The Diary

A/N: As y'all can already tell, I'm a little more liberal with The Diary compared to Frozen Oceans. I'm a bit on a Harry Potter kick. This will most likely be the main genre I'll write for. Frozen Ocean's updates will be a bit slower due to the amount of work I'm putting into it. Please subscribe to my Author Updates if you want to read any others I put out. Please Note: I am looking for a beta reader. Please PM me if you're interested.

Chapter Six:

Adoption

With a Crack, Harry and Tom apparatus to Slytherin Manor. The Manor stood tall, foreboding, and dark before him; it practically radiated dark magic that sent a thrill down Harry's spine in excitement. "Is this what I think it is?" he asked excitedly.

"Yes, it is. Welcome to Slytherin Manor, Harry," Tom smiled gesturing at the grandiose castle before him.

It was Gothic in style, having been lost and rebuilt throughout the many centuries as it stood against the tests of time. Parts of the castle, Harry could tell were older than the others as each heir added their own mark to their inheritance. Both of them started walking up to the castle, they went through the wards and Harry could feel them accept him like he never left to begin with. Tom was impressed, "You're a true Slytherin heir; that much is apparent," Tom mused, "Unless I add you to the wards, typically they would curse you."

"So that was a test?" asked Harry inquisitively.

"Yes," Tom murmured, "And you passed with flying colours. Welcome to your new home."

Harry settled into his new accommodations very comfortably over the next few days. He found that he and Tom were much more similar in their strengths and weaknesses as Tom began to tutor him in dark magical spells. Tom also tutored him in ancient ruins and arithmancy. Harry was beginning to enjoy the subjects and just found them fascinating, and knew what subjects he would be taking for his Hogwarts electives.

On July the 31st, the day of Harry's birthday, the day of the adoption ritual had come. For that, Tom and Harry had apparated to Gringotts Bank where the goblins would be performing the Blood ritual for them as well as finalizing all the paperwork so the adoption would be legal with the Ministry of Magic.

Griphook stood before them, "May your Gold overflow and be plentiful," Tom greeted with a bow.

Griphook bowed in return, "May your vaults continue to flourish," he greeted in return.

"We are here to have an adoption ritual performed and to finalize all the paperwork," Tom stated.

"Very good," Griphook replied, "Follow me," he gestured.

They walked through a hallway and entered what looked like a ritual room. There were countless ruins written on the floor as well as a spell circle drawn in white. "Join me in the center," Griphook said.

Sitting on a dais in the center of the spell circle sat a Chalice awaiting for their blood sacrifice for the ritual. Both Tom and Harry surrounded the Chalice, "Now, I need your hand," Griphook said to them both.

Harry offered his hand as did Tom. Griphook took out a ceremonial dagger, and sliced each of their palms. Both males grimaced due to the pain. He had them squeeze their palms and put the pooled blood that was in the center of their palms and had them pour it into the Chalice for the ritual.

"Blood of the Father freely given

Blood of the child freely taken

Make this child his blood

Adopt this child, for he is now his blood."

There was a flash of light from the spell circle. Griphook then started to chant in Gobliddygook as he completed the ritual. He lift the Chalice to Tom's lips and he drank from the Chalice. Then he lifted the Chalice to Harry's lips. "Drink it. All of it," Griphook instructed.

Harry consumed the remainder of the blood then felt stomach pains start to rock his body. He coughed. "The ritual is complete. I will take you both to a waiting room so Mr. Riddle can now complete his transformation. Follow me," Griphook instructed again.

Tom supported Harry's weight and brought him into a waiting room where a bed awaited them and a couple of chairs. Harry lied down on the bed and as soon as his head hit the pillow, he was out like a light.

As Harry slept the transformation took place. Some of Harry's features changed to look like Tom. His jet black hair lengthened, he transformed from a child resembling James Potter into a child that now resembled Tom Riddle Jr. He grew in height and he went from skin and bones to having weight added onto him. Tom remained in silence while the transformation continued; he knew it was remarkably painful.

Tom had wished, as a child, that a family would adopt him and take him away from the orphanage. This was how way for trying to make amends for all he has done.

After some time, Harry began to stir from his spell-induced slumber. He opened his eyes, and everything was blurry, then he removed his glasses. He could see! He didn't need his glasses anymore! "Hello, Harry," Tom greeted, "Nice to see you finally awake. I'm glad everything was a success with the ritual. Would you like to see what you look like now?"

"I would love to!" Harry replied in excitement and merriment.

Tom waved his wand and a mirror appeared before him, and what Harry saw shocked him. Harry saw himself and gone were the features that made him look like James Potter, but they were replaced by a mixture of Lily Potter's features and Tom Riddle's features.

"While you were sleeping, Griphook and I got all of the paperwork nonsense out of the way, so now we can just go home since you've finally awoken."

"How long have I been out?" Harry asked.

"Give or take about six hours," replied Tom.

Harry nodded and got up from the bed and stretched. "I'm taller!" Harry exclaimed.

Harry and Tom left Gringotts, then with a Crack! They left Diagon Alley.
