Killian sat in the front row of the auditorium. Onstage, Emma and Archie were practicing their scene together. Archie sat by the pipe organ that sat on the stage.
"Ding Dong"
"Ding Dong"
"Ding Dong"
Archie hit a ridiculously high note. Emma jumped, then burst out laughing. Archie turned to her. "I'm sorry, I just wasn't expecting that to happen," She said between laughs. Archie looked indignant, but shrugged. Killian watched the scene warily. Emma was leaning on Archie's shoulder. They were talking, laughing about nothing in particular. Killian didn't like it.
"They're just friends," he thought to himself "no need to overthink this. Why are you getting so worked up about her talking to him anyway? Two months ago you couldn't stand each other. Pull it together, Jones." Killian knew that he was overreacting.
But he couldn't stop thinking about when she kissed him.
Someone sat down beside him. "Whatcha doing?" Belle asked, pulling him from his thoughts. He didn't answer but she saw him watching Emma onstage. "Something bothering you, Killian?" Again, no response. She smirked. "If I didn't know better I'd say you were jealous."
Killian turned to her. "Jealous? Of who?"
"Of Archie talking to your leading lady," She commented.
"Don't be ridiculous Belle. I'm not jealous of Archie! That would mean-"
"That you have feelings for Emma. And of course that's ridiculous. I mean, it's not like you two spend every rehearsal together and you're always stealing glances at her and your face lights up whenever she's around." Belle folded her arms. "We've been friends for a long time, Killian. Do you think I wouldn't notice you acting different?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
Belle rolled her eyes. "You're impossible, you know that?" She stood up. "Just talk to her."
Killian glared. Belle put her hands on her hips. "Fine," he muttered, "just never refer to her as 'my leading lady' again."
"Whatever you say," Belle grinned. She walked away, then stopped next to Elsa working on sets. "They're idiots."
Elsa smirked. "No argument here." Emma had been weird since the kiss too.
Ruby walked out from backstage. "Everyone! The costumes are here!" The actors rushed to the dressing rooms to see the costumes. Belle grabbed the hanger with her name on it and found a wig labeled for her on one of the makeup tables. She went to get changed.
Emma stepped out of the dressing room in her costume. It fit perfectly, even if the corset was a little uncomfortable. She found Elsa and did a little twirl. "How do I look?"
"Gorgeous, darling. Have you tried the wig yet?"
"Not yet, the tables are super crowded right now." She saw Henry walking over. "Nice outfit kid"
"Thanks," Henry said. He held up the ascot that was part of the costume. "Do you know how to tie this?"
"I thought it was just a normal knot," Emma replied. "Here, let me help." She took the scarf and tied it in place.
Henry smiled. "Thanks. Have you seen Killian yet? He looks awesome."
"I'm sure I'll see him soon enough."
Belle walked out of the dressing room nervously. Ariel had told her she looked great, but Belle thought she was just saying that to be nice. A few seconds later, the boys' dressing room door opened. Out walked Will. He turned around. His jaw dropped. "You look beautiful."
"Really? You don't think the wig looks ridiculous?"
"Well it's not as pretty as your real hair," Will admitted. Belle blushed. "I'm serious. You look amazing."
"You look pretty great too." Belle smiled. "I like the jacket."
Will put his arm around Belle. They walked back onstage. Ariel and Eric waved them over.
"What do you think of my Pirelli mustache?" Eric asked.
"As believable as your Italian accent, mate" Will joked. Eric frowned and Ariel hid a smile.
Eric looked over Belle's shoulder. "Killian! You look great, man!" Belle and Will turned around. Killian stood in the wings in costume. He strode towards the group grinning.
"Thank you, you all look excellent as well." Killian turned to Belle. "Nice hair."
"Thanks." She rolled her eyes. "Is Emma dressed yet? I saw her wig still in the dressing room."
Killian shrugged, then noticed Elsa talking to someone in the wings. He headed over to see if it was Emma.
"Swan! What do you think?" Killian called. Emma turned away from her group. Her eyes went wide. He looked good. Really good. Killian gave her a questioning look. "Something wrong, Emma?"
Emma blinked. "You look great," she answered. Emma gestured to her skirt. "What do you think of this monstrosity?"
"You look lovely, Swan," Killian said sincerely. Emma stood there for a moment, unsure of how to react. Killian raised an eyebrow. "although I do have some questions about how you plan to dance in that thing."
"Baby steps, Jones" Emma smiled.
Ruby shouted to the group. "Let's run through the show in costumes. Places, everyone!"
Killian turned to Emma. "You heard the lady." He offered his arm. "Shall we?"
Emma took it with a small smile. "Let's do this."
