Chapter 2: Unconscious
What is going on? was the first thing I thought.
Why is everything black? Oh Merlin, did I die? Wait no…that wouldn't make sense.
Memories of that night flooded my semi-conscious mind. The oppressive darkness (not unlike what I'm experiencing now I thought bitterly), the desperation, the red light…
Aha, I thought. The light was red, not green. So I was just stunned. But by whom…
I struggled to remember details of that night. It hurt to think… That must have been some Stunner. What was I doing? I was with…Harry! What happened?
.:Flashback:.
"Harry, are you sure about this?" I asked for the umpteenth time that night. "Shouldn't we tell the Order where we are?"
He shot me an exasperated look. "We'll just tell them that we had some difficulty with the Dursleys before we left. That's a legitimate reason for us to be late."
It was August 1st, a day after Harry's seventeenth birthday. He requested that I come to meet at the 4 Privet Drive that night in order to make the trip to the Burrow together. For lack of better judgment, I agreed. I snuck out of my house after supper. There was no way my parents would have agreed to let me go. They've been more protective than ever since Dumbledore's death. That was before I found out what we were going to be doing.
"Why don't we go after we meet up with the Order?" I insisted.
A pause. And then "It's just something I have to do without them."
I sighed and nodded, understanding a little. "Why did you want me to come with you? What about Ron? Surely he'll be upset that you didn't tell him to come along."
His face became closed off and he didn't answer the question. In fact, he didn't answer any of my questions for the rest of the trek. He didn't say anything until we got to our destination.
"Here we are," he said with a forlorn look in his eyes. "Godric's Hollow."
.:End Flashback:.
I mentally scoff. Turns out it wasn't as hollow as its name suggests. It was swarming with Death Eaters. Voldemort must have anticipated that Harry would venture back to where his parents died. As much as I love Harry, he really is too predictable.
I smile a bit. Then I go back to analyzing the situation, the only thing I can do in this state.
Alright, so if I'm not dead, then they must have captured me. My eyes would have widened if they could have. They could have captured Harry too! Please, let him be alive and well…
I wish I knew who cursed me! I thought vehemently. He'll certainly get what he deserves once I get out of here. Where am I anyway…
Suddenly, I heard voices permeate my coma-like state. Who do those voices belong to? Wait, I recognize that condescending tone. Could it be…
"—master. I—to—liking."
Damn it, what are they saying. One thing's for sure, that's definitely Malfoy.
"Well done—be—plan. Potter—demise—friend."
Oh no, that's Voldemort! They're going to attack Harry! What plan?
"—cast—now? She—waking up."
Now who are they talking about? Could they be talking about…
"Yes—now. Make sure—right.—essential—plan."
…me?
"Tardus deleo animus! Novo hominem de sententia!"
At least I heard what spell they cast on me…was the last thing I thought before I slipped back into full unconsciousness.
..:To be continued:..
