Author's Notes:

1. I do not own Xiaolin Showdown but I do love both of the series. I do own Gloria/Gizmo who is Jack's daughter in fanfiction; she'll be a character throughout the story and I hope you will all like her

2. This fanfiction is an updated version of a story that I had started writing in 2014 and stopped working on in 2016 due to a lack of time and inspiration. Unfortunately I lost the original files and thus have no other choice but to post an entirely new version of the story that was copied and pasted from the original and then edited. Hopefully this version will be grammatically correct and have less errors overall.

3. There's a lot of talking in this chapter so if you don't like that sort of thing you might want to skip this chapter, otherwise I think it's a pretty good chapter… though of course I wrote it so it would be odd if I didn't think it was good.

4. There will be yaoi somewhere in this fanfiction, therefore if you don't like yaoi you might not want to read this fanfiction.

Anyway enough with my yapping, let's move on to the story Shall we; I hope you enjoy.

Jack had to admit that it was odd following Chase around his lair, Jack had only ever been in a few places in his youth and actually being able to see more of the lair without the feeling dragged away by one of Chase's cats was unusual. Still Jack didn't take time to enjoy the sights, despite wanting to, he knew that he had to focus on following Chase or he could very well get lost in this giant place.

Another reason that focusing on where Chase was going was a good thing was because it meant he was too preoccupied with that to focus on how much his crack ribs hurt still, Jack was wishing he'd stayed at the monks temple just a bit logner so that they could have been healed too.

"If I see Shadow I swear I'm going to make her pay for cracking my ribs." Jack thought to himself as he continued to carry his little Gizmo and follow Chase.

"Speaking of which I wonder where she is, I haven't seen her since I arrived." Jack continued to think to himself quietly.

"Something on your mind Jack?" Chase asked, knocking Jack out of his own little world and back into reality.

"Huh, oh no I'm fine… sorry I didn't mean to lose focus." Jack apologized, having not even noticed that he had slipped from reality.

"Don't worry about it Jack; I find that my mind wanders when I'm walking down these halls as well, however, I'm sure that you'll be glad to know that we're finally here." Chase said in a slightly amused way as he stopped in front of a beautifully decorated door.

"Now then, let's go in shall we?" Chase asked opening the door for Jack and Gesturing for him to go in.

"Yes let's" Jack said with a polite nod before going inside the room as Chase was signaling for him to do.

Immediately upon entering Jack could tell why Chase had picked this room to talk in, it was a very nice lounge like room with soft beautiful music playing that Jack couldn't place. The furniture was old fashioned but Jack found that this added to the room rather than taking away from it, there was also what looked like a fireplace in the corner of the room and on the beautiful wooden table where two empty wine glasses Jack was looking forward to using.

The other decorations throughout the room, whether off to the side or hanging on the wall, also suited the room well and added character to the room well.

"I take it from your expression that you're impressed Jack." Chase said, suddenly snapping Jack, once again, back into reality.

"This room is beautiful, I can see why you chose it Chase." Jack said politely they both entered the room.

"Thank you Jack, please… sit won't you?" Chase said gesturing toward one of the very comfortable looking chairs.

Before doing just that Jack set Gizmo down, once his little one had settled on the sofa near the chair he planned on sitting in he slowly maneuvered himself into the chair knowing full well that Chase would notice how slowly he was moving.

"Is something wrong Jack, you seem to be moving a bit carefully." Chase said indeed, noting Jack's slow movements.

"Your apprentice cracked at least one of my ribs, I had my leg healed while at the Monk's temple but I left before they could get to my ribs" Jack explained to Chase once he'd gotten comfortable enough.

"Ah yes I remember her showing me that, I could and would be more than happy to give you something for that if you like." Chase offered.

"That's very generous of you Chase, but I'm fine for the moment; for now we should focus on whatever it is you wanted to talk about." Jack said in a polite but businesslike manner.

"How very professional of you Jack, yes you're right but first…would you like some wine or perhaps something else to drink?" Chase offered curiously.

"I could even find something for your daughter to drink if you like." Chase added as though sensing that Jack was about to refuse.

"Well I suppose some wine would be nice, what would you like Gizmo?" Jack said first to Chase and then to his daughter.

"Some tea or if you have it, juice please." Gizmo said in a polite but very quiet way.

Even though Jack had known Chase since his preteen years and his childhood fascination and crush has matured and mellowed he couldn't help but be impressed as the empty wine glasses sitting on the table filled and a glass of juice also appeared.

"Thank you." Gizmo and Jack both said at once which made Gizmo chuckle.'

"You're both welcome, now then though it's onto business." Chase said smirking at first before becoming more serious.

"What would you like to discuss, Chase?" Jack asked curiously before sipping his wine, which was very delicious he had to admit.

"Well to be honest I'd like to discuss with you Jack, it's been seven years since I saw you last and so much has changed" Chase said not hiding the fact that he was impressed.

"Well after being rejected by everyone on the Heylin side I realized I had to work on my goals and I grew up." Jack said in a frank but still polite way, though still hiding a chuckle at the act that Chase nearly spit out his wine because he was surprised by Jack's bluntness.

"Don't get me wrong I can understand why no one wanted to help me, especially you… I've had a lot of time to think about it." Jack added allowing Chase time to recover.

"Am I to assume that you're not bitter about the fact that you were rejected Jack, you'd have every right to be after that and everything else we did to you." Chase said once able to speak again.

