Chapter 33 Post Crimson Mirelands Part 5
After arriving at the Bogbound Camp, they find Odo and he says, "I've been waiting for you, kiddo. Let's get down to business - have a look at that Sudowoodo."
They see a Sudowoodo standing at the cliff with an unpleasant face, and Odo says, "It was looking pretty listless, so I gave it a whole feast of Berries...But even though it gobbled them up, it still seems like it has no energy at all. Isn't that odd?"
"Very odd." Ash says.
"So then I figured it must be parched. After all, it's like a plant, right? It must need to be watered. So if we could just fire off a healthy Water Pulse at it, I'm sure it'd perk up in no time!" Odo says.
"I don't think that is a good idea considering Sudowoodo is a Rock-type..." Serena mutters, but Ash already sends out Floatzel.
"All right! Get ready, Sudowoodo! All your worries are about to be washed away for good!" Odo yells as Floatzel fires the Water Pulse on Sudowoodo, causing it to quickly jumps.
"No-doooo!" Sudowoodo yells as it starts to attack with Hammer Arm, but Floatzel manages to dodge in time and lands another Water Pulse, knocking it out.
"Maybe...it doesn't like getting wet?" Odo asks.
"Sudowoodo is a Rock-type, which is weak to Water-type." Adaman says. "I see..."
"Is that it? Gosh, I guess I rained on your parade. Sorry, Sudowoodo." Odo apologizes. "And I'm sorry for making you a part of this, too. I thought I was helping, but when you get right down to it, I just didn't understand Sudowoodo. Keep working hard on that Pokedex to educate poor fools like me, would you?"
The reward is 15 Heavy Balls and 3 Exp Candies S. They walk towards the Mirelands Camp and they find a member of the Security Corps named Yojiro, and he says, "Say, you there! Could you lend me a hand? I was on my way here from the Mirelands Camp when this alpha Hippowdon came after me...I got away, but I dropped a charm I was carrying. And now I can't find it anywhere! I've just got to have it back! If you find a charm lying in a swamp, could you bring it back to me?"
"Sure, we'll look for it." Ash says as they walk inside the Scarlet Bog and find the charm. After finding it, they try to dodge the attacks from the Hippowdon, with Gastrodon's help, they manage to knock out the Hippowdon.
"You guys sure are something, taking on a big, angry Hippowdon like that!" Yojiro says, and then he notices the sparkle in Serena's hands. "Wait, is that..."
"Oh, I think this is yours." Serena hands over the charm, and Yojiro hugs it and says, "My charm! It's really you! Welcome back! It means a lot to me that you went toe to toe with that Hippowdon on my behalf. You'd better believe I won't be losing this charm again - not after you went to all that trouble to get it back to me."
He gives them 5 Iron Chunks and a Grit Gravel, and they decide not to waste time to go to the Mirelands Camp.
They find Ren from the Security Corps at the Mirelands Camp, and he says, "Captain Zisu has set me to all sorts of training, but I don't feel like I'm really improving at all...So I came here to train with my partner, Pachirisu. But I simply can't seem to figure out any winning strategy to use with Pachirisu...I've heard tales about you two, and your strengths in battle. Could I ask you to show me how a Pokemon like Pachirisu can truly shine in battle?"
"I'll do it." Serena says, "So how do we do it?"
"I want to see you battle with a single Pachirisu. No more, and no other Pokemon." Ren says. "And let's see it battle...against a mighty Ursaring."
"Sure, you'll just watch and learn." Serena says.
As Ursaring appears, Serena uses Pachirisu to battle, and Pachirisu's Thunder Wave causes it to get paralyzed, and then it goes for the Crunch to deal a lot of damage. Even though it gets hit by Ursaring's Slash, it finishes with Spark.
"Astonishing! That really was amazing! You defeated an Ursaring with a Pachirisu! And your Pachirisu was so pumped up and eager for battle, it looked like it was fearless! You directed Pachirisu with such aplomb in battle - it was clear how well you understood it!" Ren says.
"It's nothing." Serena smiles.
"I guess all the work you Survey Corps members put into learning about Pokemon does pay off. But we won't be outdone! We'll work hard to reach that same level of understanding!" Ren says as he rewards them with 3 Sitrus Berries and a Grit Gravel.
"Now that's done, the only quest left is to find Zeke's sister Wanda..." Ash says. "But then again, we should find the wisps and the Unown."
For wisps, the first wisp is located on a raised grassy platform next to a tree in the center of Cottonsedge Prairie; the second wisp is located in between three trees near the mouth of Lake Valor; the third wisp is located on top of a grassy plateau near the river southeast of Scarlet Bog; the fourth wisp is located on a small ledge near the river on the eastern side of Bolderoll Slope; the fifth wisp is located atop a large grassy mountain overlooking the river south of Gapejaw Bog.
