[1 Year Later]

Sanctuary grew. More kids were rescued from the hands of WICKED, even with Janson's death in the helicopter a year ago, Esme still pressed forward, trying to work on a 'cure' for the Flare. The cure that the Sanctuarians developed, was in fact a cure, and they would go out and find others living in the scorch and give them the cure so they wouldn't get the Flare virus. Even with that cure, Esme wanted to prove something. She wanted to cure the cranks. Because the developed cure wouldn't cure the cranks completely. It was mostly a preventative, and the cranks it did work on, was discovered they were newly infected. The longer you were the infected, the less likely the developed cure would work.

Bella looked at her weapon, making sure it was ready as she suited up for the retrieval from the maze, they were going in to rescue a group of kids. Thomas walked up, and she looked up at him and smiled. "Hey you."

"Hey, you going on that run today?"

"Yeah. Last one for me, I promise. I told you I wanted to settle, and I meant it."

Thomas smiled. "I know." He said and leaned in and kissed her. "Alice is due this week. Her and Jasper are hoping for a boy."

"I know. I promised her I would be here for the birth." Bella said. "This shouldn't take us long. Minho and Sonya are coming along. We're quick, and then we have Tallon and Willow. Should be good." Bella said.

Thomas nodded. "Just be careful. This one is going to be cutting it close."

"Newt will have the camera feeds looped. We're going in at night. I know the maze inside and out. This is our maze, Thomas."

"What if they changed it?"

"They didn't." Bella shook her head. "Mother doesn't know that we're even alive out here."

"Still. Be careful. I love you." Thomas said and then he kissed her again.

Minho trotted up. "Alright, transport is ready to go. Bucky is flying us into the scorch, and then we'll be about two miles out from the maze."

Bella nodded. "Got it. Let's go." She said and then kissed Thomas one last time. "I'll be back." She promised, and then she was gone.

Thomas always worried when he went on these rescue missions. They had gotten married five months ago. Carlisle helped marry them. The simple bands they wore, was a symbol of their commitment to each other. Sanctuary was a safe place to raise a family. Bella had been apprehensive, but she realized that if humanity is going to grow, that they needed to have a family. So, she agreed to settle down.

[The Maze]

Bella led her group through the maze, disarming the grievers as they moved through. They had devices they could attach to them, and it would power them down, but still send signal back to command that they were still operating. When they got to the door, Sonya found the panel in the stone wall, and she pushed it open, taking her tablet, and hacking into the panel, and then Newt did the rest from base. The door opened, and they were met with a startled glader.

"Do not be alarmed. We are here to save you and get you out of the maze." Bella announced.

The boy blinked a few times. "W-what?"

"There is a sanctuary waiting for you guys. I am Bella Cullen, daughter of the leader of the Sanctuary. Come with me quickly. How many are there of you?"

"30." The boy supplied. "I'm Tok."

"Alright Tok. Do you want to be saved?"

Tok nodded. "Very much so."

"Alright, lets get moving." Bella said.

Minho and Sonya helped get the other twenty-nine prepared to leave.

"What about the grievers?" one boy asked.

"They've been disabled. We only have fourteen minutes left before those cameras in the maze kick back on and WICKED knows we're here. I'll explain more once we're on the transport." Bella said.

It felt good to rescue more people. She would always be there, at every turn to ruin her mother's plans of abusing these children for her own cause.

The maze was dark, but Bella knew the maze well, and the others followed Bella and the others to a different exit, one that Bella had figured out a while back. It was not visible from inside the maze, which is why they never found it when they tried so many times to get out. They slipped out of the exit, and they booked it across the scorch, heading towards their transport.

Bucky was ready for them. Bella got the other kids up on the transport and looked around one last time before she boarded it herself. Once situated, Tok looked at her. "How long have you been doing this?"

"That was my maze." Bella nodded. "I was there five years before I busted out."

"Five years?" Tok seemed to be shocked. "There must have been a lot of you there."

"Well." Bella said and looked at Minho. "We lost a lot of people to the maze itself. When it started changing, things…. got worse. We made it out, before being kidnapped and forced into phase two. We escaped and found our way to Sanctuary. There, we do have a cure for the flare."

"The flare?" Tok asked.

