Slowly drifting through her own mind, Ruby started regaining her consciousness. When everything cleared in her vision, it seemed like everything came back to her in an instant. To this, she sprouted her wings, readied her wand, and was ready to attack. Luckily Tsukune(Actually being useful for once) shoved a can of tea in her face, causing her to stop immediately.
"Here Ruby, have some tea. And don't worry, everyone else already has on." Tsukune said, pointing to behind himself.
Everyone, Sai and myself included were drinking tea.
"If you think you can buy me with tea, then you got another thing coming." Ruby stated.
"That's not we're trying to do at all." Tsukune said.
"That's what you're trying to do. And another thing, stop saying 'we' like we're all friends here." I said, downing my tea.
"Yeah, 'cause I'm pretty sure you don't have any friends." Sai added.
As they began conversing, I took the time to go outside the tent and sit on the beach. I took a photo out from my jacket pocket and stared at it. It was one of my parents.
"If only you two were here to see me now. My life has gone in complete 180's. From a life of normalcy, to a life of blood, lies, and bullets, now to a life where I'm going to a school for monsters. To think my life would have som many ups and downs over the past few years." I said, listening to the ocean waves rolling and crashing on the beach front.
Enjoying the peace the ocean was bringing me, I suddenly felt a giant surge of power behind me. I wasn't scared or anything. I was only left to my curiousity. Then it dawned on me as to who it was coming from.
"Are you that desperate to prove that you're the dominate one, Lance? Whatever it is you have in store from here on in, isn't any of my concern. If this is about me being stronger that Sai, then I don't care." I said disconceringly.
"You know exactly what this is about. I don't care if you are stronger than Sai, I want to fight you. I want to test your power firsthand. In the honor of the Blade Clan." Lance responded.
"I really hate the word honor. Everyone ninja I've ever come across has always used it, and many have died for it. Besides, I'm not going to stain my family name over a pointless fight. I don't give a damn about what you want or what you do. Just leave me be." I responded.
"Maybe I'll fight that sister of yours." He said darkly.
"Leave her out of this!" I shouted. "I swear, if you lay one finger on my sister, I will personally destroy your entire fucking family! Sai and Serena included. That is no empty threat. That is a promise." I said getting up to face him.
"Are you all talk and no action, Castro?" He asked.
"Don't take me so lightly. People who have underestimated me tend to die. Just ask Dracula. That's right, you can't, because he's dead." I replied. "If we're done here, I'd like to be left alone."
"As you wish." He said, disappearing.
I began tensing up. Lance's words angered me to the point of boiling over. I haven't been this angry since having to kill so many innocent people. Almost ready to explode, I felt a sudden chill in the air.
"Hey Damion, what are you doing out here?" Mizore asked from behind me.
"Just to get some fresh air. I only wanted a few minutes to myself. A few minutes to think." I replied.
"How are your wounds healing?" She asked, wrapping her arms around me.
"Slowly. Those were magically enchanted vines that dug into my body, it'll be awhile before they heal completely." I said, touching my abdomen.
"You seem concerned about something. Do you want to talk about it?" She asked.
I only sank my head as she had asked that question. I didn't want her concerning herself with my problems. Her, just like everyone else, I wanted keep her out of it.
"Damion, are you okay? You look a little pale." She said, turning me around and touching my right cheek.
Yeah, I'm okay...I'm not so comfortable with the fact that Tsukune almost got hurt. Not that I like him or anything, but it's only Moka I care about. I just need to be stronger, so no one else nearly or does get hurt because of me." I said hanging my head.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"All of my life, people have sacrificed themselves for me. So I could continue to live on. What's the point of living if someone you care about is gonna die for you? I never want to see that happen ever again. Not from anyone." I said, with bringing my head up to look a the moon.
"Damion, you gotta understand that we'll do anything for you." Mizore said.
"Fine...I know that much you'll do. That doesn't mean I want you to do it. Aside from my sister, you're too important to me to lose. I never wanna see you die, Mizore." I said, with the bangs of my hair covering my eyes. "Not for someone like me."
