Day 10
Boldore, living near the rocky terrain of the corral, had his younglings up and about. Ash wasn't surprised as many of the offsprings were Rock, Ground, and Steel within the Ore Pokémon's array. Meeting each and everyone of them, the Alolan Champion thought about their offensive and defensive properties, coming up with a few ideas for them in the future.
[Onix, the Rock Snake Pokémon. Burrows at high speed in search of food. The tunnels it leaves are used as homes by Diglett.
Gender: Male
Ability: Rock Head
Moves: Tackle, Harden, Bind, Smack Down, Rock Polish, Dragon Breath, Rock Slide, Screech, Sand Tomb]
Meeting Onix knocked Ash off his feet. The rock serpent was no stranger to Ash since he remembered Brock's during his Kanto and Johto journey. The Rock Snake Pokémon coiled around before giving a roar of content. The Pallet Town native smiled and scratched the rocky segments, earning another soft roar.
[Geodude, the Rock Pokémon. At rest, it looks just like a rock. Carelessly stepping on it will make it swing its fists angrily.
Gender: Male
Ability: Sturdy
Moves: Defense Curl, Sandstorm, Rock Polish, Rollout, Smack Down, Bulldoze]
Geodude floated, arms crossing as he sized up his trainer. With a thumbs up, the Kanto Rock Pokémon went to training where he punched a boulder. Like Onix, Ash wasn't a stranger with the sentient rock due to Brock. The Pallet Town native thought about how powerful a Golem would be, so he got interested in thinking about evolving him.
[Beldum, the Iron Ball Pokémon. The cells in this Pokémon's body are composed of magnetic material. Instead of blood, magnetic forces flow through Beldum's body.
Gender: Unknown
Ability: Clear Body; Light Metal (Hidden Ability)
Moves: Take Down]
Beldum, like his Geodude sibling, floated around Ash before giving an excited look on its eye. The boy rubbed the metallic skin of the Iron Ball Pokémon, appreciating its acceptance. Ash remembered reading about how Metagross was one of the pseudo-legendary Pokémon with its strong defense and attack. And from personal experiences of dealing with the Steel/Psychic-type, he was satisfied that he had one now.
[Bronzor, the Bronze Pokémon. Implements shaped like it were discovered in ancient tombs. It is unknown if they are related.
Gender: Unknown
Ability: Heatproof
Moves: Tackle, Confusion, Confuse Ray, Payback, Imprison, Gyro Ball, Hypnosis, Safeguard]
Bronzor floated behind its dad, which the Ore Pokémon had to get it to introduce itself. Ash took it slow like he has been doing with the other bashful offsprings. The Bronze Pokémon hovered around and spun around happily with Ketchum. Ash rubbed the metal covering of the teal flat, circular Pokémon, being reminded of the Sinnoh's Steel/Psychic types abilities.
[Nosepass, the Compass Pokémon. It uses powerful magnetism to drag its prey toward it. It's also been known to pull in metal, which it collects and uses to protect itself.
Gender: Male
Ability: Magnet Pull
Moves: Tackle, Harden, Block, Thunder Wave, Rest, Spark, Rock Slide, Power Gem, Rock Blast]
Nosepass shuffled over and looked up to his trainer. Ash scratched the nose of the Compass Pokémon who looked indifferent with the contact. The living magnetic rock was an interesting find for Ash, but as usual he didn't mind the bluish rock.
[Golett, the Automaton Pokémon. They were sculpted from clay in ancient times. No one knows why, but some of them are driven to continually line up boulders.
Gender: Unknown
Ability: Iron Fist
Moves: Mud-Slap, Astonish, Defense Curl, Pound, Shadow Punch, Curse, Night Shade, Stomping Tantrum]
Golett walked over to its trainer and pounded his fist to its chest, as if it was ready to serve the Alolan Champion. Ash just chuckled before patting the Automaton Pokémon on the head. The Ground/Ghost-type liked the praise and relaxed his stance before wandering off to train.
