Chapter 23

Callie waited patiently in the waiting room of M. A. Publishing. She had a smile on her face, for the first time, she was excited about her book being published. She had a few ideas on her next one but wasn't quite ready to start it yet. "Callie" she heard Alex's voice say

"hello" she smiled standing up.

"come on back" he smiled and nodded towards the hallway that led to his office. "did you have a good flight?"

"I've been here since Saturday" Callie smiled as she took a seat.

"I take it Arizona is still here"

"yeah" Callie rolled her eyes

"how much longer?"

"I'm not entirely sure to be honest" Callie shrugged

"well I'm glad you were able to come and meet with me, I would have come to you if I had too"

"with Arizona still out here, it gave me a reason to come out and see her" Callie smiled

"good" he said shuffling some papers on his desk "now for the reason I asked you here" he smiled as he went on, Callie listened intently, taking in all his words, asking questions where it was fit. "alright with that, we're good to go" he smiled

"oh I almost forgot" Callie smiled reaching for her bag "I have something for you, or for your daughter rather" she pulled out a copy of Arizona's last album, handing it to him "I don't know if she has it, if she's as big of fan as you have said then she probably does" she smiled, as Alex nodded "but I guarantee this one will be better" Callie nodded for him to open the case where he found an inscription written on the inside

Megan,

My wife tells me you are a huge fan, I want to thank you for that. Enjoy this album, there is an extra song on it that wasn't on the original. I hope to meet you someday.

Arizona Robbins

"wow I haven't even told her that I'm working with you yet" he smiled "she's going to flip, thank you"

"no need to thank me" Callie smiled "Arizona loves to interact with her younger fans"

"we'll have to set something up" Alex smiled "Megan would love to meet her"

"Arizona would love that" Callie said looking at her phone seeing a text from Arizona.

"we're done here" he smiled "thank you for meeting with me"

"it was no problem like I said it gave me a chance to come out and see Arizona" Callie smiled, she saw Alex stand from behind his desk, as he walked her out. Shaking his hand at the door. Callie stepped out into the warm California sun, stopping to put on her sunglasses, she spotted the car. Tightening the grip on her bag she made her way to the car, the driver, his name was Fred, or Bob, or maybe Robert, she wasn't sure, stepped out to open the door for her. Smiling her thank you, she climbed in making herself comfortable. Pulling out her phone rereading the text from Arizona she smiled. "where to Mrs. Robbins"

"um" Callie said looking at the time, knowing Arizona wouldn't be home for a few more hours "I have an idea" she smiled looking up, and went on as to where she would like to go. An hour later found her pulling up outside the house.

"I'll help you bring these in" he smiled

"I'm sorry I can't quite remember your name" she said feeling ashamed "Arizona has had so many drivers since she's been here"

He smiled and laughed "yes she has. No worries, my name is Robert"

"I'll remember now" Callie smiled thinking although I don't know how much more I'll be seeing him, but I'll try and remember.

"I'm looking forward to reading your book" he said making their way to the door

"thank you, it should be out by Christmas time"

"I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it"

"I hope you aren't disappointed" Callie smiled leading him into the house, "you can put that there" she nodded to the table

"anything else Mrs. Robbins?" he asked with a smile

"no thank you for everything"

"it's my pleasure, I sure hope the other Mrs. Robbins likes her surprise" he smiled, turning on his heels and leaving the house. Leaving Callie standing there with her thoughts 'I hope she does too' Callie was busy putting everything she had just purchased away, music blaring from her phone which sat on the counter, not paying much attention, singing and dancing, she turned around, almost having a heart attack.

"wow you sure know how to move, no wonder my sister loves you" Teddy laughed

"you scared the shit out of me, I didn't think you were home"

"yeah, I've been, um, in my room"

"everything alright?" Callie asked seeing the look on Teddy's face

"yeah" she smiled "everything is amazing"

"good"

"what you got going on here?" Teddy nodded to the pile still on the table

"um, a surprise for Arizona, I'm going to try and cook tonight"

"try huh?"

"yeah" they both shared a laugh

"want some help? I'm kind of bored, Arizona wouldn't let me go with today, something about not letting anyone see what they are doing"

"sure" Callie smiled nodding to the mess on the table.

"how was your meeting" Teddy asked trying to keep the small talk going.

"it went good, everything is set for a December release, I'll find out exactly when in a few months"

"that's awesome Callie I'm so proud of you"

"listen" Callie said setting the knife she was holding on the counter and looking at Teddy "I'm sorry I freaked out"

"you had every right too, I'm sorry I went behind your back" Teddy said looking down

"don't be" Callie reached over to touch Teddy's arm "I want to thank you, if it weren't for you"

"I got it" Teddy looked up in Callie's eyes they shared a smile "we better get started" Callie nodded, and they set to work.

