Thanks for the kind reviews so far, they are much appreciated! c:
Gordon checked his watch face to find fifty missed calls from Virgil, interwoven with eleven missed calls from Alan, ten missed calls from Scott, nine from John, five from his father and two from Tin-Tin. Clicking the redial function on one of Virgil's notifications, Gordon frowned when the call immediately cut off.
For some reason, any kind of transmission was negated from his end - perhaps because he was trapped underwater? Or maybe the crazy fish prince who had captured them had some sort of forcefield around his undersea kingdom that prevented radio transmissions?
He couldn't believe he was even thinking that.
"We have to get out of here, Phones! Those creeps will be back at any moment!" Troy scowled, pacing up and down in the cell. "We have to do something to escape and quickly!"
"I know, skipper, and we will. It's just a case of jumping the guards when they turn up and then we can make a run for it."
"But we're still tied up! And how many times has that actually worked?"
"Quite a few, I think."
"Yeah, until we get captured again." the Captain replied huffily.
Phones rolled his eyes and watched as Marina observed the circular porthole at the top of the cell, obviously thinking of a way they'd be able to cut the glass and escape without the men drowning, as none had their breathing apparatus with them. She turned to Troy, who was still pacing up and down in the cell, and then Gordon, who was frantically tapping his watch screen. Her eyes met Phones', and he shot her a supportive look.
"Don't worry, honey, we won't let them touch you. You think Troy'll let that happen?" he looked over at his friend, who looked fit to burst. "Over his dead body, and mine."
Marina nodded in understanding and smiled at her friend. She just wished there was another way she could help.
Footsteps could be heard coming down the corridor and Marina tensed up, shrinking back towards the wall. Four bulky guards honed into view and opened the prison door, grabbing Troy first and pulling him down the corridor. The others grabbed Gordon, Marina and Phones and practically carried the struggling aquanauts the whole way up the stairs and into the grand lobby.
As he was forced upstairs, Gordon took a good look at their grandiose surroundings. It was like he'd gone back in time and was witnessing a Roman Emperor's abode. There were marble statues carved into humanoid shapes, which Gordon presumed were other aquaphibians, lurking around every nook and cranny of the room. The room itself was surrounded by glass windows, which at first, Gordon believed were numerous fish tanks, until he realized that he was actually witnessing the sea outside and this building itself WAS the fish tank.
"Take them to the royal lounge!" Anath ordered, and the guards carried them all into said lounge, unceremoniously dropping them all on the red carpeted marble floor, apart from Marina, who was taken up to the throne where Aquanas was cockily sitting with his legs over the left arm of the royal seat.
Marina was pushed towards the prince. Aquanas reached up and rubbed a scaly finger underneath her chin, causing her to recoil and push back against the guard holding her.
"Leave her alone!" Troy demanded. As he went to stand up, a curved glass cylinder fell from the ceiling, encasing the men inside. Troy smashed his shoulder against the glass but it did not break. The Captain tried again and again until Phones pulled him back.
"My, you have lots of fight in you, Tempest. Perhaps I should ask Titan if I can turn you into one of my personal gladiators..."
Troy was about to reply with a curse but Phones held a firm hand on his friend's shoulder. "Don't rise to it, skipper." he whispered.
Aquanas stood up, his cape flowing elegantly behind him. "Now then, I have a wedding to start preparing for!" he clapped his hands and two of his servants were immediately by his side. "Fetch me my tailor and seamstresses. We have a lot of work to do! Guard the prisoners well, Anath!"
"Yes, sire."
"I will be taking the girl with me."
"Marina!" Troy called out as the mermaid's hand was captured by the prince. Aquanas began leading her down the corridor away from the others and he turned back to Troy with a cocky look.
The doors slammed behind him.
"Come on, hurry it along!" Scott ordered as he led a group of evacuees towards the transport buses that would move them to safety as the cyclone passed. The pilot helped them on board and jumped off the bus, wishing them well as the door shut. He looked up to see the darkening clouds in the distance, along with a small green dot making up the bulk of his brother's aircraft.
Wondering if Virgil had managed to contact Gordon, Scott was called back by Captain Papadaki, who informed him that tsunami warnings had just been given to him for the island.
"A tsunami?" Scott exhaled loudly. Could things get ANY worse?
"We've evacuated most of the east coast now. We will take the remaining people to the west. We'll be meeting at the Relief Centre in the town of Ziros."
"Alright, I best relocate Mobile Control and head over there. Excuse me while I contact my colleagues."
The Captain nodded and turned away. Scott pushed a button on his watch and after a few beeps, his brother's face appeared on the screen.
"Hi Scott. Still no word I'm afraid."
"That's alright Virg. I'm just letting you know that we've just been given the heads up about some island tsunami warnings."
Virgil's frustration was evident. "You're kidding."
"I'm afraid not. There's not much I can do here right now, so I'm relocating to Ziros, a town further east."
"Alright. Hopefully the cyclone won't get much bigger. Two's handling it okay but I can feel more and more turbulence building up by the minute."
"I could imagine. I'm gonna get a move on now. Let me know if Gordon contacts you."
"F.A.B."
With an exasperated sigh, Scott made his way over to Thunderbird 1.
