'It's been a few months that the universe was being saved and as of right now, I was not with the Doctor at the moment, he wanted me to have a vacation, away from him. I have been with my biological father ever since, I'm getting to know him as he is getting to know me. We have some things in common and some things we don't, he says that I look like my mother with bits of himself. I'm very happy with my father, but there some things I worry about, he is human and I'm only half human, he will live out faster than I do and I only hope it's not too fast.' Maddie looked at her father, he was sitting in a chair. 'I enjoy every moment with my father as I get to know the stories with him and my mother.'
Liam read the newspaper as then he looked up from it and looked at his daughter. "Don't stare too much at your dear old dad."
Maddie smiled. "I'm not, dad." Then she stood up and walked towards her father. "I'm just a bit bored."
"I understand, from traveling and then to here with me." Liam put the newspaper away. "It's a big change, dear."
"I know, but I wanted this." Maddie looked at her father. "I want to be with you, dad."
Liam raised an eyebrow. "One of these days you will be going back to the Doctor, you know you two shouldn't be long apart from each other."
"I know." Maddie nodded.
Then Liam stood up and grabbed his wallet as he looked at his daughter. "Come, we are going out for diner."
Maddie raised an eyebrow. "Why so suddenly? Why now?" She asked suspicions.
"Just no reason." Liam looked at his daughter.
"Right." Maddie crossed with her arms.
Liam smiled at her. "You will like it."
"Alright, then." Maddie smiled back at her father.
Then they walked out of the house, her father closed the door as then they walked to the car and went to the restaurant.
~00~
When they arrived at the restaurant, they saw Amy and Rory as well. "Hey, Amy, Rory." Maddie greeted them.
"Hey." They greeted her back.
Then Maddie looked at her father. "Was this, the surprise?"
"Yeah." Liam nodded to her.
Then they all sat together and got their food as they began to eat.
~00~
Later, they were all done and said their goodbyes as then they went home. When they arrived home, there was letter on the doormat. Maddie looked confused as she picked it up, it was a TARDIS blue and it has on it number one. "Dad, do you know where this came from?" She looked at her father.
Liam looked at the letter as well. "No." He shook his head.
"Strange." Maddie looked back the letter. "It's Tardis blue."
"Strange indeed." Liam agreed with his daughter.
Then Maddie put the letter on the table. "I will see what's inside of it tomorrow." Then she looked at her father. "I'm gonna go to bed, dad."
Liam nodded to her. "Sleep well."
"You too, dad." Maddie told him as then she went to bed.
~00~
The next day, Maddie went over to the table and grabbed the letter, she opened it and there was coordinates. "Coordinates, date and time." Maddie hold it up to let her father to see. "22-04-2011, 16 : 30 MDT and the coordinates 37* 0* 38* N 110* 14* 34* W."
Liam walked towards her and looked at the letter. "I think this is coordinates are the location that you need to go."
"Why me? And not with you?" Maddie asked to her father.
"Tardis blue and number 1 on the back." Liam replied as he stated the obvious.
"Oh." Maddie looked really good at the letter. "You are right, dad." Then she looked up from the letter and looked at her father. "So, you I think I should go then?"
Liam nodded to her. "I think you should, but only if you want that self, of course."
"I want to go." Maddie told her father.
"Then you go find the Doctor on these coordinates." Her father pointed at the letter.
"Yeah." Maddie nodded to her father.
~00~
Later that day, Maddie was gone to find the Doctor with coordinates she had from the letter. She had everything with her that she wanted to take, it's just a shame that she didn't own a vortex manipulator, then she could have just gone there without any time to waste, but that wasn't the case, she must go with the car that she could use from her father. It would take a few days for her to get there, but when she could there, it would be a sad surprise, that didn't even noticed yet.
~00~
Arrived at the place, where she needed to be, she was there second. The Doctor was there first, she parked her father's car and stepped out of it. Then she walked to the Doctor. "Alright, Doctor, what's with the mystery letter?" She was straight to the point.
The Doctor ignored that, instead he hugged her, whispering in her ear. "I love you, my dearest Maddison."
Maddie had there and then, her alarm system on. 'What's going on?' She thought looking at the Doctor. Then she whispered back, feeling uneasy. "I love you too, Doctor, but tell me what's going on?!" She asked. "Please?" Worst of is that she couldn't feel him, but she didn't know why.
"I need you with me, today of all days, I need it the most." He told her seriously.
Maddie looked more uneasy, but also confused. "What do you mean?!" She asked.
Before he could reply, there stopped a bus and Amy and Rory stepped out. "Thanks!" Amy shouted to the bus driver.
"You're very welcome." He said as then he closed the doors and drove away.
"This is it, yeah? The right place?" Amy asked around.
"Nowhere, middle of?" Rory replied. "Yeah, this it."
"Howdy." The Doctor said as they turned around to see him and Maddie there.
"Doctor!" Amy shouted happily.
"Ha, ha! It's the Pond." Doctor looked very happy to her and Rory.
"Hey!" The Doctor had pulled her into a hug.
"Hello, Pond. Come here." He said to her.
"So, someone's been a busy boy then, eh?" Amy asked as Maddie looked confused.
"Seen him, where?" She asked her.
"Did you see me?" He ignored Maddie.
"Of course." Amy nodded to him.
"Where did you see him?" She asked louder.
"Tv." Amy replied quickly.
"Stalker." The Doctor comment.
"Flirt." Amy comment back.
"Husband." Rory huffed.
"Girlfriend." Maddie rolled with her eyes.