The sixth wisp is located along the mountainside south of Cloudpool Ridge; the seventh wisp is located along the mountainside overlooking the river north of Cloudpool Ridge; the eighth wisp is located amongst the trees near a rocky ridge in the center of Cloudpool Ridge; the ninth wisp is located on the edge of the rocky mountain structure at the western entrance to Shrouded Ruins; the tenth wisp is located atop a large grassy hill near the Diamond Settlement.
The eleventh wisp is located atop a small grassy plateau in the northwestern section of Cottonsedge Prairie; the twelfth wisp is located on a grassy ledge on the mountain ridge east of Droning Meadow, alongside the edge of the Crimson Mirelands; the thirteenth wisp is located along the rocky mountains south of Ursa's Ring; the fourteenth wisp is located on a small island in the center of a lake south of Sludge Mound; the fifteenth wisp is located at the base of the mountains near the Holm of Trials at the southernmost point.
The sixteenth wisp is located in the center of a small pond west of the Holm of Trials; the seventeenth wisp is located at the base of the mountainside just south of the Golden Lowlands; the eighteenth wisp is located on top of the hills overlooking Gapejaw Bog just east of the Golden Lowlands; the nineteenth wisp is located in an open clearing near a berry tree southeast of Solaceon Ruins, and the final wisp is located on a large mountain with many flat platforms just north of Bolderoll Slope.
"So you collected 20 more wisps, which means you have 47 wisps in your Odd Keystone?" Adaman asks.
"Yeah, and for now, we need to find the Unown.
For Unown "A", the words are written, "Within the settlement where time rules." They find the said Pokemon on top of one of the huts in the Diamond Settlement. For Unown "D", the words are written, "Among stumps and campfire ashes in fields of gold." They just find the Unown in the middle of the log where they first met Miss Fortunes. For Unown "K", the words are written, "Where stones pile high amid fogbound ruins." They find the Pokemon at the Shrouded Ruins on top of one of the rock piles. For Unown "M", the words are written, "A tree felled on sludge." They go to the Sludge Mound and find the said Pokemon stuck inside the tree log. And for Unown "V", the words are written, "A withered tree on the sprawling red swamp." They go to the Scarlet Bog and find the Pokemon on top of a tree in one of the bogs.
They also have Ursaluna dig the verses in the ground, they find the first verse in the Gapejaw Bog. "Once there were two. And one looked upon time's steady pace. And one looked upon the expanse of space. And the two set out: the fullness of future did they seek, the world's far end would they greet. Two different paths— each walking alone a path their own, though they walk with almighty Sinnoh."
"Almighty Sinnoh is Arceus...huh..." Ash thinks.
The second verse is at Shrouded Ruins. "O you, who at the world's far-off end dwell, I know your wish—it is my wish as well. My own beloved is now gone from me, departed to a place I cannot reach. My old companions have left me behind, their faces faded into days gone by. Still to my breast, I clutch this hopeless dream, a futile wish for us once more to meet. O you, who at the world's far-off end dwell, I know your wish—it is my wish as well. But ours are cold and endless winter days, warmed only by memories locked away."
The ninth verse is at Sludge Mount. "I set the bones of Pokémon adrift upon the river. I let my memories flow on, adrift upon the river. And to the ocean they will flow, perhaps around the world to go. How many bones in days now gone have I now set adrift from me? How many bones in days to come will I yet set adrift to sea? While every gift with which I part takes a sliver of my heart."
The thirteenth verse is at Cottonsedge Prairie. "Sootfoot, humble root— harvest it, and peel it. Broiled, baked, or steamed will do, just let nobody steal it. Mash the root, then knead the mash, then once more heat it over— Grill it only till it browns— use Ember, not Flamethrower. Now harken well, and listen closely: the wise adore potato mochi. A day spent eating all in reach, is no day wasted, if you ask me."
"Just great, we really don't need to know more about Potato Mochi..." Serena mutters.
"But that's all the verses." Ash says, and then they looks up in the air to see something strange.
"Looks like a Space-time Distortion is forming, Ash." Serena says as she points in the direction of the Holm of Trials.
"I have never seen such a thing before..." Adaman says, "I wonder what's inside..."
"We have been in once, and it is very dangerous considering how many Pokemon are attacking inside." Ash says.
And when they get inside, they are ambushed by a lot of Pokemon, and Adaman says, "You're not joking that there are a lot of fearsome Pokemon inside this place..."
"But we will really need to fight back before they try to kill all of us." Ash says.
Just then, he is tackled by a Quilava to the ground, and Ash says, "Hey! Let go of me!"
But as he gets a closer look, he realizes that the Quilava is his own Quilava. Ash asks, "Wait, Quilava? Is that you?"
The Pokemon nods and Serena asks, "Another one of your Pokemon?"
"Yeah, I met him back in Johto, he is also a strong battler." Ash says. "Quilava, I am sorry that I haven't found you sooner, but I really need your help to stop those Pokemon from attacking us."
Quilava nods as he starts to fight against Pokemon, Ash also finds a Cyndaquil and tries to capture it.
