1. I do not own Xiaolin Showdown but I do love both of the series. I do own Gloria/Gizmo who is Jack's daughter in fanfiction; she'll be a character throughout the story and I hope you will all like her
2. This fanfiction is an updated version of a story that I had started writing in 2014 and stopped working on in 2016 due to a lack of time and inspiration. Unfortunately I lost the original files and thus have no other choice but to post an entirely new version of the story that was copied and pasted from the original and then edited. Hopefully this version will be grammatically correct and have less errors overall.
3. There will be yaoi somewhere in this fanfiction, therefore if you don't like yaoi you might not want to read this fanfiction.
Anyway enough with my yapping, let's move on to the story Shall we; I hope you enjoy.
Jack didn't notice where he and Gizmo had ended up, or at least not at first; he was far too distracted by what had just happened. Jack's heart beat rapidly in his chest as he tried to accept what had happened, not only had Chase asked him to be his apprentice but he had also kissed him and had seemed to enjoy it as much as Jack had.
"God that look he gave me, and the fact that he told me to think about it… what did he think that I forgot the fact that he kissed me?" Jack asked out loud to no one I particularly as he tried to get over his shock.
"Daddy, why are you talking to yourself?" Gizmo suddenly asked, snapping Jack back into reality.
"Sorry baby, daddy was just thinking out loud." Jack said, picking his daughter up and allowing her to cuddle against him.
"It's okay daddy I do that too, still don't you think we should go inside so you can show Stacey that you're okay." Gizmo said with a giggle.
"Stacey? Honey Stacey is back at the company and we…"Jack started to say before Gizmo interrupted.
"Daddy we're right in front of your company, see look." Gizmo said pointing which caused Jack to look in the direction she was pointing.
"Well I'll be damned, we are in front of the company." Jack said looking stunned as sure enough, he saw his company in front of him.
"Bad Daddy, you swore." Gizmo scolded with the cutest little stern look on her face.
"Sorry baby, Daddy will give you a quarter for your swear jar later; for now let's go in" Jack said with a sweet smile before carrying his daughter into the building.
Immediately upon entering the lobby of his company the people at the front desk stopped what they were doing and stared at him. In the two years that he had been away he'd been allowed to keep his company running through emails and phone calls but he hadn't actually seen anyone in person in that time.
"Oh Mr. Spicer sir it's so good to see you sir, we've been so worried about you." His vice president Stacey said, popping out of nowhere and rushing over to him.
Stacey was a sweet woman who was just a bit older than Jack was, before Jack had been taken away he had just hired the sweet brunet and had been very pleased to see that she was able to handle her job.
"You have no idea how happy I am to see you Stacey, god it's good to see people." Jack said with a very relieved sigh.
"Where have you been sir?! Did those people who gave us messages from you hurt you or little Gizmo?!" Stacey asked, looking concerned.
"Me yes, but Gizmo no; as far as I can tell she's fine." Jack said, trying to reassure Stacey though not actually knowing if Gizmo had been harmed while in the care of his Monster of a father in law's care.
"The Bad Man that took you away from me pretty much ignored me, he had other people look after me and only talked to me when he wanted to." Gizmo said as though reading Jack's mind.
"Well at least he didn't hurt you, right baby?" Jack said wanting to confirm this with Gizmo.
"No he didn't hurt me daddy, like I said he pretty much ignored me." Gizmo said with a sudden yawn.
"Well that's at least one piece of good news, don't worry sir we'll get the monster for the two years he took away from you and Gizmo. In the meantime I think poor little Gizmo is tired." Stacey said looking determined at first and then sweetly concerned.
"Yeah she probably is, I'll take her to my office so she can take a nap." Jack said as Gizmo yawned more.
"What about you sir, you should relax too." Stacey said again with a sweetly concerned look on her face.
"I'll be okay Stacey but thank you for worrying, I'll be down after I take Gizmo to the lounge in my office; I have a lot to catch up on." Jack said appreciating the concern but knowing that there was a lot he had to do now that he was back.
"Don't worry Stacey, I really will be okay; like I said I'll be back down in a bit." Jack added before Stacey had the chance to protest.
"Very well sir, I'll take care of things until you return." Stacey said with a kind smile.
"Thank you Stacey, I know you've been doing a wonderful job running things while I've been away and I don't expect that to change while I'm gone for a few minutes." Jack said to Stacey with a kind smile.
Stacey blushed at this and was unable to say anything, Jack chuckled at this and used Stacey's stunned silence as an opportunity to head to the elevator. Normally Gizmo would have begged to push the button that opened the elevator but now Jack's little angel was so tired that she was resting her head on his shoulder and her tiny arms wrapped around his neck.
Thinking that she was fast asleep Jack was careful as he entered the elevator, quietly so as to not wake her he pressed the button that would take him to his office only to realize that he'd forgotten to ask Stacey for the key he needed to actually get up to the office.
"Welcome Mr. Spicer and little Miss Spicer , it's good to have you back and your daughter back sir… We'll be arriving at your office soon." An automated voice that Jack didn't recognize suddenly said before the elevator started moving.
"Oh Stacey you clever woman, putting in a scan and an AI to recognize Gizmo and I when we enter the elevator and want to go to my office…I'll have to remember to thank her and give her a raise." Jack said with a smirk as the elevator continued to move upward slowly.