A couple hours later the house was smelling amazing, Teddy and Callie were putting the finishing touches on the table when they heard the door open Arizona calling out "Lucy I'm home" with Addy laughing

"they are perfect together" Teddy laughed as she left the room meeting Addy in the living room in a hug.

"what smells so good?" Arizona asked standing in the doorway of the kitchen

"that would be you" Callie turned around smiling

"I don't know about that" Arizona smiled making her way to Callie looking around the kitchen before taking her wife in her arms, kissing her "how was your meeting?"

"good" she didn't go into any more detail, closing her eyes enjoying being in Arizona's arms

"just good"

"mmhmm" Callie pulled away, looking around the kitchen "everything is good, I need a smoke" she smiled making her way out to the deck. The late day sun, making it hot, but the breeze from the water made it bearable. Callie sat down on the chair looking out over the water, when she heard Arizona come out. She smiled knowing she wouldn't be far behind her.

"damn it's hot" Arizona commented

"just keep this in mind in January" Callie laughed

"exactly why I'd like to find a place out here, you know when the winter gets too much"

"that sounds like an amazing idea, but with running our own business I'm not sure how often we will get away"

"mm, good point, we'll figure something out" Arizona smiled "what's for dinner? It smells pretty good in there"

"you'll see" Callie placed a kiss on Arizona's cheek and headed into the house, leaving Arizona standing there stunned.

xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Callie sat at the table, looking at Arizona. There were still days where she felt as if she was living in a dream world. Arizona just didn't feel real, she was afraid she'd wake up all alone, not having talked to the woman that had swept her way into her heart all those years ago.

xxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Arizona's here" Meredith winked

"thanks captain obvious, I can see that" Callie said looking at the door as Arizona walked through, sharing a smile as Arizona saw her.

"awe your face is red" Meredith went on

"will you shut it"

"nope, I love giving you shit" Meredith whispered "it's fun to see you like this"

"glad my pain is your gain" Callie rolled her eyes, stepping closer to the counter

"hi beautiful" Arizona smiled

"hi yourself" Callie blushed "you want something? I shouldn't be too much longer"

"sure" Arizona smiled that smile that Callie knew what she was thinking, she nodded and turned around to prepare Arizona's drink

"pretty sad you don't have to ask what she wanted" Meredith whispered

"will you shut up" Callie laughed

"nope" Meredith said turning around "hi Arizona"

"hi Meredith, how are you?"

"I'm good" Meredith replied with a smile "she'll be done soon, she's just gotta clean the bathrooms"

"thanks for sharing" Callie said handing Arizona her drink

"it's cool I'll be over there" Arizona nodded to the table in the corner "what do I owe you?"

"nothing" Callie blushed

"ok" Arizona smiled

xxxxxxxxxxx

"alright, that was just disgusting" Callie said returning from cleaning the bathrooms, "why the hell are guys so nasty?"

"I don't know" Meredith laughed "one time I went in there to clean it, and someone had shit all over the toilet and wall, I almost puked"

"thanks for that visual" Callie laughed remembering that day "you need anything else from me?"

"nope your good, besides your girlfriend looks bored" Meredith pointed to Arizona who was sitting at the end booth with her notebook

"she's not bored, she's writing" Callie smiled as she untied her apron, making her way around the counter "just give me a minute to clock out and grab my stuff" she said while passing Arizona, Arizona looked up and smiled.

xxxxxxxxx

Callie was brought out of her thoughts with Arizona laughing at something Teddy had said, shaking her head she smiled, when Addy asked her a question. "um"

"you weren't listening, were you?" Addy laughed

"no, sorry, I was um" she looked at Arizona who winked

"it's all good" Addy gave her a knowing smile, Arizona stood clearing the table saying, "you cooked I'll do the dishes"

"ok" Callie said softly "I think I'm going to go for a walk" Arizona nodded

"would you mind some company?" Addy asked, she'd been wanting to get Callie alone but wasn't sure how.

"um" she looked at Arizona who nodded and smiled "sure" smiling she nodded towards the door.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It was quiet at first neither one knowing what to talk about. Callie sighed, stopping to look out over the water. "I hope I'm not coming off wrong"

"I don't think you are" Addy said quietly

"I'm sorry if I am, I just, April is my friend"

"I know she is" Addy smiled "but I want you to know, I care about Teddy so much" Callie looked at her. Giving her a half smile "you better, or I'll" Addy chuckled "you'll kick my ass?"