[Carbink, the Jewel Pokémon. When beset by attackers, Carbink wipes them all out by firing high-energy beams from the gems embedded in its body.
Gender: Unknown
Ability: Clear Body
Moves: Tackle, Harden, Guard Split, Smack Down, Flail, Ancient Power, Rock Polish]
Carbink hopped over to the trainer and had an expression of jubilation at being recognized. Ash rubbed the crystal on the head, making the Jewel Pokémon croon. The boy himself never considered getting the Rock/Fairy-type on his team but Boldore was happy to supply the conical gem-like Pokémon as a child.
[Rolycoly, the Coal Pokémon. Most of its body has the same composition as coal. Fittingly, this Pokémon was first discovered in coal mines about 400 years ago.
Gender: Male
Ability: Steam Engine
Moves: Tackle, Smokescreen, Rapid Spin, Smack Down, Rock Polish, Ancient Power]
Rolling up to his trainer, Rolycoly gave Ash a surprise. He looked at the Pokédex and found out the Rock-type was from Galar and had the unique ability Steam Engine, an ability that grants a speed boost when hit with a Fire or Water-type move. The Galar Coal Pokémon himself, wheeled around happily and earned a nice scratch on his rugged back.
Leavanny lived up to his species name. He was often sewing leaves for his larva and each of them liked their little woven leaf accessories, even sharing with his nieces and nephews who wanted some. It reminded Ash of the first time the Nurturing Pokémon first tried weaving. The Unova Bug/Grass was caring to each of his Bug-type children and Ketchum noticed many that he never thought of catching before.
[Wurmple, the Worm Pokémon. It spits a white silk thread that turns sticky when coming into contact with air. The silk is used to immobilize foes.
Gender: 1 Male, 1 Female (x2)
Ability: Shield Dust (x2)
Moves: Tackle, String Shot, Poison Sting]
The Wurmples were obviously siblings. The two Hoenn Worm Pokémon often had petty squabbles, fighting over their leaf clothing that Leavanny also had to break up. This resulted in their dad crafting more vegetative accessories for the two. Seeing the two pink caterpillars reminded Ash of their branch evolution into Beautifly and Dustox so he had plans for them but the problem was if they evolved into Silcoon and Cascoon.
[Burmy, the Bagworm Pokémon. If its cloak is broken in battle, it quickly remakes the cloak with materials nearby.
Grass Cloak
Gender: Male
Ability: Overcoat
Moves: Protect, Tackle, Bug Bite, String Shot]
Out of all the larvae, Burmy enjoyed the woven leaves the most. Ash thought about how it might be due to the fact, the Sinnoh Bagworm Pokémon was known for using materials for covering themselves. But regardless, Leavanny was happy to provide for his Grass/Bug type larvae with as many leaves as he needed until he was to evolve.
[Scatterbug, the Scatterdust Pokémon. The powder that covers its body regulates its temperature, so it can live in any region or climate.
Gender: Female
Ability: Compound Eyes
Moves: Tackle, Stun Spore, String Shot]
Scatterbug puffed up in pride as her father's trainer looked at her. Ash had personally wanted a Vivillon after saving the one from the poacher. The Kalosian butterfly would have been beautiful but also reminded himself of Butterfree. However, this Scatterdust Pokémon seemed like she wanted to be strong like her father so Ketchum gave a proud smile and promised her to train hard.
[Durant, the Iron Ant Pokémon. Durant digs nests in mountains. They build their complicated, interconnected tunnels in mazes.
Gender: Female
Ability: Swarm
Moves: Fury Cutter, Sand Attack, Beat Up, Metal Claw, Bug Bite, Agility, Dig]
Among the larvae, Durant was the most unexpected out of the group. The Iron Ant Pokémon snapped her pincers joyfully and scurried all around. Leavanny had to restrain her from acting out with a String Shot but managed to calm the steel ant down. Ash then remembered how Heatmor and Durant were predator-and-prey, so he was curious about their dynamic since Pignite had Heatmor as one of his kids.
