky that he backed down before they started fighting with magic Maxwell alone would have crushed him and with Daphne well he'd be lucky if Daphne showed mercy I think haha
Glad that Maxwell is only suspicious of Quirrel and liked him setting the twins on Blaise
Haha okay that scene where all Maxwells Gryffindor classmates crowed around him and seemed raring to go to get payback for him showed me Maxwell is already essentially the King of the Gryffindor first years which makes sense heck I'm expecting that by the end of the first year he'll be the king of all the younger sat Hogwarts and by the end of his third year king of all the years haha
Draco's reaction was fitting to and noted how civil he was with Hermione again love the positive influence Max has had on Draco and I like to think Draco was smiling over the idea of Maxwell kicking Blaise's ass
One thing is also for certain Zabini with that sucker punch has certainly effected his standing with all the other students oh and as for Draco and Daphne being at olds to me I think it's just the fact Draco is going to be Daphne's brother in law haha
Also speaking of Draco would have figured he'd definitely be one of the ones Maxwell confides his suspicions about Quirrel with Daphne to for that matter as well
Loved Maxwells simple reply to Hermione after he summoned the Skytear oh and cool Broom by the way
Liked Pansy's introduction to the story to one nice to have it acknowledged that she's pretty and that Maxwell did get why she'd want to give Neville a hard time what with all the bruises and all hope Maxwell's and Pansy's next interaction is more pleasant and liked Maxwell getting to show off his seeker skills
Loved to how casual Maxwell was when taking Hermione's slight lecture ie unaffected haha and good that Maxwell's efforts got him on the Quidditch team
You know I imagine Al and Lily would be delighted to know that one day their son and Xeno and Pandora's daughter will get together as for Alistair and Lily keeping their relationship secret at first probably best Alistair soon tells James soon kinda like a better to rip the band aid off now rather than put it off
I mean James is going to be bitter about it anyway so I'm guessing due to not getting over his bitterness towards Alistair till he actually died James currently feels a lot of guilt over how he acted thinking about also what could have been different if he buried the hatchet with Al perhaps even feeling ashamed to see Maxwell hence why James might be the Marauder Maxwell knows the least except for Peter of course
So am I right in thinking then that Sirius, James and Remus are on a worldwide hunt for Peter then in which case I imagine the three will come running then in Maxwell's second year when he sees Peters name on the map and informs his grandfather about it
With Voldemort taking more pride in his Peverell heritage I can see Maxwell potentially mockingly referring to him as cousin and I can see Voldemorts desire to kill Maxwell himself not being just because of his narcissism in wanting to kill him himself but also him privately acknowledging he's the only one who could kill Maxwell with how talented he is anyway but of course he'll deny claims that Maxwell is more talented as himself
Also thanks for confirming it's not just Godric Maxwell can claim decedent from but also Salazar thanks to that Gaunt who married into the family and yeah think it's also likely Helga is another ancestor
So yeah eager for when Hogwarts reveals the room of requirement to Maxwell hopefully soon and eager to see how the castle answers to Maxwell
Confirming Callista is based off the the Doll waifu from Bloodborne just makes me hope for her to be in the pairing all the more even if currently she's like a sister haha
If I still had my gaming channel on YouTube, I would definitely do a playthrough with my character looking like Maxwell.
Draco loves the benefits of being Max's Bff.
Max never look much into his grandmother's family, her life is just so filled with interesting things that he never bothered to look at the boring stuff.
Maxwell is an average fighter but he's a exceptional duelist. If it came down to that, Blaise would have been destroyed.
Yup...
He's that type of guy that people want to be around.
Draco is smart enough to not say the usual bigotry shit that he does because Max will take none of it.
Not that much, they just think that it's beyond stupid to piss off someone from a family as influential as the Peverells.
Daphne was busy and Draco would probably tell everyone in Slytherin that Quirell let the troll inside the school.
I needed something that added to the Peverrel's uniqueness. Maxwell has a pretty flashy and over- the- top style of flying that most people actually look enjoy watching.
Don't worry, their next interaction will be less hostile.
She'll lecture him quite a lot...
Al's friendship with her parents actually will mirror Max's and Luna's relationship in a way. (Like Luna developing a habit of feeding Max like her parents did with Al.) Yeah, but Al is kind of afraid of his reaction.
