Chapter 17
It was the 4th of July, Barbara took control of everything party related, leaving Arizona sitting around on the deck with a beer. Setting her beer down on the table she heard someone cough, turning her head, she saw Teddy. "hey you're back"
"yeah" Teddy smiled, a smile Arizona knew all too well
"I take it by the look on your face everything is good?"
"yup" Teddy said making her way to the vacant chair next to Arizona. "got another one of those?" she nodded towards the beer.
"in the fridge I think, unless mom moved them. I'm having trouble finding anything since she's been here" the girls both laughed, knowing how their mother was. Teddy was about to get up when April appeared, with a drink handing it to her. "thanks baby" Teddy smiled, April smiled back.
"welcome back guys" Arizona smiled she was truly happy for her sister, she knew that April and Teddy shared a bond no one could break, not like hers and Callie's, no her bond with Callie was different, it felt as if Callie and Arizona shared the same heart, mind and body. Arizona often found she knew what Callie was thinking before she said it, and vice versa, which scared the both of them. Shaking her head "are you back to stay?"
"if you'll have us" April said making herself comfortable on Teddy's lap
"of course, we'll have you" Callie smiled standing next to Arizona "I thought you could use another, your mom is wondering when everyone will get here"
"well, I'm not entirely sure who's all coming" Arizona giggled, she had invited what was left of her team, and a few others from the show, and of course the other 3 judges
"well Miley will be here" Teddy giggled thinking about Arizona's earlier comment on how Blake was giving her shit for having a crush on Callie.
"you know it" Arizona Addyined in on the laugh
"what's so funny?" Callie ask confused with Teddy and Arizona she often felt like she was out of the loop, but tried to make the best of it. Arizona looked at Teddy a 'should I tell her' look on her face, as Teddy nodded "Blake and Adam were giving her shit about having a crush on you"
"oh" Callie said, thinking for a bit "wait what?" the other three let out a laugh
"I think she just enAddyys hanging out with us" Arizona smiled reaching for Callie, pulling her down to her lap, as she kissed her cheek. Whispering in her ear "or maybe she does have a crush on you, who knows" Callie pulled back giving Arizona a look "I mean look at you, you're hot" Arizona no sooner got the last part out before Callie smacked her shoulder. "ouch"
"well don't say shit like that and I wouldn't hit you" Callie smirked
"well" Arizona smiled holding her shoulder
"I have to agree with my sissy, sorry Callie" Teddy said, Callie looked at her Teddy just smiled and gave April a kiss whispering "but I only have eyes for you"
"corny" Arizona laughed, wrapping her arms around Callie.
"don't act like you don't say shit like that" Teddy said
"I'm not, but it sounds funny coming from you" Arizona shot back, and smiled, Teddy met Arizona's eyes and gave her a wink
"I think you both are corny, but I happen to like seeing that side of both of you" Callie said leaning into Arizona's shoulder, they heard the doorbell ring. "baby, I should get up, you know before mom embarrasses me with whoever is at the door"
"its probably Miley here for Callie" Teddy laughed
"maybe" Arizona said making her way into the house, just as her mother pulled open the door, she saw Addison, one of Arizona's teammates "hey you made it" Arizona smiled
"yeah, I decided not to go home after all" Addison smiled
"well, come on in, this is my mom" Arizona nodded towards Barbara
"hello Mrs. Robbins" Addison said reaching out her hand to shake Barbara's
"please call me Barbara" Barbara smiled taking her hand "and you would be?"
"mom, this is Addison, she's one of my team members"
"oh" Barbara smiled "it's nice to meet you Addison"
"please call me Addy" Addison smiled
"would you like something to drink?" Arizona asked with a smile
"I brought my own" she smiled holding up the 6 pack of beer she had in her hands
"let me put those in the cooler for you" Barbara said taking them out of her hand, Addy quickly grabbed one out of the pack before Barbara disappeared with the rest.
"well come on, no one else is here yet, if they are even coming" Arizona said leading Addison out to the deck, where she had just left everyone. "Addy, this is my sister Teddy and her wife April" she smiled seeing Teddy and April were still in the same position they were in when she left. "and this beauty right here" she reached for Callie's hand "is my wife Callie"
"it's nice to meet you" Callie said reaching out her hand "Arizona talks great things about you"
"thank you, I'm happy to finally meet you, Arizona never stops talking about you" Addy winked.
