Kai'sa awoke to the sound of birds making a ruckus in the morning, she was curled up next to the top of the chimney of the guest house. She felt almost spoiled, she had slept alone and exposed most of her life, yet here she was missing a bed, maybe she was just missing Taliyah, she didn't know for sure. Something about the young weaver made Kai'sa weak, soft, and even though her entire life was an evolution to become stronger, tougher, for some strange reason she enjoyed being made weak, it was like someone returning her humanity to her. "Guards to the Gate! Guards to the gate!" Kai'sa perks up as she hears commotion stirring about on the grounds beneath her. "Hmmm I wonder what they are in a hurry for," Kai'sa said quietly to herself as she leaned up from her miserable night's sleep. She thought about using the opportunity to sneak down and say hi to Taliyah but she knew that was a terrible idea, might just get her in trouble. I'm no good for her, she thought, but the words didn't sit the same with her as the first time she thought that, before they were cold, blunt, a fact she had no protest with. However now the words burned in her, to the point she wanted to object fiercely to the thoughts that were crowding her head.
Interrupting her thoughts, she noticed the guards walking back from the front gate with a familiar vastyla in tow. They were escorting the hunter Rengar to the palace, she noticed that he wasn't tied up at all though one of the guards did carry his weapons as a precaution. "What are you doing here you little thief," Kai'sa said to herself, still bitter about him stealing the gold she won. She inquisitively watched as the guards took him all the way across the property to the palace, "Fuck you all and your empire!" Kai'sa heard a familiar voice and turned around to notice Taliyah being let out of the palace grounds. No guards were leaving with her, it would appear they were no longer holding her as she flipped off the guards while leaving the palace grounds. Little firefly as always, Kai'sa thought as she noticed the gate shutting that she could have dashed through to join Taliyah again, "Shit!" Kai'sa said as she noticed the gate closing just too late. "Damn, Damn it Kaisa, some monster is still on the loose, I gotta catch up to her." She talked to herself as she looked around for anything she could use to sneak off the property.
By this time the fireplace had been put out because the cool of the night had already faded away beneath the burning sun of Shurima. Kai'sa leaned over and began crawling down the chimney, pressing against each wall to make her descent into the guest house slow and quiet. She closed her helmet so her breathing was quiet as well, also because the soot was really annoying to breathe in. Peeking out of the chimney, she looked around to see the guest house's lobby was empty except for the bartender cleaning glasses, she had her back faced to Kai'sa so she decided to take her chance and hoped out of the chimney. She quietly and quickly trotted over to the hallway that led to the guest rooms just to get some cover, she remembered that hallway was normally empty. "Phew" she said as she caught her breath after holding it for a bit of time to not make any noise. "Oh no…" Kai'sa then muttered as she heard some guards walking down the hallway just around the corner, "MMMMMHH!" Kai'sa squirmed as someone with rough hands covered her mouth and pulled her into a room, "shhh shhh they will hear you," a woman said as she shut the door behind them.
"Grrah get off me!" Kai'sa snapped as her suit's strength kicked in allowing her to shove the person off of her, she then noticed it was Sivir, knocked onto her butt from Kai'sa's superhuman shove. The two paused for a moment as they heard the imperial guards pass by outside, each staying completely silent as to not alert them. The two stayed motionless for a long awkward moment, each not sure if the other could be trusted as both their minds raced. Maybe Taliyah was wrong about her, she definitely looks like a killer, I see it in her eyes, the look of death, same as my own, maybe I'll give her a chance, Sivir thought as she examined Kai'sa's peculiar attire. It's that woman Taliyah knew, Sivir, who is she, what does she want, Taliyah was kind to her but she seemed to not give a damn about us, also WHY THE HELL IS SHE SO ATTRACTIVE, damm it, Kai'sa's mind raced as she wiped her nose and sniffed, trying to break the silence in the air and give her mind a hint of it. "You, you Sivir right?" Kai'sa asked sternly, still untrusting. "Ahg, yes. And your Kai'sa, correct?" Sivir replied as she picked herself up off the ground with a bit of discomfort.
