Chapter 21 The Wisps
After getting inside the Galaxy Hall, they go to the third floor and find Kamado, who hears the news and says, "Hrrm. Well done! I have already received the reporters of your exploits. You successfully quelled Kleavor's frenzy, restoring peace of mind to Hisui's people. You are a stranger to us - one who fell out of the very sky. Yet you have served the Galaxy Team admirably. I admit you have earned yourselves some degree of recognition."
Ash and Serena are delighted to hear what Kamado says, and he adds, "But things are not settled yet, I've received word that there are other Pokemon nobles falling prey to such frenzies elsewhere in Hisui. So carry on with your research and survey duties, and prove that you truly are an asset to us! That is all. You are dismissed. Your fellow Survey Corps members are likely at the Wallflower. Go and join them."
Ash and Serena nod as they go to Wallflower with Akari and Laventon. Laventon says, "Beni, old chum, the usual order! Four servings of potato mochi, please! Oh, and if there's anything else that you'd recommend, by all means, bring it out!"
"The whole village is gossiping up a storm about our young friends here, you know." Beni smiles. "They've got quite some luck to have come back unharmed after facing off against that Kleavor." Beni says.
"Well, we did get some minor injuries." Ash says. "But we were prepared."
"And they were a quick study of how Kleavor moved in battle, form what I heard!" Laventon says. "All in all, it was a very good show! A victory well earned!"
"We can feel safer going about our Survey Corps duties now, thanks to your efforts." Akari says. "Oh, by the way - why not try crafting some of these? I made the recipe based on directions Beni gave me."
They are given the recipe of Smoke Bombs, much to their surprise, and Laventon says, "Lovely! And now that we need not worry about being mauled by Kleavor, either...Let's take our chance to study all the Pokemon that call the Obsidian Fieldlands their home!"
"Well, Professor, you did see our Pokedex, we've found all of the Pokemon we can find in the Obsidian Fieldlands. The only left is their evolutions." Ash says.
"I know, by the way, it seems that Captain Cyllene is already taking a rest, so you should try to talk to her to gain another rank tomorrow." Laventon says.
"You found all the Pokemon in Obsidian Fieldlands? That is amazing, Ash, Serena." Akari adds.
"Why thank you." Serena says.
After talking for some more, they have decided to go back to rest as they don't have much sleep during these days while hunting for nocturnal Pokemon. But just as they are going to get back, they hear a girl's voice, "Ash and Serena..."
They turn around to see a girl, and she says, "I've been waiting for you, Ash and Serena...My name's Vessa. There's something really important I need to tell you. Would you come with me?"
As they follow the girl, they are now at the river as she says, "Um, this is kind of a secret, but...something terrible has happened. Hisui is in a whole lot of danger."
"What do you mean by that?" Serena asks.
"Hundreds of years ago, a being that brought calamity to this region was sealed away by someone with a Pikachu using the power of a strange magic. But now, for some unknown reason, the magic has come undone and the seal is broken. I hate to think what might happen at this rate..."
"For some reason, I have heard of this kind of tale before..." Ash mutters.
"So please, Ash and Serena, hear me out. I need you to restore the broken seal..." Vessa pleads.
"What do you want us to do?" Serena asks.
"Can I give you this Odd Keystone anyway? It'll help me out." Vessa takes the item and Ash says, "Oh boy...don't tell me that it is a Spiritomb..."
"After the seal was broken, a whooole bunch of wisps scattered across Hisui...A hundred and seven of them in total." Vessa says.
"I thought there are a hundred and eight..." Ash thinks. "But perhaps it was after what happened in this timeline that it gets another one?"
"With the Odd Keystone I gave you, you'll be able to gather them all. See, the wisps are normally invisible. But not to the holder of the Odd Keystone." Vessa says. "I know it's a huge task, but please...you just have to gather all the wisps for me! There's one really close to where we are now. How about you start with that one?"
As the girl turns around, Ash and Serena do the same, Serena says, "There's nothing there..."
"Serena, hold this." Ash gives Serena the Odd Keystone, and she also sees a wisp in front of them.
"See that flame hovering over there? Try touching it." Vessa says as Ash walks to touch the flame, and the wisp flies into the Odd Keystone.
"The wisp...has been absorbed into the Odd Keystone, just as it should have been. Thank goodness I picked you to help me with this..." Vessa says. "Come talk to me if you ever need help finding the remaining wisps."
"We do need to know about that." Ash says.
"So far, I know that there are 20 of them in the Obsidian Fieldlands, and there are 6 in the Jubilife Village. As for the others, maybe you'll find it along the way. And one last thing - as you gather more and more wisps, I'll give you some rewards as thanks!" Vessa says. "I'll wait here for you while you carry out your search. Good luck!"
Ash and Serena just feel something strange about the girl, but they decide to ignore it and go back to their quarters and rest.
The next day, Ash and Serena are now walking on the road as they are finding the 6 wisps in the Jubilife Village. The first wisp is located behind the Galaxy Hall building inside one of the building's cutouts. The second one is located behind the Training Grounds building. The third one is located behind the Crafting building near the large waterwheel at the center of the village. The fourth one is located in between the leftmost row of houses when standing at the village's front gate. The fifth one is located behind the wooden shed on the western edge of the Farm. And the final one is located outside the front gate next to a tree on Prelude Beach.
"I'm glad that we can still find it in the daytime." Ash says. "So now we have seven of them."
