Veronica took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for the challenging task that lay ahead. She slowly exhaled, shook out her limbs, and then reached up and knocked on the door in front of her. Footsteps approached and the door swung open, revealing Logan Echolls smirking face.
"Veronica Mars. Just can't stay away, can you?" He glanced down at his bare wrist. "All right, I've got some time. But it'll have to be a quickie."
"My, my, Mr. Echolls. You sure do know how to charm a girl, don't you?" Veronica pushed past him.
He put on a delighted expression. "Oh, I just love it when you play rough!" he exclaimed, sounding like a Southern belle.
Veronica flopped onto the sofa and took a magazine from her bag. She flipped through it, making odd little expressions.
After several moments, Logan said, "Okay, I'll bite. What're you doing?"
Veronica looked up. "Oh, nothing. Just reading about what Tom and Katie are thinking about naming their baby. If you had a girl, would you name her Suri?"
Logan pretended to think. "Yes, because I'd want my daughter to be a hooker."
"If you get Kendall knocked up, I'm sure your little bundle of joy would be a natural."
"You know, I think you're right." He stared at her. "Seriously, why are you here?"
"You, me, front seat of my car while parked in a loading dock?"
Logan plopped down next to her and put his arm around her. "How kinky of you. Let me guess, the Donut never let you take it outta the bedroom and now you feel the urge to…shall we say, experiment?"
"Ah, now you've got it," Veronica answered with a smirk. Then she lifted his arm and ducked out from under it. "Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of finding us a witness."
Logan reached forward and said, "No need to make excuses, Veronica. I know how hard it is to resist someone as drop dead sexy as me."
Veronica put on a sympathetic look. "And I don't know how you do it. Resist yourself, I mean."
"What can I say? I'm just that good."
Veronica rolled her eyes and got to her feet. "So you in or out?"
Logan cast a wistful glance at the television. "I don't know. Gilmore Girls is all new tonight."
"TiVo it."
"But that's not as good as watching it when it first airs," Logan began. Heaven forbid he should make things easy for her. Veronica grabbed his arm, dragging him towards the door with surprising strength. "Well, when you put it that way…" Logan said. He reached up and grabbed his jacket off the coat rack. "To the Veronica-mobile away!"