"Yeah, I Didn't kill those guards!" Kai'sa exclaimed, announcing her defense to the only person who could hear her, not because she thought Sivir could help her, she was just sick of being mistaken for a monster. "Listen kid, to be honest I don't give a damn if you killed them or not, everyone has it coming. But Taliyah says you're innocent, and well, she saved my life once so I owe her a favor. I don't like owing anyone anything, are we clear about that?" Sivir said, her voice sounding sharp almost like a threat. "Um, yeah clear" Kai'sa replied, not sure of Sivir's intentions. "So, I figure helping her friend out of danger will settle things between us, at least for my concern they will." Sivir said, sounding like she was engaged in a calculated business transaction. "Um, I suppose so," Kai'sa replied, a little surprised by the coldness that Sivir talked about the situation with. "So what do you need, do I need to say something to Azir? smuggle you off the palace grounds? What do you need?" Sivir asked bluntly. "Um, I just want to get out of this place, they can believe whatever they want about me, just know this, I didn't kill those guards, so whatever did kill them is still out there... Just be careful." Kai'sa explained.
"Hah, I can take care of myself Purple." Sivir replied. Kai'sa was a little annoyed at how Sivir always seemed to give everyone nicknames that made them seem of little significance, but Kai'sa had been given far worse nicknames then "Purple" so she couldn't complain. "Do you know where Taliyah went?" Kai'sa asked. "Something about meeting some friends of hers, I have no idea where they would be kid," Sivir replied. Good grief your not that much older than me, I'm not a kid, Kai'sa thought as she peeked out of the window. "I think if you can get one of those wagons It should be pretty easy to sneak past the guards," Kai'sa said as she looked outside. "You don't think they would notice your big ass purple butt in the wagon?" Sivir chuckled. Kai'sa puased a moment while she thought about the fact that what Sivir said didn't exactly make sence, she basically said butt twice in four words, Kai'sa chuckled in her head, "I can go invisible you know?" Kai'sa said. "Well then what do you need me for then kid! Why don't you just walk on out of here?" Sivir replied, annoyed by what she saw as wasting her time. "The gate is still shut, plus I am not invisible in the bright sun, the light is distorted too much, the guards would see me at the gate," Kai'sa replied. "Grr fine, I'll see what I can do, stay here till I give you the signal, and sitting in the wagon may not be the best idea, the guards might be there," Sivir replied. "What's the signal?" Kai'sa asked.
Kassadin and Selha sit still on one of the many platforms that were built on the back of the Dorman, the nomads that lived on the beast had learned to leave the two alone while they crossed the great Sia. "We're making good progress, we will probably be west of the capital in two days," Kassadin said calmly as the two watched the early sun climb higher over the great desert. "Do you think it's true, someone really is saving people from the Void? Bringing them back?" Selha asked, for some reason she felt safe around him, safe enough to talk about what troubled her. "I don't know, I think we shouldn't lose hope, I am skeptical also, but if there is a chance it's true then we have to try," Kassadin said, his words stirred inside him as he knew they were all lies. The truth is he had lost all hope long ago. "Who did you lose?" Sehla asked…
(many years ago) Kassadin slowly crossed the dunes while dragging a small sand sled, his stomach grumbled as his mind thought about nothing but finally getting something good to eat when he got home. He had been gone from their village for ten days, which was not a rare occurrence for him being a dessert guide that helped strangers cross the great sia with ease. The horizon always played tricks here, he was used to the fact that he wouldn't spot his home until he was less than a half a mile from it, it was hidden well in a small oasis between the dune fields, so normally you could pass right by the town and never notice it. "What the…" Kassadin said as he saw pillars smoke rising from the direction of where he knew the town was. One of the town's best protections was how hidden it was, so he knew something was wrong if smoke was rising. The people knew how dangerous that was, they had to be in trouble. Kassadin dropped his load and began running up the dune so he could quickly see what was happening with his home.
