**Okay so I just wanted to make sure that all of you have read the Christmas chapter #60. If you have great and if not you really should because the gifts, especially one, are going to show up again a lot throughout the entire story. I mean through pretty much all the years coming up in a maybe important way. So again if you have, great, and if you haven't, it would be helpful to you if you did, to get a better understanding in later chapters**
.
The day finally came and it was time for the match against the two rival houses. Slytherin versus Gryffindor. It had been an eventful night before the game with the whole team being praised in the common room. Our houses had a long history of rivalry and this match was bringing the team spirit to even those who didn't care for the sport. It was no mystery that Slytherins were going to cheat but everyone had their own style when it came to playing, ours just happened to be cheating. I had told Draco he would do fine but he was still worried. There was a lot of pressure on him, being the Seeker and all, and he didn't want to lose. He didn't get much sleep that night
"You're not going to cheer for Gryffindor this time are you?" Daphne asked as we walked to the Quidditch field. It wasn't hard to tell who was cheering for what team as everyone had decided to wear either scarlet or green to show their support
"Nope. This time I'm all Slytherin" I smiled. I had brought Draco's scarf with me though it was a little warm I still wanted to show some house pride. Lev had come along this time too. I had tied a green piece of lace around his collar so he could show some house pride like the rest of us
"Good" she grinned back. She herself had worn her hair up with a green ribbon and brought along a small flag with a snake's face painted on. It hissed when she moved it about and I tried not to flinch every time she did
"In fact" I said ignoring the flag and pulling my wand out. "Colovaria" I called pointing to our robes. A small flash of red came out before turning into green. The color spread from the tip of my want towards our robes turning them green too. "There, now everyone will know who we're routing for"
"Much better" Daphne nodded before we climbed up to the stands to watch the game. It looked like the whole school had come to watch this match. Most of two thirds of the crowd was in support of Gryffindor while we loudly cheered for Slytherin. Even Professor Snape had decided to cheer for his house wearing green to show his support. Daphne and I pushed our way to the front just as the match began
Barely a minute into the game and both sides earned a penalty shot. Gryffindor scored theirs but we didn't. The match was already in favor of them. Draco was hovering over all the players keeping an eye on Harry but looking for the Snitch. We could win as long as he got it before Gryffindor was fifty points up. The crowd was restless and so was my puppy. He may not be a student but he was still a Slytherin
"THAT WAS DELIBERATE!" the Gryffindor commentator yelled into the megaphone. One of our Chasers had swerved in front of one of the Gryffindor's. It had been the quiet one I had seen from the Gryffindor's practice. Shame, she was actually okay. But I didn't have time to feel too bad. She got a penalty shot for her team and scored. Not too far away from them movement caught my eye as Harry turned suddenly, apparently after the Snitch. Draco noticed too and followed after him
On his way Harry was almost hit by two Bludgers. Our Slytherin Beaters rushed towards him. Harry moved out of their way just in time and they crashed against each other. Laughter echoed from the commentator as well as other Gryffindors. But before he could get too happy Flint sped towards Wood and scored. Slytherin erupted with cheers as the commentator started cursing, badly. The score was now thirty-ten to Gryffindor. Only twenty points ahead. ..
Now Slytherins weren't the only ones playing dirty. Our Beater hit one of the Gryffindor Chasers saying he thought she was a Bludger. George elbowed his face in response. It made me giggle a little earning a reproving look from Daphne. Both teams earned penalties but only Gryffindor scored. Forty-ten to Gryffindor
Another ten points to Gryffindor. Another penalty. Sixty-ten to Gryffindor. This was not good; they were getting too close to winning. Fred hit one of our Chasers blowing the Quaffle out of his hand. A Gryffindor caught it and scored one more time. Seventy-ten. Gryffindors in lead by sixty
Draco followed closely behind Harry. He had bolted after the Snitch but something was stopping him. Draco was pulling the tail of broom back. The Snitch disappeared. A penalty was awarded to Gryffindor but Draco didn't seem to mind. He slid back on his broom with a wicked smile. Neither the commentator nor McGonagall was happy. The game kept on but my eyes watched the Seekers. Harry kept blocking any turn Draco attempted not wanting him to gain any leads on the Snitch. He needed to keep him away from it until Gryffindor had enough points in lead. Draco knew that too which only frustrated him more.
