It wasn't planned. Neither of them even saw it coming.
Greg walked Sara out to her car, like he did almost every night now that they were working together full time. It was just convenient, and Greg was taught to never let a woman walk in a parking lot alone, no matter where she was.
The sky is gray with heavy clouds. There had been warnings for flash floods all weekend, but no rain yet.
One second Sara is talking to Greg about the case they just wrapped up while she fishes for her keys and the next? Greg's pushing Sara's body up against her car door and his body up against hers.
Greg hears the gasp come from Sara's lips, even though he knows he hasn't hurt her. He looks down at her as she removes her hand from her purse, her face already forming a questioning gaze.
Greg closes his eyes, pushes himself closer to Sara and kisses her. It's not hard or aggressive like the way he pushed her up against the car made it seem like it would be.
It's sweet. Greg starts out softly, tenderly, barely pressing his lips against Sara's. She momentarily tries to brace herself against the door handle that is uncomfortable, but then Greg feels Sara drop her bag and slowly wind her arms around Greg's shoulders, so he deepens the kiss.
Greg puts his arms on the cool metal of the car on either side of Sara, putting his full weight on top of her. He breaks the kiss, only for an instant, but Sara's arms around his shoulders bring him back down to her mouth.
As Greg prods her mouth open with a quick, fervent push of his tongue against her lips, the sky opens up. The parking lot is instantly darker as the rain pours down, but neither Greg nor Sara notice.
Greg gently pulls away from Sara, kissing one side of her mouth and then the other. He takes his hands away from the car and brings them to her hair. Greg kisses both her eyelids, her nose, and starts his way up to her earlobe, touching her face gently. It's only then that he can feel her teeth clenching and unclenching his did the night before a really big test in college.
"Sara?" Greg asks, pulling away completely and looking at the woman trapped against the car. "Stop thinking." Greg says, laughing as he brings his lips down to meet hers again.