[Shelmet, the Snail Pokémon. It has a strange physiology that responds to electricity. When together with Karrablast, Shelmet evolves for some reason.
Gender: Male
Ability: Hydration
Moves: Mega Drain, Protect, Acid, Curse, Struggle Bug, Yawn]
Shelmet hid behind his father's legs, scared of the trainer as he never met him before. Ash managed to get the Snail Pokémon to open up and Bug-type hopped for joy. Ash recalled how quick and agile an Accelgor was and the Unovan pure Bug-type was a great find.
[Karrablast, the Clamping Pokémon. Its strange physiology reacts to electrical energy in interesting ways. The presence of a Shelmet will cause this Pokémon to evolve.
Gender: Male
Ability: Swarm
Moves: Peck, Leer, Fury Cutter, Endure, False Swipe, Acid Spray, Headbutt]
Karrablast reacted the same way Shelmet did. Until he saw his sibling get some attention so the Clamping Pokémon butted in and acted smug towards his counterpart. Shelmet puffed with anger and rammed his brother from behind. The two Bug-types began a scuffle that Leavanny broke up and scorned the two larvaes.
[Dewpider, the Water Bubble Pokémon. Dewpider normally lives underwater. When it comes onto land in search of food, it takes water with it in the form of a bubble on its head.
Gender: Female
Ability: Water Bubble
Moves: Water Gun, Infestation, Bug Bite, Bubble Beam, Aqua Ring, Headbutt, Crunch]
Dewpider liked to fire small spurts of bubbles. The Water Bubble Pokémon seemed to have a love for using Bubble Beam constantly. The water arachnid especially liked to pop her own bubbles and enjoyed when her siblings joined in. Recalling Aquaranid, the Water/Bug-type truly interested Ash so the spiderling was a sight to behold.
[Joltik, the Attaching Pokémon. Joltik can be found clinging to other Pokémon. It's soaking up static electricity because it can't produce a charge on its own.
Gender: Male
Ability: Compound Eyes
Moves: Absorb, Fury Cutter, Bug Bite, Electroweb, String Shot, Thunder Wave, Electro Ball]
Joltik was quite hard to find at first. The small, yellow tick latched onto Pikachu and gained electricity which made the Mouse Pokémon feel a bit discharged. Leavanny ended up dislodging the Attaching Pokémon making the tick look ashamed. But the gloomy feeling went away as the Electric/Bug-type crawled all over Ash, making the trainer laugh. While small, Ash promised not to use him in battles just yet due to the fact he might get stepped on.
[Nincada, the Trainee Pokémon. It grows underground, sensing its surroundings using its antennas instead of its virtually blind eyes.
Gender: Male
Ability: Compound Eyes
Moves: Scratch, Harden, False Swipe, Mud-Slap]
Nincada unborrowed himself, giving Ash a quizzical stare. The Trainee Pokémon was more analytical with the boy, calculating before nuzzling against the boy's leg. Ash scratched the white insect before remembering the joint evolution for the Hoenn insect. He wasn't sure how to get a Shedinja but he was willing to try, along with getting a Ninjask for the speed.
[Dwebble, the Rock Inn Pokémon. When it finds a stone of a suitable size, it secretes a liquid from its mouth to open up a hole to crawl into.
Gender: Male
Ability: Sturdy
Moves: Fury Cutter, Sand Attack, Withdraw, Smack Down, Bug Bite, Flail, Slash, Rock Slide]
Dwebble scurried in a hurry with his stone shell, also giving Ash a stare. The Rock Inn Pokémon followed his Bug/Ground-type sibling and gave a nuzzle. Ketchum gave another smile before recalling the defensive ways of the Unova Bug/Rock-type like his Torterra and Boldore. While he would give up speed eventually, Ash was willing to teach Dwebble some great moves upon evolution if he wanted.
