Chapter 24
The roar of the crowd was almost deafening, reminding Arizona of her last tour. More specifically the show that Callie and Teddy showed up for. "you ready for this" Miley asked
"as ready as I'll ever be" Arizona smiled
"well let's go" Miley smiled when they heard Carson Daily start talking in the camera. She smiled seeing the dress Miley was wearing, she always wore such elaborate dresses. Arizona herself chose a pair of jeans, that Callie had told her hugged her in all the right places and a button up shirt and tie, the tie wasn't tied tight and hung loosely around her neck.
"and here come the judges" Carson said into the mic. Adam walked up to him giving him a hug, where Arizona, Miley and Blake went to their chairs. Sitting down Arizona looked around. She found herself nervous, someone was going home tonight, she prayed it wouldn't be Addison. Shaking the thought away, she smiled when Miley leaned over saying something about Blakes shirt. Arizona couldn't help but laugh, but the nervousness quickly came back as Carson introduced Addy who was going on first. Arizona knew the song they picked was perfect for her, she just hoped everyone else thought so too. Watching as Addy came out singing, she couldn't help but smile when she hit all the right notes, even the ones she had issues with in rehearsals. Smiling proudly, like a mother with her child, Arizona stood clapping, looking at Miley who gave her a thumbs up. There were a couple singers from Blake and Adam's team then Jessie came on, she was good, the crowd and other judges seemed to love her. Which made Arizona nervous, she badly wanted Addison to win. Trying hard not to let her nervousness show, she gave her input when asked, wishing the show would hurry up. After the last song had been sung, they went to commercial. Giving America the time to vote.
"you look nervous" Miley said leaning over in her chair
"is it that obvious?"
"you tell me" Miley laughed "relax, she isn't going home" Arizona gave her a smile. Miley quickly became a close friend, the kind of person that knew what Arizona was thinking by just reading her. Hearing Carson start to talk again, she took a deep breath, sitting back in her chair. Arizona wasn't paying attention, she was too nervous, staring at Addison standing there on stage with the others. The crowd erupted in cheers, as she heard Addison's name being called, she wasn't entirely sure what was going on, as she stood and met Addison for a hug "what's going on?"
"you're funny" she whispered in Arizona's ear
"no really, I wasn't paying attention, are you going home" Addy pulled back "no, I'm not" Arizona pulled her in again for another quick hug before she left the stage area. She heard Carson call out two more names, from Blake and Adam's team. She looked up, not surprised to see Jessie still up there, they had to preform tomorrow night to see who was going home. Sighing a sigh of relief, she looked at Miley. Who gave her a smile, as Carson said good night to the fans.
"oh my god that was nerve racking" Arizona breathed out
"you need to chill out she's good, and in the final 4" Miley smiled
"I'm sorry I'm just nervous about her going home because that meant Teddy would be leaving too"
"I know" Miley smiled "but remember if they did leave, you'd still have me here"
"doesn't matter now does it" Arizona smiled
"nope, she's in the finale"

"wow, that was exhilarating" Addy sighed plopping down on the couch after they had gotten home
"I know, I don't think I have any nails left" Arizona said examining her hands
"I knew you could do it" Teddy said placing a kiss on her cheek and whispering something Arizona couldn't hear. Looking at the clock she realized it was too late to call Callie, sighing, she made her way to the deck. Lost in thoughts of Callie and the last time she was there. Brought out of her thoughts when her phone rang. She smiled answering it "hey baby, I thought you'd be sleeping"
"I should be" Callie laughed "but I had to watch the show, and then give you time to get home" Callie was quiet "I just needed to hear your voice"
"on tv wasn't good enough?" Arizona laughed
"no"
"does me good to hear yours" Arizona said closing her eyes, there was silence on the line "I was meaning to ask, did you want me to come out and help you pack up?"
"um" Arizona looked around, remembering she only had another couple weeks here "if you can get away I'd love it, but don't feel like you need too"
"I know I don't need too" Arizona could hear the smile in Callie's voice
"how about we talk about it later, it's late, and you, my dear, need to get to bed"
"I know" Callie said softly "but, it's so hard to sleep without you here"
"I know" Arizona whispered into the phone "just close your eyes"
"every time I do I see you hovering over me on the beach" Callie whispered, Arizona could feel her face turn red, thanking god that her sister wasn't out here to see it.
"that, um" Arizona cleared her throat "was a good night"
"yes it was" Callie said softly rolling over in the bed, to the empty space that was supposed to be Arizona's.
"baby you sound tired, go to sleep"
"ok" Callie said her eyes were barely open "I love you"
"I love you too" Arizona whispered hanging up the phone she turned hearing a noise, seeing Teddy standing in the doorway
"I just wanted a smoke" Arizona smiled at her sister as she handed her a cigarette "tonight was fun"
"it was"
"so what happens now?" Teddy asked sitting down
"we have another live show tomorrow, where the other three will go on to see who is the 4th"
"that's cool" Teddy smiled
"then we're off until next week" Arizona said, looking at her sister "hey, what do you say we head home for the weekend?"
"it would give me a chance to get my stuff from April's" Teddy said
"oh, Callie already took care of that, it's all in boxes in the spare room at the house, and um, April is gone"
"I figured" Teddy sighed, "it has been a couple months" she looked out over the water
"don't beat yourself up over it"
"but you lost your manager"
"no, I didn't" Arizona smiled "I haven't told you, but we worked all that out"
"good" Teddy smiled
"so home this weekend?"
"yes" Teddy smiled, looking in the house seeing Addison sitting on the couch on her phone
"she's coming too" Arizona smiled, Teddy just smiled

