Author's Notes:
1. I do not own Xiaolin Showdown but I do love both of the series. I do own Gloria/Gizmo who is Jack's daughter in fanfiction; she'll be a character throughout the story and I hope you will all like her
2. This fanfiction is an updated version of a story that I had started writing in 2014 and stopped working on in 2016 due to a lack of time and inspiration. Unfortunately I lost the original files and thus have no other choice but to post an entirely new version of the story that was copied and pasted from the original and then edited. Hopefully this version will be grammatically correct and have less errors overall.
3. Because in the original fanfiction this chapter and chapter fourteen were just filler chapters I decided to combine the two, hopefully that doesn't make this chapter too long to read, but if it does I apologize in advance.
4. There will be yaoi in this fanfiction. Therefore, if you don't like yaoi you might not want to read this story.
The next morning Jack woke to the feeling of something pressing against his chest and couldn't help but groan as well as open his eyes a tiny bit.
"Hello Mister Spicer, Master Young told me to come and wake you up." The young panther from before said upon seeing Jack's eyes flicker open slightly.
"Well congratulations you woke me up, now could you please take your paws off of my chest... You're heavy." Jack said with a slight grunt.
"Oh right... sorry about that" The panther said looking embarrassed as he took his paws off of Jack.
"It's fine, you don't need to be embarrassed; anyway, why did Chase send you to wake me up?" Jack said, rubbing his eyes a bit and also stretching as he sat up.
"Oh yes right, Master Young told me to wake you so you could get ready for your first day of training." The panther said as he sat by Jack's beside.
"If I were any younger and if I didn't have any experience with Chase I'd be surprised that he's having me start training so early, as it stands however I'm not the least bit surprised but..." Jack started to say with an amused chuckle as but trailed off as he got up from bed and headed over to his new dresser.
"But what Mister Spicer?" the Panther asked, looking down politely as Jack got dressed.
"Well I don't mind starting training but does Chase plan on having Gizmo start her training, I mean she is only four and..." Jack started to say in a bit of a worried way when he was interrupted.
"Ah Master Young thought you might be worried about such a thing and told me to tell you not to worry, your daughter wont receive the training that you will be receiving; however, she will be getting a few beginner lessons on how to control her abilities." the panther said in a reassuring way.
"Oh, well that doesn't sound that bad." Jack said in a relieved way as he finished getting dressed.
"No Sir it won't be, in fact if it'll make you feel even better Master Young plans on letting your daughter sleep in and her lessons will begin when she's ready." The panther said kindly.
"Lucky girl, if only I was that lucky." Jack chuckled as he stretched one last time.
"Oh well, I guess there's no point complaining. Come on then, let's get going wherever it is I'm supposed to go. Jack added.
"This way Mister Spicer, I'll take you to where Master Young is." The panther said politely before signaling for Jack to follow him out of his room.
"Actually before we go there's one thing I want to do first." Jack said thinking of something right as he closed the door to his room.
"Oh um alright but..." The panther started to say in a polite but slightly hesitant way before Jack interrupted.
"Don't worry it'll only take a moment, I just want to give Gizmo a kiss and try to tell her in her sleep when I'm going so she doesn't worry." Jack said.
"That's very sweet of you, do you think she'll hear what you say to her if she's sleeping?" The Panther asked curiously with a smile.
"Good question but to be honest I don't know if she'll hear me, she can be a deep sleeper sometimes and I don't want to have to wake her up at whatever hour it is just so she can hear me...so I'll take my chances and just whisper in her ear." Jack said with a slight shrug.
"If it makes you feel any better I can come back here after I take you to where Master Chase is and then I'll wait for her to wake up and give her your message." The panther offered kindly.
"Thanks I would appreciate that, for now though I'm going to sneak in and give her a quick kiss." Jack said, patting the panther on the head in a grateful way.
If the panther could have blushed Jack was sure that he would have as he entered Gizmo's room, he wanted to chuckle but he had to hold it in just in case Gizmo wasn't sleeping as deeply as she did sometimes. Carefully he made his way over to Gizmo's bed and was very happy to see that she seemed very deeply asleep. He didn't know if she'd hear what he was going to say but was happy to know that he didn't have to worry.
"Hey baby, Daddy has to start his training... I probably won't get to see you much this morning; but hopefully we'll get to see each other some time today." Jack said, giving his daughter a kiss.
With that said and done Jack sighed, he didn't really want to leave his daughter to head to training with the young panther but knew he had to; he knew that being Chase's apprentice was going to be an interesting experience and he also knew that he'd need this training in order to be able to get through the experience.
"Alright I'm ready, let's head to training."Jack said to the panther once he'd left his daughter's room.
"Very well then, follow me Mister Spicer." the panther said before starting to walk off from the room.
"Oh and don't worry, I'll remember to come back and wait for your daughter to wake up." The panther added as he led the way.
"Thank you, I appreciate it." Jack said with a smile though also trying to hide the fact that he was suddenly nervous about having to start his training with Chase.
"Mister Spicer, are you alright, I can sense that you are worried about something." The panther said in a knowing way.