"Rory the Roman! Ooo, come here." The Doctor pulled Rory into a hug.
"Hey, nice hat." Rory comment on his head.
"I wear a Stetson now. Stetsons are cool." The Doctor said happily as then someone shoots it off him, they turned to look at who it was, it was River Song.
"Hello, sweetie." She greeted him.
~00~
They were sitting in a diner, comparing their diaries as River asked to the Doctor. "Right then, where are we? Have we done Easter Island yet?"
"Er, yes!" The Doctor found it. "I've got Easter Island."
"They worshipped you there." River smiled at him. "Have you seen the statues?"
"Jim the fish." The Doctor replied to her.
"Oh! Jim the fish." River asked to him. "How is he?"
"Still building his dam." The Doctor replied to her.
"Sorry, what are you two doing?" Rory looked confused.
"They are syncing their diaries, cause they never meet in the right order." Maddie replied to him as she took a sup from her milkshake.
"So, what's happening, then?" Amy looked at the Doctor. "Because you've been up to something."
"I've been running, faster than I've ever run." The Doctor told them all. "And I've been running my whole life. Now, it's time for me to stop. And tonight, I'm going to need you all with me."
"What's going on?" Maddie asked suspicions. "And where?"
"Okay." Amy looked suspicions as well. "We're here. What's up?"
"A picnic." The Doctor replied to her. "And then a trip. Somewhere different, somewhere brand new."
"Where?" Amy asked to him.
"Space, 1969." The Doctor replied to her.
~00~
Sometime later, they were all sitting around the picnic, drinking wine and eating sandwiches as the Doctor said out loud. "Salud!" Others followed his suite. "Salud."
"So, when are going to 1969?" Rory asked to the Doctor.
"And since when do you drink wine?" Amy added.
"I'm 1103. I must've drunk it sometime." The Doctor replied to her as he took a sip from the bottle and spits it out. "Oh, why it's horrid. I thought it would taste more like the gums."
"Then, why do you drink it?" Maddie asked to him as she took a sip from the wine herself as the Doctor just shrugged at her.
"1103." Amy looked at him. "You were 908 the last time we saw you."
"And you've put on a couple of pounds. I wasn't going to mention it." The Doctor replied to her, rudely.
Amy looked in the landscape as she saw something. "Who's that?"
"Who's who?" Rory asked to his wife.
"Sorry, what?" Amy asked confused as she looked at her husband.
"What did you see?" Rory looked at her. "You said you saw someone."
"No, I didn't." Amy replied to him, sounding confused.
"Yeah, you did." Maddie muttered.
"Ah! The moon, look at it!" The Doctor wanted to avoid any more questions. "Of course, you lot did more than look, didn't you? Big silvery thing in the sky, you couldn't resist it. Quite right. The moon landing was in '69."
"Is that where we're going?" Rory asked to him.
"Oh, a lot more happens in '69 than anyone remembers." The Doctor replied to him. "Human beings I thought I'd never get done saving you."
Just then a car rolled up behind them. They all looked back as the Doctor stood up as then an old man stepped out of the car. The old man lifted his hand up in greeting as he waved back, before slowly lowering his arm once more, looking resigned and tired.
"Who's he?" Amy asked.
"I would like to know that as well." Maddie comment, looking at the Doctor.
River and Rory stood up, looking at the lake. "Oh, my God!" River breathed, drawing their attention. Amy and Maddie stood quickly up as well as then they saw the astronaut standing there, knee deep in the water.
"You all need to stay back." The Doctor warned them. "Whatever happens now, you do not interfere. Clear?" Then the Doctor walked towards the astronaut.
"That's an astronaut." Rory whispered to Amy. "That's an Apollo astronaut in the lake."
"Yeah." Amy whispered back.
"What's really going on?" Maddie asked, frowning at the Doctor and the astronaut.
"Hello. It's… Okay, I know it's you." The Doctor looked at the astronaut as it lifted its visor. "Well then…"
Amy blinked against the sun as they watched the Doctor talked to the astronaut, then she frowned as he gestured to the astronaut's hand and looked down, he was preparing himself as the astronaut lifted its arm up. "What's he doing?" Amy asked confused.
Suddenly the astronaut shoot at the Doctor.
"Doctor!" Amy screamed as she tried to run at the Doctors side. Maddie gasped in fear, she stood there frozen.
"Amy!" River and Rory held Amy back. "Stay back!"
The astronaut shoot at the Doctor once more.
"The Doctor said stay back!" River struggled.
"No!" Amy screamed as the Doctor fell on the ground.
"You have to stay back!" River told to her.
They watched helpless as the Doctor stumbled to his feet, his hands glowing gold-orange, he was regenerating.
"No!" Amy called. "Doctor!"
He could only look at them. "I'm sorry." He told them as then he face began to glow as well. He threw his arms out to the side, the regeneration taking hold. When the astronaut shoot him again. The gold-orange light immediately faded as he fell on the ground, unmoving.
"No!" This time it was River, who shouted as she ran towards him.
"Doctor!" Amy followed as then Rory and Maddie also ran towards them as the astronaut turned and walked back into the lake. "Doctor, please!" Amy begged as she dropped to her knees beside him. Rory leapt over him, watching as the astronaut left before turning to the girls. Then River crouched beside Amy, holding a small device the monitor the Doctor. "River." She begged the older woman. "River!" There was a flat-line sound. Amy looked at River, who just looked stunned. "River."