Lev snarled bringing my attention to a Gryffindor girl went to score. The Slytherin team wasn't having it. All but Draco moved to block her. Harry went to them and I saw a smile on Draco's face. He had seen the Snitch. He started diving for it just as Harry saw it too. There was a look of fright on his face as he sped back towards them. If Harry hadn't been on a Firebolt there was no way he could've come close to them on time. But he was. He flattened himself against his broom as Draco got closer. He was almost to it, reaching his arm out. Harry got closer too, now at level with him. Daphne and I leaned against the edge of the stands to get a better look, as were many people around us. They were so close and–
"NO!" everyone behind us screamed outraged as Harry pushed Draco away and got the Snitch for himself. The Gryffindor team rushed to Harry and pulled him into an embrace. They had won. Behind them the Slytherin team was furious. Flint was cursing as they lowered themselves to the ground. I couldn't hear him but I could tell
A crowd rushed down for the winning Gryffindors as all Slytherin supporters screamed outraged. Many claimed Harry cheated pushing Draco out of the way like that but really it was no different than what we had done. Still part of me was angry too. Lev barked sending a rush of wind from in front of him that would've knocked the Gryffindors out of the air if they hadn't already lowered themselves too. Slytherins grumbled as they left the stands.
"No, no, no!" Daphne complained still not believing we had lost. We walked down the stands back to the ground and saw the Slytherin team making their way to locker room with mixture of disappointment and fury on their faces. I frowned when I saw Draco's face blank. I hated that expression on him
"I'll meet you in the common room" I told Daphne handing Lev to her. She looked like she was going to argue but stopped herself when she saw me heading for them. Without saying a word she led my puppy to the castle. Daphne must've thought I was going to go congratulate the twins but I'm sure they were getting plenty of that from everyone else. I needed to talk to Draco, they could wait
As the cheers for Gryffindor roared through the field I waited patiently outside the locker room. One by one all the members of the Slytherin House Quidditch team left, all except Draco. He had yet to come out and I was sure I had watched him step in. His face hadn't appeared among the clearly irritated ones of the rest of the team leaving and while I was sure they had all left I stayed and thought about it another second. Was everyone else out? I hoped they were as I stepped inside.
"Deedee?" I called and stayed quiet waiting for a response. My footsteps echoed, being the only sound inside the place.
"What?" I heard a small voice say and walked over to the noise. Draco sat on one of the benches, his elbows on knees and his face looking down at floor. I sat next to him but he didn't look up
"Why are you so upset?" I asked running my fingers through his hair
"We lost the cup." He gave me a look as if it was obvious and I was stupid for even asking
"Yeah well it's just a stupid trophy. Personally I think you were great, you know not counting all the cheating" I added untangling my fingers from his blond hair
"Let's see you try it then" he growled though he knew I was as good a flier as him. I frowned at his remark
"Don't start, I'm trying to make you feel better" I scolded
"Hell of a job you're doing at it" I rolled my eyes at his sarcasm but hugged his arm. He didn't pull away or even shift a little as I had expected him to. Instead he just sat there, letting me hold him
"Winning isn't everything" I said and he looked at the floor with an amused expression
"Let me guess, we're all winners for trying"
"No you still lost. I'm just saying it's not that bad" I shrugged and he chuckled a little, shaking his head
"Hell of a job" he repeated
"Do you want me to hex the Gryffindor Team?" I asked. He looked up for first time and after a beat burst into laughter nodding. "I would, you know"
"No, you wouldn't" he said in an airy tone once he was done with his fit of laughter
"For you I would." My face was serious but held a small smile. He grinned back happy to hear it. Since he was happy, or happier at least, I untangled myself from him and stood up. "You did great; Harry's broom was just really fast. It is a Firebolt after all"
"Tell that to Flint" he grumbled but stood up too
"Do you want me to hex him too?" Draco laughed again
"Maybe" he smiled and I had to admit it was a relief to see him back to his rude and cruel ways
"Want another hug?" I asked stretching out my hands in front of me. He answered by wrapping his arms around waist. Draco hid his face in neck and I put my hands in his hair. He held me tight but I didn't complain. I knew he needed this
"You're the best" he grumbled against my skin. It gave me weird feeling to have his breath on my neck like that.
"I know" I told him and I felt him smirk. "Tell you what. Meet me in the Middle Courtyard and I'll get us some hot chocolate from the kitchen"
"Do you even know where the kitchen is?" he asked still not letting go
"I know a lot of things, Deedee" I said simply. I pulled away and gave him one last smile before exciting the locker room. I felt his gaze on me as I walked away