"To be honest I am a bit nervous, I'm going to be training with Chase Young to become a proper apprentice for him...I'm a bit intimidated I guess." Jack admitted with a sigh as he followed the panther.
"There's no need to worry Mister Spicer, I can assure you that your training will start off easily enough and even when it gets harder I'm sure that you will do fine... even if Master Young does stop taking it easy on you after a while." The panther said in a reassuring way.
"Thanks, you're a good panther... Chase is lucky to have you in my opinion ." Jack said, patting the panther on the head again.
"Oh well um, thank you Mister Spicer." The panther said stop for a minute because he was very embarrassed.
"Anyway we should get going, Master Young will come and get you himself if we don't hurry and that would not be good...at least not for me." The panther added, recovering quickly but looking a bit worried.
"Well I don't want to get you in trouble, lead the way... I'm right behind you." Jack said singling for the young panther to start moving again because he didn't want him to get him in trouble.
The panther gave a cat-like grin to this and then once again started to lead the way, Jack followed without saying anything more and was pleased to discover that he was no longer as worried about starting his training as he had been.
…
A short trip later:
"Ah there you two are, I was wondering if you'd show up soon... I was about to come get you myself." Chase said, looking pleased to see that Jack and the Panther had arrived.
"Sorry about that, I held us up. I wanted to make sure that Gizmo wouldn't worry about me being gone and your feline friend here offered to assist." Jack said before the panther could take the blame.
"Ah I see, well that is awfully kind of him. I'll be sure to reward you later." Chase said first to Jack and then panting the young panther on the head.
"Now then Jack, if you'll follow me we'll pick which training we're going to start out with this morning." Chase added as the panther next to him looked down in pleased embarrassment.
"Oh so you haven't decided what I'm going to be doing yet, I'm surprised to hear that you haven't planned ahead for once." Jack said teasingly hoping that Chase wouldn't mind.
"Yes well even I can be disorganized sometimes, though I actually do have quite a few different training ideas for you to do today. I just haven't decided which to start with." Chase said, chuckling at Jack's teasing.
"Oh I see, well in that case lead the way; the sooner we pick the first training the sooner we can start the other training you have planned for me today." Jack said feeling glad that Chase seemed to be in a good mood.
"You sound excited, Spicer, let's see if you're still as eager when I'm through with you today." Chase said with a mischievous smile.
"Well knowing you I'm sure I'll be exhausted by the end of the day, still I think there will be at least one thing I'll be eager to do." Jack said, throwing a hint of seduction in his voice knowing full well that it would catch Chase's attention which was what he wanted.
"I'll keep that in mind Spicer, it's almost a shame that I'll have to wait until later." Chase said, smirking at Jack's purposeful seduction attempt.
"Well we could always train later, then you wouldn't have to wait." Jack said, pressing up against Chase and boldly looking into the dragon lord's eyes seductively as well as carefully pressing his body against Chase's.
"Very tempting Jack Spicer, very tempting indeed; but as much as it pains me I'm afraid we'll both just have to wait until later. Training comes first I'm afraid." Chase whispered seductively in Jack's ear and softly nipped lightly at the red head's neck.
"Damn, well you can't blame me for trying." Jack said, trying not to groan in disappointment as Chase pulled away from his neck.
"No I cannot, still we do need to start your first training of the day. Chase said not hiding the fact that he was disappointed like Jack was doing.
"Oh alright, so how are you going to pick what I'm doing first?" Jack asked with a sigh.
"Ah but I am not picking, you are." Chase said with another mischievous smile.
"Wait what, how am I supposed to pick, I don't even know what you have planned." Jack said with a confused look on his face.
"As I recall you always liked games in the past; so I thought to myself, why not make a game out of it" Chase said with a chuckle at the confusion on Jack's face.
"Well yeah I guess I do still love games, but what game did you have planned that's going to help me pick out what I'm doing first today?" Jack asked with an amused but still confused look on his face.
Before Chase could answer, two cats Jack hadn't seen before came into the room pulling what looked like a large wheel on a stand behind them and immediately Jack could tell what his Dragon Lord Master had in mind.
"Ah I see, you want me to spin that wheel don't you?" Jack asked with a knowing chuckle.
"Indeed I do Jack, each slot has a different method of training on it; you won't be doing all of them today as I'm sure you can see there are quite a lot of slots but I will be having you do five different forms of training today." Chase said as he gestured to the large wheel.
"That doesn't sound that bad, I would have thought you'd be having me do more." Jack said in a surprised way.
"Oh fear not Jack, as you progress you'll be doing more and more different training methods...however, believe me when I say that five will be more than enough to tire you out for now." Chase said, smirking.
"I believe you, well alright then... May I spin the wheel Master?" Jack asked with a mock bow to Chase despite actually respecting him in reality.
"You may, though it'll be more difficult than you think it is." Chase said with a chuckle as he leaned against the wall nearby.
Jack raised an eyebrow skeptically at this and looked at the wheel carefully, it seemed like a perfectly normal wheel to him and he didn't understand what Chase had meant when he'd said it would be more difficult to spin it then he thought it would.
