~ Two weeks later ~

Peter arrived at The Tower a few hours early, not because he was nervous or anything. He just wanted to talk to Tony and see the team. He hasn't seen them since he told them about the twins last week. Their reaction was similar to May and Tony's, they weren't too happy he was pregnant at his age but they wanted to support him and the twins.

They were, understandably, furious with Wade. Natasha left soon after and no one has heard from her since, but everyone's pretty sure she went to find Wade and kill him a few dozen times. Clint and Bucky disappeared with her, but they came back a few days ago. They refused to tell anyone where they went, what happened, or why Natasha wasn't back yet.

The rest of the team continued on as usual, for the most part. They would text him more now, asking if he needed anything or they would send him pictures of, admittedly adorable, outfits or toys or something. It would make him feel all mushy and loved if it wasn't so annoying. He had a feeling the twins were going to be spoiled. That's not really a bad thing though, it just means that they have a lot of people who love them. Peter and the twins are going to be fine.

Peter walked into the common room, almost everyone was there and they greeted him with warm words of welcome.

"Hey guys, is Tony here?"

"He's in the lab with Steve." Sam answered.

"Thanks!" Peter said and turned to go back into the elevator.

"Better knock first!"

Peter shook his head, he knew that. He told Friday to take him to Tony's lab. Tony found a doctor that had previous experience in mutant pregnancies and male pregnancies, they were going to be meeting today and have his first real prenatal check up. He researched a little bit, so he sort of knew what to expect but he was still nervous. He can still hear the twins heartbeat, so he knows they're still alive and he didn't have a silent miscarriage, but he was worried about other things. Sometimes, in twin pregnancies, one twin absorbs more nutrients than the other one, causing them to be less healthy and smaller with some health issues. It doesn't happen all the time, so he probably doesn't have anything to worry about.

When he got to the lab, he noticed the windows were all blacked out. Meaning Tony put the lab in lockdown mode. Peter can still go in, he has the codes, but it would probably be better not to. Who knows what Tony's doing in there, especially since Steve was in there with him. You only walk in unannounced on those two once.

Peter pulled out his phone and shot him a quick text, telling him he was outside his lab and that he better not be doing anything weird in there. Afterwards, he clicked on Wade's contact. Peter sent him a text two weeks ago, right after Tony left.

Peter: I'm keeping my babies. If you don't want to be in their life, then I won't force you, but you can't have me without them. These are our children, Wade. Our twins. I never thought you would be the type of man who abandons his lover and children, if that's who you really are then don't bother coming back.

Maybe he shouldn't have put that last part in, but he was really pissed and he did mean it. He loves Wade, he probably always will, but he will never take him back if he doesn't want to be in his children's life. If he ever talks to him then maybe they could come to some agreement. Maybe Wade just needs a few weeks or months or even years to be the man who's ready to be a real father. Peter can wait, if that's the case. If he actually wanted to be their father, then Peter could wait until Wade was ready. He would tell the twins stories of their father, he would tell them how much he loved them but that he couldn't come home yet. And the day when Wade was ready they would all be a happy family of four.

The problem was that Wade didn't want them, he wanted the twins gone. So Peter isn't willing to wait. He isn't going to wait for a man who wants his own children dead. He'll give Wade a little longer, but if he doesn't contact him then Peter will erase Wade from his life. He'll leave the apartment, maybe move back in with May or with Tony. He'll keep Wade's number unblocked just in case, but he won't reach out.

His phone buzzed, Tony texted him saying it was fine to come in.

He punched his code in the keypad and walked slowly into the lab, Tony was sitting at his desk with Steve standing next to him. They were both trying to appear innocent and calm. Gross.

"You're both disgusting." Peter told them.

Tony opened his mouth in mock offense, but before he could say anything Steve started talking.

"We weren't expecting you just yet, Pete."

"I know, sorry." Peter said. "I wanted to come in a little early and talk to Tony."

"About the doctor?" Tony asked, understanding dawning his face.

"Yeah, I'm just a little nervous."

"That's normal, Petey. Steve and I will be with you when she gets here and, if you want, one or both of us can stay during the prenatal checkup."

"I'll think about that, thanks dad." Having Tony there would make him feel better, and Steve was always good at reading people and his mom was a nurse, he might be able to tell if something was off. "Can I just hang in here until she gets here?"

