Steve's POV:
It's been a while since I have been back home.
I never expected one visit to end up with my wife pregnant. Especially after we had been careful throughout this time.
I noticed the gasp that left both Nat and Pepper's lips as Marie birthed Addy and knew something was amiss immediately.
So, after both my girls were comfortable, sleeping again. I walked out of the room and made way over to where Nat and Pepper were talking in hushed tones.
"Alright, what is going on? Why did you two gasp like that when you saw the baby? Is something wrong with her?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.
Clint slowly made his way over to us, as well.
Nat turned to look at us before sighing. "We think the baby may have some extra abilities. Her eyes were glowing the way Marie's used to when she looked into the future." Nat explained.
I felt my eyes widen and my jaw drop as I stared in disbelief at them.
"How is that possible?" Clint asked them for me.
" From what we gather, Marie's DNA was altered, so it seems her DNA plus yours, which was also altered by the super soldier serum make powerful kids." Nat explained looking over at me. "Pretty, smart, and strong." She smirked.
Clint turned sharply towards me, "Wait, do all of your kids have powers?" He asked me.
I looked away, nodding once. "Joey and James can disappear without leaving a trace of where they are. Only Marie can find them. Joey has telekinesis. James has the ability to hear things we cannot. Charlotte has precognition. Sophie can read minds and teleports." I sighed, rubbing my face.
"How in the hell do you keep count of all of them?" Clint asked, in disbelief.
"They're four, and they aren't allowed to use their abilities unless there is danger." I said.
"And they listen?" Clint asked in even more disbelief.
I laughed, nodding. "Oh yeah. Your sister can be very persuasive when it comes to getting the children to listen. Not even Sulema, our babysitter can get them to listen sometimes. That's one of the reasons why she chose to retire after the whole thing with her ex…" I explained.
Clint winced as he realized what I was referring to. "What'd she do?" He asked.
"Our house is built to look like a large cabin from the outside… but their rooms have each got a built in way to disable their abilities. Your sister made sure it works and is constantly updating it to keep them in line." I explained.
"That would mean…" Clint began.
"It means she found a way to disable hers as well too." I finished for him, causing everyone to gasp.
"But how does that work when you're not at home?" Nat asked, shocked.
"See the bracelet that James has on his wrist?" I asked.
They all nodded, as we all turned to look at the kids as they sat there watching a movie.
James lifted his right hand to move his blonde hair back.
"That had a built in chip your sister created. It stop him from being able to use any of his powers, if he does use them Marie gets the alert on her phone or watch telling her that the child is in danger. There is even a small contact module that let's them stay in contact. I have one built into my watch." I explained lifting up my hand to show them.
"Is it weird that I find it hilarious that Tony hasn't thought of doing this for our kids?" Pepper asked, laughing.
"Nope. Marie actually started working on designing one for everyone as well. It'll just alert the parents if the child is in danger. It has a locator chip, and a small headpiece that allows the child to speak to the parent if lost or in danger." I replied looking down at mine.
"Really? That sounds awesome." Clint replied as I showed him mine.
I nodded as a call came in.
"C. Mar Vell?" Clint asked.
I nodded, answering.
"Rogers. I need to know what is going on. Is half of our planet really gone?" She asked.
"Yes, we are currently looking to see if Tony is gone but he isn't currently on the planet. Marie says we've got at least a month before he gets here." I replied.
"I'll start checking around and keeping an eye out for him." She said, "Meanwhile, you guys can start checking around to see who survived whatever this is." She said before hanging up.
We all looked at each other, before heading into the office to begin a database check for everyone out there.