Then River stood up putting the small device away as then she pulled out her pistol and shoot at the astronaut, but there was no use as there was no damage on the astronaut, her bullets ran out as she muttered to herself. "Of course not."
Maddie was lost for words, but had tears in her eyes as an older man walked closer to them with gasoline in his hand as Amy wept over the Doctor. "River, he can't be dead. This is impossible."
"Whatever that was, it killed him in the middle of his regeneration cycle." River remarked, crouched down. "His body was already dead. He didn't make it to the next one."
"Maybe he's a clone or a duplicate or something." Amy suggested to them.
"I believe I can save you some time." The older man spoke to them, taking his hit off. "That most certainly is the Doctor, and he is most certainly dead." He gestured at the gasoline. "He said you'd need this."
"Gasoline?" Rory asked confused.
"A Time Lord's body is a miracle." River remarked to them. "Even a dead one." Then she sighed. "There are whole empires out there who'd rip this world apart for just one cell." Then she stood up. "We can't leave him here. Or anywhere."
"Wake up!" Amy begged. "Go on, wake up, you stupid bloody idiot!" There was no reply from him as she put her head on his chest and cried. "What do we do, Rory?"
Instead River replied to her. "We're his friends. We do what the Doctor's friends always do." she picked up the gasoline. "As we're told."
"There's a boat." Rory told to them as then he spotted a boat nearby. "If we're going to do this let's do it properly."
~00~
They stood that night, watching as the Doctor body drifted out into the lake, the boat slowly engulfed in flames. Rory stood into his knees, in the water from where he had pushed the boat off, paying his respects to the man. The others were standing on the shore, Amy was hugging herself as she watched her friend burn. River stood a little farther back with Maddie next to her, tears in her eyes, she wasn't said a word since the Doctor's death. Then Rory turned and walked out of the water, over to Amy as then staring at each other as then River asked to the older man. "Who are you? Why did you come?"
"Same reason as you. Dr. Song, Amy, Rory, Maddie." The older man replied to her, pulled out his own blue envelope for River to see. The others watched as River pulled hers out, held it beside it with the man's envelope, scarcely believing it. "I'm Canton Everett Delaware III. I won't be seeing you again. But you'll be seeing me." He put back his hat on as then he grabbed his gasoline that was now empty, with him as he walked back to his car and drove away from there.
"Five." River thought out loud.
"Sorry, what?" Rory shook his head.
"The Doctor numbered the envelopes." River replied to him.
~00~
They were all back in the diner booth as River thought out loud. "You got four, Maddie got number two, I was three, Mr. Delaware was five." They figured that Maddie was two, cause she was still quiet, about what just had happened. She just wanted to go to her bed and cry and cry it all out.
"So?" Rory was still not following what River just meant.
"So where's one?" River asked to him.
"You think he invited someone else?" Rory continued as they walked past Amy and Maddie, they stood by a booth that they were sitting hours ago.
"Well, he must have. He planned all of this to the last detail." River replied to him.
"Will you shut up?" Amy told to them as they seem not listening to her. "It doesn't matter." Then she went to her friend, Maddie, who needed a hug.
"He was up to something." River told to Rory.
"He's dead." Amy added, looking at them.
"Space 1969, what did he mean?" Rory asked to River.
"You're still talking, but it doesn't matter." Amy said louder this time.
"Hey, it mattered to him." Rory told to Amy as he walked closer to her.
"So it matters to us." River added.
"He's dead." Amy whispered as if she didn't want to say it out loud.
"But he still needs us." River argued. "I know." She glanced at Maddie. "Amy, Maddie I know. But right now we have to focus."
"Look." Rory exclaimed as he saw a TARDIS blue envelope laying on the table. Then he walked over to the Bartender as he asked to him. "Excuse me, who was sitting over there?"
"Some guy." The bartender just shrugged.
River walked over to the table. "The Doctor knew he was going to his death, so he sent out messages." She held up the envelope. "When you know it's the end, who do you call?"
"Your friends, people you trust." Rory replied to her.
"Number one." River looked at them. "Who did the Doctor trust the most?" As then the door opened and the Doctor stepped out of it, the door had a large Elvis on it. Then they turned to look at him in shock. "This is cold." River stared at him. "Even by your standards, this is cold."
"Or, "Hello," as people used to say." The Doctor grinned.
"Doctor?" Amy breathed.
"What the hell?" Maddie looked angry, but she could feel him know, not earlier, when he died.
"I just popped out to get my special straw." The Doctor held up a straw. "It adds more fizz."
"You're okay." Amy whispered. "How can you be okay?"
"Of course I'm okay, I'm always okay, I'm the king of okay." The Doctor hugged her. "Oh, that's a rubbish title, forget that title." Then he went over to Rory. "Rory the Roman, that's a good title. Hello, Rory!" Then he went over to River. "And Dr. River Song. Oh, you bad, bad girl, what trouble have you got for me this time?" Then River slapped him hard as he spun around a bit, rubbing his jaw. Then he looked at her. "Okay. I'm assuming that's for something I haven't done yet."
"Yes, it is." River told him, tensely.
"Good, looking forward to it." The Doctor looked at her, then he went over to Maddie, who just stared at him, angry. "Maddie, what's wrong? Why are you looking angry?"
Then Maddie slapped him as well. "Idiot." She hissed at him.
"I don't understand." Rory suddenly told to the Doctor, making him looking at him. "How can you be here?"
"I was invited." The Doctor grabbed the envelope from River. "Date, map reference. Same as you lot, I assume, otherwise it's a hell of a coincidence."
