The Rise From The Ashes:

After the destruction of The Head, which was unsuccessful, Evey decides to assume the identity of "V" and fulfill her mentor's dream. With mask in hand, she made her way into The Gallery. There she found countless books about Anarchy and fighting techniques ranging from Aikido to Hapkido and Capoeira to Qin na; all books were tattered and torn indicating extended use.

Upon finding a set of "V's" deadly knives Evey trained extensively for months in the martial arts using weapon techniques. Such arts include Laido, Naginata-do, Bojutsu and Kendo. She conditioned her body to be flexible and swift and also to stand severe amounts of torture in order to endure pain. She inflicted stabs, stings from various poisonous animals and also hunger upon herself. Every day she swore repeatedly while training to fulfill "V's" ideas and liberate the people of London. In her pocket, she kept the decrepit toilet paper that held Valerie's autobiography constantly reading it over and over reminding herself that she should be strong and determined. "Every last inch of me shall perish. Except one…"

Two years to the day after the death of her mentor, November 5th, Evey was ready to face the obstacles which lay before her. She was the phoenix that rose from the ashes.

The first glimpse for Evey of the outside world since "V's" Viking funeral led her through the streets of London. Stealthily, she dodged various fingermen while plotting various acts of liberation. Suddenly, she heard a chilling scream belonging to that of a small child. Running in the direction of the scream, memories of the time she was almost raped by the fingermen rushed into her head along with the hate that accompanied it. Rounding a corner on Jacob Street, she saw three grown men beating a small boy with batons. With lightning fast reflexes she pulled out two knives and threw them at the fingermen. They both entered the bodies of the men at their throats. The third man looked up in surprise and reached into his back pocket to draw his gun but Evey was too fast for him. She ran up to him, pulled a third knife from her waist and slit the wrist on his hand that was holding the gun and then slit his throat. He fell to the ground, dead. Evey then picked up the now unconscious boy and carried him back to the gallery feeling a bit of excitement after her first successful kills.