[Blipbug, the Larva Pokémon. Often found in gardens, this Pokémon has hairs on its body that it uses to assess its surroundings.
Gender: Male
Ability: Swarm
Moves: Struggle Bug]
Rounding off his siblings, Blipbug scurried towards his father's trainer. The Galar regional insect was intriguing to the Pallet Town boy, having never met the Galar Larva Pokémon before. Ash found out the Bug-type evolves into a Bug/Psychic combination, making him even more interested in what Galar had to offer. The Galarian caterpillar began to wrap around Ash's leg, loving his trainer but Leavanny had to pry him off.
Palpitoad croaked with a stern tone. His offspring all appeared from the riverbank and lined up, ready to meet their father's trainer. Ash could tell they had been training and the boy had never seen such a side in his Vibration Pokémon.
[Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. This Pokémon lives in cold water. It will leave the water to search for food when it gets cold outside.
Gender: Male
Ability: Water Absorb
Moves: Water Gun, Tail Whip, Rain Dance, Mud Shot, Mist, Haze, Slam, Yawn]
Wooper looked with awe at the sight of Ash. It made the Water Fish Pokémon jump up and down ecstatically, begging to be cradled by the human. Ketchum managed to understand and held the Johto limbless amphibian who cried with fun as he was rocked back and forth.
[Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokémon. It appears as if it is skating on water. It draws prey in with a sweet scent released from the tip of its head.
Gender: Female
Ability: Swift Swim
Moves: Water Gun, Quick Attack, Sweet Scent, Soak, Bubble Beam, Agility]
Surskit was an unexpected find to see in the colony, since she was a Bug-type whereas the father is a Water/Ground-type. Ash wasn't sure how that had happened but didn't mind. He remembers how swift Surskits are and the Pond Skater Pokémon proved to be crafty. So, the Hoenn Bug/Water-type gave a chirp of joy as she skated around the lake with such grace.
[Mudkip, the Mud Fish Pokémon. The fin on Mudkip's head acts as highly sensitive radar. Using this fin to sense movements of water and air, this Pokémon can determine what is taking place around it without using its eyes.
Gender: Male
Ability: Torrent; Damp (Hidden Ability)
Moves: Tackle, Growl, Water Gun, Rock Smash, Rock Throw, Protect, Supersonic]
Mudkip bounded and splashed about with a carefree attitude, much like his uncle Totodile. Palpitoad made efforts on trying to calm the Mud Fish Pokémon down, but he failed, leaving him to sigh before patting him on the head. The Hoenn Water starter croaked and flipped in the lake with joy.
[Stunfisk, the Trap Pokémon. Thanks to bacteria that lived in the mud flats with it, this Pokémon developed the organs it uses to generate electricity.
Gender: Male
Ability: Static
Moves: Mud Shot, Tackle, Water Gun, Thunder Shock, Endure, Revenge, Charge, Sucker Punch]
Stunfisk was… rather slow. Palpitoad had to get the Trap Pokémon up to speed but he was still not processing fast enough. The Ground/Electric-type reminded Ash of Cilan's, and the typing was quite something Ash had never seen before. Flopping about, the flounder managed to come to his senses and flop happily on land as Ketchum recognized him.
[Mareanie, the Brutal Star Pokémon. It plunges the poison spike on its head into its prey. When the prey has weakened, Mareanie deals the finishing blow with its 10 tentacles.
Gender: Female
Ability: Merciless
Moves: Poison Sting, Peck, Wide Guard, Bite, Venoshock, Recover, Toxic Spikes]
Familiar with how Mareanie battled and poisoned their trainers, Ash was fearful of getting poisoned. The Brutal Star Pokémon proved to be fearful herself, hiding behind her dad. Palpitoad croaked that it was okay and the poisonous starfish-like Pokémon was carefully with her tendrils. Eventually, Ash managed to get along with the Alolan Water/Poison-type.