"River, what's going on?" Amy asked to River.
"Amy, ask him what age he is." River told her gently.
"That's a bit personal." The Doctor put the straw into his mouth.
"Tell her what age you are." River insisted.
"909." The Doctor answered pulling the straw out of his mouth.
"But you said…" Amy was interrupted.
"So where does that leave us?" River asked to the Doctor. "Jim the Fish? Have we done Jim the Fish yet?"
"Who's Jim the Fish?" The Doctor asked confused.
"I don't understand." Amy looked confused.
"Yeah, you do." Rory walked over to her.
"I don't!" The Doctor looked still confused. "What are we all doing here?"
"We've been recruited." River replied to him. "Something to do with space, 1969, and a man called Canton Everett Delaware III."
"Recruited by who?" The Doctor asked to her.
"Someone who trusts you more than anybody else in the universe." River looked at him.
"And who's that?" The Doctor asked. "Maddie?"
"Spoilers." River said to him.
The Doctor look annoyed at that, he really began to hate that word.
~00~
The Doctor was jumping around the console as he told to them. "1969, that's an easy one! Funny, how some years are easy. Now, 1482, full of glitches. Now then, Canton Everett Delaware the third. That was his name, yeah? How many of those can there be?" First Maddie and Amy went down stairs, under the console. "Well, three, I suppose." Second, River followed the others as then the doctor looked confused at Rory. "Rory, is everybody cross with me for some reason?"
"I'll find out." Rory replied to him as the went down the stairs as well, under the console.
~00~
When Rory arrived there, he heard Amy saying. "Explain it again." She looked at River, she sat on the ground next to Maddie, who looked confused more than ever and that's saying something.
Rory stood at the end of the stairs as River explained. "The Doctor we saw on the beach is a future version, two hundred years older than the one up there."
"But all that's still going to happen." Amy countered. "He's still going to die."
"Don't remind me." Maddie muttered. "Please."
"We're all going to do that, Amy." River reminded her.
"We're not all going to arrange our own wake and invite ourselves." Rory looked at them. "So, the Doctor, in the future, knowing he's going to die, recruits his younger self and all of us to, to what, exactly?" Then he asked/suggested them. "Avenge him?"
"Uh huh." River shook her head. "Avenging's not his style."
"Save him." Amy suggested.
"Not his style either." Maddie comment, angry.
"We have to tell him." Amy stood up and looked at all of them.
"We've told him all we can." River shook her head. "We can't even tell him we've seen his future self. He's interacted with his own past. It could rip a hole in the universe."
"Yes, but he's done it before." Amy told them.
"And in fairness, the universe did blow up." Rory added.
"But he'd want to know." Amy shook her head.
"Would he? Would anyone?" River looked at them.
"I wouldn't." Maddie shook her head. "I don't want to know, when I would die, neither do I want to know about my father's. I think that nobody wants to know, even you, Amy."
Amy went silent after that as then the Doctor popped with head, commenting. "I'm being extremely clever up here, and there's no one to stand around looking impressed! What's the point in having you all?"
"Couldn't you just slap him sometimes?" River comment, looking at them.
"Yeah, me too." Maddie sighed.
"River, Maddie, we can't just let him die." Amy looked at them. "We have to stop it. How can you be okay with this?"
"The Doctor's death doesn't frighten me." River told her, seriously. "Nor does my own. There's a far worse day coming for me."
"We can't stop this, We can't tell him." Maddie looked at her. "We really can't, sorry." With that Maddie walked past Rory up the stairs.
The others followed her as they heard the Doctor saying. "Time isn't a straight line. It's all bumpy wumpy. There's loads of boring stuff like Sundays and Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons. But now and then there are Saturdays." He looked at them as he continued talking. "Big temporal tipping points when anything's possible. The Tardis can't resist them, like a moth to a flame. She loves a party, so I give her 1969 and NASA, because that's space in the sixties, and Canton Everett Delaware the third, and this is where she's pointing."
"Washington D.C., April the eighth, 1969." Amy looked at the screen. "So why haven't we landed?"
"Because that's not where we're going." The Doctor replied to her.
Then Rory looked at him, asking. "Oh. Where are we going?"
"Home. Well, you two are. Off you pop and make babies." He looked at the Ponds as then he looked at River. "And you, Doctor Song, back to prison. And you go off to your father, there's still a day or two left of the vacation." Then he looked at Maddie. "And me? I'm late for a biplane lesson in 1911. Or it could be knitting. Knitting or biplanes. One or the other." Then he sat down in his chair as he looked at them all. "What? A mysterious summons. You think I'm just going to go? Who sent those messages? I know you know. I can see it in your faces. Don't play games with me. Don't ever, ever think you're capable of that."
"You're going to have to trust us this time." River replied to him.
"Trust you?" The Doctor scoffed. "Sure. But, first of all, Doctor Song, just one thing. Who are you? You're someone from my future. Getting that. But who? Okay. Why are you in prison? Who did you kill, hmm? Now, I love a bad girl, me, but trust you? Seriously."
"Trust me." Amy told him.
"And me." Maddie added.
Then the Doctor walked towards them. "Okay."
"You have to do this, and you can't ask why." Amy told him.
"Cause, it's for your own good that you're not asking questions." Maddie added.
"Are you being threatened? Is someone making you say that?" He looked at the girls.
"No." Amy shook her head.
Maddie also shook her head. "No, Doctor."
"You're lying." The Doctor looked at them.
"No." Maddie shook her head.
