Yay, I'm not dead!

Hello everybody. So, here is my 'school is over and now there's summer' update thing plus a few more things. As some of you may have noticed, I haven't posted anything in awhile… A really long while… It's been several months, okay.

By this point all of you who've been with me for a long time should honestly be expecting this kind of thing from me. No, I haven't given up on the story. There's just been a lot of little things piling up into one big thing keeping me from being able to publish the newest chapter.

Now I'm sure there's a good few types of people who read my story so I won't assume all of you care what's been happening. What I will say though is that I'm almost done with it and the next chapter should be up in about a week.

Year Five is happening and this is where we get into some srs bsnss. Voldemort is back so that's going to be a thing and you're going to see more of what's going on from that perspective for the next couple of years (my version of it I mean). And the pattern of amount of chapters in one year getting bigger is probably going to continue too.

Also, remember, this is still not a Dramione story. My story was even part of a Dramione community for a little while, I have no idea why. Now it's part of a Hermione one and that's nice and I appreciate it and all but I have literally zero intentions to make that ship happen. Also, she only shows up sometimes in this story. But if you got this far in the story you should really know that by now brah.

So, returning to the topic above, for those of you who don't care about all the little details of why I've been gone so long, you got an answer to your maybe question and you can ignore the rest of this update.

For those of you who do care, here's what's been going on for the 'however long it's been' period of my hiatus from here:

I hadn't intended for it to take this long but some things ended up happening which made me need a break from writing. I took a few weeks off as my grades had dropped, mostly from my lack of effort on homework and stuff, but I needed to catch up. Once I was back on track and not failing any of my classes I realized that my iPod was nowhere to be found. Now this might sound like a stupid reason, not being able to listen to music you can probably just YouTube isn't the end of the world after all. The thing is, I didn't use my iPod just for music, I needed it a lot more than that.

There are notes I have written as well as a timeline that keeps me from messing up where everything is and where everything happens in the next few chapters or so for this story. It's what lets me know what I've already written and what I had arranged to write next. It is what helps me keep track of the in-book details that I add to the story as well as some of my own insight I was planning on mixing in. I even have some outlines sketched out for the upcoming chapters, because I thought it would be useful for future me. That and it keeps everything in a safe organized place instead of flying around in my head.

Now, where do you think all those notes were written?

That's right, ON MY IPOD! Every. Single. One.

It was the only place I could have it really. On my phone I don't like having anything too personal in case I lose it somewhere (ironic right). And my laptop is already 6 years old and dying, I'm too scared that it will just blue screen me one day without warning. So… iPod seemed like the right call.

Now, before you say, 'well why didn't you just have a backup somewhere'. Let me tell you, I did... kinda.

I had a notebook in which I would write ideas and chapter titles and little things like that. Sometimes I would rewrite some of the notes in my iPod too just in case. But, fun fact about me, I'm obsessed with notebooks. I have an unnecessary amount of them and can't seem to part with them, although that could also label me as a hoarder… Let's just not analyze that part. So after a few days of looking in my messy room I decided the notebook was probably also lost in the void and it, along with my iPod, would probably just turn up on their own eventually. So I turned my attention to just starting a new timeline from scratch.

Guess how well that went.

Actually, not that bad, but it did take forever to get the baseline of work that I had before.

Anyway, I had to start everything over. Not just the timeline but new outlines to make, new things to edit, and new having to reread the book to remember when everything in that year happened (that part I didn't mind it was just very time consuming.)

So once I was back to where I had been I realized it had been a long time since the last chapter was released, a little over two months. But I had gone that long without posting before so I figured most of you would understand. Plus I had this idea in my head that if I just finished the chapter then it would be obvious that I wasn't giving up on the story.

But then, OF COURSE, some of our extended family decided this would be a good time to visit. And yeah, they're my family and I love them and yada yada but you try sitting in a room with your grandmother as you're typing and have her ask what exactly you're doing. I did not want to explain what a fanfiction was to my elderly grandmother thankyouverymuch. My family is very traditional and some can even be called uptight so, yeah, no thank you. I would rather not put myself through that.

But, whatever the circumstances, I don't see myself giving up on this story in the foreseeable future. I've been writing this thing forever and I feel committed to finishing it. Besides, I'm like halfway done! So don't worry, I won't give up so easily, there were just a few snags along the way. And like I said I should be posting the newest chapter within the next several days. I even found my iPod so I just need to go over some of the things I had written down and finish editing the chapter.

Oh! And do you want to know what the best part of it all is. My iPod was under my fucking bed! This entire time, I was sleeping just a foot away from it! Ugh! I even cleaned part of my room for that thing!

Well, at least I found it and things will be getting back to my makeshift schedule soon enough.