"Yeah, we can try to find the 20 wisps in the Obsidian Fieldlands." Serena adds.
But before they can go there, they see a girl standing in front of the hairdresser and she says, "Wow! The Galaxy Team hairdresser really is dare I say...cutting edge!"
As the girl turns around, Ash gasps as he looks like Mars from Team Galactic. She says, "Oh, hey! You're Ash and Serena, the boy and girl who quelled Kleavor, aren't you?"
"Well, we are..." Ash says.
"I knew it! You've got quite the reputation, you know." The girl says, "I mean, you quelled one of the almighty Sinnoh's chosen ones! Some people are actually kinda scared of you for doing something so bold."
"I see, um..." Serena asks.
"I'm Arezu, by the way!" Arezu says. "I'm a warden of the Diamond Clan. My special skill is giving haircuts. Real nice to meet you!"
Then she remembers something and says, "Oh snip! But I came here to talk to your Mr. Kamado. See you around!"
Arezu leaves, and they decide to go into the Galaxy Hall to talk to Cyllene about their progress. After checking the Pokedex, she says, "Hm. You have made progress. It seems you have earned yourself a star."
After giving them the star, Cyllene adds, "With this, you have officially attained the rank of Third Star in the Galaxy Expedition Team."
She also gives them a recipe for the Great Balls, which is better than a Poke Ball. "Continue to dedicate yourself to completing the Pokedex if you hope to rise higher in the ranks."
After that's done, Ash and Serena decide to head to the Obsidian Fieldlans, but before they do that, they find another request from the request board.
"Yota, a fellow from the village, claims to have seen a rather strange Ponyta. You must investigate the matter for the good of science!" Ash says. "Strange Ponyta?"
"I don't know." Serena says as they find Yota, who is on the bridge close to the farm fields.
"You're here about my Ponyta request, right? Glad to have some help at last! Here's the problem... A Ponyta like no one's ever seen before has appeared in the Horseshoe Plains. It looks so different than the other Ponyta, it's a little scary, to be honest! But when I told the professor he got all excited about researching it! So we agreed to have the Ponyta surveyed and see what's what. If you'd head to the Horseshoe Plains and catch that strange Ponyta for us, it'd really help us out!" Yota says.
"Sure, we'll help." Ash says as they all head back to Obsidian Fieldlands.
After arriving at the fieldlands, they notice that a blue fire Ponyta is in front of them. Ash says, "That color is unusual...it must be a Shiny Ponyta."
"That's amazing..." Serena adds.
Then they decide to capture the Ponyta, and they manage to do it with ease. Then they decide to find the wisps in the Obsidian Fieldlands as well.
The first wisp is located atop a hilly area on the southern section of Ramanas Island; the second one is located on the northern shore of the small island just above Ramanas Island; the third one is located on the shoreline of the area south of Ramanas Island, near the bottom of the map, where they found the Alpha Lopunny; the fourth one is located atop a large grassy plateau northwest of Aspiration Hill; the fifth one is located on a grassy section along the northern side of Lake Verity.
The sixth one is located outside the eastern wall of Lake Verity overlooking the river below; the seventh one is located on a small grassy cliff near the center of the Sandgem Flats area and the place they caught Alpha Alakazam; the eighth one is located south of Tidewater Dam near the mountain ridge; the ninth one is overlooking the sandy area near the river flowing by The Heartwood area, southeast of Tidewater Dam; the tenth wisp is east of Tidewater Dam in the northern section of The Heartwood overlooking the river below.
The eleventh one is located atop a large grassy mountainous structure near Oreburrow Tunnel; the twelfth one is located south of Obsidian Falls on top of a large grassy mountain; the thirteenth one is located northeast of Obsidian Falls on a small grassy island near the easternmost section of the map; the fourteenth one is located southeast of Grueling Grove, alongside the rocky mountains on the northeastern side of the map; the fifteenth one is located on a grassy plateau in the northeastern section of Horseshoe Plains near where they caught the Alpha Rapidash.
The sixteenth one is located just south of the Heights Camp at the edge of a grassy cliff overlooking the area below; the seventeenth one is located South of Nature's Pantry on a small grassy hill with a tree as you approach Tidewater Dam; the eighteenth one is located west of the Heights Camp alongside the rocky mountainside; the nineteenth one is located along the Deertrack Path hillside just north of Deertrack Heights; and the final one is hidden next to the base of the rocky mountains near the Worn Bridge area.
"Those wisps are sure hard to find..." Ash says. "But that's all of them, right?"
"Yeah." Serena adds.
After that's done, they head back to find Yota and show him the Ponyta they found.
"I see you caught that strange Ponyta! You Survey Corps folks sure don't mess around. You know, a friend from mine from Galar was surprised when he saw the Ponyta herds out in the fieldlands. He couldn't wrap his head around their fiery manes! At this time, I thought it was an odd thing to be amazed by...But now that I know some Ponyta have blue flames, it's not such a stretch to think there might be all sorts of them out there. And I'm not just talking about Ponyta, mind! Who knows how many differently colored Pokemon there are in the world! I hope the Survey Corps keeps trying its level best to research them all."
After that, they are given 5 Razz Berries for completing the task.
I'll end the chapter here, as you can see, Ash and Serena will be searching for the wisps of Spiritomb as well. I know some of them can't be found until you have the ride Pokemon, but Ash and Serena are experienced trainers, they'll find a way. I hope you like this chapter.
