Chapter 17 Noble Kleavor Battle
After Ash and Serena arrive at the Grandtree Arena, Lian is waiting for them as he asks, "So you say that you Galaxy people came up with a method to try to quell Lord Kleavor's frenzy?"
"Of course, Professor Laventon says that we can try combining Kleavor's favorite foods into balls so that we can throw them at him." Ash says.
"What? You'll mash up Kleavor's favorite foods into balls so you can THROW offerings at him?! Well, that's quite an unorthodox approach... You Galaxy people... You inventiveness just blows me away! I mean, now you can make offerings to Lord Kleavor...from a safe distance!" Lian exclaims. "I'll lend you my aid if it means we might provide Kleavor with his offering. Let's begin at once!"
"Hold on, Lian! Don't get ahead of yourself." Just then, Irida also arrives and she says, "Whatever the plan is, you'll need Kleavor's favorite Plump Beans. I've brought them, as promised."
"Gah! That's right! My apologies, Irida - I'd forgotten all about you!" Lian says.
"I admit, as we haven't been able to solve this ourselves, we seem to have a little choice but to turn to the Galaxy Team. But even I still have my doubts about whether we should entrust such a thing to outsiders. These Galaxy Team people don't share our customs or our values." Irida frowns. "So prove to me you're worthy to stand in the presence of our noble Pokemon!"
Just then, Irida's Glaceon also rushes forward, and Ash says, "I see you want to battle. I'll..."
"Hold on, Ash. Leave the battle to me." Serena says, much to his surprise. "I feel like I should be the one doing this."
"Okay..." Ash sighs.
"You may battle by ordering about the Pokemon you've caught in your little Poke Balls...But on my side, I have a Pokemon as close to me as a sister - as one of my blood! If you can defeat Glaceon and me, I will entrust you with Kleavor's fate. Allow Galceon's true strength to chill you to your depths!" Irida says.
"As if! Sylveon!" Serena says as she sends out her own Eeveelution. "Powder Snow!" Irida commands, and Glaceon tries to shoot some ice towards Sylveon.
"Dodge it, and go with Fairy Wind!" Serena yells, and the move causes some damage. "Good, now let's go with Swift!"
"You too!" Irida commands, and both Eeveelutions are shooting stars and both of them are equal power. "Now Iron Tail!" Serena says, "Finish it off!"
Sylveon's Iron Tail slams at Glaceon, much to Irida's surprise, and Glaceon is already down by the attack.
"I see now...Poke Balls are simply your tools of choice, not products of disregard for Pokemon." Irida says while trying to heal her Glaceon with berries. "You still understand the Pokemon that you've caught and treat them as partners. I feel better putting my trust in you two now, I think."
Then she offers to heal Sylveon, while doing so, she asks, "Now, explain the Galaxy Team's plan. What do you mean to do with these foods?"
After explaining what they have told Lian, Irida says, "So because you have to keep your distance, you'll mash Kleavor's favorite foods together, ball them up, and try to quell his frenzy by...throwing at him? Interesting. So you've developed soothing balms of sorts to calm our lord...Very well. If it'll help soothe Kleavor's frenzy, let's make these balms with our very hearts and souls!"
Then they try to make some balms and then they make a huge basket of them. Lian says, "There! A veritable mountain of balms! This should please Kleavor, if anything can...Now then, ready yourself! And I will summon our mighty Kleavor, Lord of the Woods."
Ash and Serena nod as they enter the arena, Lian walks to the altar and says, "Oh mighty Kleavor, Lord of the Woods...Though it isn't yet the time of the ceremony, we've prepared an offering of your favorite things. Benevolent Lord who works his might between the heavens and earth, we offer our gratitude. And beseech you - reveal yourself to our eyes..."
"Listen well, Ash and Serena - keep your focus on Kleavor! Dodging will be vital. Try to avoid his moves as you're throwing the balms!"
"So we won't be having a Pokemon Battle..." Ash mutters.
And they hear shaking as something glowing yellow just rushes past, and the tree immediately cuts in half after the yellow shadow just rushes past. It stops in front of Ash and Serena as it roars.
"So that's Kleavor...look at those arms..." Serena says.
"This is the first time I see this Pokemon as well..." Ash says, "Another evolution of Scyther...who would have known..."
Ash and Serena start to throw balms at him, but after throwing two of them, it starts to charge them with a Double Hit attack. Ash and Serena are forced to dodge the attack.
"Oh my gosh...it is so fast..." Serena says.
"I know." Ash says while rushing behind to throw a balm, but when Ash jumps out of the way, Kleavor slams into a tree as it is a little confused.
Serena says, "Now it's our chance!"
Ash takes out a Pokeball and says, "Floatzel! I choose you!"
The sea weasel Pokemon appears and Ash yells, "Use Aqua Jet! Hold him in place!"
Floatzel tries to attack with the super effective move, only to be hit by Kleavor's Rock type attack.
"That's Stealth Rock!" Irida exclaims.
"Stealth Rock? But that's different from what we used to know..." Serena gasps.
