Disclaimer: I do not own any characters from Twilight or the Maze Runner. Those rights are reserved for Stephanie Myer, and James Dashner, please support the official release. I do own original characters made up for this storyline. Thanks for the support and Happy Holidays!
Note from the Author: Thank you Pozemom, Navywife, and Roxhall for your reviews! I try to make things my own. The thing about fanfiction is that it can go however you want it. I try to take the requests I get, and satisfy the request the best I can. I have several crossovers pending, and I've set a schedule for each fanfiction and given it a timeline. I have fanfictions planned all the way until November next year, so I'm excited to share all of these stories. I am hoping to stay to the timeline the best I can, but with everything that has to do with life, sometimes I don't get to stick as close to that timeline like I would want. I am still working on Danger or Innocence, which is a one-shot story that will be posted in the Twilight Chronicles, and I have another one-shot that is currently being worked on too. The holidays make it harder to get things out on time when I have family coming in and out of town consistently. However, I will try to make sure I get all the stories out that I intend to, this year. After Mazed and Confused, we'll see Walkers Unlimited debut, which is a Walking Dead x Twilight crossover, and then we'll wrap up the year with Valiant, which is a Divergent x Twilight crossover. Those are the goals before the end of the year, and hopefully everything goes according to plan. As always, I appreciate all of you and couldn't do this without all of you! Don't forget to follow, favorite, and leave reviews!
[6 Days Later]
Today was the day that they would explore the new section. At the gathering, Gally showed out, big surprise, he didn't want Thomas to be a runner, but he was simply just overruled. Not only by Newt and Bella, but also the other keeper's, and everyone agreed that Jasper should be next council.
Bella was in her hut, pulling on her gear for her run in the maze. Her and Minho were running the maze today. They agreed that no more than one councilman in the maze at a time, because that wouldn't be fair to the others. So, Thomas was supposed to be running with them in the new section instead of Jasper.
There was a slight knock on the door of her hut, and then it swung open, and Thomas was there. He closed the door behind him, and then moved to help snap the vest in the back.
"Thanks." Bella said and turned and looked at Thomas. "You good?"
"Yeah. It's a new section. I ran section four with Minho two days ago, so I got the hang of it." Thomas said with a nod.
Bella nodded back. "Good. Stay close in there." She said and then reached up and tightened the straps on his vest. They were standing close together now, and Thomas was aware of how close they were. Some flashes in his head, happened, and his dreams came back in images. He knew Bella somehow, and he was confused how they knew each other. How they both ended up here. He reached up, his hands framing her face, and it forced her to look up at him.
Their dark eyes were locked on each other, studying one another before Thomas leaned down, his mouth brushing over hers. He wasn't sure what spurred the kiss, he just knew that he wanted to kiss her.
Bella felt strange, the kiss making her lips tingle. Her lips parted for him, and then his tongue slid across to taste her. It was a slow kiss, one that neither one pressed to go faster, but it was intense. Bella was the first one to pull away, Thomas's hands dropping when she did.
"Bella…" Thomas murmured.
Bella swallowed. "Um. Stay close in there." She murmured, repeating herself, her dark eyes looking up at him. She felt confused inside, and her heart hurt at the thought of Alby in this moment, but their gazes were locked on each other, and she couldn't look away.
Thomas leaned in again, his lips covering hers and he kissed her again. This time his hands went to her waist, pulling her closer against him. Bella's eyes fluttered close as she pressed against him, his hands feeling nice at her waist.
Bella moaned against his mouth as his hands moved lower, gripping her butt gently. Her hands traveled up to his shoulders as she clung to him, the familiar sense of arousal filling her inside, but she managed to pull away again, taking a few steps back, her breathing a little unsteady. "Let's go." She said after a few moments, leaving her hut, and jogging towards the entrance.
Thomas hung back to collect himself. He didn't know what got into him.
Minho was at the entrance when Bella jogged up. It hadn't opened yet, so he was just doing some stretches. He glanced up at Bella. "Hey. You looked flushed. You, okay?"
Bella nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine." She said simply, following along with stretches.
Minho stopped stretching and moved to Bella. He placed his hands on her shoulders and looked at her. "Everything will be okay. We watch each other when we go in. We'll map as far as we can and bounce out early. Let's not test it."
Bella sighed. "Minho, what if- "
"We'll be fine. Alby would want us to keep trying to find a way out of this place." Minho reassured.
