Chapter 48 Warden Ingo
The next day has arisen, and Ash and Serena are now outside the quarters as they are doing some morning exercise. But after a while, they see a man walking towards them, and Ash recognizes the man looking the same as one of the conductors in the Unova Region.
"Good morning, good sir who came from the sky!" The man says. "Commander Kamado told me to let you know he awaits your arrival in his office."
"Okay..." Ash says with confusion as to the man leaving, Serena asks, "Ash? What's with that expression?"
"Sorry, I think I have met the man's descendants back in our world. They are the conductors of the Battle Subway in the Unova Region." Ash says.
"Is that so..." Serena says. "Then again, we met a lot of people who we know their descendants."
After getting to the office, Adaman and Irida are also there. Kamado says, "Ash and Serena! I have your next orders. You must go to the Coronet Highlands to quell another frenzied noble - Electrode, Lord of the Hollow."
"Electrode?" Ash and Serena are confused. They know for sure that Electrode looks like their Poke Balls in their own world, but they never knew that this Pokemon already exists in this timeline.
Adaman says, "Electrode has a propensity to store up electricity in its body, then unleash it. But since Electrode became frenzied, those electrical outbursts have become giant blasts."
"And we Peal Clan are going to aid in securing you safe passage to Electrode's seat." Irida says. "We-"
"N-no! You don't have permission to go up the-!" Just then, they turn around to see a man managing to get past the guard. "Oh, save it! As if I'll be stopped by the likes of you! Now, out of my way!"
The man in sight is a blue-haired man with the Diamond Clan outfit. "Hey, ho, Bossman Kamado! I thought it might've slipped your mind to send me an invite, so I took the liberty of stopping by anyway."
Adaman frowns, "Melli! Where are your manners? We're having an important conversation!"
"Well, there's your issue right here, Adaman! How exactly did you intend to discuss Electrode without me - it's mighty warden - here to weigh in?" Melli asks.
"So he is the warden of Electrode..." Ash mutters to Serena. "I don't think I like this guy." Serena replies.
"There's no more to discuss. We've already asked Ash and Serena to quell the Lord of the Hollow." Irida says to the sudden appearance.
"Shut up, you Pearl Clan leader, I'm talking to Adaman, not you." Melli says, and it causes Irida to growl in anger.
"Don't you yell at her, Melli." Adaman says to him. "She is an important guest here as well."
Irida is surprised to see that Adaman stands up for her, and Melli just chuckles and says, "Aww, come on! Is it ME you're trying to humiliate here or our entire clan? Besides, do you really think these flimsy little noodles can quell Electrode?"
"Excuse me?" Ash and Serena are now furious.
"Watch your words, you're talking about my sworn brother and his girlfriend." Adaman glares at Melli before turns to Kamado and apologizes, "Commander, I'm sincerely sorry for this heedless interruption!"
"Pay it no mind. It seems even Security Corps personnel I trained myself cannot stop one so capable as Warden Melli. That being said..."
"Yes?" Adaman asks.
"It is clear that the Security Corps needs even further rounds of training from me later." Kamado says.
"Hear that, Melli?" Adaman is frustrated. "The Security Corps will sob themselves to sleep tonight, thanks to you. The commander's sumo moves can send even boulders flying!"
Before they can argue, Kamado says, "Now, now. That will do. Ash and Serena, you have your orders. See to it that Electrode is quelled! Warden Melli, of course we would appreciate your help if there's anything you might assist with."
"Will do." Ash and Serena say in unison.
"Now go." Kamado says as they get downstairs to the first floor. "Listen, Melli. The Galaxy Team - well, at least, Ash and Serena - are amazing, and we'll prove it. Follow me outside."
As they head outside, Adaman says, "All right, Ash and Serena! Go a round with me!"
"Two on one, are you sure?" Ash asks.
"Of course. Melli, make sure you watch closely, now!" Adaman says.
Melli just wants to get this over with. Ash goes with Infernape while Serena goes with Machoke to battle Adaman's Leafeon and Eevee. Eevee puts a hard fight by going for Iron Tail at Machoke, but it is defeated by Cross Chop. As for Leafeon, it manages to deal some damage from Charm and Dig attack, but Infernape's Raging Fury manages to knock it out.
"You see how good Ash and Serena are now, yes? No more sneering at them!" Adaman turns to Melli who sighs, "Hmph!"
Irida says, "Now before my words are cut off by that man over there, I was saying that we have appointed a helper and he will be meeting you at the training grounds once you're ready."
Adaman notices Melli's face and he says, "Melli! Shift yourself, unless you want to get even more of an earful than you're already due for!"
"Aw, c' mon, Adaman! Cut me some slack here..." Melli says as he leaves.
"Ash and Serena!" Just then, Captain Cyllene arrives and she says, "Join me in the Survey Corps office. We'll go over the particulars of your new mission."
"Then we'll be waiting for you at the training grounds." Irida says as both Adaman and Irida leave while Ash and Serena get into the hall.