"We aren't lying." Amy looked at him in the eye.
"Swear to me." He told them, seriously. "Swear to me on something that matters."
Amy had a small smile on her face. "Fish fingers and custard."
"The day we first met." Maddie told him seriously. "Do you remember? We touched hands as there was a bond formed, the soulmate bond as we humans called it."
"My life in your hands, Amelia Pond, Maddison Turner." The Doctor told them seriously.
"Thank you." River looked whispered, looking at Amy and Maddie, who nodded back.
The Doctor went back to his cheering self as he told them. "So! Canton Everett Delaware the third. Who's he?"
"Ex FBI. Got kicked out." River read from the screen.
"Why?" The Doctor asked to her.
"Six weeks after he left the Bureau, the President contacted him for a private meeting." She replied to him.
"Yeah, 1969. Who's President?"
"Richard Milhous Nixon. Vietnam, Watergate. There's some good stuff, too."
"Not enough."
"Hippie!"
"Archaeologist."
Maddie laughed at that, at how childish they were.
~00~
The Doctor was busy to set the coordinates right as he jumped around the console, when he was finished, he told them all. "Okay, since I don't know what I'm getting into this time, for once I'm being discreet. I'm putting the engines on silent." He pulled a lever and there is a wail as River throws a different switch and it goes quiet. "Did you do something?" He looked at River and Maddie, since they are the only ones who can drive the TARDIS as well.
"No, just watching." River replied to him.
"Nope." Maddie shook her head.
"Putting the outer shield on invisible. I haven't done this in a while. Big drain on the power." He jumped around the console.
"You can turn the Tardis invisible?" Rory asked to him, confused.
"Ha!" He pulled another lever.
Then River pulled it back. "Very nearly." And she moved another lever.
"Er, did you touch something?" The Doctor asked to the girls, meaning River and Maddie.
"Just admiring your skills, sweetie." River smiled innocent at him.
"Yeah me too." Maddie nodded as then she whispered to River. "You can better drive the Tardis than him. You should me learning it, not the Doctor."
"Maybe I should." She comment/ whispered back.
"Good. You might learn something. Okay. Now I can't check the scanner. It doesn't work when we're cloaked. Just give us a mo." The Doctor landed the TARDIS as he wanted to walk out as the others followed him, but stopped them. "Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa. You lot, wait a moment. We're in the middle of the most powerful city in the most powerful country on Earth. Let's take it slow." Then the Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS.
~00~
Nixon and Canton are listening to the recording as the Doctor went quietly to them, listening. "Hello? Who is this? This is President Nixon. Who's calling? Is this you again?"
"Mister President?"
"A child." Canton comment.
"This is the President, yes."
"I'm scared, Mister President. I'm scared of the spaceman."
"A little girl?" Canton asked to him.
"Boy." Nixon replied to him.
"How can you be sure?" Canton asked as then the record went further.
"What spaceman? Where are you phoning from? Where are you right now? Who are you?" Then the Doctor quietly gets out a notebook and starts writing.
"Jefferson Adams Hamilton."
"Jefferson, listen to me." The child rings off.
"Surely this is something the Bureau could handle, sir." Canton told him.
"These calls happen wherever I am." Nixon told him seriously. "How do I know the Bureau isn't involved? I can't trust anyone…" Then he turned around and saw the Doctor as then Canton stood up and turned, too.
The Doctor was just too busy with writing as then he felt as if someone was looking at him, he looked up and to them. "Oh. Hello. Bad moment. Oh look, this is the Oval Office. I was looking for the er, oblong room. I'll just be off, then, shall I?" And walked smack into the cloaked TARDIS, causing a big jolt inside.
~00~
"Every time." River muttered as she grabbed the scanner.
~00~
"Don't worry! It always does that when its cloaked." The Doctor told them as Canton wrestled the Doctor to the floor. "Ah, no. Stop that."
~00~
"He said the scanner wouldn't work." Rory looked at River.
"I know. Bless." River told him as then she looked at Maddie. "Gonna help me?"
Maddie nodded. "Yeah."
~00~
The Secret Service run in as one of them shouted. "Lockdown! Lockdown!"
"Stop that!" The Doctor shouted to them as he was held back, from getting to the TARDIS. "Argh! Oh!" Then he glanced at the TARDIS. "River, have you got my scanner working yet?"
~00~
"Oh, I hate him." River muttered.
"Oh, you don't." Maddie comment to her.
~00~
"No, you don't!" The Doctor shouted to the TARDIS.
"Get the President out of here." A guard ordered to another. "Sir, you have to go with them, now."
"River, make her blue again!" The Doctor shouted as then the TARDIS turned into visible for others to see also.
"What the hell is that?" Nixon asked in shock.
While they were distracted, the Doctor has slipped out of their grasp and into Nixon's chair. "Mister President, that child just told you everything you need to know, but you weren't listening. Never mind, though, because the answer's yes. I'll take the case." The guard had their guns pointed to him. "Fellows, the guns, really? I just walked into the highest security office in the United States and parked a big blue box on the rug. Do you think you can just shoot me?"
"They're Americans!" River shouted with hands up as she walked out of the TARDIS.
"Or course they will shoot at us." Maddie shouted with hands up, walking out of the TARDIS also.
"Don't shoot." The Doctor told them seriously. "Definitely no shooting."
"Nobody shoot us either." Rory told them all as he and Amy walked also of the TARDIS. "Very much not in need of getting shot." They had also their hands up. "Look, we've got our hands up."