Bella sighed. "I know, and we'll find a way out. I'm just afraid of losing more people. Maybe we-"
Jasper jogged up, bringing a machete with him to hand to Bella. "Listen, if it gets hairy in there, don't try and fight too hard, you just leave, and get back. Take your time and don't rush it."
Bella looked at Jasper and grabbed the machete. Minho dropped his hands to his side and nodded to Thomas as he jogged up to join. "Got it."
Jasper smiled, and then stepped forward, kissing her forehead. "Stay safe." He murmured and then dropped his hand to hers and gave it a squeeze.
Bella smiled back at Jasper and the entrance started opening, and she glanced at the wall as it slid back to give them entrance. She looked back at Jasper, squeezing his hand. "Take care of things. We'll be back." She said and then she sheathed the machete and she looked at Minho and then Thomas. She held Thomas's gaze a little longer before she turned her attention back to the maze. The three of them jogged in, disappearing from sight after a few moments.
Jasper watched them disappear, and he sighed, running a hand through his hair, before he went back to the main hut, to talk with Newt before the others woke for the day.
Bella, Thomas, and Minho kept an even pace as they jogged the first part of section 9. They were noting all the walls, and dead ends as they moved through the maze.
"What's that?" Thomas asked, as they came to a stop outside one of the walls.
Bella stooped, picking up the cylindrical item. It had the number 7 on it, and it was covered in some goop. "Hmm. This goo. This is like the stuff that came from the griever when we killed it."
"So this must have come from the griever. When the walls shifted, it shifted this way." Thomas said.
Minho nodded. "Which means that this wall is the same wall that is used in section one and seven."
Bella put the object in her bag. "We'll study this later. Come on let's keep moving." She said and they started jogging some more, only pausing to take a drink of water.
When the sun made it's first decent in the sky, is when the three left, heading out of the maze. Section nine was much larger than they anticipated, but they recovered a part of a griever that could prove to be useful.
They met in the map room in the forest, and they worked on updating the map that the had so far. Jasper joined them after dark overtook the rest of the camp.
"So, how far did y'all get?" Jasper asked as he closed the door behind him.
Bella had her arms crossed across her chest as she watched Minho and Thomas place the shives of wood in place for the walls on the map. She looked up at Jasper. "Well, it's a large section. More dead ends in this one."
Thomas straightened and nodded. "But we found something that is part of the grievers that we can use."
Jasper looked at Bella. "Really? The one that we killed?"
Bella nodded. "Yes." She said and moved to her pack, and grabbed it, taking the object out and tossed it to Jasper.
Jasper caught it, turning it over in his hands as he studied it. "Has the same stamp on it like the supplies we get each month. Number 7. Must mean that this is the section the griever was part of. Which means that whoever is sending us here, and sending us the supplies, also created the grievers." He said and set it down on the makeshift table in the hut.
"That's what we're thinking. During the day, the grievers have to go somewhere." Bella explained. "Tomorrow is section three and then seven. So, we take this in when section seven opens up, and try to figure out where the griever's hiding hole is. If we killed section seven's griever, then that means we shouldn't run into any issues."
Jasper crossed his arms. "Maybe, but we still should proceed with caution." He said, and then sighed. "Alright. One day at a time. Minho, go rest up. I'll run with Thomas tomorrow in section three."
Minho blew out a breath. "Yeah, okay. Thanks."
"No problem." Jasper said with a nod. "Alright. Get some food. I'll see you in the morning Thomas." He said before leaving the hut.
Minho nodded. "See you guys in the morning." He said and then he left too.
Bella stared at the map a little longer, studying the new map. Thomas stayed behind, watching her carefully.
"Hey." Thomas said gently.
Bella looked up at him. "Hmm?"
"Do you think that section seven is the way out?" Thomas asked.
Bella sighed. "I don't know, but it's better than anything else we have right now."
Thomas moved towards her, and she didn't move away. He expected her to, and when she didn't, he reached for her. "Bella…."
"Thomas, I can't do this." She said, looking up at him. "I was in love with Alby."
Thomas swallowed. "Okay. I'm sorry…." He nodded, dropping his hand that he reached out with.
Bella looked at him, how confused me looked, but also, she saw something else in him, she moved towards him, her hands sliding up the front of his chest, feeling the hardness of the muscles there. "This doesn't make sense."
