Short But Sweet.
I groaned as I touched my chin to chest for the fourth time, and pushed down as hard as I could.
"Come on, Marie, you can do this." Nat said as she
"Oh my god.." I groaned in pain as I felt another pain hit, Steve helping me by holding me up in position as Nat and Pepper oversaw the progress.
"Almost there, we can see the baby's head begin to crown… Come on, Marie, you can do this." Pepper urged.
I cried out in pain, trying to push with all of my strength, until I heard Nat and Pepper gasp.
I finally fell back heavily into Steve while he helped me lay back.
Nat quickly tied a piece of string onto the umbilical cord before helping me deliver the placenta, and letting Steve cut the cord.
"It's a girl." She breathed, smiling widely at me as she cleaned the baby with some warm wipes, and wrapped up the baby in a thick blanket, and handed her to me.
"Is she ok?" I asked breathlessly, as I looked up at Nat.
"She is perfectly fine. Breathing on her own, responsive to noises. We'll call a doctor to check her and you too as soon as possible. Don't worry." She said as she looked over at Pepper.
"We'll be back to help you with the bleeding in a minute." She said as she pulled Pepper out of the room.
"Thank you." I muttered, smiling tiredly at both of them.
'No problem.' She mouthed to me as they exited the room.
"So, a little princess. What are we going to name her?" Steve asked as he carefully sat next to me, and looked down at her.
I smiled at him, before looking down at the small bundle in my arms. She had sharp blue eyes, darker than the normal light eyes that a newborn usually has, and dark brown matted curls that reminded me so much of my father.
I couldn't help thinking of my father as I stared down at her, she was too adorable.
"Adalyn Everly Rogers." I finally said, before looking up at him.
"She looks just like you." He commented with a smile.
"She has your eyes." I replied.
"For now." He said, smiling down at her.
"We'll see as she grows." I replied with a small smile.
"That we will." He replied, smiling before he kissed my forehead before looking down at the baby.