"does Callie know we're coming?" Addy asked, they were at the gate waiting to board the plane
"no" Arizona smiled "she's working, I figured I'd show up at The Coffee House and surprise her"
"that's cool, I'm excited to see it" Addy smiled, Teddy put her arm around her.
Arizona smiled "hey while we got some time maybe we should talk about what song you want to do for the finale"
"I've been thinking about that" Addy smiled looking at Teddy "how about John Michael Montgomery's Life's a Dance"
"hmm" Arizona said thinking about it "we'll try it tonight"
"tonight?" Addison gave her a confused look
"yeah, I thought maybe we could sing together at The Coffee House"
"Richard is going to go for that?" Teddy asked, Arizona just looked at her as if to say 'really' Teddy laughed "alright dumb question"

"thank you, have a good night" Callie said handing the waiting customer their coffee, sighing when she heard the door open, she was ready to be done for the day. Walking over to the register, without looking up "hi, what can I get for you today" the last few weeks, she felt like she was in a zombie state just trying to get through the days until Arizona returned
"just you" Arizona smiled, Callie looked up into the blue orbs she loved so much, not having any control over her movements she somehow made her way around the counter and into Arizona's arms.

"did you know she was coming?" Meredith asked Richard
"I just found out this morning" Richard smiled, making his way to Arizona, "it's good to see you"
"it's good to be home, even if it is just a few days" Arizona smiled
"I'm glad you're here" Callie said kissing her cheek
"Callie go get clocked out" Richard smiled, looking up when he heard the door open, Teddy and Addy were coming in, he smiled at the other Robbins he had come to love.
"Richard, this is Addison Montgomery" Arizona said
"I've been watching the show, you're amazing" he smiled
"thank you" Addy said reaching for his hand
"Richard owns this place" Teddy smiled
"not for much longer" he smiled "it's good to meet you"
"you too" Addy said
"what sort of entertainment you got going on this weekend" Arizona asked
"nothing" Richard said sadly "I haven't had anything in a few weeks"
"well, what do you say we change that up a bit?"
"whatever works for you dear" he smiled
"Addy has a song she needs to test out"
"sounds good to me" he said "how about tomorrow night"
"that would be great, gives me tonight with Callie" Arizona smiled seeing Callie come out from the back.

"why are you here" Callie asked once in the car
"we had the weekend off so" Addy said from the back seat
"she's a little excited to be here" Teddy said
"so, you had the weekend off and of all things you chose to come home?" Callie asked confused
"what can I say" Arizona smiled leaning over to kiss her "can we go home please" Callie smiled and nodded, putting the car in gear and heading towards the house

"feels like forever since I've been here" Arizona said walking through the front door, letting her bag slide down her body and land on the floor
"it has been" Callie smiled
"wow your dad did clean everything out"
"yeah when you get home we'll have to change the bedrooms around, I can't bring myself to do it alone"
"we'll get it done" Arizona said wrapping her arms around Callie
"so which one is my room?" Teddy asked
"the second door on the left" Callie said not taking her eyes off Arizona
"you just told her to go to the bathroom" Arizona laughed
"she'll find it" Callie was lost in Arizona's eyes, pulling her to the couch kissing her. Only pulling away for air she whispered, "I'm glad you're here"