Krookodile, despite looking tough with his Black Sunglasses, had a soft spot for his hatchlings. The Intimidation Pokémon burrowed one of his offsprings out, caught another in their tracks and two tackled their trainer, being the affectionate ones of the litter. Ash found the four of them all quite a sight to behold: each having the potential to be great in their own way.
[Drilbur, the Mole Pokémon. By spinning its body, it can dig straight through the ground at a speed of 30 mph.
Gender: Male
Ability: Sand Rush
Moves: Mud Slap, Rapid Spin, Fury Swipes, Hone Claws, Metal Claw, Sandstorm, Crush Claw]
Drilbur had a habit of digging all over the place, making him quite energetic. Krookodile did his best to get the Mole Pokémon not to dig holes all over the place, even if he was in the corral but the mole continued his course. Ash eventually got to officially meet the young ground-dwelling Pokémon, thinking back to Iris' Excadrill and how efficient he was in battle after listening to her again. So, Drilbur was an excellent find.
[Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokémon. To protect themselves from danger, they hide their true identities by transforming into people and Pokémon.
Gender: Female
Ability: Illusion
Moves: Fury Swipes, Leer, Torment, Hone Claws, Scary Face, Taunt, Knock Off, Fake Tears]
Zorua was the tricky one of the litter. She was rather illusive, morphing into Ash and Pikachu the first chance she got and snickered. Recalling his two previous experiences with the Tricky Fox Pokémon line, Ash knew that the vulpine was known for being mischievous. She often got along with some of her Dark-type cousins such as Purrloin and Salandit. Sighing, Ketchum knew that Zorua might become a handful in the future if she chose to evolve.
[Rockruff, the Puppy Pokémon. This Pokémon can bond very strongly with its Trainer, but it also has a habit of biting. Raising a Rockruff for a long time can be challenging.
Gender: Male (x2)
Ability: Keen Eye; Vital Spirit
Moves: Tackle, Leer, Sand Attack, Double Team, Rock Tomb, Howl, Bite]
The Rockruffs, as mentioned before, tackled Ash to the ground. Both licked and rubbed their necks against the Alola Champion, despite the pain from the rocks in their necks. Ash just laughed it off, having been through this experience before when Lycanroc was a Rockruff himself.
Thinking about the Wolf Pokémon made Ash reminisce about his Alola team. No doubt, they missed him and it made him want to bring them over to meet his team. With the idea in mind, Ash decided to ask the professor after today.
"Hey, Professor?" Ash asked at the end of Day 10.
"Hmmm," Oak looked up from his studies before acknowledging Ash, "Ah, Ash! I take it you are turning in for the night."
"Correct," Ash admitted before asking a question in his mind, "Um... Professor Oak. I was wondering if I could bring my Alola team over from Professor Kukui's."
"What for?" the Kanto regional professor asked.
"Well," Ash began, "seeing Krookodile's Rockruffs today caught me thinking about Lycanroc and the others. Plus I'm pretty sure the ones here would want to meet them."
"Ah, I see," Oak said, "It's perfectly fine. I was wondering if you would want them to come over and meet the rest of your team. I'll try to see if Kukui can send them over tomorrow."
Ash smiled, "Thanks Professor Oak!" With that little idea in mind, Ash's anticipation for his Alolan team was one he would love to see with his current team. He could picture various interactions: Incineroar sizing up Charizard, Lycanroc chatting with Krookodile, Rowlet dozing with Snorlax, Melmetal chirping energetically with Boldore, and Nagandel showing off her Dragon-type moves for Gible.
Excited, Ash left for the day and went to bed since tomorrow would be probably his last bundle of Pokémon.
A/N: Also in this AU, Naganadel decided to stay. And now the final team, Kalos.
In regards to Alola and Journeys, this is probably going to turn into a Journeys rewrite and Ash's Alolan Team most likely will not have offsprings. But as you can see, I am bringing them back.