"If you're asking if I forgive you then I suppose the answer is yes, then again the better answer would be that I understand why you did what you did; I even understand you using me and Ashley to your advantage to get to Omi" Jack said sipping from his wine glass again.

"Let's not discuss the Omi incident; that was not one of my finer moments." Chase said, wincing slightly of the memory of the time he'd tried to get the water monk on the Heylin side.

"As for using you and Ashley I can't say I'm completely sorry Jack, in your youth you were much easier to manipulate as you idolized me; I can look at you now and say with confidence that it would be difficult to manipulate you as you are older and likely no longer idolize me." Chase added with the slightest shrug of his shoulders.

"It's true I have grown up Chase but my idolization of you is still there, though now it's more like a mature respect; but yes I think I'd be much harder to manipulate now." Jack said calmly.

"Well thank you Jack, it's good to hear that I still hold a place in your admiration…however I think that if you'll let me that I'll make up for past events and earn your loyalty and admiration." Chase said in an oddly vague way.

"What do you mean Chase, how do you intend to do that?" Jack asked, having a hard time hiding the fact that he was confused.

"I have a proposition for you Jack, though when I tell you what it is I'm not sure how you'll react to it." Chase said, actually almost hesitating for a minute.

"Well you won't know until you tell me what your proposition is Chase." Jack said calmly

"Very well then, my proposition is simple Jack, I would like you to become my apprentice." Chase said as quickly and bluntly as he could.

"Chase, you've offered me this position before and every time you did it you were trying to manipulate me, now granted I said I understand why you did it there are multiple reasons…" Jack started to say before getting interrupted.

"I had a feeling you'd say something like this but hear me out for a second Jack, I will admit the greatest mistake I've ever made if you'll but listen to me and hear what I have to say." Chase said in a determined way.

"Oh alright Chase, you have my attention." Jack said doing a good job at pretending that he was only mildly interested which was far from the case.

"You may not think so but you didn't vanish completely from the Heylin view Jack, I read an article about the successful company you built as well as other successes you've had… I was impressed at the time that you finally were proving that you were the genius you claimed to be." Chase started off, waiting to see if Jack would say anything which he didn't.

"Even after that article however I admit that I still wasn't impressed enough to give you another chance, I see now that I made a mistake." Chase continued speaking, looking not annoyed at Jack but still looking annoyed nonetheless.

"Oh really, would this have anything to do with the fact that I apparently have elemental abilities." Jack asked curiously with a slightly amused smile.

"Well yes, had I given you the chance when I saw the article I might have seen one of the things I so clearly missed in your youth…something that frankly makes a lot of sense upon looking back." Chase said again, sounding annoyed.

"You mean the fact that I can control metal, actually yes I suppose that does make sense when I think about it." Jack said, looking over at one of his hands for a moment.

"Exactly Jack, had I taken the time and given you a second… No, in fact if I had actually tried to train you in your youth…" Chase started to say when Jack interrupted.

"Chase you and I both can acknowledge that it wouldn't have worked in my preteen years… there was too much difference back then." Jack said in a surprisingly adult way.

"As for not giving me a chance when you read the article I'm actually glad you didn't, if you had then I might not have met my wife and I might never have had Gizmo." Jack added as a memory of his wife filled his head.

"You know I was wondering about that Jack, don't ask me how but I can tell that in the last few years you've been through a lot… What happened to you and your family Jack?" Chase asked curiosity knowing that he might not get answers…or at least not yet.

"It's a long story for another time perhaps, all I'll tell you for now is my wife was murdered in my place and until today I haven't seen my daughter for two years…. and I am going to make the person who did it pay." Jack said knowing that Chase was going to be the last person to scold him for wanting revenge.

"That's perfectly understandable Jack, and I can help you master your abilities and help you take your revenge if you'll agree to be my apprentice." Chase said, taking a sip of his wine.

"Chase you have an apprentice, besides despite my understanding and forgiveness of past events there's no telling if I would be able to trust you." Jack said calmly, hoping not to offend the dragon overlord in the process.

To Jack's surprise Chase laughed at this, he had heard the overlord laugh before but this was a more real laugh and Jack secretly had to admit to himself that it was a sound he wouldn't mind hearing more of.

"Yes I suppose you do make a good point Jack, I'm afraid trust would be something I'd have to earn from you as well as you form. Also despite how wrong I know that this might sound; with the loss of your wife there is something more I could offer you other than a good teacher and many different lessons." Chase said smirking as he prepared to do something he'd been dying to try since he'd first seen Jack's new appearance with Shadow.

"Oh really, and what would…." Jack started to ask in a curious way before being interrupted by something he definitely didn't expect; which was Chase kissing him on the lips.

Of course at first Jack was sure the long suppressed preteen version of himself had come out and he was imagining this, quickly however as he found himself letting out a soft moan and the kiss deepened he realized this was really happening. Eventually, much to Jack's dismay, Chase pulled away and he couldn't help but blushed ever so slightly as he saw the look Chase was giving him.

"I want you to think about this Jack, and don't think I won't be thinking about it too… still I'll expect you to have an answer when you return." Chase said actually panting a little though not because he was out of breath.

"Wait, what do you mean Chase, why can't I… "Jack started to ask with a stutter before being pushed through a portal that Chase had opened with the Golden Tiger Claws, without Jack having noticed, along with Gizmo who followed before he had the chance to say anything about what Chase had just done.
