Chapter 26 Jubilife Works

Then they go to the clothes store and find Anthe, who asks, "The clothes you were wearing when you first came to the village...I can't describe to you the shock they gave me! It's as if I got a glimpse of the future! There's no mistaking it - you're passionate about fashion, aren't you?"

Ash says, "Serena here passionates a lot about fashion."

"Ash!" Serena blushes.

"I see...Well, I have the duty of making this village more fashionable, too. Let us study fashion together! You're part of the Survey Corps, am I right? Please, I ask that you lend me your talents. I've been told that Hippopotas, which can be found around the Crimson Mirelands, have different appearances based on their gender. I feel like if I were able to see and compare them, it would inspire me to create new designs for my clothing! Please, could you show me both a male and a female Hippopotas?"

"Sure." Ash says, "We already have them."

After showing the two Hippopotas, she says, "Wah! I never thought just a change in color would lead to such a different impression for the same Pokemon...That's definitely inspired me! Give me just one moment..."

Then Ash and Serena offer to help make clothes, and they make Oribe patterned Kimonos, Star patterned Kimonos, Checker patterned Kimonos, and Large Dots patterned Kimonos. Both Top and bottoms.

"Those sure are some great outfits." Ash says.

"And I never thought you were able to sew clothes as well, Ash." Serena says.

"I just feel like it." Ash says.

They also spot a photo studio, and they decide to check it out, the owner named Dagero says, "Ah, just the people I was waiting for! There's a Pokemon I was hoping you could bring me. I've been trying to make a business of offering the groundbreaking experience of having your photo taken with Pokemon...but no one around here seems to understand the appeal. Perhaps they're all just too afraid of Pokemon to get over their reluctance...But I happened to accidentally catch a Pokemon in this photo, and it gave me a brilliant idea!"

As he shows them a picture, they see that it is a picture of the Heartwoods, and on the bottom-left corner, there are a pair of ears poking out.

"See how fluffy it is? How adorably soft? How irresistibly, impossibly cuddly? Once people see a Pokemon like this in a photo, they'll all want to have their portraits taken together with it! But I need to get a better shot of it than this one. If you find one, could you bring it here?"

Ash turns to Serena, "Hey, Serena. Do you think these ears belonged to Buneary?"

"If you look at it, it sure does look like Buneary's ears." Serena remarks.

After entering the room and showing him the Buneary, he says, "Oh, it's even fluffier and lovelier than I imagined from that photo! This is it! This is exactly it! Let's get a proper shot at once!"

After taking a picture of the Buneary, he says, "I was able to get just the shot I needed, thanks to you and that Pokemon of yours. This should go a long way toward getting the other villagers over their fears and into some photos with Pokemon!"

He shows them the dreamy filter photo, and Ash and Serena are both in awe at it. Once they finished taking pictures, Serena says, "I wonder it is because of us that photos and clothes are now becoming modern these days..."

"Who knows, or maybe Arceus is messing with us." Ash says.

They find a man named Taggart and he says, "Hey, sport. Interest you in some target practice? All you've got to do is lob some balls and try to pop some balloons. Easy peasy, fun and breezy. Even got some fine prizes lined up to give out, depending on how well you do. If you manage to break 10000 points, you'll be in for a real treat - I can tell you that. If you're up for a challenge, you just let me know. I'm usually to be found in the practice field."

As they go to the practice field that is out of the village, they find a lot of balloons floating in the air and they are gasping in shock. "Line up lots of targets-pop a lot per ball! Practice, practice, practice, and be the best of all! What do you say, sport? Up for a challenge?"

"We are." Ash and Serena nod. And they start to throw the balls at Balloons when the timer is set to one minute. They also notice that after some balloons are gone, other new balloons will appear from the sky and land in front of them. There are also yellow balloons that score better than the purple ones, and in the end, they get a score of 12900.

"Your score this time was 12900 points! Now, isn't that something! You've set yourself a record. Wel done! As I said, I've got prizes lined up to give out, depending on how well you do. Based on your score this time, here's a prize just for you!"

They get two Smoke Bombs as prizes, not that they are expecting it. They also get the real prize for scoring more than 10000, which are 15 Great Balls and a Nugget.

"That sure is a lot of treasures we have there." Ash says.

"Yeah, let's see if we can do some more quests." Serena adds.

And when they go to the fields, they find one of the farmers named Miller, and he says, "Hey, yer in the Survey Corps, ain'tcha? Just the feller I was lookin' fer! I'm workin' to make these 'ere fields bigger, but the ground sure is hard to plow. So I'm lookin' fer someone to lend me a hand! More fields means more food, which means everyone's happy - includin' the Survey Corps! We're all in this together after all, right?"

"So what do you want with our help?" Ash asks.

"If you have a Ground-type Pokemon, could I borrow it?" The man finally asks. Ash decides to give him the Hippopotas, as it is a Ground-type that they currently have in the team.

"Yer Pokemon'll sure be a big help in expandin' the fields. Might as well get started!" Then he starts to have Hippopotas plow the fields, and they can see how diligent Hippopotas is doing. "Wowee! It's turnin' this gritty ol' soil all soft an' fluffy like it's nothin'! How's it doin' that?!"

