Bella stood, looking at the entrance of the maze. Her nerves were alive. This would be their final trip into the maze. Either they made it to the other side, or they would die trying. She heard footsteps behind her, and she glanced over at Thomas.

"Hey." Thomas said softly.

Bella nodded. "Hey."

Thomas studied her for a bit. Her dark eyes were worried, and scared. Since he arrived in the Glade, he's seen her strong all the time, with the occasion break down, but now, this was different. "We're going to be okay." He reassured. "You're going to be okay."

Bella frowned as images came flooding back to her. Memories from before.

"I don't understand why she's sending me there…" Bella was upset. Her mother was sending her to the Glade now. Four people were there, and she wanted to send her to the Glade. As if sending Emmett wasn't enough already. Tears spilled over.

Thomas reached up and wiped the tears from her face. "I don't know why either. She doesn't make sense, but she says this is important work."

"So? She's willing to sacrifice everyone. I'm 16 Thomas…Emmett was 15 and she sent him. We're her children." She shook her head. "Edward and Alice are 13 about to be 14. Are any of us really safe? Is she going to send all her children there?"

Thomas watched the tears continue to fall. "Baby…. look at me." He murmured softly.

Bella looked up at him, her dark eyes reddening from her tears. "What…"

"You're going to be okay."

Bella?" Thomas called to her a few times, and then reached for her, his hands going to her waist.

Bella blinked a few times. "What?"

"You spaced out. Were you remembering something?"

Bella looked around, tears coming to her eyes. "Oh no." She sucked in a breath, and it felt like she couldn't breathe suddenly.

Thomas reacted fast, pulling her into his arms, holding her tight, her face pressed to his chest. "It's okay. Take some breaths. I've got you."

Bella shook a little as she thought about Edward, and how he died in the maze and they didn't even know they were brother and sister, and then Emmett…sweet Emmett, who was also her brother. She was supposed to the older sister and yet she had failed them both. "It's not going to be okay."

Thomas frowned. "It will be. Bella, we will all be okay."

"My mother sent me here."

Thomas nodded. "We knew that was a possibility."

"She sent all of her children here."

"Wait…what?"

"Edward…. Emmett…Alice. They're my brothers and my sister. Emmett and Edward…they're…" her voice got tight.

Thomas looked around. The others hadn't gathered yet, and then he looked back down at her, tilting her face up to look at him. "Listen…we're going to get through this. We're going to get out of this maze and we're going to confront the people who put us here, including your mother." He said and then he leaned in, his mouth covering hers softly.

Bella felt like she was calming down. Thomas had that affect on her sometimes, and when he pulled away, she looked up at him, seeing the passion and love on his face for her. "I…"

Jasper jogged up at that moment. "Hey, everyone is coming with except Gally."

Bella pulled away from Thomas and wiped her face quickly. "Figures. Gally would rather stay here and die, then chance freedom." She said and looked at Jasper. "There's no going back from here."

Jasper nodded. He knew that Bella had been crying, because he could see the tears still trying to threaten. "I'm with you….100 percent. I'll follow you until the very end."

A few minutes later, everyone filtered in. Bella looked around at the fourteen other faces. "This is going to be dangerous. Stick together, don't wander, and fight until the end." She said, and everyone nodded. She looked to Thomas, who gave her a little nod, before they all started into the maze.

The maze was stuck on section seven, which was likely because they did find the way out. Bella carried the cylinder with her to the wall, and it opened. Everyone moved behind her, staying close as they walked down the path until more walls opened, and then the final wall. They walked in, looking around at the bridge that went across. The drop off on either side was dark, and seemingly went on forever. When they got halfway across, they heard the clank of grievers as they started climbing up the walls.

"Everyone stay tight." Bella said and then came face to face with a griever. She charged it, fighting it off with a machete while the others scrambled towards the final door. Bella tossed Teresa the cylinder as she hacked the leg of one griever. Jasper fought with her, and then Frypan and Clint joined the tangle, but the griever sent Clint flying off the edge, his screams echoing in the chamber as he fell to his death. Thomas ripped Chuck away from being impaled by a griever, bringing up his blade to deflect the blow.

"Uh. There's a password." Teresa said nervously.

Bella frowned. "Password?" She murmured and then ducked as a griever claw came towards her face.

Minho was struggling with his own griever, and then tossed it off the side. "Teresa, how many characters?"

"9." Teresa said, glancing back. Sonya, Alice, and Rosalie were pushed in tight against her, their backs to Teresa, as they aimed their shovels and pitchfork towards grievers to keep them back.

Jared swung a blade chopping through a griever that tried to take Jasper out from behind, and then turned, watching Jake get his feet ripped out from under him. "Shit." He dove, catching Jake's hand before he fell off the edge. Jared's muscles screamed as he lifted Jake up over the side, only to get stabbed through the side by a griever. He tasted blood on his tongue, and he looked at Jake, and swung him over to the side, and then charged the griever, taking it over the side with him.

"Jared!" Jake screamed as he watched his friend sacrifice himself for him.

"Nine characters…" Bella murmured to herself. "Teresa! Try 715264893."