"Yeah...somehow it becomes just like Fire Spin..." Ash says, "Floatzel, don't give up and use Sonic Boom!"
The move causes Kleavor to faint a little, and Ash and Serena recall Floatzel and use the chance to throw balms. But after throwing 8 or 9 more, it wakes up again and continues to attack.
"Just how many health does this Pokemon have?" Ash asks.
"I don't know, but my gut tells me that we're far from over!" Serena says as she manages to throw another one.
Kleavor goes with the Aerial Ace attack on Serena this time, but Serena dodges the way and Kleavor hits the giant rock on the field. Ash says, "Pikachu! Iron Tail from behind!"
Pikachu nods as he gives a back slam, causing it to fall again, and Ash and Serena throw the balms for some more. But after a while, it still manages to get up and attack with Air Slash.
"Now it is going for the Air Slash!" Ash accidentally gets hit and he can see blood from his left arm. Serena says, "Ash! Are you alright?"
"This sure is no joke..." Ash says. "If we aren't careful...we might as well be dead by this Pokemon..."
Kleavor is charging up the Aerial Ace again, and Serena takes out Wyrdeer and says, "Please carry Ash and dodge the attacks."
Wyrdeer nods as he carries Ash and leave, Serena also dodges at the same time so that Kleavor hits the tree again. Ash says, "Wyrdeer, use Psyshield Bash! Don't worry about me."
Wyrdeer uses the move to crash into Kleavor, causing it to faint again, and after 6 or 7 more throws of balms, they find that there is only one balm left in the basket.
"Serena, we have to be careful, this is our last balm!" Ash says.
"Don't worry! Let's go!" Serena picks up the final balm and throws at Kleavor, causing the yellow glow to disappear from the Noble Pokemon and returning it back to normal. Kleavor has brown and clay colored skin, and the scythes are just like stone axes.
"We've done it..." Ash says while holding his arm.
"Kleavor is back to normal..." Irida gasps in surprise. "Ash and Serena did it..."
Kleavor walks towards Ash and takes out another one of Arceus' plates, the Insect Plate. Ash says, "Insect Plate...this one is a stone tablet imbued with the essence of bugs."
He reads the words on the plate and says, "Where all creation was born, that is the being's place of origin."
Just then, Kleavor rushes away back into the woods, and Lian asks, "What happened? Some kind of light erupted from Kleavor's body! Has Lord Kleavor's frenzied mind truly been put at ease now?!"
"Does this confirm that the strange lightning was to blame for Kleavor's unnatural power?" Irida asks.
"It could be, but this is what we thought after what we've seen." Ash says.
"We know strange lightning came from out of the space-time rift the other night...Those bolts must have struck Kleavor and driven him into his frenzy after all." Irida says.
"The lightning came from the space-time rift? But if almighty Sinnoh really does dwell beyond that space-time rift, then the strange lightning...It indeed was almighty Sinnoh's power?! Then were we even right to try to interfere?" Lian asks while becoming angry. "I happily went along with this plan to create some balms, as if I knew what I was doing - like some kind of thoughtless fool! Outrageous!"
"Calm yourself, Lian. Remember that the Lord of the Woods has long been our protector, keeping the Pearl Clan safe from dangerous Pokemon that might harm us. Would power sent by the true almighty Sinnoh have driven Kleavor to turn on us and attack people and Pokemon indiscriminately? I doubt it. What Ash and Serena accomplished just now...It needed to be done."
Lian lowers his head at Irida's words, and Irida turns to Ash and Serena. "I'm glad we could settle this without further strife with the Diamond Clan or the Galaxy Team. If you come across other Pokemon in the grip of this painful frenzy, please help them."
She looks at Lian, who mutters, "Hrmmm...Yes. Fine. I suppose I must concur. I apologize for becoming briefly incomposed. I'm grateful for what you've done for my lord."
"It's fine." Ash says, "I mean we're glad to see Kleavor safe as well."
"Please, take these - on behalf of the Pearl Clan. Consider it my apology for having spoken rudely to you earlier...and a token of my thanks." Irida gives them 3 Sitrus Berries, and she says, "Let me care for your Pokemon as well. In appreciation for fighting on our behalf!"
As she is healing their Pokemon, Serena is also helping Ash with the medicine on his arm. Serena says, "Geez Ash...it is a good thing that the cut is not that big..."
"I know..." Ash says. "But I should've been more careful."
"I think I've finally come to believe that you two truly did fall out of the sky..." Irida says. "Though I still can't imagine the reasons at play."
"And it seems we've settled things here. Though, between you and me..." Lian adds. "I wouldn't mind seeing Lord Kleavor in such a frenzy again. He was fearfully strong, after all!"
"I can also feel it as well." Ash says. "This was the first time for both Serena and me that we have to do this to Kleavor..."
Serena says, "But something tells me that we will be facing this kind of battle more, and the situation might be more dangerous that we are enduring right now..."
And this is the end of the first noble battle, even though the game gives us infinite amount of balms, I want to make it more realistic as there are only limited balms and the fact that they will be having wounds after being hit by the attacks. I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter will be more Pokemon capturing and side requests.