"Of course, Pete. Hey, what do you think about mini spider suits for the twins?"

Peter narrowed his eyes at Tony. "Why would they need that?"

"Because then they'll be spiderbabies!" Tony exclaimed excitedly. "Think about it, a baby suit that grows with them and has all the safety features yours does but minus the webs! Genius, right?"

"They do not need a spider suit, Tony." Peter told him sternly. "I don't even know if I'm going to tell them I'm Spider-Man."

"That's probably a good thing," Steve hummed thoughtfully. "Kids like to talk, especially about things they aren't supposed to."

"Yeah but they're going to be raised around The Avengers." Tony pointed out. "Their grandpa is Iron Man!"

"Yeah, but the whole world knows who The Avengers are, only a few people know who Spider-Man is and he rarely fights with you." Peter said.

"And if they have spider abilities?" Tony asked. "They'll figure out who you are pretty quickly."

Peter didn't know how to respond to that.

"You don't have to have this part figured out just yet, Pete." Steve told him quietly. "We don't know if your abilities will be passed down or if they'll even have powers. You can figure that part out if it ever happens."

"Thanks, Steve." Peter turned to look at Tony. "No mini Spider-Man suits."

"Fine." Tony pouted. "What about mini Iron Man suits?"

Peter sighed. It's going to be a long few hours.

When the doctor finally arrived Peter, Tony, and Steve gathered in one of the unused Medical Rooms to wait for her. Tony had made sure everything they needed was already there and set up. Peter had just sat down on the table when she walked in.

"Hello, everyone." She said cheerfully. She had a big smile and was dressed in normal jeans and a nice shirt. She looked like a nice woman. "My name is Samantha Green, you can call me Dr. Green or just Sami."

"Hello, Dr. Green. I'm Tony Stark, this is Steve Rogers and my son Peter." Peter waved from his seat. "So, how is this going to work?"

"It's pretty simple, first I'm going to take Peter's vital signs, then I'm just going to ask Peter some questions, then we're going to determine when the babies are due, maybe hear their heartbeats, do a physical portion, get some blood work done. If you want, we can do a screening too."

Peter took a deep breath. "That sounds like a lot."

"The first prenatal checkup is always longer, because there's so much to do. Your next one shouldn't take as long." Dr. Green responded. "Do you have any questions for me before we begin?"

"Not yet, but I probably will later."

"Alright, don't be afraid to ask them. Do you want your father and Steve to stay or leave?"

"They can stay."

Dr. Green nodded. "Let's get started then. First, I'm going to take your vital signs and I have some questions I need to ask about your medical history. Okay?"

Peter nodded. Dr. Green quickly took weight and blood pressure and wrote them down. "Okay, are you currently on any medication?"

Peter shook his head. She continued to ask question after question. About his medical history, his family's medical history, his fertility history, if he was taking any medications, about his mutation. It was a lot.

"Have you ever been pregnant before?" She asked softly. "This includes stillbirths, miscarriages or abortions."

Peter flinched softly. "No. I've been very careful to avoid getting pregnant, the man I was with wasn't supposed to be able to have kids."

Dr. Greene nodded. "Do you know about his medical history?"

"Um, yeah, some." Peter responded, a little uncomfortable. "He was diagnosed with cancer in his liver, lungs, prostate and brain when he was 17 and he had a lot of mental issues. Um, he said he had ADHD, maniac depression disorder and even some schizophrenia. He used to talk to voices in his head, he called them boxes, but he hasn't done that in a long time. He was getting better."

Dr. Green was looking at him. "Okay. Was he taking any medications for the cancer or mental issues?"

"No," This is where it got tricky, he had to be honest with his doctor so she needed to know that he was talking about Deadpool but he really didn't want to just say that outright. "He's a mutant, he has a really good healing factor so he never really needed any medication and he was getting better mentally."

"Alright. Peter, I'm going to ask you a question and I need you to be honest with me, okay?" Peter nodded. "Is the man you're talking about Deadpool?"

Peter nodded again, looking at Tony. He smiled at him from where he and Steve were standing and mouthed "It's okay."

"Okay, I'm going to ask another question. Please be honest with me. Did you consent to having sex with him?"

"Yes!" Peter screamed out. Wade had a lot of issues, but he wasn't a rapist. "Wade and I have been friends for years, we started dating when I turned 18."