As the coversation between me and Mizore had rolled on, everyone else was asleep. Soon, so were me and Mizore. Ruby had gone back to Witch Hill, holding the can of tea that she threw at Tsukune, and for some strange reason, music was playing in the background. As she got back to her home, she saw the one she calls 'Her Ladyship'.
"Your Ladyship..I.."Ruby started, before suddenly vines came out of nowhere and restrained all of her limbs and wrapped around her body.
The vines also had the can of tea.
"No, Your Ladyship, I would never betray you! Please, no, I'm yours!" She shouted as she struggled to get free.
Then as Her Ladyship twisted the can completely, the same happened to Ruby and she screamed.
*Back to us*
"Guys, I can't find Ruby!" Tsukune said, very worried.
"What the fuck do you care." I said in a very unconcerned tone.
"Dude, why are you so tense?" Sai asked.
"Because, I'm tired of having to correct every fucking mistake this kid makes. It's annoying and very very terrible energy wasting. I've been fighting ever since I was an assassin and I'm getting pretty damn tired of fighting all the fucking time!" I shout.
"I know it gets pretty annoying having to save his ass on the daily basis, but when we get back to school, you can pound him in the dirt for a month, how's that sound?" Sai asked.
"That'll be a real stress reliever." I said, starting to feel better about the situation.
"Wait, what?! Don't I get a say in this?!" Tsukune shouted.
Sai and I only glared at him, making him resent every word he said just then. As we were returning to Witch Hill to find Ruby, I had a bad feeling that something was behind us. Sai saw that there were vines about about to grab us, but before he could warn us a vine had wrapped around his throat. I turned around in time to see him.
"Sai!" I said, shoot the vine around his throat.
"Thanks, but there are more." He said, shooting the vines going toward the girls.
"Right." I say, shooting the one surrounding me and Sai.
"Tsukune, if you wanna be deemed of any use at all, take of Moka's rosary, right now!" Sai ordered.
Then we heard a maniacal laugh, but judging by the voice, we knew who it was.
"Is that Ruby?" I asked.
"Yeah." Sai answered.
"Why have you returned to our hill, human scum?!" She barked.
"Hey, you should at least be grateful that we even care about your sorry ass! We're here for you!" I shouted.
"And if you haven't noticed a lot of us aren't human!" Sai shouted.
"Leave here, now!" Ruby ordered.
"Over my dead body!" I shouted.
"Very well, I'll kill you first and then I'll slaughter your friends." Ruby said.
"We'll see about that, Ruby." I said.
She then summoned a mass amount of plant monsters, which Sai and I were a state of disbelief.
"Oh, shit...Sai, this isn't looking good.." I said, backing up.
"Yeah, I can see that." Sai said, looking around, seeing nothing but plant monsters.
Everyone was back to back as we were surrounded by the carnivorous, hulking brutes. I quickly reached for Moka's rosary and snatched it off. Her monster energy flowed out in massive waves. Ruby was slightly taken aback by Moka's power.
"Ruby, it doesn't have to be this way, just stop all of this and let us go." I said, still looking at the opposition.
"Damion, don't waste your breath. If she isn't going to listen to reason, then we might as well beat it into her." Sai said, setting fire to a few of the monsters.
Moka and I kicked some away, while Mizore, Kurumu, and Yukari took some out as well. I was punched back by one of them and I bumped into Tsukune.
"Get out of the damn way. You're being a fucking pain in the ass again. This isn't a place for someone like you." I said, summoning my sword.
"Yeah, if you're just gonna stand there, then go back to the campsite or die or something." Sai said, summoning two demonic Straight Swords.
Kurumu, Mizore, and Yukari joined Sai and myself in our back to back formation. Mizore had he ice claws at the ready, Kurumu had her claws ready to slice through the monster that stood before us, and Yukari had her wand ready for combat.
"Alright ladies and gentleman, are we ready to do this?" I asked, unsheathing my sword.
"Ready!" They all shout, taking battle stances.
"Let's rock!" I shouted attacking mass amount of plant monsters at once, slicing them to pieces.