"Hey what on earth, why didn't it spin?" Jack asked out loud in a confused way after he had tried to spin the wheel but it hadn't budged an inch.
"I told you that it wouldn't be as easy as you thought it would be." Chase said with an amused chuckle.
"There's some sort of trick to doing this isn't there?" Jack asked, suddenly realizing that Chase had purposely left him in the dark.
"As a matter of fact there is Jack, I'm pleased that you figured it out so soon... though given the fact that I know you're a genius I really shouldn't be surprised." Chase said, trying to hold in another chuckle.
"I don't suppose you'll give me a hint as to what I'm supposed to do will you?" Jack asked knowing fully well that Chase wasn't going to make it that easy on him.
"Now Jack, this may be your first day of training; but you know me better than that. Even if I wasn't your master I wouldn't take it that easy on you?" Chase said with an amused smile.
"Besides as I mentioned before I know full well that you're a genius, I have faith that you'll figure this out if you take time to think about it...we wouldn't want you to get bored because I babied you now would we?" Chase added not bothering to hide a mischievous smirk.
"No of course not, well alright I'll try to figure this out... just try not to get impatient if I can't solve the problem soon enough for you." Jack said with an amused chuckle.
"No need to worry about that Jack, even in your preteen years you were good at solving problems when you really stopped and put your mind to it, now you've grown up and you definitely know how to put that genius of yours to good use; in other words I have no need to grow impatient with you nowadays." Chase said with a confident smile.
"Thanks Chase, I think that I could get used to you saying such nice things." Jack said in a teasing but at the same time serious way.
"I'm sure you'll find ways to continue earning my praise, in the meantime we really do need to begin picking your first method of training so you'll need to figure out how to spin the wheel." Chase said a bit on the seductive side at first but then changed to a serious but not impatient voice.
"Right, hmm...let me think about this for a second." Jack said feeling glad that Chase was giving him time to think about this.
Carefully Jack examined the front of the wheel carefully, as before thought he could find nothing that seemed out of the ordinary; with this in mind Jack realized that there must be more to this wheel and decided to look at all sides of the wheel. After looking around both on the left and the right and finding nothing Jack made his way to the back of the wheel, to his surprise Jack spotted a small but still visible symbol on the back of the wheel.
"Damn, it's in one of the few languages I can't read, and I have a feeling that Chase wont tell me what it says." Jack thought to himself, sighing out loud.
"Something wrong Jack?" Chase asked clearly knowing that Jack had found the symbol but nonetheless playing innocent.
"Well I found the symbol you put on the back of the wheel but I can't read it, I don't suppose you'll tell me what it says now will you?" Jack said, looking over at Chase.
"Afraid not Jack but take your time, we have all day... though I am confident you'll figure it out soon."Chase said, still looking amused by all of this.
"I'm glad that you're confident, oh alright... I'll examine this closer and try to prove that you really can keep that apparent confidence you have in me." Jack said before leaning down to examine the symbol closer.
As Jack looked closely at the symbol he sighed a bit, he had no idea what the symbol said and wasn't sure how he would figure it out without Chase; not sure how it would help, Jack decided to run a finger along the symbol if only out of curiosity.
"Whoa what the, when I touched it I..."Jack started to say, jumping back a bit as a spark went up his finger after touching the symbol, but then stopping because he thought that he might have figured it out.
"Wait a minute, I think I get it now." Jack said feeling slightly proud of himself.
"Oh do you now, well by all means... prove it Mr. Spicer." Chase urged with a slightly sarcastically teasing voice despite knowing that his apprentice had indeed figured it out.
"Okay then Master Young, I will." Jack said, hoping that he sounded more confident than he actually was.
With a slightly nervous sigh Jack stood up and went back to the front of the wheel and pointed his hands toward the wheel. He felt a bit silly doing this but he also closed his eyes and concentrated as hard as he could on making the wheel move with his newly discovered powers.
"Very good Jack very good indeed, you'll need a lot more training on learning how to control your powers before you can move the wheel more but that wasn't bad for your first try." Chase said, sounding very pleased as apparently Jack had made the wheel move.
"Who knew making a silly wheel with the apparent symbol for metal carved on the back could be so hard to move." Jack said, opening his eyes and sighing because he could see that he hadn't made the wheel move that much.
"Now Jack, don't be so hard on yourself; as I mentioned you'll need more training before you learn how to really master your powers, however for now it looks like you're starting off with weight training." Chase said, placing a hand on Jack's back in an oddly reassuring way before gesturing to the wheel.
"Somehow I don't think I'm going to like this." Jack said with another sigh.
"It won't be so bad today Jack, after all you are just a beginner...I can't make promises for later training though." Chase said with a chuckle.
"I'm not sure if that reassured me or not." Jack said with an amused chuckle.
"Yes well at least I tried, now come Jack...we need to start your first training if we're ever going to get the other four." Chase said, also chuckling.
"Lead the way, I'm right behind you." Jack said.
Without a word Chase signaled Jack to follow him, Jack tried his best to hold in a sigh...he was only headed for the first round of training for the day and already he was not looking forward to what his Master had planned for him.
