Day 9
Unfezant took to her trainer with her two hatchlings flying behind her. The professor commented on how the Proud Pokémon possessed a great mothering ability when it came to her chicks. That made sense to Ash since Pidgeot, Lapras, and Bayleef also had that trait but he began to wonder if all female Pokémon have that for themselves. He shook his head from that thought and went to scan them.
[Ducklett, the Water Bird Pokémon. They are better at swimming than flying, and they happily eat their favorite food, peat moss, as they dive underwater.
Gender: Female
Ability: Keen Eyes
Moves: Water Pulse, Water Sport, Defog, Wing Attack, Aerial Ace, Bubble Beam, Feather Dance, Aqua Ring]
Ducklett flew to her trainer, a little too close for comfort. The Water Bird Pokémon backed away before landing happily on her trainer's head much to Pikachu and Unfezant's amusement as Ash didn't mind as the waterfowl quacked with comfort. From his previous encounter with the Unovan waterfowl and their evolved forms, Ash recalled how Skyla's Swanna was quite agile in the air. Planning to make her as versatile, the Alolan Champion was more than happy with Unova Water/Flying-type.
[Rufflet, the Eaglet Pokémon. With its sharp claws, this Pokémon pierces its prey, and then it pecks at them. Although it also consumes berries, it's a carnivore at heart.
Gender: Male
Ability: Keen Eyes
Moves: Peck, Leer, Hone Claws, Wing Attack, Tailwind, Scary Face]
Rufflet proved he liked to train as his mother often had to make sure he didn't over do it. Ash thought ahead to having a Braviary on his team. In truth, the evolved form had captured Ash attention but since he already had Unfezant on his team, he neglected the idea. But now the Eaglet Pokémon had presented himself and the idea had returned to the boy's mind. The hatchling himself was content with Ash, flying up to his level and landing on the trainer's shoulder with a proud expression on his face.
Oshawott had a tendency to rather... spoil his children. A trait that Oak mentioned when Ash got to the Sea Otter Pokémon. The more the trainer thought about it, the more he understood probably why he did it as the Unova Water starter was lovesick and wanted the best for his offsprings. One of his children clearly enjoyed the pampered life as the others found it squandering for themselves.
[Panpour, the Spray Pokémon. The water stored inside the tuft on its head is full of nutrients. Plants that receive its water grow large.
Gender: Male
Ability: Gluttony; Torrent (Hidden Ability)
Moves: Leer, Lick, Water Gun, Fury Swipes, Bite, Scald]
Panpour like to train solo or sometimes with the other Water-types. There have been moments when Oshawott would try to show off to the Spray Pokémon as an act of impressing him but this would result in an accident. The Water-type simian could only look away embarrassed by his dad's action. Upon meeting the blue primate, Ash realized he had all three of the elemental monkeys.
[Espurr, the Restraint Pokémon. Though Espurr's expression never changes, behind that blank stare is an intense struggle to contain its devastating psychic power.
Gender: Female
Ability: Infiltrator
Moves: Scratch, Leer, Fake Out, Disarming Voice, Confusion, Covet, Psybeam]
Hearing the Pokédex description, Ash gave a blank stare to Espurr. He never considered the young gray feline to have that much strength. And he thought the Ghost-types were more of the scarier ones. But behind that destructive power, the Restraint Pokémon tickled the trainer by climbing all over with a joyful attitude akin to the power she hid behind her eyes. Ash couldn't help but laugh as the Kalos Psychic-type continued to climb all of her trainer.
[Purrloin, the Devious Pokémon. Opponents that get drawn in by its adorable behavior come away with stinging scratches from its claws and stinging pride from its laughter.
Gender: Female
Ability: Limber
Moves: Fury Swipes, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, Torment, Assurance]
Out of all the pampered infants, Purrloin loved to exploit it the most. Ash wasn't sure if this was due to her Dark-type attribute or rather just being her deceitful self. It took lecturing from her uncles and aunts to get her to stop but the Devious Pokémon ignored them and continued doing her thing. The boy could only sweat-drop and hope this wouldn't be an issue if he put her on his team.
[Minccino, the Chinchilla Pokémon. The way it brushes away grime with its tail can be helpful when cleaning. But its focus on spotlessness can make cleaning more of a hassle.
Gender: Female
Ability: Technician
Moves: Pound, Baby-Doll Eyes, Helping Hand, Echoed Voice, Sing, Charm, Swift, Encore]
Minccino was very tidy and neat. She was often cleaning like how the Pokédex mentioned and Ash didn't have any issues with it. The Chinchilla Pokémon ceased her cleaning and began to climb all over her dad's trainer, turning out to be very affectionate. She brushed her body against Ash's neck while on his shoulder then scampered down, doing an adorable display. The Alolan Champion just chuckled and rubbed her belly with made the gray Unovan rodent chitter with joy.
[Glameow, the Catty Pokémon. It claws if displeased and purrs when affectionate. Its fickleness is very popular among some.
Gender: Female
Ability: Limber
Moves: Fake Out, Growl, Hypnosis, Aerial Ace, Fury Swipes, Charm]
Unlike her Dark-type sibling, Glameow didn't always like to be pampered. According to Oak, she enjoys it at times but the Catty Pokémon has proven to be rather resourceful at times. The Sinnoh feline liked to have a sense of independence. Ash never considered the feline on his team, more fitting for a coordinator but he didn't mind. Plus this Glameow seemed to favor battling than looking her best. She also tended to argue with Purrloin, the two cats having to be broken up with Oshawott... which often resulted with the dad getting scratched painfully.