"yeah that happens" Callie smiled "please have a seat" she added pointing to an empty chair. Addy smiled and took a seat
"you know Cal, Addy is the one you helped me pick" Arizona smiled
"huh?" Callie looked at her confused, seemed to be happening a lot today, Callie being confused
"when you guys came to the blinds, she was the last one to fill my team"
"oh right" Callie smiled
"so I have you to thank if I win?" Addy laughed
"when" Arizona said, Addy looked at her confused "when you win"
"she thinks I'll win" Addy laughed
"ok, you know I love all you guys and I think everyone is great, but you, I heard something in you with the first note you sang" Arizona began to explain
"you just said Callie told you to turn around, I'm confused" Addison laughed
"well" Arizona said getting a little uncomfortable at the conversation "I had made up my mind before that, Callie just encouraged me to turn around" she hoped that would be enough to get the conversation moving in a different direction.
"ok then" Addy smiled, seeing Arizona was uncomfortable "I like your house"
"thanks, I'm renting it while I'm here" Arizona smiled
"I think she should look into buying it" Callie said
"really?" Arizona said, Callie hadn't mentioned anything about her buying the house before. "you want to move to LA?"
"well no, we are in the process of buying The Coffee House, remember" Callie smiled "but it'd be nice to have somewhere to go on vacation, that doesn't cost an ass ton of money" Arizona nodded and gave her a smile "I'll talk to Gary about it"
"good" Callie smiled
"so Addy, is Arizona being nice to you?" Teddy asked
"she's amazing, I couldn't ask for a better coach"
"how many are left?" April asked, wishing the show would hurry up and get over with so she could have her best friend back home, normally when Arizona was gone she was with her, so she too was feeling a little lost without Arizona.
"um" Addy said looking at Arizona who smiled "I have 2, Blake has 2, Adam has" she paused to think when she heard "Adam has 3 left and I have 2" from the doorway. Arizona turned and smiled her hello to the intruder. "Addy, I thought you said you were going home?" Miley said as she made her way to the group.
"yeah, I was going to, but decided last minute I'd stay" Addy smiled "besides who could pass up a party at a beach house? Not this midwestern girl"
"true" Miley nodded with a smile
"April just asked me how many there was left" Arizona said
"awesome" Miley smiled making herself at home
"on our next show two are going home" Arizona said looking over at Addy, "one of them better not be you"
"I don't think it will be" Miley chimed in and smiled.
"see you even have the support of another judge" Arizona laughed
"alright, alright, enough shop talk" Addy laughed "I'd like to hear about you two" she leaned closer to Arizona "how'd you meet, how long have you been together"
"well" Arizona said looking at Callie with a smile that went from ear to ear
"wow" Addy laughed

"you are obviously deeply in love"
"yes, yes I am" Arizona pulled Callie's hand to her mouth and placed a soft kiss on it
"so back to your story, I wanna hear it all" Addy smiled as she sat back in her chair taking a drink
"not much to tell" Arizona said reaching for Callie's hand
"yes, there is" Callie smiled "we met at The Coffee House" she began
"that's the one you're in the process of buying?" Addy questioned, Arizona nodded looking at Miley who had her eyes lock on Callie as she spoke, Arizona couldn't help but laugh to herself "yes, it is" Callie smiled "I know you can't tell by how I am now, but I was the one to ask her out"
"psh yeah" Teddy let out a laugh remembering that day
"shut it" Callie laughed
"wait The Coffee House, I remember reading that's where you got discovered" Addy stated
"it was, after Callie and I got together, the manager Richard, decided he wanted to liven the place up having live music on the weekends, so I went and tried out, and well"
"hmm" Addy said reaching forward for her drink "well maybe I can come play there sometime"
"no maybe about it, I'll set it up" Arizona smiled, thinking she had a friend for life, Addison wasn't much younger than the group, except April of course.
"so" Addy motioned to go on with the story
"we've had our setbacks" Arizona looked at Callie, squeezing her hand
"we were apart for 2 years" Callie added "even though it hurt, I wouldn't change it for the world, once we got back together" Callie stopped looking in Arizona's eyes, as Arizona went on "everything just fell into place, we got married a couple weeks later, and well here we are"
"wait so this happened recently?"
"yep" Callie smiled still looking in Arizona's pools of blue
"with in the last year" Arizona smiled
"so" Addy asked confused "how long were you together before the split?"