Kassadin finally gets a clear view of his hometown as he reaches the top of the dune, he looks on in horror, a purple scar had ripped through the earth beneath the town leveling much of it, and the rest laid in burning ruins as he saw some movement that looked like people running around in the burning town, "No Nasus Please No!" Kassadin prayed as he ran towards the fire, his mind racing with the fear of him being too late to save his family. "Layla! Kaisa!" He yelled as he started entering the town, it seemed more quiet now, even though fires burned all around him, he could have sworn he saw people walking around in the town from a distance, but now that he was inside it felt empty. He walked cautiously through the town, picking up a broken tent support to use as a spear as he knew something off had happened here. "Layla, Kaisa…" Kassadin said again, though his voice trailed off as he looked in horror down the great purple rift that split the town in two, hundreds of scitoring monsters crawled in its depths, he could see them devouring the corpses of many fallen beings, both livestock and people. Despite the danger, Kassadin readys to jump into the rift to save anyone he can, "BAAAH!" The sound of a goat startled him as he turned around to see it.
A purple corruption ate at the goat's flesh as he could see into its chest and neck through the holes of its rotting flesh, yet somehow it was still alive, its eyes glowed with a purple energy, "BAAAH!" The corrupted goat yelled as it began charging at him, he leveled the spear at it impaling it as it continued to try to charge unphased by the spear Kassadin had put through its body. "GRAAH!" Kassadin yelled as he vaulted the goat over himself and let it fall into the void rift, he looked on as he saw several dozen voidborn devouring the goat in less than a second. He froze for a second, as he realized that he was clearly the only one that was alive here, or at least the only one that wasn't a monster yet. A terrible rage then filled him at that moment, a rage like that of an elder dragon, nothing but anger filled him as he watched several dozen of the Voidborne start climbing up the clift, hoping to make him their meal. He dropped his spear then unsheathed his sword, ready to cut as many of these monsters down until they would finally overtake him.
Kai'sa sits patiently as she waits for a sign of Sivir being ready for her to leave, even though she had no idea whatever the sign was. "Didn't you hear me dufuis, I'm just going outside to meet some of my peers, I don't need you guards to babysit me," Kai'sa hears Sivir say as she argue with one of the imperial guards. "I'm sorry ma'am, but the Emperor gave us clear orders, you must be kept safe, you are destined for greatness above us all," the guard replied. "The only thing I'm destined for is a real bar, not this bland palace you got here," Sivir replied. " And did you just call me ma'am?" Sivir asked with disdain. "Um, no Ma'am, I mean, yes Ma'am… uh sorry Ma'am" the guard said in a panic as she looked down at him with her hand on her blade. "Can we at least ride in the back of the wagon with you, we cannot let you leave unprotected," the guard asked as he cleared his head from his fumbling words. "Uhg fine, even though you all would just get in my way in a real fight," Sivir said as she waved the guards to hurry up and get moving as she climbed up onto the white horse that pulled the wagon. Kai'sa stares restlessly, not sure what Sivir's plan is to get past the gate. She sees Sivir drives the cart forward up to the gate, then guards start to open it, two more guards are in the back of the wagon, Kai'sa is perplexed as to this plan of hers, what does she want me to do? Take them all out? Shove them out of the wagon? It has to be that, I don't want to kill any of them. Kai'sa's mind raced as she saw the gate open and prepared to make her move.
Sivir turned her head around and looked to the window where Kai'sa was, she give a quick wink as she says something to the guards and gives some kind of hand gesture, but Kai'sa is too far away to understand the hand gestures meaning, she must be signaling me now, Kai'sa thinks to herself. A split second later Kai'sa dashes through the window and moves across the compound in a teleporting blur, reaching the wagon in no more than a second, she bursts through the wagon door feet first and kicks the two guards out of the wagon sending them flying through the other door. "WHAT THE HELL!" Sivir yells in shock as the horse bucks up in shock, sending Sivir flying unto the wagon as the horse bolts and pulls the two of them with it. "Wooah" Kai'sa said, at this point she figured this was clearly not the plan. "What the hell are you doing!" Sivir yelled. "Sorry I thought this was the plan," Kai'sa replied as the horse raced down the street pulling the wagon and them both with it uncontrollably. "I POINTED AT THE HORSE'S BACK, I WANTED TO DROP THE WAGON NOT HAVE YOU ASSAULT THEM" Sivir yelled. "Well HOW THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT, YOU EXPLAINED NOTHING" Kai'sa replied.