"Okay, I just had to make sure. Thank you for being honest with me." Dr. Green replied calmly. "One more question, how old is Wade?"

"He's 23."

Dr. Green nodded and made a few more notes. "Alright, no more questions for now. I'm going to perform an ultrasound, just to check on the twins and give you an estimated due date. That sound good?"

Peter nodded, he knew what to expect for this part. It was similar to how the clinic did it. Soon enough, he was looking at his twins on the monitor. They were a lot more developed now, before he could only just make out the body and limbs, now he can see it all more clearly. They were moving around a lot more too.

"Wow." He whispered softly.

"They seem to be developing wonderfully. Would you like to hear the heartbeat?"

Peter nodded. The last time he was asked that question, he was terrified and didn't want to hear it. Now, he was still scared but also really happy. The soft, fast sound of their heart filled the room. Tony looked over at him, his face full of joy. Steve looked to be happy as well.

"Beautiful." Tony whispered.

"I can get a few of these printed out for you." Dr. Green said, smiling at them. "I won't be able to tell you exactly when you're due because men don't have a visible menstrual cycle, but I can make an educated guess. You're about 11 weeks along, so your due date is in about 6 months."

The next part of the checkup went by quickly, Dr. Green took some of his blood, she told Tony he can do the blood work if he liked or she could send it to a trustworthy colleague. Then he peed in a cup.

Then they talked about doing a fetal screening.

"A screening is a blood test, we can use this to determine if the twins are at risk for Down syndrome or trisomy 18."

"What's trisomy 18?" Peter asked, he knew what Down syndrome was but he's never heard of trisomy 18.

"Trisomy 18, also called Edwards syndrome, is a chromosomal condition. It's when babies have an extra chromosome 18 in some or all of the body's cells. Most babies diagnosed with this don't survive to birth or make it past their first month."

"Oh." Peter whispered. He looked at Tony and Steve, who had been quiet this entire time. "Do you think I should check?"

"Yes," Tony nodded. "I think it would be wise, that way you can prepare yourself."

"I don't think so." Steve shook his head. "Maybe for trisomy 18, but what difference does it make if one or both of the twins has Down syndrome? It's up to you though, Pete."

"Yeah, do you want to get the screening done?" Tony asked, looking at him.

"I don't know." Peter admitted. They both made good points. Peter won't care if the twins have Down syndrome, but it would be beneficial to know before they're born so he can prepare. He has to know if they have trisomy 18, though. He just has to.

"I can also check the gender." Dr. Green stated. "We can do a full screening, that way you know. It will only tell you if you're at risk, if it comes back positive then we can do a different test to know for sure. I would be doing a noninvasive prenatal screen. I already have your blood, so it poses no risk for the twins."

"How does that work?" Steve asked.

"That's a good question. This test looks at pieces of cell free DNA from the placenta that are present in Peter's bloodstream." Dr. Green explained patiently.

"How long would it take to get the results?" Tony asked. Peter nodded, he wanted to know that too.

"It can take anywhere from 8 to 14 days."

"Okay," Peter nodded. "Let's do it."

"Alright. Remember, this does not diagnose the twins with anything. It's just a screening." Dr. Green reminded him, making more notes.

Peter nodded to show he understood.

"Alright, one more thing, then we're done." Dr. Green said with a smile. "Have you thought about your birth plan yet?"

"Uh, not really." Peter admitted. "You're going to deliver them, right?"

Dr. Green nodded. "If you want, I can help you deliver."

"Then what else do I need?"

"Birth plans are best kept simple, but you need to have the basics down. Where you want to give birth, who you want there. Think about the atmosphere, do you want music playing or silence? That's just a few of the things you need to consider, I have a pamphlet that has more if you would like, or you can just search it up."

"I'll take the pamphlet, thank you."

Dr. Green smiled and walked over to her bag to get him the pamphlet. "Take your time while making it, a birthing plan is meant to make you the most comfortable. When you're finished, I'll need a copy."

Peter nodded. "Is there anything else?"

"No, we're all done." Dr. Green told him. "Do you have any questions before I leave?"

"A few." Peter told her. "What are the chances of the twins being a mutant?"

"Well," Dr. Greene hummed. "Since both you and the father are mutants the chances are pretty high, but I won't be able to test for the gene until after they're born. If they do have the X-Gene, then they'll have similar abilities to you or Wade."

