-Chapter 7: Earth's God-
AN: We hit a thousand views! Yay! Just saw that today and thought I should mention it. I really didn't know what I wanted to do for this chapter, I've set it up so I have a ton of different things I could write about. There's a bunch of different backstories I could write about, characters left alive from Mushoku Tensei and what they're doing now that Rudeus is dead (supposedly), or I could write this story. I thought about setting up a pole on it but considering that no one has commented yet I doubt that many of the viewers of this story would answer a pole (especially considering I don't know how to set up a pole). Well, at least I did get the chapter in. I'm also considering a rewrite of chapter one because my skills have considerably improved since then and some viewers might stop reading if they judge my series purely off the first chapter. Is it that bad? I can't tell very well because I'm the author, so I have a biased viewpoint. Anyways, enjoy!
-Nesura POV-
Hitogami's data has arrived, it's a relief that the souls I sent over to Hitogami are still safe. I expected him to let one of their souls be farmed for mana, he's a very greedy man and Rudeus has a lot of mana. I told him to continue reincarnating them when they die so we can get more research data. Fortunately for me, he has abided that wish, if he kills either of them it may harm my plan for his defeat. I sent Rudeus and Nanahoshi over for the plan and I'm not letting them back here until Hitogami is dead, Rudeus seems to want to stay in that world, but Nanahoshi wants to return to her family. I cannot let her as she is necessary to the defeat of Hitogami, other than that she has been doing as intended, she has given Rudeus a connection to Orsted, who is the son of my friend.
A long, long time ago back when Hitogami made his rise to godhood, I guided Orsted's soul back into the world as requested of my friend. He sent a message with a magic circle that couldn't be read by Hitogami, back then Hitogami didn't know how to use his powers to well and couldn't pick up on signals that gods commonly use, he still hasn't been taught how to make a signal that comes all the way to my world, as such he ingrains information into souls who've lost their bodies. It's a sorry sight to see a soul as messed up as these. I'd teach him how to properly send a signal because he wouldn't think an enemy would teach him valuable lessons, but if I did teach him, he would become even harder for Rudeus and Nanahoshi to defeat. As such, unfortunate souls such as this suffering one have been sent to me over the course of thousands of years.
I would fight Hitogami in a one-on-one fight, but I'm not much of a fighter, I haven't been fueling myself on souls like he and most of the other gods have. This has resulted in myself having a weak mana capacity, there are other ways to gain a bigger mana capacity that I could try, one of such would be the Laplace aspect Rudeus has but such things don't exist in my world… There's also defeating other gods and taking their mana capacity, but I also don't want to defeat my fellow gods… Other than Hitogami. I'll rip him to pieces. The only way I can gain mana is when someone willfully gives me some of their mana. Many of my people have given me fractions of their mana, they wouldn't be able to use their mana right now anyways with Earth's lack of a mana system. Maybe once Hitogami is defeated I will be able to give them a mana capacity. Granted if I don't find a way for them to survive mana sickness that Hitogami's people experienced a long time ago I won't do it. I don't have the view of my world that Hitogami does because of the lack of mana here but based on the people that have come to me in death's stories I can make out that Earth is quite advanced compared to Hitogami's world (I have access to information on Hitogami's world with the reports he sends me). Humans may be able to survive simply by making a cure themselves. Perhaps I could make some version of Sokasu grass and show someone how to make the tea? It wouldn't be the first time I've shown my people the ropes.
