If you've been watching the news you may have seen that Atlantic Inferno happened in real life! Ironically I watched that episode the day before the explosion. John's dressing gown still gets me. xD
Hope you enjoy!
"So Marina, how do you like my undersea inlet? Is it not just the finest underwater engineering you have ever seen?"
Marina fought hard not to roll her eyes at the tedious lecture she was subjected to. After being made up for the wedding, Aquanas had requested her presence in his viewing gallery, breaking all kinds of pre-marriage traditions just because he wanted to fuel his ego and show off his alleged genius.
The pair were standing in some sort of glass dome above what appeared to be an underwater sea. Little waves were brushing up against the sandy bed with the vibrant strands of seaweed dancing in the current. The mermaid had to admit the sight of the underwater waves pushing through the current was extremely impressive - a sea under another sea was a rarity in her world and she wondered if something similar would be beneficial to the flora occupying Pacifica's grounds.
"I can see my creation astounds you." the aquaphibian replied in a condescending tone. "I assume Pacifica does not harbour such a rare sight to behold like this, correct?"
Rolling her eyes at his arrogant form, the Pacifican walked to the end of the bubble glass, noticing that the harbour was just around the corner from his underwater sea, which curved off around a large rock acting as a headland. Thinking hard, Marina figured that she could possibly follow the channel current down towards the underwater harbour, where Stingray would most likely be moored. All she would need is a window to escape from!
There would be no time to tell Troy or the others about her plan. She knew she was the only person who could swim across without drowning. It had to be her.
"I have several weather machines strategically placed around my kingdom to create wave fluctuations and waterspouts which hide my palace from the humans above. A side effect of my machines is that they sometimes cause… ructions above the surface."
Marina turned to him.
"Typhoons, Marina. Typhoons."
So… he can weaponize the weather and sea currents? That explains why Stingray grounded. It was obviously caught up in one of his undersea waterspouts.
"There is an incredible hurricane raging above the surface as we speak. I wonder what havoc it is causing for the humans?" the creature smirked, turning back to his guards who laughed.
Marina frowned and stared up at the surface.
"Steadying the retros."
"FAB."
"Powering down."
The sleek red rocket that was Thunderbird 3 gently slid back into its hidden silo underneath the Round House. Alan let out a yawn as he ran through his post-flight checklist, the adrenaline of the rescue wearing off and making him tired.
Alan moved into the passenger cabin to see Brains completing his own checklists. He saluted his friend before placing his hands firmly on the back of the genius's chair as he straightened out the crimps in his back.
"I'll s-stay here and complete the rest of the c-checks for you." Brains said, not looking up from his data pad.
Alan stood up straight. "I don't mind helping you. They won't take too long."
Brains shook his head. "Alan, I'll be fine. Go back up to the house. W-We both know you're not really in the right frame of m-mind to complete the checks anyway." he smiled wryly.
Alan winced. He hated how easily others' could read his emotions. He couldn't believe that even Brains was able to, as the genius was notoriously bad at dealing with his feelings, being the logical thinker. "Thanks Brains. I'll meet you in the lounge later."
"Seeya Alan."
Alan took his leave and made his way over to the couch which soon moved him through Thunderbird 3's silo and elevated him back up to the lounge, where his father, Tin-Tin, Kyrano, and Grandma were sitting by the patio doors, practically in the exact same positions he'd left them in before the rescue.
"Hi son. Everything go okay?" Jeff asked, greeting his son with a smile.
Alan nodded. "Yeah, the rescue was pretty easy, considering what we had to do."
"John said something about a language barrier?" Tin-Tin smiled cheekily, causing Alan to go a little red.
"Of course he did." Alan groaned. He knew John wouldn't leave out his miscommunication problems in his report because Alan knew his older brothers loved finding new opportunities to tease him about things. He made a mental note to get his older brother back for that one.
"Where are you going, Alan?" Grandma asked when Alan crossed the room away from them.
"I need a shower, Grandma. I won't be long."
Leaving the rest of his family in the lounge behind him, Alan made his way through the bedroom section of the house until he reached his own room. He stood outside the door for a few moments, then turned his head to another door just down from his own. Alan sighed and followed the corridor until he reached the other door, then slowly entered the room.
A bluish hue penetrated through the darkness, as well as a light hum. He stepped inside and closed the door behind him, making his way past the numerous fish tanks stacked around the room and creeped over to the fish adorned bed, on which he immediately flopped. Alan stared up at the ceiling for a few moments, trying to get over the heaviness in his heart.
A strong feeling compelled him to check his watch, so Alan raised his arm until it was level with his face.
"Gordon, this is Alan."
Humming.
"Gordon… I just… I know you can't hear me but I need you to get back to me."
Humming.
"I hope you're alright, I'm just… I'm just worried, you know?"
Humming.
Alan scowled. "So I'm going to keep on trying until you respond!"
