Author's Note and Synopsis: A drabble in an attempt to capture why Susan thought Narnia was nothing but an illusion. How can she deny what she sees in the mirror?

Mirror Illusions

She never understood herself or the person staring back at her from the mirror. Everything was a facade, but for what it was worth, it was truly beautiful. She was garbed in the finest silk and precious jewels. She was hailed the Gentle Maiden of the Lands. She had believed that everything was real and that it was all going to be perfect. Utopia shall reign and happiness shall transcend through the Golden Age. How easily she was fooled by gallant words and gracious bows.

And so, how could she cope with the reality that her entire existence was nothing but an illusion? How could she look into the mirror and face the fact that she was no longer in her sparkling crown and embroidered dresses? How could she hold on to the sweet nothings when she is once again, in the body of a young teenager girl barely in full bloom?

So, she hides and tries to recreate the illusions of glorious days but no cosmetics shall ever bring back the brilliance of what it could have been. For her, the mirror image does not show a queen, only a mere teenager dressed in the latest fashion from the Americas, ready for another round of merry dancing with her charming beaus.