Thomas moved his hands to her waist. "Nothing makes sense. Why we're here…. why the grievers were made to what, deter us from leaving?" His dark eyes focused on her. "I dream about you."
Bella's brows furrowed together. "Dreams?"
"Yeah. It's you…me and another girl. We're…. I'm not sure, but it isn't here in the Glade. I don't know what it means, but I know that I somehow knew you before…this place."
"You have memories?"
Thomas shrugged. "I'm not sure. Is that what dreams are?"
Bella was quiet a moment. No one else in the Glade had ever had memories of their life prior to being sent here. So, why was he different? She was studying him, losing track of time, wondering so many different things.
Thomas leaned in, his mouth covering hers like it had earlier that morning. It sent tingles through Bella, and she leaned into him now, his hands pushing up under the material of her shirt. His hands were hot against her skin, and she welcomed the heat.
Bella pressed against him, her arms entwined around him, as they tasted each other. Her brain just wasn't wanting to think about anything else. She didn't think about Alby this time, but rather, just Thomas. She needed his hands on her, and she kept pressing forward.
Thomas was the one to break away. "What if someone comes in." He panted a little, a little breathless from their kissing.
Bella blinked a few times, understanding where this was headed. "Go to my hut. I'll meet you there." She said, and moved away from him, leaving him standing there. She ran a hand through her hair, unsure of why she was doing this. She had only ever been with Alby, and one time with Edward. But both of them were dead. She couldn't stay hung up on Alby. Even if she was with him the longest. It wasn't like it was a public deal. Alby had been very private, and so was she. They never wanted it to get out, and well, now that he was gone, she couldn't properly mourn the right way. She had to keep moving forward. If she didn't, then what? Would she just be sucked into a pit of despair?
She walked through the woods, running into Gally when she made it to the main part of the compound.
Gally steadied her, his hands on her arms. He blinked a few times, realizing it was Bella. "So, updating the maps?" his voice was calm.
Bella nodded. "Yeah. Mapped part of the new section. It's a big section, it's going to take longer." She explained.
Gally nodded. "Ben's ankle is healed. He wanted you to know that."
"Well, we're not allowing too many people back in the maze after what happened. The maze is changing Gally. You know that."
"But you let the greenie in." Gally pointed out.
Bella sighed. "I'm not going through this with you again. Gally, he's important. He's smart and fast. Faster than Ben, and faster than Quil and the others. He helped kill a griever."
"Yeah, and we still don't know how that's going to affect the balance here. What if killing the griever messes it all up?" Gally's voice took on a tone now.
Bella shook her head. "For years, we've been trying to leave this place. That has been the whole purpose of running the maze. Do you not want to get out of this place?"
"Why? I have no memories from before? Why do we have to leave?"
"We're prisoners here. We were stolen from wherever and then sent here. Do you not want to find out why?"
"Not if it risks everything we've built here." Gally said and shook his head. "If Alby was here-"
"If Alby was here, he would say the same things. Keep running, and keep trying to find a way out."
Gally shook his head. "He wanted people to be safe."
"Yes, which is why, before he died, we made that decision to limit runners in the maze. Why I run the maze, why Minho and Jasper run the maze, and why Thomas is running the maze." Bella said. "If you don't understand the reasons why we do this, then you don't have to leave when the rest of us do."
Gally stared at her, his eyes narrowing. "You would leave people here? Defenseless?"
"Are you scared?" Bella asked, raising a brow. "Gally, I'm not going to stop-"
Gally pushed her up against the tree, his face close to hers. "You're opening doors to places that shouldn't be opened. Letting a greenie call the shots, and run in a maze that is now suddenly changing since he got here. Everything is changing since he got here. Do you think, for a minute, that we're safe? We don't even know what's out there." He nearly growled.
"Take your hands off me." Bella's eyes were like two cold stones, staring back at Gally.
Gally hesitated a moment, but he released her, taking a step back. "You're making a mistake." He said and turned and walked away.
Bella blew out a breath and ran her hand through her hair, before she walked back to her hut. Thomas was there, which means he cut the other way around to avoid the rest of the compound so he wouldn't be seen going into her hut. It was smart, she admitted. She closed the door and latched it. She turned and looked at Thomas, who was sitting on her bed.
"I'm not saying I want this to….become something." Bella said. "But. I have needs, so do you. You're not a fan favorite right now, and well…there's a reason you're dreaming about me…right?" She said as she stopped in front of him, looking down into his dark eyes.