Based on the data Hitogami sent me: Rudeus has reincarnated with this "Technique God", even sharing a body with him. It seems Hitogami has done as I've requested again, I don't know who the technique god is, but I requested that Hitogami reincarnate Rudeus with someone who can make him even more powerful. I hope that the Technique God isn't one of the gods that controls a world like me and Hitogami because that would mean Hitogami is stronger than I ever thought he was. If Hitogami is capable of reincarnating someone with that much mana this battle is hopeless. I'm hoping that it's just another title given to a powerful person of that world like so many others. Maybe it's like one of the "god gamers" from my world. I've gotten enough data on them from souls for a while… If he's like one of these types of gods, it's merely a title and nothing more to me. Although, if that really is all this individual has to offer then Hitogami hasn't done as requested. I did always have my suspicions that Hitogami was going to rebel against us other gods. He has already eliminated six of us after all. If I were capable of killing him, I would've but there aren't many gods with the might of six other gods in them, I don't have the best of mana capacities personally. When the other gods died Dragon-God was blamed for their deaths. I know better, I know that he would never do such a thing under normal circumstances. I was also informed of what was happening with Hitogami by him when he sent that last dying message. I don't know how Hitogami is planning to take power from more gods, but I suspect that if he gains even one more god's power it may be near impossible for me to stop him.
This is why I must take the drastic measures that I have. Hitogami must be ended. I doubt Hitogami ever plans on bothering me because I have so little mana, so at least I'm safe from him in that sense, I think. I was able to supply the time travelling Rudeus with the necessary mana but not enough to keep him alive through the process unfortunately. Luckily, I was able to avoid Hitogami noticing with the help of Orsted's Hitogami protection. I secretly talked with Orsted and told him what was necessary to defeat Hitogami and why Rudeus is here. He obliged as he also had a certain hatred for Hitogami (and probably because he thinks he can do it all over anyways, that loop was definitely a dud). Orsted doesn't remember any of that as it wasn't his loop that made the world go back this time. I can't meet Rudeus or Orsted again because Hitogami seemingly has high suspicions of me considering that right after I said I had some business in my world to attend to and couldn't talk to him Rudeus time travelled… It was an unfortunate sacrifice I had to make.
On the bright side Rudeus has kept some of the Hitogami resistance given to him by Orsted. This means that it will be harder for Hitogami to pinpoint that I'm the one plotting against him. If he does realize that it was me, he may very well come and take my mana capacity, and that would destroy my world… and me. Probably, my world isn't quite as reliant on mana as the rest of the worlds but a benefit of that lack of mana, is that my people are more advanced than Hitogami's in the technology sense. It's a useful point if I ever have to go to war with Hitogami's world. That's my last line of defense, my people's weapons. I don't wish for people to fight that way; it brings a lot of unnecessary death and misery. It would even be bigger than the two world wars that have already occurred. It would be a multi-world war as you could say. I'm hoping that if a war like that occurs then I'll be able to get Rudeus and Orsted onto my side. It'd be a battle against Hitogami so it should line up with their goals.
I just hope what I did before doesn't mess everything up…
-Flashback-
"Hello, Nesura," a voice called out from behind me, like a little girl greeting a friend. It was the god of monsters, her world contained nothing but a bunch of mana and their prey. She was probably going to ask me if she can send monsters into my world to harm my people again. I was, of course, going to refuse her.
"If this is the same question as before the answer is no." I answered annoyed.
"I was just going to ask you if I can send monsters to your world!" the girl said beggingly.
"And the answer is no, you and Hitogami can mess with monsters all you want but I'm not allowing them in my world. It's my choice and I'm not going to change my opinion on that anytime soon." I responded with the same thing that I've said countless times before. "Why don't you go talk to Hitogami about putting some different kind of monster in his world like you always do?"
"Hitogami said he's dealing with some stuff right now, so it wasn't a good time." she replied sadly.
"Well, that's what happens to those of us that actually have to do something. We don't have time to go between worlds like you do and make giant freaking creatures to tear our people to shreds!" I shouted angrily.
"Well, Hitogami said that I need to contact you before putting a big scary monster in his world because it could mess with your experiments!" Hitogami said that? Seriously? He always loved adding monsters to his world. I'll deny her the ability to put those monsters in my world because the people can't survive it. It may harm our relationship (not that there was much of one to begin with), but if it's in Hitogami's world I'm sure it would be fine. It's better than her getting annoyed and having her put monsters in my world despite my words.
"Ok, I'll allow it but make sure it doesn't mess with my experiments alright?" And with that the little girl was off with a big happy smile to Hitogami's world.
-End of flashback-
It's about time that she would arrive in Hitogami's world… I just hope the monster isn't too crazy.
