Day 5

Totodile was his cheerful, enthusiastic self. A trait that definitely passed down to his offspring. The Big Jaw Pokémon danced around each of his children as they danced alongside. Each of them enjoyed having their own rhythm to a beat that was just in their head. Ash just chuckled to himself about Totodile's maturity despite being unevolved and his children's habits before scanning them.

[Remoraid, the Jet Pokémon. Also known as the "sniper of the seas," its water gun can hit prey without fail from over 300 feet away.

Gender: Male

Ability: Sniper

Moves: Focus Energy, Psybeam, Aurora Beam, Bubble Beam, Lock-On]

When he got to Remoraid, the Jet Pokémon leapt up and down in the lake he was in. Totodile just let the Johto fish be whereas Ash had to calm the energetic fish down. It took a while but the small teal fish eventually calmed down. Thinking about what Remoraid could become, an Octillery seemed to be nice addition if the Jet Pokémon evolved. But right now, Remoraid is a fast, projectile firing Pokémon on his team.

[Lotad, the Water Weed Pokémon. Lotad live in ponds and lakes, where they float on the surface. It grows weak if its broad leaf dies. On rare occasions, this Pokémon travels on land in search of clean water.

Gender: Male

Ability: Rain Dish

Moves: Astonish, Water Gun, Mist, Mega Drain, Flail, Bubble Beam]

Swaying back and forth, Lotad had his own style of dance. It vaguely reminded Ash of Brock's Ludicolo but his was more laidback. Lotad was like Totodile, always dancing which Ash was fine with and he could potentially incorporate that into his battling style. The Water Weed Pokémon also did some tricks with Water Gun and Bubble Beam possibly from his father making Ash wonder about contest tactics.

[Shellos, the Sea Slug Pokémon. The difference in color from one Shellos to another seems to be a result of their diet. No large changes can be seen in their capabilities.

East Sea

Gender: Male

Ability: Sand Force

Moves: Mud-Slap, Harden, Recover, Water Pulse, Ancient Power]

The East Sea Shellos shared his cousin's habit of affection. He rubbed up against his trainer but was jumping with joy when cradled by Ketchum. The trainer saw this as a great addition since he never considered getting a Shellos plus there were two forms. But with the young sea slugs, he was glad both were on the team. Ash caught onto the fact that the West Sea seemed more serious than the East Sea, since the eastern slug had an upbeat attitude.

[Poliwag, the Tadpole Pokémon. Poliwag has a very thin skin. It is possible to see the Pokémon's spiral innards right through the skin. Despite its thinness, however, the skin is also very flexible. Even sharp fangs bounce right off it.

Ability: Water Absorb

Moves: Hypnosis, Pound, Bubble Beam, Mud Shot, Rain Dance]

Another Poliwag was a member of Totodile's offspring. Unlike Squirtle's though, this one was more chipper and had an upbeat attitude. The tadpole had more zen mindset and dancing style too. Ash remembered that the Tadpole Pokémon had a branch evolution so he could evolve one into Poliwrath and the other into a Politoed if they wanted to.

[Mankyte, the Kite Pokémon. It's highly friendly and easily tamed. Tours that take people swimming with Mantyke are a super-popular beach activity.

Gender: Male

Ability: Water Absorb

Moves: Supersonic, Wing Attack, Water Pulse, Wide Guard, Agility, Bubble Beam, Headbutt]

Mantyke got along very well with his Remoraid sibling, whether it was due to their symbiosis or just nature was anyone's guess. Mantyke floated and swayed with a happy tone in his appearance. Ash remembered that the pre-evolved Kite Pokémon would evolve into a Mantine, great for surfing on and versatile since it doesn't require a body of water to battle in.

[Popplio, the Sea Lion Pokémon. This Pokémon can control water bubbles. It practices diligently so it can learn to make big bubbles.

Gender: Female

Ability: Torrent, Liquid Voice (Hidden Ability)

Moves: Pound, Disarming Voice, Water Gun, Aqua Jet, Baby-Doll Eyes, Icy Wind]

Popplio was just as joyful as Totodile, possibly even more. She often clapped to her beat like her siblings before and loved to create water balloon bubbles like the Pokédex mentioned. Ash never considered get the Alolan Water starter since Lana had her own which is a Primarina. Knowing how powerful one could be, Ash was on board with having the navy blue pinniped that could evolve into a potential Soloist Pokémon if she wished to evolve.

With his only shiny Pokémon, Noctowl had a wise demeanor with his children. Teaching them right from wrong, how to fly or maneuver, all the basic fathering methods. The Owl Pokémon was very proud when Ash praised him for his work. He gave nice nuzzle as a thank you and introduced his hatchlings to Ash.

[Delibird, the Delivery Pokémon. It has a generous habit of sharing its food with people and Pokémon, so it's always scrounging around for more food.

Gender: Male

Ability: Vital Spirit

Moves: Present, Drill Peck, Aurora Beam, Counter, Ice Shard, Freeze Dry, Fake Out]

Delibird was never a Pokémon Ash thought of using. The Delivery Pokémon gave presents to his father's trainer and Pikachu which were given a thank you. It turned out to be an apple which they munched happily. Feeling satisfied, Ash gave the Ice/Flying-type a nice rub between his feathers making him chirp as he got itches within his body. Looking at the potential moves Delibird could learn, Ash was taken aback and so was very happy to have the Delivery Pokémon on his team.