"well, no but I'll threaten you with it" Callie smiled

"the reason I wanted to join you on this walk is I'd like to get to know you better. All I really know is Arizona is head over heels in love with you, and it seems weird to say but so is Teddy"

"our family is weird" Callie laughed

"so I've noticed" Addy smiled "I want you to know I didn't mean for this to happen with Teddy, when I first met her, knowing she was married, and the fact that she was my coaches sister, I tried to keep my distance. It wasn't until we started talking that I realized I had feelings for her"

"but you don't love her"

"can you love someone you just met?" she asked looking at Callie. Callie gave her a knowing smile and nodded "I knew the moment Arizona walked away from me, after our first date that I was going to fall for her, and from what she's told me she knew then also"

"that's what she's told me" Addy smiled

"those Robbins girls" Callie laughed "they'll be the death of us, but I wouldn't have it any other way"

"it's really that bad?" Addy laughed

"well" Callie said looking at her "you'll see" she smiled "shall we continue our walk?" Addy nodded, conversation was easy from there. "just so you know" Callie said "I always kept an open mind when it came to you"

"thanks"

"Teddy and April were having problems way before you came into the picture"

"Teddy said that the reason she got with April is because she was lonely and scared she wasn't going to find anyone"

"from what I witnessed that'd be it" Callie smiled "so don't feel bad for wrecking a marriage, because you didn't, it was something that shouldn't have happened to begin with, and I know Arizona feels like she's to blame"

"she shouldn't"

"I know, but if you know her at all" Callie smiled.

"right" Addy stopped "thank you Callie"

"for what?"

"for being you, Arizona has said how amazing you are, and I just saw firsthand"

Callie smiled a knowing smile "come on let's go home" she said turning around heading back towards the house.

xxxxxxxxxx

Stopping on the deck when they heard music coming from inside the house "please don't tell me they broke out that damn karaoke machine again" Callie laughed

"that would be fun" Addy smiled

"you haven't heard Teddy sing, have you?"

"how bad can she be she is Arizona's sister"

"just wait" Callie smiled as she slid the door open, hearing Arizona's voice, but it was coming from the radio.

"sissy how about this" Teddy asked coming around the corner, she stopped when she saw Callie and Addy standing there.

"how about what?" Arizona asked coming out of the kitchen, she couldn't help but laugh when she saw what Teddy was wearing. "you are not wearing that out in public"

"I think it's cute" Addy laughed

"I do too" Teddy smiled

"fine wear what you want" Arizona tossed her hands in the air and left the room

"why are you trying on clothes anyway?" Callie asked confused

"for the live show next week"

"she's letting you come?" Addy giggled

"of course, I'm going, you're my girlfriend and you're in it so therefore" Teddy smiled

"she's right, Arizona doesn't have any say in it" Callie smiled "I love this song" she went to the radio and turned it up even more. The voice bringing Arizona out of the kitchen. Smiling at Callie she walked up to her, reaching out her hand "may I have this dance"

"most certainly" Callie smiled as Arizona pulled her in.

"corny" Teddy laughed "they are such and old married couple" Arizona smiled kissing Callie, as they moved slowly around the room. Callie laid her head on Arizona's shoulder, remembering the first time they danced to this song.

xxxxxx

"I love this song" Arizona said jumping up off the couch, standing in front of Callie with her hand out "dance with me". Callie smiled, closing her laptop, and took Arizona's hand. Arizona pulled her in close, singing softly in her ear. Callie laughed "you're so corny"

"I know" Arizona laughed

"but it's ok, because I love it" Callie leaned in placing a kiss on Arizona's lips. Callie moaned laying her head on Arizona's shoulder, as they moved slowly around the room. Callie closed her eyes and smiled, loving the feeling of being in Arizona's arms, it was quickly becoming her safe place.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Callie felt herself totally relax as she heard Arizona quietly sing the words. "I wanna be the wind that fills your sails, be the hand that lifts your veil, be the moon that moves your tide, the sun coming up in your eyes, be the wheels that never rust, be the spark that lights you up, all that you've been dreaming of and more" Arizona pulled back looking in Callie's pools of blue as she sang the next words "So much more… I wanna be your everything"

"they are way too cute" Addy whispered to Teddy

"you like cute?" Teddy looked at her

"of course who doesn't" Addy smiled watching the two dance slowly around the room

"ok" Teddy smiled, realizing she still had a lot to learn, April had been easy, she already knew how she felt before they got together, so she didn't have to do much, but this new relationship, she was going to have to work at. She stood up, holding out her hand, like Arizona did with Callie "may I have this dance"

"the songs almost over" Addy laughed

"ugh" Teddy said slapping her head "am I ever going to get this right?" she sat down on the couch

"you will" Addy smiled sitting next to her

"I'm sorry, with April it was easy, I didn't have to do anything, the relationship just happened"

"hey" Addy whispered, "don't sweat the small stuff, I like you, I'm not going anywhere, you'll know what to do when the time is right" she leaned over placing a kiss on Teddy's cheek.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"hey" Teddy said walking into the kitchen the next morning after Arizona and Addy had left,

"what's up" Callie looked up from her coffee cup meeting her sister in laws eyes

"I, um" she cleared her throat "I need some advice, I'd ask Arizona but"