Inside the Galaxy Hall, Ash and Serena are standing in front of Cyllene's desk, she says, "Your survey work will take you to the Coronet Highlands next. You'll be on the rift's doorstep. There's no telling what perils await."Your current rank qualifies you to conduct research in the Coronet Highlands. But you will need help from a particular person to survey and ultimately quell this Electrode. Go to the training grounds. You should find them there."
Ash and Serena nod as they head to the training grounds, and they find Adaman and Irida with a man they just met before meeting Kamado. Irida says, "Hello Ash and Serena. This gentleman is Warden Ingo who serves Sneasler. He will guide you to her domain."
"Ingo..." Ash widens his eyes as it is the same name as one of the conductor brothers. Ingo says, "Pleased to properly meet you. I apologize for that abrupt how-do-you-do before. I am the warden Ingo. I understand you'll need a hand from Sneasler in order to meet Electrode. Whether she'll see fit to help you, however, we can only find out by making the journey. Now, let's have a safe journey to Mount Coronet! All aboard!"
"Ingo's a bit like you, you know." Irida adds.
"Like us? What do you mean?" Ash asks.
"He appeared one day from who-knows-where. What's more, much of his memory seems to be missing." Irida frowns.
"Maybe traveling with you will help fill in some of the gaps in his memory." Adaman says.
Ash gasps, which means this man Ingo might be actually from the same world as them, he makes a note to contact Lillie after. Serena turns to Ash and says, "Ash, you don't think this man here is..."
"Maybe...I was thinking of contacting Lillie for the news." Ash says.
Inside the carriage, due to the fact that Ingo, Adaman, and Irida are sharing the same carriage, Ash and Serena are now alone in another one, they use the chance to call Lillie.
"Calling so soon, Ash?" Lillie asks. "I mean, we were just arriving at Nimbasa City."
"Unova?" Ash asks, "That's great. I want to ask about the Conductor brothers in the Battle Subway."
"We just met one of them named Emmet, why?" Lillie asks.
"What about his brother Ingo?" Serena asks. "Have you met him?"
Lillie shakes her head and says, "No, he said that his brother went missing when he traveled to the Sinnoh Region, some witnesses said that his last appearance is at the Spear Pillar. Why do you ask?"
"Well, in Hisui, there are some people who are like the trial captains from Alola, and they call them the Wardens. And our next Warden is also Ingo, so I was suggesting..."
"You think that he also traveled back in time?" Lillie gasps. "What does he think?"
"He lost his memories, so we can't really confirm about that." Serena says. "But this is getting really weird..."
"Anyway, is Professor Oak with you?" Ash asks, "There is another Pokemon that I need to ask about."
"Professor Oak is still at the Aether Foundation. but I can just use my laptop to get him." Lillie replies as she quickly turns on the laptop so that they can see Professor Oak. "Well hello, Ash and Serena. What kind of Pokemon do you want to ask about?"
"How do you know we are going to ask a Pokemon? Professor?" Ash asks.
"Just a guess." Oak chuckles.
"We want to know a Pokemon called Sneasler, if you may." Serena says.
"Sneasler..." Oak says as he reads the ancient books, and he says, "Ah, Sneasler is an evolved form of the Hisuian Form of Sneasel. It is a Fighting- and Poison-type."
"But I thought that Weavile is also found in the Sinnoh Region..." Ash says. "How come there is a Hisuian Form of Sneasel?"
"Hisuian Form of Sneasel almost goes extinct because of the Johtonian Sneasel's coming into the Sinnoh Region. It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change. Maybe the Sinnoh Region now is not suitable for the Hisuian Form of Sneasel to thrive, and Johtonian Sneasel might become the main Sneasel in the world right now." Professor Oak suggests.
"I guess that might make sense. We do have a Weavile with us, but we caught it in a Space-time Rift." Serena says. "Maybe Johtonian Forms of Sneasel or Weavile aren't supposed to be found in this Hisui Region, just like how Porygon and Magnemite aren't supposed to be found here as well..."
"Yeah...but the question is how the Space-time rifts here are formed?" Ash says. "That is something we really need to know about."
"Now back to the topic, Sneasler is the evolution of Hisuian Sneasel, to evolve it, you need to use the Razor Claw, but daytime rather than the nighttime." Oak says. "That's all it is said here."
Lillie says, "I hope the information is good enough."
"Thanks, Lillie, Professor Oak." Ash and Serena ends the call as they realize they are about to arrive at the Coronet Highlands. "So that confirms a lot of things." Ash says, "First, Ingo is from our world, and maybe the fall from that world to here causes them to lose his memories."
"But we didn't lose our memories..." Serena says, "Do you think Arceus is the one that made us keep our memories?"
"I guess so...and I don't think Arceus is the one that brings Ingo to this world..." Ash says.
I'll end the chapter right here, now Ash and Serena are preparing to go to the next destination: The Coronet highlands. Not to mention they meet Ingo, who is actually from Ash and Serena's real world as he came to the past with no memories. Will they help him remember everything from the world where they came from?