"Maybe because of how diligent he is?" Serena asks.

After that, another field is done, and Miller says, "Aaand seems we're done here! What a trooper! That was some fine work! Any crops we plant here'll do great - and it's all thanks to you three. We'll keep yer Pokemon here to help out with the field work a while longer. Just give it a holler if you wanna swap in a different Pokemon to be our plowin' partner!"

"Sure." Ash and Serena nod.

Back at the pastures, they find a boy named Belamy, and he says, "Oh, my. You...You know, you remind me somehow of my grandmother! She was always so friendly with her Pokemon, just as you seem to be."

"Really?" Serena asks.

"I feel the same aura from you - as if you could become true friends with a Pokemon. I'd be interested in seeing how friendly you are with the Pokemon you carry with you. I hope you'll come show me sometime."

"We can just do it now, right? Pikachu?" Ash asks, and Pikachu nods.

"This Pikachu...look how pleased it is to be traveling with you! You've a true friend here, I can tell! My grandmother was precisely like you - the type of person who could understand the minds and hearts of Pokemon. I grew up watching how she interacted with them, so I have a bit of a knack for sensing how compatible a person and a Pokemon are. If you'd like to, you can keep on coming to show me your Pokemon. I'm happy to inform you at any time how they're feeling about you."

Then he gives them a Rare Candy, and they can always ask him about their relationship with Pokemon.

The next request is from a woman named Shinon, and she says, "Oh! You're the boy and the girl from the Survey Corps, aren't you? Thank goodness you came along. Could I ask you to fetch a plant for me? I need to use it to make some medicine. The plant I'm after has three leaves and a taste bitter enough to make you dizzy! Unfortunately, I don't know where it grows...Try asking Anise from the Medical Corps - she'll be able to point you in the right direction!"

Ash and Serena are still confused, so they find Anise and she says, "Hmmm? Oh, hello, dearie. Shinon sent you out searching for a medicinal plant, did she?"

"Yeah, do you know where you can find that?" Serena asks.

"That'll be our three-leaved little helper, then. Shinon doesn't know this, but...it's actually a Pokemon that lives in the Crimson Mirelands. Poor Shinon will get quite shocked if she finds out, so bring it back to me instead, would you? Best of luck on your search, dearie."

"I don't think that has helped us..." Ash says. "And I don't think we have that Pokemon in our party..."

"The Pokemon with three leaves on its head..." Serena says, "Maybe I'll message Professor Oak or Lillie to see if they know anything about it."

As they text the message using the Arc Phone, it is after several minutes that they manage to return a photo. Serena says, "A Petilil...but do they live in Sinnoh?"

"If I know for sure, Petilil is actually an Unovan Pokemon." Ash frowns. "Maybe it might be living in Crimson Mirelands?"

"Then we'll just have to find one once we go back." Serena adds. "How about we try to search for those Unowns in Jubilife Village?"

"Are you sure they'll be here?" Ash asks.

"Let's see the descriptions, you can read Unown, right?" Serena asks.

As they decide to search, they get to the eighth one, which is for Unown H, and Ash says, "It says a village gateway. Maybe we should search there."

As they get to the gateway, they search high and low for the Unown, until Pikachu finds it trying to become a letter of the welcome sign. Ash throws a Pokeball at it and much to their surprise, it is easily captured.

Unown's Research Tasks: Number of different forms you've obtained:1,5,10,15,28

Hisui Dex Entry No.142 Unown: The Symbol Pokémon: Psychic-type. It is hard to believe these strangely shaped Pokémon are truly living creatures. I've pointed out that the species' many forms resemble writing from other lands; no one will take me seriously.

"That easily, huh?" Ash says. "Let's see where is the next one."

They read all the letters, until they stop at W, "The left eye atop the village."

Serena says, "Left eye? Atop the village? You don't mean that it is on top of the Magikarp Statues in the Galaxy Hall..."

Ash looks on top of the village, and he says, "There it is! But how do we get up there? We can't just walk to Commander Kamado's office like that."

"How about a Feather Ball?" Serena asks as she throws a ball, and after several tries, they manage to capture the Unown W.

"And while you're throwing, I found the last one, Unown Question Mark: Where things hang to dry at living quarters." Ash says.

"Does that mean it is at our hanging ropes?" Serena asks as they go back to their quarters, Unown Question Mark is hanging there without a doubt.

"So that's the three Unowns that we can find here..." Serena says. "I guess the others are in Obsidian Fieldlands or Crimson Mirelands?"

"Maybe they are scattered everywhere just like those Wisps, speaking of that, we haven't found the wisps in the Crimson Mirelands yet." Ash says.

"Yeah. How about we go to Obsidian Fieldlands to search for the Unown there?" Serena asks.

"Good idea." Ash says as they all head to Obsidian Fieldlands.

I'll end the chapter here, as you can see, Ash and Serena finish 5 requests and also capture 3 Unown. I hope you like this chapter.