"How do we stop this thing?" Kai'sa asked, as the wagon got less and less structurally sound as it raced through the streets. "It's an Imperial mount, they only stop to a secret word," Sivir replied. "What's the word?" Kai'sa asked. "Um… I heard a guard say it, what was it…" Sivir said. "You forgot it didn't you?" Kai'sa asked. "I think it was ,nihaya" the moment Sivir said it the horse came to a screeching stop, the wagon whipped forward and snapped off, sending it tumbling off a ledge down. They tried desperately to brace onto anything they could as the wagon rolled down the cliff. In the panic of the moment, Kai'sa grabbed Sivir firmly, holding her by her head tightly against her chest. Sivir would protest but the terror of them being in the tumbling wagon made it hard to think, also the strength Kai'sa grabbed Sivir with was something Sivir knew she couldn't fight. Kai'sa then summoned a shield around them before teleporting them both out of the wagon and into a nearby adobe apartment just in time to save them both as the wagon was now smashed against a boulder. "WHHHAAA WHAT THE, Get, The the fuck away from me!" Sivir said, her nerves terrified as what just happened, even though Kai'sa shielded them both, and had Sivir's head was buried in her arms, Sivir could still feel the evil, no, evil is not the right word, oblivion, the oblivion of the void realm for the split second she was in it from Kai'sa teleporting them.
"I'm sorry, I'm sure you're scared, I was also the first time i saw it, but I had to save us," Kai'sa said, trying to be gentle. "I'm Not Afraid! And I ….." Sivir paused as she noticed the wagon they were in being totally flattened against a rock, "uh, thanks, I guess," Sivir said reluctantly. "You welcome, that feeling you get from passing through the Void will wear off, at least it does when you are protected like you where," Kai'sa replied, trying to put Sivir's nerves to rest a bit. "That was the Void?" Sivir asked, she had heard many stories of this Void, but never knew what horror it truly was. "Yes, or at least, it's close to the Void, I'm not sure. The Void is outside of our reality, space doesn't work the same there, can't really say there is a where in the Void," Kai'sa explained. Sivir just stood there with a perplexed look on her face, "It's best if you don't try to understand it, people have gone mad trying to," Kai'sa said again. "And, you are from that place?" Sivir asked inquisitively. "What, no of course not, nothing can survive there, let alone be born there." Kai'sa replied, perplexed as to why Sivir would think this.
"Why do they call you The Daughter of the Void then?" Sivir asked. "I don't know, people and their stories I guess," Kai'sa replied, shrugging her shoulders in a confused gesture. "So where are you from, if you told me before I wasn't paying attention," Sivir said. "It's okay, I was from a small village in the south eastern sai. I was eight the last time I saw it, unfortunately I don't remember its name, but anyway, a Void rift opened up and swallowed the whole village. I was forced to survive in the Void infested caverns beneath us all." Kai'sa explained. "So you are human?" Sivir replied. "Uhg, duh, I seriously don't get why people would think otherwise, almost all Voidborne are formless abominations, I don't think I look like one of those," Kai'sa said. "Yeah, I guess you aren't really the scary monster that I pictured, you look okay," Sivir said. "Um, Thanks, you are…um, you… you look okay yourself," Kai'sa said, fumbling her words from taking a brief moment to examine Sivir's appearance, her being drop dead gorgeous as always even after taking a tumble in the wagon.
"Wha, AAAAHHH INTRUDERS!" A elderly woman screwed as she saw after she opened the door to her apartment, "Let's scram!" Kai'sa said, her voice sounding disturbing from her helmet closing as she jumped out the window and landed in the alleyway. Sivir also jumped, using her legendary weapon she conjured a shield to break her fall, "neat trick" Kai'sa said as the two continued to run down the alleyways until the of the screaming lady couldn't be heard anymore. "So should we part ways here?" Kai'sa asked. "I don't know, definitely a lot more exciting being back on the streets compared with being locked in a compound" Sivir chuckled. "Oh um, well I suppose, you could stay with me, but you should, you should probably go, there's another Voidborn still out there, and I, I need to find Tali…MMMMM!" Kai'sa's stuttering was interrupted by Sivir locking lips with her, Whhaaat, why the hell is she doing this to me, Kai'sa thought in shock, she is really beautiful, but, wait,Taliyah I, no no no I don't want this! SLAP! Kai'sa broke the kiss and slapped Sivir hard making her fumble back a bit. "Ahaha, Okay" Sivir chuckled as she recovered from the slap.