Mizore shot the enemies she faced, using her ice as projectiles. Kurumu, just like me, sliced through good chucks of them like they were nothing. Sai was doing the same, but he filled his swords with his demonic energy that set them ablaze. In combination of him slice through the plant monsters he also sent fire slashes through the air to cut through them as well. If the slash didn't cut through them, then it burnt them to ashes. Yukari used her wand to summon her tarot cards to cut through her opposition. We thought we were making good progress, but more kept coming. We kept up our fight. Moka on the other hand had her hands full with fighting Ruby.
"Instead of letting you leave, I'll just have you and your friends die on this hill!" Ruby screamed, using her want to command some of the monsters to attack Moka.
Moka kick the one right in front of her and sent that one into the others. The flew to our side of the battlefield.
"Over my dead body." Moka said, glaring at her.
"That can easily be arranged." Ruby said, conjuring vines to charge at Moka.
Moka easily dodged them all to get closer to Ruby. As she did, we were killing the plant monsters that we were faced with and took great satisfaction from it. Moka got close enough to attack Ruby and did an ax kick to her face, sending her crashing down to her dead minions down below.
"I'll take blood over peace." Moka said.
"Killing these things makes it good to be alive!" I shout as I get a crazy look in my eyes from making my sword go through multiple plant monsters.
Mizore froze my sword and Yukari used her magic to make the ice extend to about 20 feet long and sharpen as if it were a sword. I swung ridding most of our opposition from the eye can see, but more kept coming.
"It's like there's no end to these fucking things." Sai said, hacking and slashing away at his plant victims.
At that moment, I remembered Ruby always talking about some she called 'Her Ladyship'.
"Tsukune, if you wanna make yourself useful in any way possible go to that house on the other side!" I commanded.
"What?! Why?!" Tsukune asked.
"The person Ruby calls 'Her Ladyship might be there! Maybe that will clear some of this up! Hurry up and go!" I responded. "Girls make sure he gets there, Sai and I got this."
The girls, along with Tsukune did as I told them to. Sai and I got ready for our team attack that we've worked on back at the academy.
"Sai, are you ready?" I asked.
"Yeah, let's do this." Sai answered.
I began running around thousands of the plant monsters that Ruby had conjured from underground. As I was running around them, some of them tried to attack me, but I quickly dodged them and continued running. Sai was steadily making a massive ball of fire. Soon a tornado was beginning to form and some of the monsters were getting pulled in. Once the tornado was complete, Sai launched the fireball into it.
"Die motherfuckers!" Sai screamed as he threw his fire ball into the tornado I created.
I quickly jumped away from the tornado and watched it become a fiery, blazing hell trap.
"We call that one 'The Hellfire tornado'." Sai said, smiling from ear to ear.
What was left of that area was nothing but scorch marks.
"That's it, I've had enough of you two!" Ruby shouted.
We then saw Tsukune come back from the house on the other side of the hill.
"Tsukune, what's up with 'Her Ladyship'?" I asked.
"Ruby, please stop this. 'Her Ladyship isn't even here anymore. She's gone." Tsukune said, catching his breath.
"What are you talking about? She's in the house." Ruby retorted.
"That's just it, I went to the house and she was dead! She's been dead this whole time!" Tsukune shouted.
Ruby looked at him in disbelief. She had no idea that she had only imagined 'Her Ladyship' being with this whole time. She deluded herself from the truth for so long. Her heart sank into the inner depths of depression and her soul was gripped by anger and everything else seemed to become her enemy.
"No! No!" Ruby screamed as she activated a forbidden spell among witches.
Suddenly the girls were captured in a giant ball of vines.
"Girls!" I shouted as I was going to save them, but a vine wrapped around my body and began to tighten.
"I've got you now." She said in a maniacal tone of voice.
"Don't get so cocky." I said, setting my body ablaze, burning the vine around me.
I then released a lot of my power in the form of fire to get most of the vines around Sai as well as myself.
"Sai, weapon form. We're ending this fight once and for all." I said, dispelling my fire.
"You got it." Sai replied as he turned into his weapon form.