The next day brought a storm into Madison. Arizona woke up to a lightning strike and a clap of thunder. She felt herself jump, looking down she saw blonde hair, she smiled and whispered "Callie" as she caressed her back. The storm making it still dark, glancing at the clock she saw it was passed 7. Looking around the room, it seemed like forever since she'd been home. Everything felt so foreign to her. Like it often did when she came back from one of her tours, although she'd been gone much longer than a tour. She felt a smile creep across her face when she felt Callie move, another crack of thunder. "mm, I love storms and waking up with you" Callie whispered a smile on her face, Arizona just smiled and held her tight "how long you been awake?"
"not too long, the thunder woke me up"
"you can sleep through a California storm but not this?" Callie giggled as she moved so she could give Arizona a proper good morning, leaning in her lips were just above Arizona's
"what can I say?" Arizona smiled pulling her the rest of the way down engulfing her mouth in a kiss.
"I have to pee" Callie pulled away and hopped out of bed, drawing on her shorts and shirt, she made her way out of the room to the bathroom, noting the door to the spare room, which was soon to be Teddy's, was closed. Once she was back in the room, she climbed back into bed, wrapping her limbs around Arizona "it'll be nice once we are in the big room, won't have to put clothes on to go to the bathroom"
"that is nice" Arizona smiled thinking about the house in LA.
"I'm going to get up" Callie leaned in kissing her, Arizona watched as she hopped off the bed again "I'll get the coffee started" she said as the power flickered, she laughed "as long as we don't lose power"
"I'll be down in a minute" Arizona smiled rolling over grabbing Callie's pillow

"so much for smoking" Addy said looking out the patio door, the rain was coming down in sheets, and lightning flashes going off every other second.
"we can go in the garage" Arizona smiled seeing Addy jump
"sorry wasn't expecting anyone"
"oh" Arizona said looking around for Callie, realizing she was probably already in the garage smoking. "well come on then" she said nodding towards the garage door, opening it she saw Callie sitting on the step "there you are"
"here I am" Callie smiled
"woah, nice car" Addy said seeing the '67 Chevy that Callie's dad had parked in the garage
"yeah, my dad's baby" Callie smiled "it doesn't run"
"doesn't run?" Addy asked confused looking over the car
"he's been working on it for years, but can't seem to get it to run"
"hmm" Addy was admiring the car "my brother is a mechanic maybe he could"
"baby, that'd be awesome, your dad would"
"no, it's fine sitting right there" Callie said putting out her cigarette, turning on her heals and going into the house leaving Arizona and Addy staring at each other confused. Arizona looked at the car, a flash back from her dream came to her. "oh my god" Arizona said as the realization hit her, she ran into the house, finding Callie sitting at the table staring out the patio door into the storm, she walked slowly behind her, softly wrapping her arms around Callie, she could feel the soft sobs. "that was the car wasn't it?" Arizona whispered, Callie nodded, closing her eyes Arizona wrapped her arms around her tighter. "it's fine baby, let it out" as Callie started to sob into Arizona's chest.
"what's going on?" a groggy Teddy asked, rubbing her eyes
"nothing" Arizona said looking up at her sister Teddy nodded and made her way to the garage.
"sorry" Callie whispered
"don't be sorry" Arizona said stoking her hair, Callie pulled back, sniffling "I should go apologize to Addy"
"I'm sure it'll be ok" Arizona pulled her back in
"god, I'm so overwhelmed right now, and with you coming home out of the blue" there was another loud crack of thunder and the power went out. "great"
"I'll find the flashlights" Arizona let go of Callie and went to the junk drawer finding the flashlight they kept in there, reaching out for Callie she went to the garage to make sure Teddy and Addy could see to make it back into the house.
"the coffee is still hot" Callie said handing a cup to each of them. Sitting at the table, Callie lit some candles.
"you know we should probably go see mom and dad while we are in town" Arizona said
"I know" Teddy sighed "I'm just not looking forward to it"
"I'd like to see your parents again" Addy smiled reaching for Teddy's hand, Teddy gave her a sad smile
"we'll go later, once the storm lets up" Arizona looked out the window "if it ever lets up"
"you don't like storms?" Addy asked
"no I do, it's just"
"how are you going to do when we go storm chasing" Callie laughed
"I'll be just fine, thank you"
"you guys are going storm chasing?" Addy asked excitedly
"yeah, it was our wedding present from" Callie said looking at Teddy "from Teddy and our parents"
"that's so awesome, I've always wanted to go on one"
"I'm excited" Callie smiled, there was another loud clap of thunder and the lights came back on.
"that's weird, normally after a loud clap like that doesn't power go out not come back on?" Addy laughed
"usually" Callie laughed
"well" Arizona said standing up "who's hungry?"
"I'll help" Teddy stood