Thomas looked up at her. "We're going to get out of here."
"I know."
"When we do…we'll find out why…." Thomas said, his hands moving, running up her thighs to the hem of her shirt. His hands moved beneath her shirt, his hands tasting her flesh.
Bella nodded and then straddled him, sitting in his lap, her mouth moving over his, their tongues instantly tangling together. They pulled each other's shirts off, including her sports bra. They were half naked, pressed together on her bed, his erection stretching his pants as he grew harder and harder.
Bella shifted, leaning up to pull her pants off, and her panties, and he took his pants off, before she pinned him on his back, her hips sliding over his, taking his hard cock inside her quickly. She sighed as he fit her perfectly, filling her up like he was the other part of the puzzle. He groaned softly as she danced her hips against his, moving faster and faster, driving them both towards an orgasm. He wasn't sure how it was supposed to feel, because if he had done something like this before, he had forgotten about it. The sensation was too great, her fluids sliding over him, the friction of their hips pushing her forward over the edge, until she was biting her lip to keep from being too loud, her orgasm tightening around him. His hands moved over her body, caressing her breasts and then he wound his arms around her his mouth seeking hers as she bounced. He felt a tightening and swelling in his cock and this pressure like nothing else he had experienced, before he released, shooting his hot, sticky, load up inside her, moaning against her mouth when he did.
Bella came to a stop as she felt him twitch inside her, emptying out everything he was, and she kissed him softly. She stayed like that for a few more moments while they got their breathing under control. When she did move, he reached for her, pulling her back down against him and he held her in his arms. She rested her head on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. This was simple, or at least, it was supposed to be simple. Except she felt strange laying here in Thomas's arms. She wanted to remember the last time she lay with Alby just for the sake of laying together, but she couldn't and that bothered her. It was slowly being replaced with other feelings. She didn't move though, she was content, just laying here like this, and she didn't realize how much she needed just this close contact with someone. Even if it was Thomas. Her eyes fluttered close, and she felt herself drift off to sleep. Something that she had a hard time with usually.
Thomas lay there, holding her in his arms while she slept. It was different, laying there holding her naked body to his. He had never experienced this, or at least he didn't remember. But he remembered her, and that seemed to connect them somehow. He pulled the thin blanket over them as she shivered slightly, the night air cooling slightly. He closed his own eyes, and waited for sleep, but he heard a knock, and then a sigh. Before long, the latch twisted, and the door cracked open. Thomas opened his eyes and glanced up at Newt. He put a finger to his lips, telling Newt to stay quiet and Newt nodded, turning around and leaving the hut, to let Thomas get up and dressed.
Thomas walked out of the hut, shirtless initially, but pulled on his shirt as he stood there with Newt. "What's wrong?"
"I came to check on her. Sometimes she forgets to…cover up, and I tuck her in. I've been doing it for years." Newt said. "Um. I'm sorry."
"Why?"
"I didn't realize that you two were um…"
Thomas raised a brow and looked back towards the hut. "That? Was not what you think it is."
"So, you two didn't just tear each other's clothes off and have sex?" Newt asked.
Thomas mulled it over in his head. "Okay. We did do that, but it's not like we uh…like each other."
"Mhm. She slept with you. I don't think I have ever seen her with anyone here. She doesn't share intimate details of her private…life here. But if she trusted you enough to fall asleep with you there. Means she likes you at least somewhat." Newt pointed out.
"Well, she's different." Thomas said. "So, was that all you were doing. Checking on her?"
"Yeah. Jasper said that she was acting strange this morning, and then I stumbled across Gally being…Gally, so I thought I'd check in with her."
"How'd you get the latch open?" Thomas nodded to the door.
Newt smiled. "It's a talent I have. Anywho, go back…to bed. I won't keep you."
Thomas sighed. "No, I'll go back to my hut. Probably better this way." He said, running a hand through his hair. "Oh, by the way. Thanks for vouching for me at the gathering."
Newt nodded. "Well, we need people like you. Alby would have agreed. Your bravery is either smart or stupid, I suppose we'll figure out which one." He said and slapped Thomas on the shoulder. "Oh, and I won't say anything about what I saw tonight." He offered a smile. "Get rest." He said and left Thomas standing there.
Thomas sighed, running his hands over his face before looking back at Bella's hut. He wasn't sure what he was doing anymore. He left and went back to his hut, fighting the urge to go back inside her hut to hold her more.
