The Daily Lives of The Owl Familia:
Where's Ghost?

Summary: If Palismen are supposed to be bonded to their witches for life, where was Ghost during Amity's crisis?

Timeline: A few minutes before Hunter came to Blight Manor

Ghost was mad, no she was beyond that point. She was downright furious with her witch's parents. She wanted nothing more than to run up to Odalia and claw her eyes out. She knew that would do nothing, and she decided to focus on Amity's father.

And it was taking all of Ghost's control not to claw the male witch's eyes out.

Since Odalia cursed her daughter, Amity had tried to do everything to get someone's attention. She had hoped that her dad would be able to piece it together from the small clues she was leaving. But it was all in vain, Alador was just too oblivious to see the signs Amity was giving him.

Ghost growled to herself as she watched the inventor work and checked the clock on the wall. Since the Palisman had been keeping tabs on her witch's mom, she knew that the boy she and Amity fought was coming soon. She figured that would be the best time to try and get Alador to see what was going on.

Now, if she could only get that thick-headed witch to follow her. She saw her opening when Alador went to pick up an essential tool for his work, and she acted; Ghost ran up and jumped into the table.

"Ghost, what are you doing?" Alador screeched as the palisman took the tool from him.

Ghost jumped down and made a mad dash to the door. She felt the surge of magic thanks to her originals and dodged Abomination puddles Adalor made to stop her. She made it out of the door and felt like gloating as she heard footsteps.

The cat-like palisman pushed herself a little harder as Alador began to gain ground, and soon the two were near the front of the manor. She dropped the tool and took a seat as Alador came up to her.

The inventor was flustered as he panted slightly. He looked ready to tear into his daughter's palisman when he heard a voice.

"Mrs. Blight. I thought I requested to see both you and your husband?"

Alador gasped as he recognized the voice of the golden guard, and dared a look. He was surprised to see Belos's right hand talking to his wife, and even more surprised when Odalia informed him Alador was too busy to attend.

Alador wasn't an idiot and knew that something was about to happen. As such, he was about to join his wife. He was stopped when Ghost gave him an angry hiss and he looked down at the creature. The cat gave him a glare that remained the inventor of his daughter and stopped him in his tracks.

He realized that Ghost knew more than him about what was going on, and decided to follow her lead. Keeping to the shadows, Alador listened to Odalia and the Golden Guard's talk, and what he learned made his stomach turn.

Amity, his Mittens had been cursed…with out of the Nine Most Dangerous Spells on the Isles. Alador felt sicker when he realized something, Amity had been trying to tell him about the curse throughout the week.

The inventor gathered himself; he couldn't afford to fall apart now, not when his little girl needed him.

Alador continued to eavesdrop on his wife's meeting with Hunter and noticed subtle changes in Odalia when the young man brought out a sheet of paper with the Company's logo on it.

He had known Odalia for most of his life and was more familiar with her quirks than she realized. And it made him sick to his stomach when he realized that she had a hand cursing her own daughter!

"You knew this, didn't you?" Alador asked the cat dryly.

Ghost gave a meow to confirm her witch's father's thoughts and this made Alador all that madder. With a growl, Alador returned his attention to his wife and the Golden Guard.

He debuted about comforting Odalia right at that moment but decided to wait. He knew Odalia well enough to know she would work things in her favor. So, he would wait until her meeting with Hunter was done to talk to her.

Alador was about to follow her after Hunter left, but was stopped when Ghost meowed at him. The inventor had a newfound respect for the Palisman and decided to trust her. He saw she was looking past the manor and did a quick spell circle. He was magically connected to one of his security drones near the outskirts of the manor.

When he saw the Clawthorne sisters approaching the manor, Alador realized just how serious things were. His old classmates were some of the few people Amity trusted. So if they were involved in this, it couldn't mean anything good.

Alador made his decision then and there; with a quick spell, he gave the sisters top access to the manor.

"Amity, if you are in danger, I will find a way to help you," Alador swore to himself, and his eyes glowed with magic as his face twisted with anger, "And Odalia, if you have any part in this, I wouldn't forgive you."

I wonder if anyone thought about Ghost's whereabouts when Amity was "knocked-down" at the Owl house, or how Alador even stumbled on the plot in the first place. Well, now, my dear readers, you know.