"do we have to do this?" Teddy asked, they were sitting in the car outside the house they grew up in.
"yes, it won't be that bad" Arizona said
"well let's get this over with" Teddy sighed reaching for the door handle
"why are you so scared to see your parents" Addy asked
"just wait you'll see" Teddy reached for her hand "just promise me no matter what you won't leave me"
"now you're being over paranoid" Addy laughed
"hi girls" Barbara said meeting them at the door "Addison it's good to see you again" she said embracing her in a hug
"it's good to see you again too Mrs. Robbins" Addy said
"please call me Barbara" she smiled "your father is in the living room, dinner will be ready shortly" Arizona nodded following Callie into the living room making themselves comfortable on the love seat.
"hi girls" Daniel said not looking away from the tv
"hi dad" Arizona smiled
"hi daddy" Teddy said quietly, Daniel looked away from the tv to his daughter. He could tell she was nervous about what was to come of this dinner "Teddy don't be nervous; your mother and I just want to see our girls"
"but before you go I'd like a word with you alone" Barbara said from the door way "dinner is ready, Daniel make sure you turn off the tv"
"yes dear"

"so Addison, I see you've made it to the final four" Barbara said
"I did, I'm so thankful for Arizona, without her I don't know I would have made it past the second round" she said letting out a nervous laugh
"you would have" Arizona smiled, looking over at Teddy who still seemed to be nervous. Teddy cleared her throat "I've gotta go to the bathroom" she said pushing back her chair, leaving the room.
"what is her problem?" Barbara asked
"she's worried you're going to lay into her" Arizona said
"why?" Barbara asked confused
"because" Arizona looked at Callie, taking a deep breath "she feels like you guys always put me first, and you're going to hold over her head the fact that Callie and I have been together forever, and" Arizona was cut off by Teddy coming into the room "I just feel like I'm a big disappointment to all of you"
"oh honey you're not a disappointment, I understand things don't work out as planned" Barbara said
"we love you just the way you are" Daniel smiled
"I'm not going to say anything about what you've been through, I know it was a tough decision to make, I just want to see you happy"
"thank you, I am happy" Teddy said looking at Addison smiling, she smiled back "I am too"
"now sit down and finish your dinner" Barbara said pointing to the empty chair next to Addison.

"glad that's over" Teddy sighed plopping down on the couch
"it wasn't that bad" Arizona laughed
"yeah" Teddy sighed
"well don't get to comfortable, we have to go" Arizona smiled
"now where?" Teddy asked in a sigh
"The Coffee House"
"why?"
"don't ask why just get up" Addy said already at the door with Arizona's guitar in hand
"oh right" Teddy smiled hopping off the couch

"good you're here, I thought you forgot" Richard smiled, seeing the group walk in.
"sorry, had to have dinner with the parentals" Arizona rolled her eyes "we'll get set up quick and be good to go"
"I didn't have time to get any advertisement up"
"playing in front of a small group of people will be better for me" Addison smiled
"especially if we go with this song" Arizona smiled nodding for Addy to follow her to the stage. "my plan here is to widen this, and make a better area back there for a dressing room, or something"
"that'd be an awesome idea, then maybe Miley would come"
"I'm thinking all I have to do is bat an eye and she'd come running" Arizona laughed grabbing the two stools that were in the corner, placing them in front of the two microphones that were already set up. With a flip of the switch her voice was heard over the speakers, that had seen they're better days. "hey everyone, how we doing tonight" there wasn't many people there, when Arizona last played there the place was packed. "I trust you all know who we are" the crowd nodded and said their yes "well we just happen to be in town for the weekend and thought we'd put on a show" Arizona nodded to Addison who got comfortable on the stool leaning into the mic "hello" she smiled "this is just a test run". The two women started to strum, looking at each other Addison smiled before she sang the words.

"why do you think she picked that song?" Teddy leaned over asking Callie
"I don't know" Callie laughed, she didn't know Addison all that well so she had no idea on why she did anything she did.
"maybe it has a hidden meaning behind it"
"just chill out, it's just a song, if she has something to tell you she will" Callie did know that much, Addy was pretty outspoken, if she had something on her mind she didn't keep it in. When the song was over, the crowd was on their feet. They started in on a second, one of Arizona's songs.
"this is so awesome" Addy smiled once they finished the second song.
"I have one I've been wanting to try" Arizona said looking down at the guitar, Addy nodded smiling. She caught on quick to the song Arizona was playing. Arizona stepped up to the mic.