"What's so funny!?" Kai'sa asked, angrily. "You fumble around with your speech every time you look at me, your face is in a permanent state of blushing also, and when I kiss you it takes you like five seconds for you to then pretend you didn't want it, Okay, sure, hehe" Sivir laughed again, enjoying the power she seemed to have over Kai'sa. "I, uh, first off I'm not the best with speaking, most of my life I've spent away from people so I'm not good at talking to any people, secondly, even if I was attracted to you that still gives you no right to kiss me like that! We barely know each other," Kai'sa explained fiercely. "Who says you have to know someone to have a little fun hehe, you're too uptight," Sivir replied. "Wha, uhg you're ridiculous, I don't care to "have fun" as you say with someone I just met Thanks BUT NO THANKS!" Kai'sa replied. "Hmmp, whatever you say," Sivir replied. "I say you leave, go, go tell Azir about the other Void assassin in the city, I'm going to find Taliyah," Kai'sa Said emphatically. "And what if I don't want to go?" Sivir asked. Kai'sa replied by teleporting out of Sivir's sight immediately, leaving her in the alleyway alone. "Grr, Fine, no one is any fun in this damn city," Sivir said to herself.
Kassadin stands over a pile of Voidborn corpses, he breathes heavy, ready for more monsters to come at him, he still had strength to take more of them down, and he was planning on fighting till he died so he didn't care how many more there were. Unfortunately none remained, all that he was left with was the ruin of his home, his life, his family, and the pile of dead monsters that took it from him….
"From that moment on, I swore to gather every weapon I could weld, and take down as much of the Void I can before I die, The Void will know the fury a father can harbor for those who take his family." Kassadin said as he finished telling Sehla his story. "That's a very sad story, I'm sorry" Sehla replied. "What's your sad story?" Kassadin asked. "I told you all I care to say," Sehla replied shortly. "You didn't say much," Kassadin replied. "It was enough to get you to help me," Sehla said, still not sure as to why he offered to help her so quickly. Kassadin didn't reply, instead he let her not talk to him if that's what she wanted. "My, My father was the leader of our village…he was always wanting to keep us safe from dangers, he took us far south to be safe from Noxian raiders, he tried people non-stop to be ready to defend our new village… one day the demon from the Void called Kai'sa kidnapped him, took him to the Void and showed my father it's power, It said that if we didn't move we would all be devoured by the Void. My father then escaped and made it back home, he immediately began arming everyone in our village, preparing them to fight the Void and protect our home.
In two days Kai'sa returned, it didn't like my father training everyone to fight the Void, so… so it murdered him in front of everyone, I didn't see it, but I did see it blowing up everything that could keep us safe, my neighbors picked me up, they told me we had to all run, that my father was killed. I, I didn't even get to grieve." Sehla finished, trying to hold back tears. Kassadin sits still, not expressing any emotion at her story. "Sorry, don't know why I told you all that," Sehla said. "You sure this was her? I've heard different things about her, some bad, some good," Kassadin finally asked. "Not her, It! Yes I am sure, I've seen the results first hand, why do you think every place that sees It is attacked by the Void soon after." Sehla replied vehemently. "Hmm, maybe so, hopefully this profit can help us" Kassadin said, knowing in his heart that the profit could not help either of them, but that didn't matter, he had different plans. "Even if he can't, I'm sure news of him has spread, and I'm sure Kai'sa will be there to stop us, then I will have my vengeance…"
Kassadin sat quietly for a bit and thought about how similar he was to the girl, as she lost herself day by day to rage and vengeance for love ones lost, but I can't let her reach Kai'sa, whatever she has become, I must be the one that confronts it… the one that confronts her."