[Natu, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. Natu has a highly developed jumping ability. The Pokémon flaps and leaps onto tree branches that are taller than grown-up people to pick at the tree's new shoots.

Gender: Male

Ability: Synchronize

Moves: Peck, Stored Power, Teleport, Leer, Confuse Ray, Night Shade]

Natu hopped all over the place, being energetic as Ash was struggling to keep up with the Johto Tiny Bird Pokémon. Finally get him to calm down, Ash came to accept how energetic some of the offsprings are. He never thought about getting the small Psychic/Flying type on his team but Noctowl had given him an offspring he would enjoy. Natu appreciated his trainer and nipped playfully at the hands.

[Sigilyph, the Avianoid Pokémon. Psychic power allows these Pokémon to fly. Some say they were the guardians of an ancient city. Others say they were the guardians' emissaries.

Gender: Male

Ability: Magic Guard

Moves: Gravity, Hypnosis, Air Cutter, Psybeam, Gust, Whirlwind, Cosmic Power]

Meeting Sigilyph, Ash still found it odd how Noctowl mated with the Avianoid Pokémon's mother since the shiny is a male. The Psychic/Flying-type Pokémon circled around Ketchum for minutes, observing him from all angles. After the observation, the hovering guardian-like Pokémon was content with Ash and allowed him to rub the base of his head.

Donphan trumpeted as his father got to him. Ash internally found it awkward since Donphan had hatched from an egg and he was now a father. Ketchum hoped that the pachyderm didn't breed when he was a Phanpy since he wasn't technically mature enough yet. Luckily, Oak was able to confirm when Donphan bred which was during his Sinnoh journey so Ash became relieved.

[Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokémon. It usually makes its home in deserts and arid zones, where rain does not fall. It digs holes to catch Bug-type Pokémon.

Gender: Male

Ability: Sand Veil

Moves: Defense Curl, Poison Sting, Sand Attack, Fury Cutter, Rollout, Rapid Spin]

Sandshrew was a Pokémon Ash had wanted for a long time. Seeing the Ground-type Mouse Pokémon made Ash think back to AJ. Wherever he was now, Ash hoped he could battle him again in the future. The rodent was hyper and loved to roll around. Sandshrew chirped whenever the Alolan Champion rubbed his back, enjoying the itches he was getting.

[Alolan Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokémon. It lives in snowy mountains on southern islands. When a blizzard rolls in, this Pokémon hunkers down in the snow to avoid getting blown away.

Gender: Male

Ability: Snow Cloak

Moves: Defense Curl, Mist, Powder Snow, Rollout, Fury Cutter, Rollout, Metal Claw]

An Alolan Sandshrew gave Ash such joy. He wanted one during his trip to Alola when he first saw them. The Ice-type Mouse Pokémon rolled like his Ground-type sibling but the two Mouse Pokémon were also competitive and somewhat argumentative which Donphan had to break up with his trunk and scold them for their behavior.

[Rhyhorn, the Spikes Pokémon. Strong but not too bright, this Pokémon can shatter even a skyscraper with its charging tackles.

Gender: Male

Ability: Lightning Rod

Moves: Stomp, Tackle, Tail Whip, Smack Down, Bulldoze, Horn Attack]

Ash couldn't help but be proud with Rhyhorn. He had wanted this Pokémon during his trip to the Kanto Safari Zone but missed his chance due to the Tauros herd. He patted the back of the rhinoceros-like Pokémon, which was surprisingly affectionate and even licked his new trainer on the check. Thinking ahead, he could have a Rhydon or Rhyperior which he considered a major powerhouse for him.

[Hippopotas, the Hippo Pokémon. It moves through the sands with its mouth open, swallowing sand along with its prey. It gets rid of the sand by spouting it from its nose.

Gender: Male

Ability: Sand Stream

Moves: Tackle, Sand Attack, Crunch, Yawn, Sand Tomb, Dig]

Hippopotas was bashful at first, hiding the sand bath. Donphan gave the ground-dwelling hippopotamus a nudge of encouragement which gave the Hippo Pokémon the courage to meet the trainer. Needless to say, Hippopotas enjoyed getting to know his trainer and was even held by him. Ash had a cheerful expression, having wanted the Sinnoh pachyderm during his journey and Donphan now had the child. If he got a Hippowdon, he would truly be excited for another great Ground-type on his team.

[Cufant, the Copperderm Pokémon. It digs up the ground with its trunk. It's also very strong, being able to carry loads of over five tons without any problem at all.

Ability: Sheer Force

Moves: Tackle, Rock Smash, Rollout, Bulldoze, Stomp, Iron Defense]

Cufant was another hardworking Pokémon Ash came to enjoy. Learning the Copperderm Pokémon originated from the Galar region, Ketchum grew more excited to challenge the region. The Steel-type elephant himself wrapped his trunk around the Alolan Champion with much joy to the point he almost constricted him but the Ground-type Armor Pokémon was able to let Cufant know which made the Steel-type to blush with embarrassment but Ash let the orange pachyderm know it was all right.

A/N: And I am now done with Johto. Think I might just put all the Hoenn offspirngs in one chapter since they have 3-6 each.
