Nightfall is a mute Nightwing-Rainwing hybrid that has the strange ability to broadcast to other's minds, as well as reading them. That is how they communicate.

Chapter 1: The Journey

Rain pattered against a small hut in the middle of the rainforest. A gust of wind struck and pushed a few large green leaves to the side, allowing droplets to fall onto a small nest of sleeping parrots, startling them awake and making them squawk crazily. The noise rose a dragon lying inside the hut, and the dragon groggily went over to the door to see what had startled them. Nightfall looked outside and didn't see anything, but they were too excited to go back to sleep. It's the day! It's finally here! Nightfall had been prepping supplies for the trip to Jade Mountain for a whole month now and was really too excited. Remember, they might not want me to go there. You don't know what their feelings are about hybrids. Nightfall had been teased all their life, until they moved to a clearing in the middle of the rainforest. They were teased for being a hybrid, and not just that. They had also been teased for being an orphan, too smart, and mainly, for the fact that they were non-binary. Their parents had died mysteriously, disappearing, never to be seen again. Nightfall shook their worries out of their head and gathered their supplies, which included a week's worth of food, water, along with some of their favorite scrolls and some wooden spears and a wood-and-vine bow, and twenty arrows. Nightfall was an inventor, and had some larger, more powerful weapons, but they were too big to carry or put in their travel bag. The weapons were more of an reassurance than a tool, though Nightfall would use them if they had to. Nightfall finished up gathering the supplies and patted their hut. Thank you for all that you have done for me, he thought then took off into the orange-pink sky.

The flight was long and hard. Nightfall had to glide down to the ground once, but they finally made it to the foot of Jade Mountain. Nightfall decided they would fly up to the mountain in the morning, and register then. Nightfall curled into a ball in a tree hollow and fell asleep slowly, and even then they had nightmares about what would happen tomorrow.