Finally the elevator arrived at the top floor and the elevator doors opened. Jack stepped out with Gizmo, it felt a little odd seeing the door to his office down the hallway but nonetheless Jack made his way toward it.
As Jack arrived at his office door he couldn't but smile as another scan activated, there was no automated voice this time but nonetheless the doors to his office swung open once the door system recognized both him and Gizmo.
"Wow, does this feel odd." Jack said to himself as he entered his empty but clean office.
"Stacey really has been taking good care of everything, this place is spotless." Jack said as he turned the lights on low enough to see but not enough that it would wake Gizmo up.
"Alright my little angel let's get you a blanket and then lay you down on the sofa so you can nap." Jack whispered going over to the cabinet where he had last put the blanket Gizmo used for taking naps in his office.
Jack couldn't help but smile when he found it exactly where he left it, it was a strangely nice feeling to know Stacey had taken care of his office and had kept everything in place.
"Aright my little angel time for your nap, daddy will leave the TV on for you so you can watch when you wake up and use it to check up on me while I'm downstairs." Jack said sweetly as he gently put his daughter on the couch and covered her with the blanket.
"Daddy cuddle with me please…I don't want you to go right now, please." Gizmo suddenly whispered sweetly with a sleepy look in her little blue eyes.
"Please Daddy, just for a little bit…I've missed you." Gizmo added as though reading Jack's mind and knowing that he was going to say he really should work.
"Oh alright sweetie, just give daddy a second to call Stacey and tell her that there's been a change of plans.
"Okay Daddy, thank you." Gizmo said looking happy despite being very sleepy.
"You're welcome baby." Jack said with a chuckle before going over to his office phone and dialing Stacey's cell phone.
"Hello Mr. Spicer, is everything alright sir." Stacey asked, answering her phone right away as she always did when he called her.
"Everything is fine Stacey, look there's been a change of plans and I was wondering…" Jack started to say before getting politely interrupted.
"Don't worry about a thing sir I'll take care of everything for you, you just enjoy your nap with Gizmo and if I need anything I'll call you sir." Stacey said, sounding very professionally but also as kind as she always did.
"Thanks Stacey I appreciate it, I'll call you after Gizmo wakes up." Jack said, unable to help but chuckle at Stacey.
"Well okay sir but don't feel like you have to, you and Gizmo deserve a day off after all you've both probably been through and no offense sir but I intended on making you take it if I'd had to." Stacey said in a determined and surprisingly stern way.
Jack laughed at this, this was one of many reasons he liked Stacey and though he knew she respected him and might very well do almost anything for him he also knew that she was serious.
"Oh Stacey, it's good to be back here in the company with you; you remind me of my…"Jack started to say before suddenly he realized what he had about to say and stopped.
"Sir I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to have you bring up…" Stacey started to say apologetically because she had been informed of the incident with his wife had happened, but getting interrupted by Jack before she could see any more.
"No it's okay, I have to accept that she's gone... Nothing can change that, but she would want me to sit around and mope; if she were here she'd tell me to remember her but to move on." Jack said whispering now because he didn't want Gizmo to hear.
"That's very positive of you to think sir, anyway I better let you get to your nap with Gizmo." Stacey said in a very sweet way.
"Right, I'll call you in a little while Stacey." Jack said before hanging up the phone and heading back over to the sofa.
"Daddy I miss Mommy." Gizmo said suddenly as Jack laid down on the sofa and got under the blanket with her, having apparently heard Jack mention her despite his best efforts.
"I know you do sweetie but she's in a better place now, she would want you to try to remember her and try not to be sad." Jack said sweetly as he pulled his little girl closer.
"Okay I'll try Daddy but it's hard, I'm just glad I'm with you again." Gizmo said with a cute little look in her sleepy blue eyes.
"I know it's hard sweetie but that's right I am with you, and I'll always be with you no matter what." Jack said sweetly as watched his cute little girl fight sleep.
"Will that kinda scary guy who lives in that cool place be with us too daddy?" gizmo asked suddenly.
"You mean Chase sweetheart?" Jack asked, looking at his daughter in a shocked way.
"Yeah him, he said he wanted you to be his 'prentice; and he kissed you on the lips like Mommy used to… doesn't that mean it was special?" Gizmo asked innocently, reminding Jack, as she had done before in the past, that his smart little daughter was still only an innocent little girl.
"I'm not really sure sweetheart but it definitely gives Daddy something to think of, anyway my little angel I think we've done enough talking… time to go to take your nap." Jack said in a sweet but just a little bit sterner way.
"Aw okay Daddy, you'll stay with me right." Gizmo asked with a sweet little pout.
"Yes of course I will sweetie, I promise that I won't go anywhere until you wake up." Jack said sweetly knowing that this would satisfy his daughter.
"Okay, I love you Daddy." Gizmo said sweetie with one last sleepy yawn as she cuddled against him.
"I love you too, my little angel, have a good nap." Jack said, kissing his daughter on her forehead right before she finally closed her sleepy eyes.
It was funny but as soon as she fell asleep the first thing that came to Jack's mind was what she had said about Chase and the kiss, Jack wasn't sure what to think about what had happened but decided that cuddling with his little girl was more important at the moment and that he'd have plenty of time to think about the feeling of Chase's lips on his later.