Cyndaquil's Research Tasks: Number caught:1,2,3,4,5 Times you have seen it use Ember:1,2,4,10,15 Times you have seen it use Quick Attack:1,2,4,10,15 Times you have seen it use Flame Wheel:1,2,4,10,15 Times you've seen it use a strong style move:1,2,4,10,15 Times you've seen it use an agile style move:1,2,4,10,15 Number you've evolved:1
Hisui Dex Entry No.4 Cyndaquil: The Fire Mouse Pokemon: Fire-type. Hails from the Johto region. Though usually curled into a ball due to its timid disposition, it harbors tremendous firepower.
Quilava's Research Tasks: Number caught:1,2,3,4,5 Times you have seen it use Ember:1,2,4,10,15 Times you have seen it use Quick Attack:1,2,4,10,15 Times you have seen it use Flame Wheel:1,2,4,10,15 Times you've seen it use a strong style move:1,2,4,10,15 Times you've seen it use an agile style move:1,2,4,10,15 Number you've evolved:1,2,3
Hisui Dex Entry No.5 Quilava: The Volcano Pokemon: Fire-type. Evolve from Cyndaquil at LV:17. This creature's fur is most mysterious—it is wholly impervious to the burning touch of flame. Should Quilava turn its back to you, take heed! Such a posture indicates a forthcoming attack.
As for Serena and Adaman, they are using Leafeon and Sylveon to battle a Flareon and an Umbreon. Serena also captures them as she wants to complete their entries.
Flareon's Research Tasks: Number caught:1,2,3,4,5 Times you have seen it use Baby Doll Eyes:1,2,4,10,15 Times you have seen it use Flamethrower:1,3,8,20,40 Times you've seen it use an agile style move:1,3,10,30,70
Hisui Dex Entry No.28 Flareon: The Flame Pokemon: Fire-type. Evolved from Eevee with Fire Stone. Flames burn within a saclike organ inside this Pokémon. When Flareon inhales, these flames grow in intensity, reaching a mighty 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Umbreon's Research Tasks: Number caught:1,2,3,4,5 Times you have seen it use Baby Doll Eyes:1,2,4,10,15 Times you have seen it use Dark Pulse:1,3,8,20,40 Times you've seen it use an agile style move:1,3,10,30,70
Hisui Dex Entry No.30 Umbreon: The Moonlight Pokemon: Dark-type. Evolved from Eevee with high friendship during the night. It is most active in the wee hours of the night, when moonlight bathes the land. Its large eyes can pierce the darkness and perceive prey with absolute clarity.
"Serena! Adaman! Look over there!" Ash yells, and they notice that Ash is having Pikachu battling a Porygon, Serena asks, "Porygon? Here in this space-time distortion?"
"I have never seen a Pokemon like that before..." Adaman remarks.
"Let's say it is a Pokemon created by humans." Ash says. "But I don't know why it is here, but we're going to capture it."
Porygon's Research Tasks: Number caught:1,2,3,4,5 Number of large specimens caught:1,2,3 Times you have seen it use Tackle:1,2,4,10,15 Times you have seen it use Tri Attack:1,3,8,20,40 Number you've evolved:1,2,3
Hisui Dex Entry No.133 Porygon: The Virtual Pokemon: Normal-type. It has no discernible heartbeat and does not seem to draw breath, and yet it appears to function without issue. I cannot even begin to explain this utterly bizarre anomaly.
"It seems that there are also Up-Grades and Dubious Discs on the floor, looks like we can just grab a Porygon-Z of our own." Serena says as she picks up the items.
Porygon2's Research Tasks: Number caught:1,2,3,4,5 Times you have seen it use Thunderbolt:1,3,8,20,40 Times you have seen it use Recover:1,3,6,12,25 Number you've evolved:1,2,3
Hisui Dex Entry No.134 Porygon2: The Virtual Pokemon: Normal-type. Evolved from Porygon with Up-Grade. A bizarre item caused this Pokémon to evolve. While it now exhibits many new gestures and expressions, its biology remains inscrutable.
Porygon-Z's Research Tasks: Number caught:1,2,3,4,5 Times you have seen it use Thunderbolt:1,3,6,12,25 Times you have seen it use Recover:1,3,6,12,25 Times you have seen it use Hyper Beam:1,3,8,20,40 Times you've seen it use a strong style move:1,3,6,12,25 Times you've seen it use an agile style move:1,3,6,12,25
Hisui Dex Entry No.135 Porygon-Z: The Virtual Pokemon: Normal-type. Evolved from Porygon2 with Dubious Disc. A curious item induced this evolution. The Pokémon's offensive capabilities have greatly increased, but the strangeness of its behavior has magnified in equal measure. This worries me.
After the Space-Time Distortion ends, Adaman says, "Wow, that sure is some experience..."
"I know." Ash says, "But we still can't forget we have to find Wanda."
Serena nods as she has Ursaluna help them find her.
I'll end the chapter right here, there are only 3 more requests to go before getting back to the main story. I hope you like this chapter.