Callie smiled "ok"

"I want to do something special for Addy, but I don't know how to go about it"

"alright" Callie said sitting down at the table with her coffee "what do you have in mind"

"that's the thing" Teddy sighed "I don't know" she looked up at Callie

"hmm"

"we were watching you two last night, dancing, I don't know how to do the romantic shit, Arizona has always been better at it than me"

"so I've noticed" Callie smirked, gaining a look from Teddy "look, just do small things, like flowers"

"flowers?" Teddy asked

"yeah, Arizona brought me flowers one time and I almost jumped her right then and there" she smiled "although that was before we had slept together"

"I don't want to hear about your sex life" Teddy laughed

"and I'm not going to tell you about it" Callie laughed "just be yourself, get her some flowers, cook her dinner, a walk on the beach, things that you'd want done for you"

"you're pretty bad at this" Teddy laughed

"that's because Arizona is the one who does it all, I do the little things once in a while, like cook her favorite meal when I know she hasn't had it in a while" she paused "it'll come to you when the time is right"

"so flowers?" Teddy smiled, Callie nodded

"we'll go later"

"ok" Teddy said softly sighing "I want to do this right"

"I know you do, I can tell she means a lot to you"

"she's amazing Cal" Teddy said, Callie could see the dreamy look in her eyes.

"are you?" Callie asked

"I think I am" Teddy smiled. Callie couldn't hold back the smile thinking about what Addy had said to her on their walk. "I think if you be yourself" she said looking in Teddy's eyes "your true self, she'll be falling for you in no time" she winked, remembering how Arizona was when they first got together. Laughing she said, "Arizona was so awkward when we first started dating, always dropping shit, and I could see her face turn 50 shades of red when she'd say the wrong thing, just try and relax and go with it, but don't sit back, like you did with April, Addy is a special kind of person that only comes around once in your life"

"you sound like my sister talking about you" Teddy smiled

"yeah I'm pretty special alright" Callie rolled her eyes, smiling reaching for Teddy's hand "seriously, you did all the right things with April, it's not your fault she wasn't your twin flame" Teddy looked at Callie, not knowing what to say. She felt a sting in her heart when she heard April's name. "you did the right thing"

"how do I know that?"

"what's your head saying"

"my head is saying that I'm a horrible person and I don't deserve to be happy"

"and your heart?" Callie asked

"my heart says, whenever I see Addison it skips a beat, when she touches me, in any sort of way, I get this feeling in my stomach. When I look at her, I, I find it hard to breathe" Teddy smiled

"and you're scared"

"to death" Teddy said softly

Callie sighed with a smile "well my dear, I'm no expert, but I think you're in love"

"god I hope she feels the same way, I couldn't take it if she doesn't"

"just give it time"

"is this how you felt with my sister?"

"yes" Callie smiled pulling her hand back "every time Arizona would walk into The Coffee House, I'd lose all sense of control. Meredith always gave me shit for it, I had never felt that way before, nothing close to being in love, I didn't know what was going on, but I knew I wanted to be with Arizona every chance I got. It's the only time I felt whole, hell it's still the only time I feel whole" Callie saw the look on Teddy's face, it was the look of knowing. "let's get dressed and go shopping"

"ok" Teddy smiled standing up.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

In the bedroom Callie sat on the edge of the bed, holding her phone.

Hey baby, hope your day is going good, I love you ~C

It didn't take long, and her phone was going off with a reply

I love you too beautiful xo ~A

What do you say we go out just the two of us tonight? ~C

Sounds good to me, what'd you have in mind? ~A

I don't know, you pick something ~C Callie smiled to herself knowing Arizona was rolling her eyes

Ok, it's going to be an early day today, just have to finish up a few loose ends, I should be home by 3 at the latest ~A "shit that doesn't give us much time" she typed out a quick reply, and jumped in the shower, hoping Teddy wouldn't take too long.

xxxxxxxxxxxx

"they're here" Callie said walking into the kitchen she saw Teddy putting the dish they had put together into the oven.

"you said to let that cook for an hour?" Teddy asked reaching for the timer

"yes, an hour" Callie smiled "Arizona and I are taking off so you two can be alone"

"thank you" Teddy smiled nervously

"its kind of perfect, with me leaving the day after tomorrow I'd like to spend some time alone with her anyway"

"you really are amazing" Teddy smiled, hearing the door open and Arizona laughing at something Addy had just said.

"woah, smells pretty amazing in here" Addy smiled setting her bag down on the couch. Callie walked up and into Arizona's arms, Arizona kissed the top of her head smiling. "let me put this away" she nodded to her bag, "and we can go, the car is waiting" Callie smiled following Arizona to the bedroom. "did you decide what you want to do?"

"no, I figured we'd just go with it" Callie smiled

The song in this chapter is Keith urban I wanna be your everything.