Kai'sa dashes from rooftop to rooftop as she makes her way to the lower city, she knew Taliyah was probably by the caravan docks where folks from her tribe said they would meet her. The Night was growing darker as she still had about 4 miles to travel, the city was truly enormous. "Damn it" Kai'sa said to herself as she shrugged off the taste of Sivir's lip glass that still lingered, Taliyah was to be my first not you… Kai'sa thought to herself as she approached the edge of the city. ZRROOM! Kai'sa landed hard on the sandy ground, not caring if people saw her now, "TALIYAH! TALIYAH…." Kai'sa started yelling hoping she could hear her. She continued yelling and walking around for a few minutes until her voice got really tired, she can't remember the last time she raised her voice like that. *Rumbling approaches fast* Kai'sa turns to see what was approaching from behind her, "Kai'sa you're okay!" Taliyah said as she jumped off a small earth wave she used to run to Kai'sa's yelling. "Tali!" The two gave each other a big hug, both glad each other was safe, "You go all mushy on me Kai? Never took you asna hugger," Taliyah teased. "Ahaha, I'm just glad you're safe," Kai'sa replied. "You too," Taliyah said. "I'm sorry, I couldn't clear my name, I still wanted, I should probably not get you involved, but I really wanted to know you are safe," Kai'sa explained.
"When you gonna get it silly, I can handle myself, Also who cares what this stupid empire thinks of you, thats what friends and family are for, and you are my friend," Taliyah replied. "Thank you, you are infinitely kind, and sorry for being hard on you at times," Kai'sa replied. "Come come I want you to meet my friends, we were just getting something to eat," Taliyah said as she dragged Kai'sa along by her hand. The two walked up the street a bit until they made it to a outdoor grill dinner, "Hey everyone, you remember Kai'sa, she helped us crosss the Sai on the way to Xolan. Everyone sat still for a moment, shocked she was treating Kai'sa like a close friend now. "Hi," Kai'sa nervously waved. "I Don't remember her," the yordle cook grumbled as he set down some more food on the table. "Why would, uhg nevermind, So Kaisa, how ya been?" A tall teenage woman with brown shaggy long hair and a red hoodie chirped up in her gravelly voice. "Um, good I suppose," Kai'sa replied. "This is Kadira," Taliyah said. "And this is Samir," Taliyah said again. "Didn't she threaten to kill me last time I saw her?" Samir, the young boy with a ponytail replied. "Just don't risked people getting killed again and we'll get along fine," Kai'sa replied.
"Hehehe, I don't think that's Samir's style," Another, younger short girl with brown braided hair said. "This is…" "Zaifa, pleasure to meet again," Zaifa chirped up interrupting Taliyah who was about to introduce her. "And this is Tai, we met him crossing the Sai to meet up with you," Zaifa said as she pointed to a young monk sitting quietly at their table. "Oh hello Tai, sorry I didn't notice you," Taliyah apologized. "It's okay… It's a pleasure to meet you, Void hunter, I have read much about your deeds," Tai said as he stood up and gave a gentle bow. "There are, books about me…" Kai'sa said confused. "There are books on everyone if you know where to look," Tai replied. "Tai is a student under this powerful Time Wizard!" Kadira said. "Time Wizard?" Kai'sa replied, still very confused about everyone having books on them. "Haha master Zilean doesn't like being called that, but I suppose it does fit the description," Tai replied. "What does this Zilean want? And why did he send you away?" Taliyah asked. "Oh Zilean didn't send me away, in fact he wanted me to stay and help the people of Icathia, but my brother hasn't returned from his mission, so I must find him and bring him home," Tai said.
"I hope your brother is okay," Samir said. "Where did You say you are from?" Kai'sa asked, her tune growing untrusting. "Icathia, the capital city, have you been there?" Tai asked. "As a matter of fact I have," Kai'sa lunged forward and grabbed Tai by his collar, lifting him up out of his chair into the air, "What KINDA GAME YOU PLAYING!" Kai'sa asked again. "Kai'sa…" Taliyah started to object, "SHH, I know what I'm doing," Kai'sa replied. "Wait, I forgot, I know you know you must be very confused, just let me explain," Tai said. "Where are you really from?" Kai'sa asked threateningly. "Icathia, just not your version of it," Tai replied. "Whhaaat," Kai'sa said. "Master Zilean created a Time bubble around part of the city before the Void destroyed it, so my version of Icathia is as it was hundreds of years ago before it fell, while yours is the version of it after the Void destroyed it," Tai explained. "Sigh," Kai'sa said as she dropped him down back into his chair. "Sorry about the drama everyone." Kai'sa apologized as she began helping herself to some bread loaves.
To be continued…