"Who the hell are you?" Nixon asked to them.
"Sir, you need to stay back." Canton warned them.
"But who are they and what is that box?" He asked confused.
"It's a police box." The Doctor told them smugly. "Can't you read? I'm your new undercover agent on loan from Scotland Yard and my partner Mads." Then he pointed at himself. "Code name the Doctor." Then he pointed at Amy, Rory and River. "These are my top operatives, the Legs, the Nose, and Mrs. Robinson."
"I hate you." River shook her head.
"No, you don't." He told her.
"Who are you?" Nixon asked to them.
"Nah, boring question." The Doctor waved it off. "Who's phoning you? That's interesting. Because Canton Three is right. That was definitely a girl's voice, which means there's only one place in America she can be phoning from."
"Where?" Canton asked him.
"Do not engage with the intruder, Mister Delaware." A guard warned him.
"You heard everything I heard." The Doctor told them all. "It's simple enough. Give us five minutes, then we'll explain."
Maddie added to them as she dared to walk to the Doctor. "On the other hand, lay a finger on me, my partner or my friends, and you'll never know."
"How did you get it in here?" Canton looked at the Doctor. "I mean, you didn't carry it in."
"Clever, eh?" The Doctor comment at him.
"Love it." Canton comment back.
"Do not compliment the intruder." A guard warned again.
"Five minutes?" Canton held his hand up with five fingers.
"Five." The Doctor nodded to him.
"Mister President, that man is a clear and present danger to…" A guard was interrupted by Canton.
"Mister President, that man walked in here with a big blue box and three of his friends, and that's the man he walked past." He looked at Nixon. "One of them's worth listening to. I say we give him five minutes. See if he and his partner delivers."
"Thanks, Canton." The Doctor told him, happily.
"Wait for it." Maddie muttered.
"If he and his partner doesn't, I'll shoot them myself." Canton added.
"Not so thanks." The Doctor said with an angry hint in his voice.
"Sir, I cannot recommend…" The same guard was interrupted again and this time by the President.
"Shut up, Peterson!" Nixon snapped at him. "All right, five minutes."
"I'm going to need a SWAT team, ready to mobilize." The Doctor ordered them. "Street level maps covering all of Florida. A pot of coffee, twelve Jammie Dodgers and a fez."
"Get him his maps." Canton ordered only for the maps.
~00~
Sometime later, they were still looking on the maps. Florida maps as then Canton asked. "Why Florida?"
"There's where NASA is. She mentioned a spaceman." Maddie replied to him.
"NASA's where the spacemen live." The Doctor added. "Also, there's another lead I'm following."
"A spaceman, like the one we saw at the lake." Amy muttered to River.
"Maybe. Probably." River muttered back.
Just then Amy saw a figure in a suit at the open door. It has a large head with sunken eyes and no mouth, and very long fingers. She recalls the sighting at the lake. "I remember." She muttered.
Then Rory stood before her. "Amy? What do you remember?"
Then the figure was gone as Amy replied to him. "I don't know. I just…" Then she went nauseous.
"Amy, what's wrong?" Rory asked worried.
River came to them as she asked worried. "Amy?"
Then Maddie came to them as well and asked. "What's wrong?"
Seconds later, the Doctor came to them as well. "Are you all right?"
"Yeah. No, I'm fine." Amy replied to them. "I'm just feeling a little sick." Then she walked to the guards. "Excuse me, is there a toilet or something?"
"Sorry, ma'am, while this procedure's ongoing, you must remain within the Oval office." The guard replied to her.
"Shut up and take her to the restroom." Canton looked at the guards.
"This way, ma'am." One of them told her.
"Thanks." Amy nodded at then she leaves, but another guard stopped Rory from following.
Then Canton looked at the Doctor. "Your five minutes are up."
"Yeah, and where's my fez?" The Doctor looked up.
~00~
Moments later, the phone rings as Canton asked. "The kid?"
"Should I answer it?" Nixon asked, looking at the Doctor and canton.
"Here!" The Doctor exclaimed, looking at the map. "The only place in the United States that call could be coming from. See? Obvious, when you think about it."
Then, Amy and the guard return to them as Canton looked at the Doctor. "You, sir, are a genius."
"It's a hobby." The Doctor shrugged, smiling at him.
"Don't feed his ego." Maddie comment.
"Mister President, answer the phone." Canton pointed at the phone.
Nixon nodded as he pressed a button and answered the phone. "Hello. This is President Nixon."
"It's here!" The little girl cried over the phone. "The spaceman's here! It's going to get me! It's going to eat me!"
"Oh, god." Maddie run towards the TARDIS.
Soon followed by the Doctor as he told them all. "There's no time for a SWAT team. Let's go. Mister President, tell her help's on the way. Canton, on no account follow me into this box and close the door behind you." Then, Amy, Rory and River followed him into the TARDIS.
"What the hell are you doing?" Canton asked as he runs into the TARDIS behind Rory, Amy, River and the Doctor. It dematerialized.
The girl on the phone cried again. "Mister President, please help. Please help me!"
"Jefferson, it's all right." Nixon told her, he didn't know that it was a girl. "I'm sending my best people."
~00~
Inside of the TARDIS, Canton stopped and looked around him, he was in shock. The Doctor and River were settings the coordinates as Maddie and Amy watched them, Maddie wanted to learn more as she really look good at them. Rory stood by the door with Canton. "Jefferson isn't a girl's name." The Doctor told them. "It's not her name either. Jefferson, Adams, Hamilton. River."