"It's a virus. All of this." Bella nodded out the side of the transport. "This happened by the sun. Scorched the planet. With it came a virus, that turns adults into mindless zombies that will attack you viciously. If you get scratched or bit, you can get infected with the virus. Now, we have a cure. So, it prevents the flare from happening. The only thing we can't cure, is cranks that have been infected for a long time." She explained. She could tell that Tok was confused. "WICKED used a memory serum on you. You won't remember any of this, but when we get back to Sanctuary, we have a way to get your memories back."

Tok nodded. "Thank you."

Bella smiled. "Of course." She said, and then Bucky turned towards Sanctuary.

[Sanctuary]

Bella got the kids checked in. They were being examined, and administered the cure, and the memory serum so the kids could get their memories back. Thomas found her, and he leaned in and kissed her. "Hey you."

"Thirty. That's more than expected, weren't these kids in that maze for 9 months?" Thomas asked.

Bella nodded. "Yeah, seems like mother is just accelerating the process."

"This is a lifelong battle." Thomas said with a sigh.

"Well, dad won't just openly kill her. He's not that type of person, and I get that. He loves her for who she used to be. She's just mad with her own agenda at this point. But I did disable the maze on the way out. It'll take her a long time to figure out how to fix it. If we do that with each maze, that means that we can slow her down. That and finding the children in the scorch and bringing them here. That will keep them out of her clutches." Bella said.

Thomas agreed. Anything to slow Esme down. He kissed Bella again, and his hands went to her waist, pulling her against him.

Bella smiled against his lips. "Someone is frisky." She murmured.

"I missed you." Thomas said back, smiling down at her. "Let's go home. Have some fun. Aren't you ovulating this week?"

Bella raised a brow. "You're keeping up with it?"

"Well…yes."

Bella smiled a little. "I should be ovulating tomorrow. We really want to do this?"

"I really want this…. if this is what you want too." Thomas murmured softly.

Bella knew that this was the right step. She thought about being a mother, and she wanted to be a better mother than hers ever was. She smiled and nodded. "Let's do this." She said, and then Thomas hoisted her up, spinning in a circle with her as he kissed her, before setting her down on the ground. They linked hands and they went back to their house. The one that was built earlier in the year for them.

When they got inside, they tore each other's clothes off, their mouths never leaving each other. Thomas's hands moved over her naked body, caressing her in all her favorite places, before he got her on their bed. His mouth moved from her mouth to her throat, to her chest and then he angled down, trailing his mouth to her hip and then to her heated core. His tongue moved over her clit, and she moaned, and shifted her hips up to meet his mouth. He knew how to drive her insane and how to pleasure her with every touch. She rose up, her orgasm coming fast, and strong. She shuddered and moaned when she did, and then he was meeting her mouth again with his, before his hard cock pushed inside her, gathering more moans from her. He pushed inside her deep, his swollen tip hitting her cervix with every push, until he was spilling out, coating her inside. His seed seeping in and filling her up. They moaned together as they came, their fingers lacing together in the sheet. His hips stopped moving and he rested his forehead to hers, their breathing labored.

"I love you." Thomas murmured.

"I love you too." She felt like she was flying in the clouds now, pleasure had wrapped its way around all of her.

She had never been so happy before, being here with Thomas, thinking about future possibilities. A year ago, she was fighting for her life, and now, she was fighting for others, and for all of humanity. It was something that she wouldn't give up on, ever. Thomas's breathing changed and she looked over at him and smiled. He had fallen asleep, his arm draped around her. She hoped that time could just stand still, so she could see him like this, all the time. She thought about children, and she really did want to be a mother, now more than ever. She wanted to prove something to herself, and her mother, that she could be a mother, one that her mother couldn't even compare to.

Everything that happened with the maze, losing Alby, losing Edward, Emmett, Frypan, Chuck….and many more. Their deaths did have a purpose, even though it was a sad one. She was thankful that they all fought along side her to get out of the Glade. Without them, they wouldn't have gotten this far, and would not be in Sanctuary now. Her eyes drifted shut, as she continued to think about the maze, and her time there in the glade. A living hell it was, and now here they were, safe and sound in Sanctuary. She drifted off to sleep, thinking about a child she would have, hopefully soon.
