Chapter 19

A/N: Wedding and Leaving

Sorry it had take me a few days to send a new update. My laptop decided to die on me. Also if you read the 1st version of that disregard it. I found a glaring mistake I missed the 1st time so I took it down and reposted it. There will be a few chapters of sadness and sorrow so get the tissues

Suzanne rolled over in her bed and was disoriented for a minute as to where she was. She and Benjamin had moved into their new house a few weeks ago and it was a great starter home. Waking up fully a smile came to her face as she was thinking about becoming Mrs. Benjamin Adams in a few hours.

She walked into the kitchen and it was all abuzz with activity. Everyone was eating breakfast and talking at once. She smiled, this high activity is what she loved about her big family. Her Dad looked up at her and smiled.

"What has you all aglow today, is something special happening?" he asked with a smirk on his face.

She laughed at him and said, "Oh nothing really."

Everyone laughed at her nonchalant answer and her calmness. Ellen remembered her wedding day and the nerves she felt. She hoped the day would go as planned and nothing would ruin it for her daughter.

Eric walked in and looked over at his Dad and slowly nodded his head. They had a surprise for the happy couple and he had finished the prep work for it.

The hairdresser and makeup ladies were in full swing working on all the women. Suzanne was finished and walked in to put on her dress. She looked at it and tears came to her eyes. She had found the dress in the attic while looking for some candle holders. It turns out it was her Grandmother's dress. It was perfectly preserved, just needing a dry cleaning and some alterations made. It had turned out perfect and she was so happy to be wearing it today.

The wedding party made their way to the church and everyone except Suzanne was out in the chapel having pictures taken. A knock on the door brought her out of her thoughts.

She asked who it was thinking Benjamin found a way to sneak off and see her. Isiah called out and she opened the door for him.

He walked in and his breath was taken away. He did not know that she was wearing this dress and his mind immediately went back to seeing his bride in the dress many years ago.

He walked up and hugged her with tears in his eyes. "Suzanne, your grandmother would be so proud of you today and you wearing her dress is perfect. I have something for you." He opened a box and inside were the most beautiful blue sapphire earrings. Her breath caught at the beauty of them.

"These were your grandmother's and she made me promise to give them to you on your wedding day. This will be something blue for your wedding. I am so proud of you and I love you very much," he said, pulling her into a tight hug.

Both had tears in their eyes as she removed them and placed them on her ears. She turned and looked in the mirror and said,"They are so perfect. I love you Grandpop. This is why Mom would not let me pick out earrings to wear. Did she know?"

"Yes, we had a conversation about it a while ago. She was so happy that I would be around for your wedding. She insisted that I be the one to give them to you and tell you the story of them. These stones were brought here from Scotland many years ago. For a long time they were just loose stones. My grandfather had them made for his bride for the day they were married. They were then passed down to the next generation for their wedding. Now you will wear them and make the bride even prettier." he told her with tears running down his face.

He gave her one last hug and wiped away her tears.

He left and soon another knock at the door. Her Mom walked in and she too was stunned at the beauty of her daughter.

She walked over and hugged her. "Mom don't start crying, if you do I will and it will ruin my makeup." she laughed.

Ellen stepped back and unfolded some delicate paper. She reached in and pulled out a handkerchief. "This has been carried by every bride in my family for generations. You can carry it today as your something old."

Suzanne took it and tucked it into the sleeve of her dress, she was sure tears would be shed and it would come in handy. Her Mom left and she was again left alone.

Soon she heard another knock, she opened the door expecting her Dad. To her surprise it was Evelyn, her maid of honor.

Evelyn and Eric had married about 2 years ago and she and Suzanne had become extremely close.

"Suzanne, I have something for you." She opened her hand and it had an anklet with a horseshoe attached. "Eric bought me this on our honeymoon and I want you to have it as your something borrowed," she told her.

Suzanne took the item and sat down to attach it to her ankle. She then stood and admired it in the full length mirror.

She turned to Evelyn with tears in her eyes and hugged her. "Thank you, it is very thoughtful of you to let me borrow this."

Evelyn returned the hug and then turned and walked out of the room.

Soon her Mom and Dad joined her.

"Are you ready to go Baby Girl?" Joe asked.

Joe took her arm and stopped at the double doors, once they heard the organ music change and the doors opened. He walked her down the aisle to Benjamin at the altar.

Benjamin had the biggest smile on his face and tears in his eyes watching her walk towards him.

Her Grandpop Isiah performed a beautiful service and soon pronounced them husband and wife.

Benjamin kissed his bride and hand in hand they walked down the aisle.

The reception was held at the reception center at the back of the church. Once all the photos were taken and the bride and groom joined the party the fun could begin.

There was a first dance, cutting cake, speeches by both Dads, Mom and son dance and Dad and daughter dance. Everyone was having a great time and Benjamin's impending draft status was put out of their minds for the night.

The garter and bouquets were tossed and soon it was time for Suzanne and Benjamin to leave.

His parents had given them a trip to Paris for their honeymoon. They were flying to New York in the morning then off to Paris for 10 days. They decided to spend their first night as husband and wife in their home.

A carriage pulled up and Benji was the lead horse in the trio of horses. Benjamin and Suzanne exited the church to a shower of rice and he helped her into the carriage. The cans tied to the back of the carriage made them both laugh when Eric, who was driving the carriage, put the horses in motion.

It was only a few blocks to their house, but Eric decided to take a different route and the ride ended up being almost an hour.

Benjamin and Suzanne were in the back of the carriage cuddling together enjoying the ride and occasionally kissing each other.

Eric pulled to a stop and Benjamin jumped out and helped her out. Hand in hand they walked into their home. This is the beginning of their life together as husband and wife.