Pignite was more gentle with his offsprings. The Unovan Fire-type also had them train themselves to the best of their abilities but only a few he could help with that. But Ash found them to be quite the quartet of Pokémon, each being help in their own way. The trainer saw the potential which made him more than happy to try to battle with them in the future.
[Darumaka, the Zen Charm Pokémon. It derives its power from fire burning inside its body. If the fire dwindles, this Pokémon will immediately fall asleep.
Gender: Male
Ability: Inner Focus
Moves: Tackle, Incinerate, Taunt, Bite, Work Up, Fire Fang, Headbutt]
Darumaka tackled the Pallet Town native, not doing so much damage but it was his display of love. Having endured so many tackles at this point, Ash managed to shrug it off and rubbed the round Fire-type's head. The Zen Charm Pokémon bounded everywhere and it took the collective work of Pikachu, Ash, and Pignite to calm Darumaka down. Darminatian seemed possible now for the trainer as he thought back to how strong they could be.
[Spoink, the Bounce Pokemon. Spoink keeps a pearl on top of its head. The pearl functions to amplify this Pokémon's psychokinetic powers. It is therefore on a constant search for a bigger pearl.
Gender: Male
Ability: Own Tempo
Moves: Splash, Confusion, Growl, Psybeam, Psych Up, Confuse Ray, Magic Coat]
Spoink bounced up and down with so much energy, making Ash just snicker. The Hoenn swine couldn't help himself since he had to keep moving but the trainer didn't mind. He thought about the potential Grumpig on his team, the Psychic-type Pokémon having been quite impressive from the few times Ash had seen him on his journey.
[Munna, the Dream Eater Pokémon. It eats dreams and releases mist. The mist is pink when it's eating a good dream, and black when it's eating a nightmare.
Gender: Female
Ability: Forewarn
Moves: Stored Power, Defense Curl, Hypnosis, Psybeam, Imprison, Moonlight, Magic Coat]
Munna nuzzled her trainer with joy, resting herself on Ash's head. The Alolan Champion merely rubbed her body which made the Dream Eater Pokémon enjoy the amount of affection. Out of all of Pignite's kids, the Unovan dream-eating Pokémon was the most loving. Ash rarely remembered meeting the pink Psychic-type Pokémon during his journey so he never thought about catching one. Given how most of their abilities involve sleeping moves, it made sense but Ash liked the young Dream Eater Pokémon and planned to make her strong.
[Heatmor, the Anteater Pokémon. Using their very hot, flame-covered tongues, they burn through Durant's steel bodies and consume their insides.
Gender: Male
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves: Lick, Tackle, Fury Swipes, Incinerate, Bug Bite, Stockpile, Swallow, Spit Up]
Heatmor crossed his arms and observed the trainer. With a nod of satisfaction, Heatmor lumbered off much to Ash's confusion. It turns out the Anteater Pokémon liked to train as Ketctum watched him practice his Fire-type moves with the help of Pignite and his Fire-type uncles. The pure Unovan Fire-type was quite interesting so the Pallet Town native was greatly pleased with the Fire-type anteater.
Snivy was a stern parent, like how Oak said in the beginning. Given how her three offsprings are all serpents and that was her usual attitude, Ash found it fitting. The Grass Snake Pokémon got her children over, each slithering and Ash thought about their futures as he loved them all.
[Ekans, the Snake Pokémon. It sneaks through grass without making a sound and strikes unsuspecting prey from behind.
Gender: Female
Ability: Intimidate
Moves: Wrap, Glare, Poison Sting, Bite, Screech, Acid]
Ekans, while not long enough at the moment, slithered up her trainer's leg and hissed with joy as she clung to his arm. Ash scratched down her scales, admiring the purple snake for her ability. The idea of an Arbok entered his mind which made the boy think about Jessie's. He never did find out what happened to the Poison-type cobra. Having Ekans here was impressive and Ash took her in instantly.
[Seviper, the Fang Snake Pokémon. Seviper's swordlike tail serves two purposes—it slashes foes and douses them with secreted poison. This Pokémon will not give up its long-running blood feud with Zangoose.
Gender: Female
Ability: Shed Skin
Moves: Wrap, Swagger, Bite, Lick, Poison Tail, Feint, Venoshock, Screech, Glare, Venom Drench]
The grudge about Seviper and the Cat Furret Pokémon was true as Ash had witnessed it in the wild during his Sinnoh journey. He remembered that one of the Tauros had the Normal-type Hoenn hybrid so he got nervous. But the Fang Snake Pokémon coiled around her trainer with much admiration. The trainer merely rubbed her scales making her hiss with joy. He also recalled how Jessie owned one herself but didn't use her for after Sinnoh. He shrugged off the idea as Snivy introduced her last child.
[Silicobra, the Sand Snake Pokémon. It spews sand from its nostrils. While the enemy is blinded, it burrows into the ground to hide.
Gender: Male
Ability: Sand Spit
Moves: Wrap, Sand Attack, Minimize, Brutal Swing, Bulldoze, Headbutt, Glare]
Silicobra dug underground, being shy. Ash took it slow so the Sand Snake Pokémon relaxed and reappeared. The young Ground-type serpent turned out it would be a great addition with its evolution Sandaconda which made use of his sand based attacks. Another tactic was with weather conditions which Ash hardly used in battle but with some of these new Pokémon utilizes weather conditions to their advantage. So that got Ash thinking about trying that in the future.
A/N: Half of Unova done. Now the last four.
KaliAnn: The genders of all the Pokémon have been decided. But I could swap some to female so be on the lookout. And glad that you will keep counting.
Guest: Yes, I plan to have Ash into rotation when he goes on his journey but still working on that part of the story.