"Surnames of three of America's founding fathers." River told him.
"Lovely fellows. Two of them fancied me." The Doctor smiled at the thought as then he glanced at Maddie, who raised an eyebrow at him. "It was a long time ago, love."
"Really?!" Maddie told him sarcastically. "It was like a second ago."
"Sarcasm." The Doctor exclaimed to her as then she just laughed at him.
Then Rory asked to Canton. "Are you okay? Coping?"
"You see, the President asked the child two questions." The Doctor talked ones more. "Where are you and who are you? She was answering where."
"It's bigger on the inside." Canton replied to Rory.
"Yeah, you get used to it." He nodded to him.
"Now, where would you find three big, historical names in a row like that?" The Doctor asked them.
Amy looked at him, asking. "Where?"
"Here." They landed as then the Doctor called. "Come on."
"It's er…" Canton stuttered.
The Doctor looked at Rory. "Are you taking care of this?" Then he, Maddie and River walked out of the TARDIS.
"Why is it always my turn?" Rory asked.
"Because you're the newest." Amy replied to him as she kissed his cheek and went out of the TARDIS. Then she looked around her. "Where are we?"
"In a warehouse." Maddie pulled a 'duh' face to her.
"Maddie, rude." The Doctor looked at her as then he looked at Amy and replied to her. "About five miles from Cape Kennedy Space Centre." Then the Doctor sat down on a chair. "It's 1969, the year of the moon. Interesting, don't you think?"
Maddie walked towards the Doctor and went to sit down on his lap. 'This whole thing has me drained my energy, sorry I'm being cranky.' She thought to the Doctor.
'No need to be sorry, love. I understand.' The Doctor thought back to her.
'Alright, sweetie.' Maddie smiled at him.
'You sound like River.' The Doctor looked at her.
Maddie sighed. 'Ruined the moment, sweetie.' The Doctor rolled with eyes as he had a small smile on his face.
Then Amy looked at them. "But why would a little girl be here?"
"I don't know. Lost me a bit." The Doctor replied to her. "The President asked the girl where she was, and she did what any lost little girl would do." Maddie pulled the curtains aside. "She looked out of the window." Where the street sign points to Hamilton Av, Jefferson St and Adams St.
"Streets." Amy looked at them. "Of course, street names."
"The only place in Florida, probably all of America, with those three street names on the same junction." The Doctor told them all as then he looked at River. "And Doctor Song, you've got that face on again."
River smiled at him. "What face?"
"The he's hot when he's clever face." The Doctor replied to her.
"This is my normal face." She told him. "Besides, Maddie even worse than me, just look at her."
Then Maddie blushed. "Shut it."
"Yes, it is." The Doctor agreed with River.
"Oh, shut up." Maddie muttered to him.
"Not a chance." He muttered back to her as she kissed him, to shut him up.
Then Rory finally gets Canton out of the Tardis as Canton looked around him. "We've moved. How, how can we have moved?"
Maddie and the Doctor stood up as he asked to Rory. "You haven't even got to space travel yet?"
"I was going to cover it with time travel." Rory hissed at him.
Canton blinked. "Time travel."
"Brave heart, Canton." The Doctor told them. "Come on." Then they walked further into the warehouse.
"So we're in a box that's bigger on the inside, and it travels through time and space." Canton reviewed.
Rory nodded. "Yeah, basically."
"How long have Scotland Yard had this?" Canton asked confused as Rory just shrugged and they walked behind the others.
~00~
They walked throughout the building as River asked. "It's a warehouse of some kind. Disused."
"You realize this is almost certainly a trap, of course?" He asked them.
River nodded to him. "I noticed the phone, yes."
"It is very possible." Maddie looked around her.
"What about it?" Amy asked to River.
"It was cut off." River replied to her. "So how did the child phone from here?"
"Okay, but why would anyone want to trap us?" Amy asked to them.
"Let's see if anyone tries to kill us and work backwards." The Doctor replied to her.
"Dump plan." Maddie hissed to him.
Then River asked to them, not wanting them to argue know. "Now, why would a little girl be here?"
"I don't know." The Doctor replied to her. "Let's find her and ask her."
Maddie face palmed as they come across some technology. River told them. "It's nonterrestrial. Definitely alien. Probably not even from this time zone."
"Which is odd, because look at this!" The Doctor went into a little child mode as they came across a crate of spacesuits.
"Sometimes you are a little child, Doctor." Maddie comment to him as the he just smiled at her and went to look at the spacesuits.
River looked at it. "It's earth tech. It's contemporary."
"It's very contemporary." The Doctor nodded to her. "Cutting edge. This is from the space program."
"Stolen?" River asked.
"I think so." Maddie replied to her.
Amy looked confused. "What, by aliens?"
"Apparently." The Doctor replied to her.
"But why?" Amy was very confused. "I mean, if you can make it all the way to Earth, why steal technology that can barely make it to the moon?"
"Maybe because it's cooler?" The Doctor suggested as he put on the helmet and lifted its visor up. "Look how cool this stuff is."
"Cool aliens?" Amy asked, crossing her arms.
"Well, what would you call me?" The Doctor asked to her.
"An alien." Amy deadpanned.
"Oi!" The Doctor put off the helmet.
then Rory and Canton came to them. "I, er, I think he's okay now." Rory told to the Doctor.
The Doctor walked over to Canton as he put his hand on his shoulder. "Ah, back with us, Canton?"
"Like your wheels." He comment, looking up.