"Okay." Peter responded. So twins are most likely going to have abilities. "When would they mutate?"

"That depends on them. Some mutate at an early age, others never do."

"Right." That was helpful. "I can't go out on patrol, can I?"

"You shouldn't." Dr. Green said. "It's very dangerous for the twins. Even just swinging around can harm them, I've seen footage of you, you do a lot of flips, you could accidentally make the umbilical cord wrap around their neck or injure them."

Peter nodded. He already knew he shouldn't go on patrol, he was just making sure. Not swinging was good to know, he wouldn't have gone out anyway but still. "I think that's it, thank you."

"Of course," Dr. Green said warmly,

"When should he have the next check up?" Steve asked. Oh yeah, that was important.

"We'll meet again in four weeks." She responded, then gave Peter her card and some copies of the ultrasound. "Call me if you have any more questions. Goodbye, Peter. Mr. Stark, Mr. Rogers."

And just like that, his first official prenatal checkup was over.

"Well, she was nice." Tony said, giving Peter a hug. "How are you, kid?"

"I'm good. That was good." Peter looked down at his ultrasound, they were growing so much and soon they would be in his arms. He gave one to Tony. "I still need to talk to Clint and Bucky about going on patrol for me."

"Go do that, kiddo. I'm putting this on the fridge. First picture of my grandkids." Tony had a huge smile on his face as he walked out of the room. Steve rolled his eyes playfully at Peter and followed him out.

Peter sat for a few more minutes, rubbing his stomach. He was showing a little more now, his shirt still covers the bump but if he pulls it across his stomach tightly or takes it off his bump is now just visible to the naked eye. "I love you two, I can't wait to hold you for real."

He got up and went to find Clint and Bucky. Knowing them, they were in the shooting range having another competition to see who's actually the greatest marksman.

"Hey, Fri. Where are Clint and Bucky?"

"Agent Barton and Sergeant Barnes are at the shooting range."

"Thank you!" He called it. He hummed softly to himself as he made his way over there. They were in the middle of changing weapons, from guns to knives from the looks of it. Peter leaned against the wall. "Pretty sure you aren't supposed to be in here, Barton."

Clint jumped, Bucky didn't, he laughed instead.

"Peter!" Clint shouted. "Don't tell Steve."

"No promises." Peter said cheekily.

"You fucking brat." Clint said. "Did you need something?"

"Yeah. Um. So, you know how I'm pregnant?"

Clint made an over the top shocked expression and opened his mouth to say something when Bucky smacked the back of his head.

"Yes, is everything okay with the baby?" Bucky asked, concerned.

"Oh yeah, everything is great. I was just curious if, well." Peter stuttered out. "I can't go out as Spider-Man anymore, it's too dangerous for the twins. So I was just wondering if you two would mind going out and patrolling for me?"

"Oh my fucking God yes!" Clint exclaimed excitedly. "I'm so bored, no one is letting me do anything!"

"Because you broke half your fingers." Bucky told him. "I'd be happy too, Peter. Clint will probably break the rest of his bones if I'm not there."

"I would not!" Clint whined. Bucky stared at him. "Not all of them."

"Sure, pal."

"Thanks, guys. It really means a lot." Peter told them. "I usually patrol in the morning for an hour and at night for two or three, but you can go whenever."

Bucky nodded and Clint gave him a thumbs up. Peter gave them a smile and left, he was exhausted. He told Friday to tell everyone he said goodbye, then made his way back home.

As soon as he got there, he laid down on his bed. It wasn't late, it was barely even 3 pm, but he was tired and he deserved a nap. Everything was going great. Clint and Bucky are going to take over patrolling for the foreseeable future, the twins are healthy and in one week he would know their gender, if he wanted to. He still wasn't sure if he wanted it to be a surprise or not. Maybe he would have Tony find out. No, he would never be able to keep it a secret. He could have Natasha be the one to find out, she can keep it a secret. That way he can do a gender reveal party and invite Ned and MJ. Ned was really excited for him, Peter was going to ask him to be the twins' godfather.

Everything was perfect.

~ Two Months Later ~

Wade: Hey baby boy,

Wade: I'm really sorry I haven't been answering your calls. I was off-world, I'm really confused about this mess and I'm not sure what to do.

Wade: I'm glad you kept them, I am. I just don't know if I can be their father.

Wade: I just need some time to think about this.