He'll get along with almost all of the Marauders and develops a habit of calling them uncles. (He likes Remus the most because he is his Godfather.)
Not quite...
If I have to be completely honest with you... Maxwell and Voldemort are equals when it comes to magical talent, the difference is that Maxwell had all the resources to make the best use of his talents, which is the main advantage that he has over Voldemort.
He is a direct descendant of Godric but an indirectly descendant of Salazar.
You'll be surprised...
She's going to get more along with Luna and his Hufflepuff friend though.
If you do a preview over on this hope it's one in year five and it has Maxwell with a few of the girls like Hermione, Luna, Daphne whoever.
Fine: {This happens on the Fifth Year.}
{
As he struggled to fall asleep after abruptly waking up, Maxwell couldn't shake the strange feeling off his head. His scar keeps hurting at random, sometimes an uncomfortable pain, sometimes an almost unbearable pain. But what really annoyed him, was the lack of knowledge on the reason to why.
"Mmm..." Moving his head to left, he noticed that Ginny was sleeping on his bed with her head on his arm. Maxwell actually noticed her coming but didn't say anything as she joined him on the bed that he was in. Usually, he would just tell her to go back to her room but 12 Grimmauld Place just felt odd to him, so he welcomed the company. He could see Ron, sleeping deeply on the other bed at the end of the room. Maxwell then decided to move his head to the right.
Only to get startled by heavily lidded eyes staring at him. With her knees on the floor and her arms resting on the edge of the bed, there she was, Delphini Lestrange. She waved at him with a smile that was identical to her mother's."What are you doing?" Maxwell whispered a question at the daughter of Rodolphus and Bellatrix Lestrange.
"Watching you sleep." She replied to him like there was nothing strange about it. Before she stood up, and allowing Maxwell to notice that she was wearing his red shirt, but then he noticed that her black knickers were exposed as the shirt only partially covered her hips.
Any respectful person would have turn away, but sadly, Maxwell Peverell couldn't stop looking. Not that she minded since she lifted the shirt partially to allow him to get a better view of her knickers . Giving him a smirk as she did, she slowly lifted the shirt as he stares at her. Despite my opinions about her mother, I cannot deny it. Him or anyone really. Great good looks is an understatement. The blond boy thought as he sees the girl that it's the spitting image of her psychotic mother, expose her belly to him and watching with anticipation as she's about to expose her chest to him.
Unfortunately, it was interrupted by the sound of the door. Maxwell was immediately fearful that it was Delphi's godfather, so he slowly moved his head look who was it. For his relief and confusion, the one standing at the door was Gabrielle Delacour wearing an adorable dark blue nightgown that perfectly matched her eyes while carrying it a pillow. The blond boy and the dark haired girl only stared at the Quarter-Veela for a bit, wondering what exactly did she want. Until, she wordlessly moved from the door frame and made her way towards Maxwell's bed, and without any type of warning, climbed on top of the bed and placed pillow besides before she laid next to him. "Ce n'est pas juste qu'elle couche avec toi." She spoke something in french that he did not understood at all.
All that the Peverell boy could do, was sigh and gently pat the Silvery-blonde haired girl as she falls asleep quickly and he waits for her sister to bust into the room angrily in search of her. However, instead of seeing the other Delacour sister entering the room, he saw someone else coming out from under his bed. "Why were you under my bed?" Maxwell asked as the one under his bed was none other than his vampire friend.
"This is the darkest room in the house." The Hufflepuff girl told the Gryffindor before she did something. "Excuse me.'
"Wai-" Maxwell tried to ask her to wait a bit, but she grabbed his arm and carved her fangs in to suck his blood like she always do. The blond boy was about to scream in pain from the bite, but Delphini immediately placed her hand on his mouth to not awake the girls, which he accidentally ended up biting it hard in order to dull the pain. Despite the fact that he was literally carving his teeth into her skin, she actually smiled in response to it, apparently taking some type of masochistic pleasure from it.
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" However, Ginny also felt the pain and it caused her to scream in agony due to the vampire bite. The scream startled Ron and caused him to fall out of his bed. Gabriella also awoke from her sleep in frightened.