Teresa tapped the screen fast, entering in the numbers, but not fast enough while Jack and Zart took a hit, trying to knock grievers away from Teresa while her back was turned, and Rosalie and Alice shook with fear. Zart flew off the edge, his fate sealed with his scream, and Jack fell forward as the griever stabbed through him.

Jasper sliced at the griever, knocking it back, and then turned and sliced at the other one Bella was fighting, knocking it back. The door started opening, and Teresa, Rosalie, Alice, and Sonya were the first through the door.

Bella looked to the others left. "Go now!" She yelled, and then Frypan, Newt, Jake, Chuck, and Minho made it through. Thomas hooked an arm around Bella's waist and hauled her towards him, pushing her through the door, and then grabbed Jasper's hand, and pulled him away, the griever stabbing out, and barely missing Jasper as they stumbled back through the door, and it shut.

Everyone was panting, either from fear or from physical exertion. Bella's heart beat hard in her ears, as she reached for Alice immediately, pulling her into her arms.

"You're okay." Bella breathed.

Alice hugged Bella back, sobbing a little from the close encounters. "We made it."

Bella pulled back and then looked around at the remaining 11. They were tired from their fight, but they had made it. Her eyes landed on Thomas's last, and she moved to him, and she hugged him, his arms wrapping around her instantly, and he hugged her back, kissing the top of her head. It was the scariest moment in his life, having to fight off that many grievers to get to safety. She pulled away a few moments later, and then looked to the others. "Come on, let's go get answers." She said and they followed her through the hall.

Bella's memory was foggy of the facility, but she walked the halls like she knew where she was going. They came to the large lab, the one from her memories. Things were broken, and there were people laying around, dead. She didn't understand what had happened. Why was everyone dead? She wandered over to a control console, seeing a woman slouched forward. She looked at the woman, realizing it was her mother from her memories, and she swallowed and looked at the screen in front of her. Bella leaned over, hitting a key and her mother appeared on the screen.

"Bella, and others. There is so much, that I wish I could explain. Time is running out. You don't have your memories, but…I am your mother, Esme Cullen. This experiment was meant to save the world, and if you're watching this now, that means the experiment was a success, and you have made it out of the maze. You may find this cruel, subjecting you children to the harsh trials of the maze and the Glade, but know it was a necessary one. I know you're all angry….or frightened. The sun has scorched the earth, and you won't remember this either, but billions of people have died. A virus came, and started to spread. We call it, the Flare. There are others out there…. others that think differently than we do. They don't believe that our research is…humane. We don't know why, but children are immune to this virus. Which is why you have struggled in the maze for so long. Bella…find your father…he opposes what we do, but now that you're out of the maze, you'll need his help. I am afraid I've run out of time. Thank you all, for the sacrifices you have made. Remember. Wicked is good." Esme then pulled a gun out and pointed it at her head and the shot startled Bella, causing her eyes to go wide.

Thomas lay a hand on Bella's shoulder, and then turned her to hug her.

Jasper looked around at everything. "Well. We should gather what we can and- "

Gally appeared, a gun in his shaky hand and he appeared to be infected by a griever.

Jasper put a hand up. "Whoa there, bud. Let's put the gun down, discuss this."

"No. They put us in that Glade!" He said looking to Thomas and Bella. "They were always the favorite. Because their mother ran this place. While my mom died from the virus, and I was used and tested on before being sent there. You don't deserve freedom!" Gally yelled.

Bella detangled from Thomas and eased forward. "Gally. You're right. My mom put us in the Glade. She put me in the Glade and took my memories from me. I was in that Glade longer than you Gally. So was Em. We didn't have a choice either." She said and continued to ease forward.

Gally shook his head. "Thomas wasn't. They sent him last. Teresa too. How is that fair? They were orphans like me. Why couldn't I stay hmm? I was smart. I could figure things out."

"I don't know." Bella admitted. "I can't change anything that's happened, so why don't we put the gun down and let's talk."

Gally shook his head. "I don't want to talk anymore." He said, suddenly his demeanor changed, and his hand stopped shaking. Bella rushed him, knocking the gun away, but it discharged, hitting Chuck, who had pushed Newt out of the way.

Minho through the axe he had, and it impaled Gally's chest, and Gally sunk to his knees, before dropping completely to the ground dead.

Bella rushed to Chuck as he started to fall. "No no no. Chuck, come on man. Please talk to me." She said quickly, but the blood pooled in his chest, and he looked around, finally his eyes landed on Thomas.

"Thomas. Thank you for being my friend." Chuck murmured, before his breath let out in a shaky spiral, and then the light left his eyes.

Thomas had tears streaming down his face. "Chuck!" He went to his knees, his hand shaking as he brushed his hand over Chuck's eyes to close them.

Suddenly people appeared, wearing tactical gear. Everything seemed to go in slow motion as the people helped gather them, helping them out of the facility, into the blinding light of the sun, and the sands surrounding them. They were loaded up on helicopter transports.

Bella felt numb somewhat. Losing Chuck at the end, and he was so young, ate at her, and she could tell it ate away at Thomas. She reached over and placed her hand over his, and he looked over at her. Tears were still staining his cheeks, as they were ushered off to somewhere unknown. He only hoped that it was somewhere better.
