My little contribution to Baavira week for Day 7, AU.

Summary:

Kuvira and Bataar have a happy family, and it keeps on growing.

Family fluff Baavira, who doesn't love that?

I don't own Legend of Korra.

Enjoy!

'Dear spirits what am I going to do?' Kuvira sat down on the couch in the main living room of her home, her stomach in knots and her mind was racing. The thirty-nine-year-old woman was at a loss of words, for the first time in years. With all that fate had thrown her way, this was something she'd hoped to prevent, something she and her husband had discussed almost four years ago.

She'd been sitting down for almost two hours, having left work early when her lunch 'paid a visit' during a meeting with the Zaofu city council. It was supposed to be a short one, merely going over the monthly budgets for small trades and outside purchases, when during the middle, she'd 'lost' her lunch all over councilman Heng Fu, on his new and expensive tunic which he'd bragged about for ten straight minutes. The meeting ended with Kuvira have her assistant say they would continue the next day, but she would visit a doctor first. It wasn't the first time she'd gotten sick, and she did think that sandwich tasted strange but the salad was fine.

Knock knock knock

"Honey, we're home!" the front door opened and Kuvira stood to greet her husband and their three children. The kids got to her first, and she bent down giving each one a kiss on the cheek and a hug, though the longest hug came from their four-year-old son Chul.

"Mom, I got the solo part in dance class!" Kuvira's face broke into a grin at her eldest child, Jade Beifong, only twelve years old, a mini version of her mother, but with much less anger issues.

"That's wonderful baby, I bet your grandma was so proud." The child nodded happily.

"She said if I keep it up I can be a professional! I told her I'd be the best!" she smoothed her daughter's hair.

"I told you didn't I? If you work hard enough you can do anything."

"I did! Hey, can we have cake for dessert tonight?" Bataar gave his daughter a look. "Ooh, I mean, can we have cake tonight please?" that got him smiling, Kuvira shook her head but smiled too.

"Jade you've had cake every night this week, let's eat something else for dessert and that's only IF you eat everything on your plate this time." The girl pouted but nodded.

"Alright, now…" Kuvira turned her attention to their middle child, Seok, ten-year-old bookworm but an art lover like his uncle Huan. "How was your day son?"

"It was fun, my teacher says I have a future in sculpting."

"Oh really? What did you make today?" the little boy blushed.

"It's not finished…but…I was gonna make a…" Jade rolled her eyes.

"He was going to make something that had to do with earthbenders, badgermoles or something like it." Kuvira gave Jade a stern glare.

"Young lady, what did we say about interrupting others?"

"Not to, but he talks too slow."

"It's rude to interrupt Jade, apologize to your brother." Jade wanted to argue but softened when she saw Seok's slightly hurt expression.

"Sorry little bro, I didn't mean to make you upset." Seok looked at her.

"Thanks, it's ok." Looks like they'd need to have another talk on Jade's manners, spirits that child had a mouth sometimes.

"Alright, all of you go and clean up, then start your homework we'll have dinner in an hour."

"Can we have some cookies mommy, please?" Shin asked, putting on the polar puppy dog eyes, Kuvira was going to kill Korra for teaching him that.

"One each, don't want you spoiling your food." The kids all nodded and 'ran' to the kitchen. Bataar helped his wife stand up and kissed her cheek. "We have some obnoxious kids Bataar."

"You love them anyway." She laughed.

"I do." His smile turned into a slight frown.

"Are you ok? Mother called me at work, said you got sick today." Kuvira rolled her eyes, why did Su have to be such a blabbermouth?

"It wasn't that bad, but I do need to talk to you." He looked at her concerned. "Sit down." He sat on the couch and she with him. "Now, do you remember four years ago, after Chul was born?"

"Of course, I think I'm old and smart enough to remember when our youngest son was…" she stopped him.

"No not that, what we talked about afterwards?" he took a moment to think, but his eyes widened slightly. "Well…it seems, our ways of…preventing this didn't work." He gripped her hand.

"Kuvira, are you saying…?"

"I'm pregnant." His eyes went as wide as his glasses, his mouth opened and closed several times but no words came out. "Bataar…?"

"I…I…you're…you're…oh spirits…" he ran a hand through his hair. "Are…are you sure?" she put her hands on her hips. "I mean, you saw a healer and you…?"

"I'm approximately seven weeks along, but I'm healthy as far as they could tell." Her age was something to be concerned with, getting pregnant at thirty-nine wasn't entirely impossible but, the possibility of defects or the kid having issues, Kuvira was too afraid to think of it.

"Seven weeks…" Bataar started thinking again. "That weekend the kids were with…?" Kuvira nodded. "We…we've been so careful though."

"No method is bulletproof Bataar, they told us that."

"But you kept taking the potions right?"

"I did, and while they are effective, it seems somehow your little soldiers marched on through." She laughed and he couldn't hold his back. He pulled her close to him and kissed her forehead, rubbing his hand up and down her back.

"Are you worried about…?"

"Don't say it please…" her voice sounded small.

"I'm not trying to scare you love, but…we aren't exactly spring chickens anymore." She sighed.

"I know, but we're still gorgeous, so don't call us 'old' yet."

"I didn't say old did I?" she lightly shoved him. "Hey, whatever happens, happens…unless you want…?" she shook her head.

"No, I won't even consider it." He kissed her again.

"I just had to ask." He held her in his arms again, and they both sighed.

"Spirits, we already have three…and soon we'll have four."

"Bataar…we're having a baby." He nodded into her hair.

"We're having a baby…"

"A BABY?!" the adults jumped off the couch when their other children's voices screamed in the doorway.