Luckily, the blood sucking session ended and she pulled her fangs off Maxwell's forearm. "Delicious..." She commented as she seems deeply satisfied. "Thank you." The vampire kissed him on the cheek afterwords.
"YOU!" Ginny angrily stood up from the bed in order to pursue her.
"Hey, I'm sorry," The Hufflepuff Vampire decided to run away from her as she knew what it was coming. "I was hungry!" She yelled as she ran out of the room frighted with Ginny running after her.
Maxwell then pushed Delphini's hand off his mouth and he realized that his teeth carved deeply into her skin. "I'm so sorry..." He apologized to her as he gently held her hand.
Delphi just chuckled in response before she took Ginny's previous spot and approached his ear. "Don't be silly, you can hurt me whenever you like." She whispered on his ear in a very seductive tone before she licked his ear and placed her hand inside his shirt in order to touch his scar.
"Ummm..." Maxwell had to admit, that made him blush a bit because of images of very inappropriate things revolving Delphi's desire to be hurt appeared on his head.
Ron rolled his eyes in deep annoyance as he climbed back into his bed, probably because he was jealous.
Suddenly, Tonks appeared at the door with a wand at hand. "Is everyone okay?!" The Auror asked the boys and girls inside the room, but as soon as she passed through the door frame, she tripped like always. Before Maxwell could respond and ask if she was okay, he moved his head to look at her. Only to get the glimpse of a half-naked Nymphadora who was only wearing a yellow bra and purple knickers that seemed to be sporty type , which allowed Maxwell to take very good look at her fit and athletic body as she stood up from the floor.
"Bloody hell..." Maxwell spoke as he sees Nymphadora. The training that she received certainly had a lot of benefits.
"What?" She asked in confusion, before she looked at her state of clothing, she rolled her eyes a bit before saying. "The less clothes on, the more comfortably I sleep, Blondie."
"Good to know." Ron commented as he also stares at her. Which kind of made Max a little annoyed as he still remember his commentaries about her being just okay looking in comparison to Fleur.
"Take a good look, because you're not getting a second glimpse of it." Nymphadora stated to Ron in a slight annoyance as she actually overheard when he made those mean comments about her appearance.
"What about me?" Maxwell asked as the two girls that were laying besides him look at him with annoyed faces.
"You already got more glimpses than anyone else ever did, Blondie." Nymphadora told the boy with a similar smirk. "But if you're interesting in cuddling with me again, my door is always open." She spoke with a certain suggestiveness in her voice and gave him a wink.
"Oh come on!" Ron spoke in annoyance before he laid on his bed again.
"Don't worry, you'll find someone someday." Maxwell reassured him.
"When you stop being a shallow bloke, of course." Nymphadora couldn't help but add that part.
"And when he stops shoving food inside his mouth like an starving beast." Delphi added as she sniffed Maxwell's hair.
"Et whén 'é stops lookeng at girls wiv a disgusteng face 'é makes." Gabrielle spoke in a strong french accent before she hugged Max's arm. "My seestair ahctually said zat she would hex heem eef she caught heem stahreeng aht hair one mahre time."
"What did she say?" Nymphadora asked Max as she didn't understood her.
"My sister actually said that she would hex him if she caught him staring at her one more time." Max translated her strong accent to Nym. Fleur would definitely do that, and he wouldn't even be able to complain since Ron is kind of acting creepy around her. But it's not really his fault, it's simply the fact that Fleur's allure got stronger after their connection was completed.
She burst into laughter in response.
Ron covered himself completely with the blanked in deep annoyance and a bit of shame after what Maxwell said about Fleur.
"Hey, I heard so-" Suddenly, his uncle Sirius appeared at the door and took a good look at the scene that was happening at the moment. A weird and awkward pause ensured as everyone looked at Sirius, until... "I'm so proud of you, pup!" He told the blond boy while giving him a big smile and a thumbs up.
Both Nymphadora and Maxwell rolled their eyes in response before speaking. Delphi just chuckled and Gabriella just hugged Maxwell's arm tightly
The blond boy then decided to say something to the Slytherin girl. "Delphi, you better get out of here before Regulus come-."
"Too late." Sirius interrupted her as he sees Delphi's godfather standing at the door with his arms folded. "Hey, little brother."