"what was it baby?" Arizona asked "2 years?"
"3" Callie smiled finally breaking eye contact
"ah" Addy said looking over at Teddy "you two are sisters?"
"yeah" Teddy laughed "can't you tell?"
"well honestly, not really, I mean you have a few of the same features, and sound a lot alike but if I would have just met the both of you I wouldn't be able to tell"
"hmm" Teddy laughed "I'm actually adopted" she shrugged
"oh wow" Addison said
"I was 2 when my biological parents were both killed" Teddy shrugged
"our parents were close, and sadly there was no other family to take her" Arizona said looking at her sister
"so here we are now" Teddy smiled
"actually you wouldn't' be able to tell that they aren't blood related" April laughed "you're Arizona's manager?" Addy asked, changing the subject she was eager to get to know everyone, it surprised Arizona how out going she was, on the show she was the one that would sit quietly and not say much.
"I am" April smiled and nodded
"well if this doesn't work out now I have a hook up" Addy winked
"I got your back" Arizona smiled
"I'll see what I can do" April winked
"why don't you wait and see how the rest of the season goes" Miley piped in "you could win, who knows"
"hey, I'm just keeping my options open" Addy smiled, Miley nodded
"Arizona, I was wondering when you wanted me to start cooking" Carlos asked as he appeared in front of the group.
"um" Arizona looked around "I guess whenever you want" she smiled "oh Carlos, this is Miley, and Addison, I don't think Miley needs an introduction, but Addison is one of two left on my team. Guys this is Carlos, Callie's dad"
Carlos let out a chuckle "no she doesn't" he reached out his hand to Miley "it's nice to meet you"
"same here" she smiled taking his hand Carlos turned toward Addy "nice to meet you too Addison, is Arizona treating you alright?"
"she's the best" Addy smiled taking his hand
"well I'll let your mom know to get stuff going, I'll be out shortly to fire up the good ol' grill"
"dad" Callie laughed, he winked at her and disappeared into the house.
"that was nothing wait until our dad comes out" Teddy chuckled, Arizona laughed rolling her eyes "he likes to embarrass us any chance he gets, our mom is just the same"
"especially when they've been drinking" Teddy rolled her eyes thinking about the many times in the past they've embarrassed her. "and here they come"
"Arizona honey, do you have a" Barbara stopped mid-sentence taking a look at the group all she could do was smile
"do I have a what?"
"ah, nothing" Barbara smiled
"Barbara would you like some help? I'm the one who organized the kitchen maybe I can find what you're looking for" April offered kissing Teddy on the cheek and standing up, Barbara nodded, turning on her heal and heading into the house with April quickly following.
"wow what was that?" Teddy laughed
"I think she got star structed" Arizona said looking at Miley "way to go you made my mom speechless"
"I didn't mean too" Miley laughed
"she's always had a thing for your dad, so I'm sure meeting you sent her over the edge" Teddy said
"my dad huh?" Miley smiled "how long is she here for?"
"until next Monday" Teddy sighed "which reminds me I wanted to talk to you about something sissy, but it can wait" Arizona nodded with a confused look on her face.
"well, he's going to be coming on Wednesday, maybe I can set something up for her to meet him"
"oh my god, she'd love that" Arizona said looking at Teddy who was laughing "what's so funny"
"picture mom meeting him, she's going to be all over him"
"yeah, we'll have to make sure to record it" Arizona laughed "Miley that'd be awesome, oh she's planning some sort of birthday celebration for us" Arizona added using air quotes
"oh" Miley smiled "when's your birthday?"
"well mine is August 2nd and Callie's the 7th" Arizona said she gave Callie a smile
"and mine is a week before" Teddy said
"oh so not too far away" Miley smiled "when is she thinking?"
"I'm not sure, I think Saturday" Arizona rolled her eyes
"hey it'll be fun" Teddy chimed in "I wanted to go to Disney Land again, but that idea was nixed"
"good" Miley laughed
"what's wrong with Disney Land?" Addy asked "I was hoping to go while I was out here but haven't had a chance yet, that and I don't want to go alone"
"I'll go with you" Teddy almost jumped up
"you're going home" Arizona said
"well" Teddy shrugged "that's what I wanted to talk to you about" she smiled
"oh god" Arizona rolled her eyes "I'd love the company but with"
"I already talked to April she thinks it'd be a good idea, and maybe a break is what we need" Teddy said, not really wanting to get into her personal life in front of people she didn't know, but since the conversation was already started she might as well finish it.