"Mommy, we're getting another baby?" Chul looked at her with those big eyes, and she shared a glance with Bataar before answering.

"Yes, mommy is having another baby." She half expected an upset reaction from at least one, but all three let off a happy squeal and hug-attacked her and Bataar. The two parents laughed as the kids continued with their attack, until Jade pulled back and gave a little pout with her hands on her hips.

"What's wrong Jade?" Bataar asked.

"Can the baby be a girl this time? I want a little sister." Kuvira held back the laugh, but not the chuckle. "What? We need more girls in the family, the only other ones besides me are Auntie Opal and cousin Terra."

"Sweetheart we can't exactly pick the baby's gender, we'll have to wait and see."

"When?"

"In a few weeks, when I got to the healers for a checkup we might find out then."

"But that's too long!"

"Well, it's too early to tell now, you'll just have to be patient. Speaking of which, how is your earth bending training coming?" all three kids were benders, Su had been over the moon, all were good students but still had a good bit to learn.

"Fine, grandma said if we keep it up we can learn how to spar." Bataar frowned.

"I'll need to speak with her on that tomorrow." He whispered to Kuvira, and she was going to have a chat with him later.

"But seriously! I want a little sister so make sure we have one please?!" Kuvira and Bataar just laughed.

Four weeks later:

"Alright Mrs. Beifong, you just sit right in here, and we'll see how the little one's doing." Healer Ruki smiled at Kuvira, helping her into the healing tub. She'd been there to deliver all her babies, having learned from the main healer who deliver all of Su's children.

"Thank you." Kuvira looked at Bataar, he'd insisted on coming to this appointment just as he had with all her previous pregnancies. He was so devoted; it was almost suffocating so they'd talk later.

"Now before we begin, do you have any concerns you want to discuss?"

"Actually yes." Kuvira looked down at her now eleven weeks pregnant belly. "I…I'm not sure but, I feel like I'm gaining more weight than the last time I was pregnant." Ruki took a quick glance at her belly.

"Have you been overeating a little? I remember when you had little Seok you ate a lot of sugary things, and I believe with Chul it was nothing but apricots." Bataar chuckled.

"She about ripped my arms off that one time I ate the last apricot."

"I was saving it for later!" she growled and he held up his hands.

"Which is why from now on, I am going to label whatever crazy food you choose to eat this time." That and keep the kids away, they were greedy little monsters when they wanted snacks.

"See to it." Kuvira turned her attention back to Ruki, who did her little waterbending motions and the tub water glowed brightly. She hummed a little tune as she worked, something light and tranquil Kuvira imagined, it kept her nerves calm during the whole thing. Ruki kept up her work until her eyes went slightly wide, and a few minutes later the water glow faded.

"Oh my…" she scratched her chin. "This is most unusual…"

"What…what's wrong?" Kuvira felt fear grip her, her hands went to hold her belly. Was something wrong with the baby? With her? Why was Ruki so quiet?

"I'll be right back, just give me five minutes." Ruki ran out before Kuvira could stop her. Bataar went to his wife's side and held her hands. He was worried too, but he whispered sweet words in her ears, trying to keep her calm.

"It'll be ok babe, it'll be ok."

"I hope so, but what if something's wrong? The baby…" he hugged her.

"Whatever she says, we'll deal with it. It'll be alright." She truly hoped he was right; she would love their child no matter what but if they were sick or what…she didn't want to know. Not now, not yet. Quickly enough Ruki came back holding a file, and she looked a little pale.

"Ooh dear, my my this is completely unexpected…"

"Ruki…what's going on? What's wrong with my baby?" Ruki gave a sheepish smile.

"Oh dear, I'm sorry but nothing's wrong with the babies, in fact…well…"

"Wait, did you just say babies?" Bataar stared at her.

"Yes, babies." She scratched the back of her head. "But…that's not the unusual part. You see, I took a quick look at your file, and well…" she took a breath. "I might as well just say it, your potions were mixed up." Kuvira stared.

"Potions…the contraceptives?"

"Yes you see, we recently hired a new intern and while she's a sweet girl with an eagerness to learn, she also has a blind spot. She's not allowed to 'admit' or 'advise' patients yet, so we have her working in inventory. It seems that in her work a few months back, she accidentally gave you some fertility potions." Kuvira's eyes widened.

"F-Fertility…"

"Yes, it was a label mix-up, another couple who's been trying takes the same potions, but the coloring is similar. It not only explains a pregnancy at your age, but it also tells me why you're having not one, but three babies." Kuvira could have sworn her jaw dropped to the floor.

"Wh…what…how many?" Bataar said it first.

"Three, congratulations mommy and daddy, you're having triplets!" both parents' jaws dropped to the floor, but Kuvira took one glance at her belly again, and her heart warmed as she felt her children moving inside.

"T-Tri…triplets…" Kuvira turned to her husband, his mouth had a nervous, shaky smile, and his eyes had expressions of happiness, shock, and nervousness flickering. His forehead was sweating too, and she grabbed his hand.

"Baby, like you said it'll all be ok. Hey, remember that story about what your dad said when he found out Su was having the twins?" he shook his head. "The more the merrier!" she laughed, and he gave a nervous laugh.

"The m-more…the m-m-merrier…" one last little laugh and his eyes rolled into the back of his head.

THUD!

Well I had to stop it somewhere lol, but I hope you all enjoyed it still. Would you believe it wrote this in just four hours? I've been sick all weekend with a chest cold and bada bing bada boom I got some energy to write.

Spoiler alert: Kuvira had two girls and one boy, and this time she made sure afterwards this would be her LAST pregnancy.

Don't we all love some Baavira family fluff? Please leave a comment they are much appreciated!
