1. I do not own Xiaolin Showdown but I do love both of the series. I do own Gloria/Gizmo who is Jack's daughter in fanfiction; she'll be a character throughout the story and I hope you will all like her
2. This fanfiction is an updated version of a story that I had started writing in 2014 and stopped working on in 2016 due to a lack of time and inspiration. Unfortunately I lost the original files and thus have no other choice but to post an entirely new version of the story that was copied and pasted from the original and then edited. Hopefully this version will be grammatically correct and have less errors overall.
3. This chapter was not in original fanfiction but given what happened in the last one I figured that immediately putting a Lemon scene in this chapter, like I did in the original, would be inappropriate. There is some kissing and cuddling in the chapter and a bit of fluffiness; also a bit of out of character-ness from Chase, but the lemon I ended the fanfiction on will be added later. This will likely mean little to those that never read the original but for those that did I hope you will understand the change.
Jack didn't remember passing out but apparently he had because he opened his eyes and found himself, to his slight embarrassment, in Chase's bed with the Dragon overlord sitting right beside him.
"I know you're probably confused so I'll tell you honestly that you did not just pass out, I gently knocked you out because you were shaking so badly after... after what Shadow made you do to." Chase said softly as he gently ran his long fingers through Jack's hair.
"Oh God so that wasn't a dream, Chase I know it's stupid that I freaked out but I..." Jack started to say looking at one of his surprisingly clean hands in a sad way when Chase interrupted.
"It wasn't stupid Jack, you've never killed before and seeing as you knew Shadow; having her get you so angry that you killed her was a shock...as well as the fact that it was your first kill" Chase said still running his fingers through Jack's hair.
"What am I going to say to Gizmo, she'll wonder where Shadow is and I'll..." Jack started to say in a sad Andy slightly panicked way when Chase interrupted yet again.
"I've already told your daughter what happened Jack, I had to... she saw me carrying you while you were still badly shaking and I had to explain to her what was going on." Chase said in an apologetic way as his fingers suddenly stopped moving.
"Shit, what did she say?!" Jack asked, bolting up into a sitting position in a panicked way.
"She said that she still loves you Jack, and shocked me with how smart she is for a four year old when she told me that Shadow was a fool for forcing you to do what you did to her" Chase said with a slight chuckle as he pulled Jack close to him gently.
"Yeah that sounds like my little Gizzie alright, sometimes I forget how smart she is too. I'm so glad she's not afraid of me after what I did." Jack said with a relieved but still clearly stressed sigh.
"Of course she's not afraid of you Jack, you're her father. She loves you very much, and I also find myself falling very quickly in love with you as well." Chase said in a kind way, clearly feeling embarrassed as he said this last part.
"So it is love then... what you feel for me I mean?" Jack asked, flipping himself over so he and Chase were eye to eye.
"Yes Jack it is, though you have to understand that this is extremely difficult for me. I have never truly loved anyone before... and after how I treated you in the past I cannot help but actually feel guilty." Chase explained with a heavy sigh before continuing.
"A part of me feels like I am taking advantage of how you look now and the talent I have discovered you possess, that as Shadow suggested I really am using you for my own..." Chase started to add in a surprisingly guilt heavy way when Jack interrupted him with a kiss
Chase was surprised but didn't fight the kiss, this was the most confused he had ever felt and honestly Jack kissing him was oddly comforting; eventually the young man pulled away and Chase couldn't help but stare at him in a questioning way.
"Chase listened to me, I still regret killing Shadow but she admitted she had been lying about you not caring about me. Maybe it started because of how I look now and maybe my elemental powers did help as well, but clearly there's something between us... something you and I need to figure out together if you're willing. Otherwise I'm satisfied with everything that's happened so far and am perfectly willing to be just your apprentice." Jack said in a surprisingly kind and understanding way.
"Oh I don't think it will be possible for me to allow you to become just my apprentice anymore, but yes... I would like to figure out if this is truly love or if your sudden appearance change and new skills are all that really caught my attention." Chase said feeling impressed with how Jack was taking all of this.
"Okay then, we'll take this more slowly; maybe get to know each other more and see how we live together and things like that. Eventually we'll figure out what's best for both of us." Jack suggested with a calm sigh
"And what if what is best for us is that we not be around each other Jack? What then?" Chase asked curiously.
"I honestly don't think it will come to that Chase." Jack said, sounding surprisingly confident.
"What if it does Jack? Humor me will you?" Chase said in a persistent but also almost pleading way which surprised Jack.
"Then I'll take Gizmo and have the Monks train her. I doubt they would ever take me in or trust me fully if they did; but they have no reason to not trust my daughter. As for me I would run my company like I used to and try not to ever use my powers again, I wouldn't take part in challenges anymore so I wouldn't have to be around you and be a distraction and I'd convince the monks that they didn't need Gizmo's help until she was much older... that way she wouldn't have to fight against you or the other Heylin members." Jack explained in a surprisingly composed and detailed way, which both impressed and surprised Chase.
"But that's just me humoring you... none of that is going to happen Chase. I know that there's more between us than you just thinking I look good or that my elemental powers are a useful tool." Jack added, still sounding confident.
"I wish I could be sure, this is the first time in my long life I haven't felt completely confident." Chase said, actually looking embarrassed.
"Like I said, we'll figure this out together. Let me be the confident one for once." Jack said with a gentle smile
"And here I was trying to comfort you after what happened earlier; but very well Jack I will trust in you and do my best to work together with you to figure it out." Chase said with a heavy sigh at first but then smiling in a surprisingly gentle way.
"Great, now come on; we were supposed to have lunch with Gizmo earlier and because of me we missed it. I have a feeling it's a lot later now but we should all have a meal together." Jack said, sitting up on the bed and offering a hand to Chase.
"Yes that sounds nice, besides your daughter is probably still worried about you." Chase said, taking Jack's hand and also sitting up.
"Let's not keep her waiting then." Jack said standing up and helping Chase do the same.
"Agreed, let's go." Chase said with a nod, continuing to hold Jack's hand tightly as the duo left his room together to go have a meal with Jack's daughter.