"well" Arizona said looking at Callie "I'd love for you to stay" she smiled
"good it's settled then" Teddy smiled "and we'll talk later about Disney Land" Addy nodded, as Carlos walked out to start the grill

"oh my god, I have an idea" Arizona said she was feeling a little tipsy "Teds where's that karaoke machine?"
"not that thing again" Miley rolled her eyes
"come on, it'll be fun" Arizona called out behind her following Teddy into the house
"well this should be entertaining" Callie smiled
"yeah" Miley laughed remembering the last time she was there.
"there's no place to set it up out here" Teddy said as she carried it out to the deck
"just find a place to plug it in, we don't need the tv" Arizona said holding up her guitar and notebook
"oh she wrote a new song" April clapped
"I did" Arizona smiled as she sat down, placing her guitar on her knee, she looked around
"I suppose you want me to hold the mic for you" Teddy laughed
"um" Arizona giggled "if you wouldn't mind"

"now remember this is the rough graph, go easy on me" she reached down opening her notebook and began to strum, finding the right notes. She took a deep breath before she began

As she sang she felt Callie's eyes glued to her. She glanced up a few times making eye contact with her wife, smiling seeing the unshed tears in Callie's eyes. As Arizona sang the last notes, everyone was quiet. Arizona and Callie locked eyes, Callie smiled, she never dreamed someone would write a song about her, but Arizona had done it a few times, but this song, it hit her in a way none of her other songs had. Seeing the spell Callie was under Teddy spoke first "wow, Zo, that was amazing" Arizona didn't hear a word of it, her eyes still locked on Callie's, that were filled with the unshed tears she was holding "when did you write it" Teddy asked. Arizona cleared her throat "um, last week"
"well I for one think it's amazing" April chimed in
"you just want me back in to record" Arizona smiled setting her guitar off to the side
"yeah" April smiled "but as your manager, neither one of us makes money if you don't"
"yeah just be patient" Arizona said waving her off
"I'll make sure she gets in as soon as she's back, home, where she belongs" Callie said standing up and walking to Arizona who pulled her down on her lap.
"well, I loved the song" Miley smiled
"where are they going to be shooting the fireworks off from?" Addy asked changing the subject having the feeling it's what Arizona wanted
"there's this island that's about a mile out" Arizona said pointing towards the water, "I guess that's where they are doing it"
"that's awesome" Addy smiled
"I looked into renting a boat, so we could go out on the water and watch them, but I got too busy and forgot to get back to the guy in time"
"well way to go" Miley laughed
"I thought maybe we could grab some blankets and go sit on the beach"
"sounds like a plan to me" Teddy said jumping up and going into the house, coming back with a pile of blankets. "alright good to go" Teddy smiled as she made her way down the stairs, that led to the beach. Almost falling a few times in her not so sober state.

Cuddling on the blanket Arizona had her legs wrapped around Callie as Callie leaned into her, Arizona wrapped her arms tight and kissed her cheek. Laying her chin on Callie's shoulder Arizona smiled and whispered "what time is your appointment?"
"not until the afternoon" Callie smiled
"did you want me to go with you?" Arizona asked, not really sure what she wanted the answer to be, but she knew she wanted to spend as much time with her wife as she could.
"no" Callie turned her head to look at her, her eyes shined in the moon light "but I was thinking maybe you and I could have lunch before"
"why Calliope Robbins are you asking me on a date?" Arizona joked
"stop" Callie laughed hitting her arm, leaning in placing a kiss on Arizona's cheek "I think I already did that years ago"
"lunch sounds great baby" Arizona pulled her close this time kissing her lips, as the kiss started to deepen they heard the first bang of the fireworks.
"wow, I've heard of a kiss being like fireworks but never actually had one" Callie laughed, Arizona just chuckled as she pulled Callie back to the position they were in before. Both looking out over the water watching the light show in the sky. Arizona looked over at her sister, who had April in the same position she and Callie were in. Teddy looked up as they caught each other's eyes, they shared a smile, this is how it's supposed to be. The two couples, happy, surrounded by family, and friends, nothing would compare. Arizona smiled, as she placed a soft kiss on Callie's cheek, "I love you" she whispered softly.
"I love you too" Callie replied, as they both sighed happily.