Sai then came down from the air and I caught him. I then swung him around stylishly and took the traditional samurai stance. I ran toward Ruby quickly as she commanded vines to attack me. I sliced my way through them and cut down her minions as well. I was then close enough to strike her wand and destroy it. Before I could land my strike, a vine pierced through my stomach. It then threw me to the other side of the hill. I got up, holding my wound and coughing up some blood.
"Is this truly the best you have to offer Castro? If you truly wish to protect the bonds of friendship that you have created, then you will not lose here. Maybe I was right about you being all talk and no action." Lance says, easily provoking me.
"I won't lose here, I guarantee you that. I've already lost so many of my friends, I'm not gonna lose anymore. I won't die until I get my revenge and avenge their deaths." I say, getting up and wiping the blood from my mouth.
"Damion, let's end this with Soul Resonance." Sai says, ready to do so.
"Yeah." I said, ready to do so.
"Let's go, Soul Resonance!" We both shouted and began to amplify our soul wavelengths.(If anyone is confused with this, then this is me and Sai after the events of Genuine Souls, which I plan to finish some time in coming months. The only reason Damion and Sai didn't know each other in the beginning, Damion hasn't seen Sai in nearly a year.)
"This is it, Ruby! This is where we put you out of your misery!" Sai shouted.
I stabbed Sai into the ground and fire generated everywhere, burning all of Ruby's plant monsters. Once I took Sai out of the ground, his blade was 10 feet longer. Ruby sent more vines after me, but I dodged them and sliced through the ones that I couldn't dodge. I jumped in the air, to attempt to destroy Ruby's wand, but a vine smacked me back down. I quickly recovered and decided to do a fire slash. Ruby commanded vines to protect her wand, but the fire slash easily cut through them and Ruby's wand. Her monstrous form was destroyed and we had brought peace back to the world of humans. Sai then returned to normal, but he and I both fell to our knees from using too much power.
"Hey, Sai, I think you should go back to see your family." I said, breathing heavily.
"What? Nah, man, that's what summer break is for." Sai said.
"No, you deserve it. Go back home, relax, be with your family." I say, getting to one knee.
"Are you sure, man?" Sai asked in a disheartened tone.
"You deserve it. Say hello to your mom and dad for me." I say as we both get to our feet and give each other a bro hug.
The ball of vines, which had kept the girls imprisoned, had disappeared after Ruby's wand was destroyed. Mizore, Moka, Yukari, and Kurumu came to hug both me and Sai for saving the day.
*The next day*
We were packing up and getting ready to go back to Yokai Academy. We then saw our Newspaper Club president, coming to us holding a girl bridle style. At first we looked confused, but then we saw who she was.
"Hey guys." Gin said, happily.
"RUBY!" We all shouted in surprise.
"You know her? I found her floating in the ocean. Just floating there like nothing could harm her." Gin explained.
We then saw that Ruby had a smile upon her lips. Happy to be rid of her self illusions of her former caretaker. We took Ruby back with us and after we returned, Sai gave his farewell address and left to be with his family. I stood on the roof of the boys dorm to watch him leave and I felt a little sad, having to watch a friend go, but I wouldn't let that discourage me a lot. I know he'll be back and when he does come back, there will be serious hell raising to be done.
*Author's Notes*
This will the last chapter for awhile, because I really don't like this anime. I remember every episode, though, so making the chapters won't be a problem, it's just I don't see much a reason to continue working on a fanfiction for an anime that I really fucking hate. The characters are bland and very contradicting, the story makes NO sense, the setting for what happens is confusing, some of the dialog and writing is atrocious, and the fact that it's a harem anime makes it all the more displeasing to watch. This anime cannot be re-watched by any means other than to get a few chuckles in and that's it. If I wanted to laugh at an anime for its crazy and unworldly humor, I'd watch Ouran High School Host Club, or Negima. I won't be updating this fanfiction any time soon, so for those who have enjoyed reading this, I'm sorry. Somewhere in the near future, I'll probably have this done or at least update a few more chapters, but that's it. I have too many other things that I'm trying to work on and this isn't one of those things. If anyone wants something better to read, then read Genuine Souls.