"That's my boy!" The Doctor grinned as he walked past him. "So come on, little girl, let's find her."
Then they spread out to look in the building further as Maddie suddenly told the Doctor. "Don't ever leave me."
Then the Doctor stopped what he was doing and looked at Maddie. "What you mean?" He asked confused.
"Just promise me, that you won't ever leave me." She looked at him.
He walked towards her. "Of course I promise that, Maddie." As then he hugged her. "Why this sudden thought?"
Maddie was scared and he felt it. "Just that I don't want to leave like dad would, one day."
"You know I won't." The Doctor told her, seriously.
Maddie nodded to him. "Okay."
"If there something wrong, you would tell me?" The Doctor looked at her.
Again, Maddie nodded to him. "I would, Doctor." She smiled at him as then they kissed.
Just then River called them. "Doctor! Maddie! Look at this." They came quickly over to her.
"So where does that go?" The Doctor wondered as he looked at the man-hole.
"There's a network of tunnels running under here." River read from her scanner.
"Life signs?" He asked to her.
"No, nothing that's showing up." River looked on her scanner.
"Those are the worst kind." The Doctor told her as then she started climbing down. "Be careful."
"Careful?" She looked up with a smirk on her face. "Tried that once, ever so dull."
"Shout if you get in trouble." The Doctor ordered her lightly.
"Don't worry, Maddie is quite the screamer, from what I have heard." She responded, sending the Doctor and Maddie a wink. "Now there's a spoiler for you!" Then she called out from halfway down.
"Little tease." Maddie comment as then she blushed. Then she noticed that the Doctor was blushing as well.
"So what's going on here?" Canton asked, looking confused.
Then the Doctor turned around. "Nothing." He was very confused. "She's just a friend."
"I think he's talking about the possible alien incursion." Rory pointed it out.
"Okay." The Doctor chirped in a slight embarrassment as then he moved on as if nothing had happened.
~00~
Canton was looking at some sort of liquid in a jar that stood on the table across from where Amy was doing the same. The Doctor, Rory and Maddie were scattered around, each looking at the area as well. Then Canton spoke up. "So, I was in a bar having a drink. Tell me honestly, am I still there?"
"Fraid not." Amy replied to him.
Just then River came up as she shouted. "All clear. Just tunnels, nothing down there I can see. Er, give me five minutes, I want to take another look round."
"Stupidly dangerous." The Doctor called after her.
"Yep, I like it too." River told him as then she looked at Amy. "Amy, look after him." Then she went down the man-hole again.
"Rory, would you mind going with her?" The Doctor asked in concern.
"Yeah, a bit." Rory scoffed.
"Then I appreciate it all the more." He insisted.
Rory made his way to the man-hole as he called to River. "Hang on, River, I'm coming too."
~00~
Canton held up a wire as then Amy came over to him. "So, you were kicked out of the FBI cos you had attitude problems."
"No." He looked up at her. "I just wanted to get married."
"Is that a crime?" Amy asked to him.
"Yes." Canton replied as then he glanced at the Doctor and Maddie, who were looking through stuff. "Doctor who, exactly?"
"That's classified." Amy replied to him.
"Classified by who?" Canton looked confused.
"God knows." Amy rolled with her eyes.
"But you work for him." Canton stated.
"He's my friend. If "friend" is the right word." Amy replied hesitated as then she looked with a fond smile on her face. "I haven't seen him in a while. I had something I wanted to tell him, but stuff always gets in the way."
"Stuff does that." Canton agreed with her.
Suddenly they hear a little girl shouting. "Help me! Help! Help me!"
"It's her!" Canton pulled out his pistol as then he went after the sound.
Then suddenly Amy grabbed her stomach as then the Doctor went to her as asked. "Amy? What's wrong?"
Maddie also then over to her and the Doctor. "What's wrong?"
"I need to tell you something!" Amy replied to the Doctor. "It's important. It's really, really important."
"Doctor!" Canton shouted. "Quickly!"
"What, now?" The Doctor asked rudely as then they went after Canton. They ran to a corner, the Doctor motioning for them to be quiet before he rushed around it, his sonic out. "Canton!" He shouted, spotting the man knocked out on the ground, he ran over to him as Amy and Maddie followed him. "Canton, are you okay?"
"Is he all right?" Maddie asked concerned.
The Doctor soniced the man. "Just unconscious." He replied to her. "Got a proper whack though."
"Doctor, I need to tell you something." Amy began. "I have to tell you it now!"
"Not a great moment, Amy." The Doctor told her rudely.
"Rude." Maddie muttered as the Doctor didn't hear her.
"No, it's important, it has to be now!" She insisted.
"Help!" The little girl shouted as they tried to spot her, but then Amy crouched before the Doctor. "Help me! Help me!"
"Doctor." Amy took a breath. "I'm pregnant." The Doctor looked in shock, Maddie looked in shock as well, when the sound of boots stomping reached them. They looked over to see someone in a spacesuit walking in. The Doctor stood up as Amy breathed out. "That's it. The astronaut!"
"Amy don't do something stupid!" Maddie shouted to her friend, the Doctor looked confused by that.
"Help me!" The little girl cried, raising her hand to them.
"Get down!" Amy shouted.
The Doctor turned to see her grabbing the pistol that was fallen. "What are you doing?"
"Saving your life!" She shouted as she stood up and shoot at the spacesuit.
"No!" The Doctor shouted to her. "AMY!"
"Amy, no." Maddie shouted to her friend as Amy screamed as the little girl stared at her, from inside the spacesuit.