They played some more songs calling it a night about 10, both beat. The next day found Arizona at her parent's house. "mom, do you know where that karaoke machine went?" she asked sticking her head out of the hall closet door, she could have sworn she saw it in there a few years back.
"I didn't know you were here" Barbara laughed "um, I think your dad put it in the attic, you girls really need to go through all your childhood stuff, maybe donate it or something"
"ok" Arizona laughed, putting the stuff she had pulled out back in the closet "I'll talk to Teddy about it" shutting the door and making her way to the stairs that would lead her to the attic.
"what do you need it for anyway?" Barbara asked following her daughter up the stairs.
"I thought maybe Addy could practice, but I guess we don't need it" Arizona laughed thinking no one was going to hear her anyway. "then we can stay a few more days"
"well that would be nice" Barbara said "hey do you remember this?" she added holding up an old teddy bear Teddy used to carry everywhere
"yes" Arizona laughed "Teddy wouldn't go anywhere without it, maybe I should give it to her"
"make sure it's in front of Addison, we didn't get a chance to embarrass her the other night" Barbara smiled
"well it's not here" Arizona said looking around at the cluttered mess "I'll get Teddy and come back, after I get back from LA and we'll go through all this"
"sounds good dear" Barbara smiled "hey if you're going to be in town for a few more days, it'd be nice to have dinner again"
"sounds good mom" Arizona smiled she knew she missed them. "I'll let you know" she went in for a hug "I'll call you later"
"ok honey" Barbara smiled

"did you find what you went looking for?" Teddy asked hearing Arizona walk into the living room
"no, not like I could find anything if I wanted to the attic is a mess, mom wants us to go through it and get rid of what we don't want"
"mm, ok" Teddy said sitting back on the couch
"I did find this though" Arizona said tossing the stuffed animal at her sister
"um, I don't want that" Teddy tossed it back at her
"what you don't love Mr. Cuddles anymore?"
"um no" Teddy said hoping Arizona would let it go
"but he misses you" Arizona said holding it up in a sad way
"you can have him"
"but Teddy, remember all the good times we had" Arizona went on talking in a little kid voice using the bear as a puppet "you used to take me everywhere"
"knock it off dickhead"
"you're funny" Addy laughed
"well I think you should hold on to him, he was a big part of your life" Arizona tossed it back at her
"I think he's cute" Addy said grabbing it off Teddy's lap "I have a blanket I used to take everywhere it's actually still on my bed back home"
"you don't think this is corny?" Teddy asked
"nope" Addy leaned over kissing her cheek, she looked up at Arizona "what were you looking for anyway?"
"the karaoke machine. I thought if you got some practice in here, we could stay a few extra days"
"that'd be cool" Addy smiled looking at Teddy who shrugged her shoulders
"then I figured we don't need it"
"we going to The Coffee House?"
"no, too many people there, we'll do it here, I got my guitar, and YouTube" Arizona smiled
"well let's get started" Addy stood up from the couch "what do you want from me?"
"well" Arizona went on to say what she thought of the song the other night. "if you want to win this thing you gotta give it your all"
"haven't I been doing that?" Addy looked confused
"not saying you haven't" Arizona sighed "ok I'm in coach mode here, so don't take anything I say to heart" Addy nodded as Arizona went on saying what she wanted from her "ok let's try it" she handed her the guitar, Addy sang the song with all her heart "that was great, but you have to hold out of the life's a dance part, like this" Arizona said as she sang the part, Addy followed suit. They spent an hour going over it, the look on Teddy's face, Arizona could tell she was tired of hearing the song "alright, that's enough for now, we'll do some more later" she said as her phone went off with a text from Callie hey babe, can you come down Richard wants to talk to you ~C

"I've gotta run down to The Coffee House, you two, um don't get into any trouble"
"we won't" Teddy smiled

"Arizona's here" Meredith sang, as she elbowed Callie and laughed
"must you do that every time she comes?"
"yup, because it's funny" Meredith laughed, Callie shook her head going around the counter to meet Arizona "I'll let Richard know you're here" Meredith smiled heading to the back
"do you know what he wants?" Arizona asked
"not sure"
"hmm" Arizona smiled that smile that made Callie melt to her knees, chocolate brown locked on blue as their eyes met.
"hi girls" Richard said seeing them both jump, after all this time he still found it amazing how they were when it came to each other. Always getting lost in each other's eyes.
"hi" Callie said shyly "I better get back"
"Meredith has it, sit" he said pointing to the chair "I need to talk to both of you" Arizona smiled pulling the chair out for Callie. "alright" he cleared his throat opening the folder he brought out with him. "here's the papers I had drawn up" Arizona looked down seeing their names as owners. "I just need the two of you to sign a couple more places and the sale will be final" Richard smiled
"it's that easy?" Arizona looked up into Richard's brown eyes
"yup, that easy, you already gave me the check" he smiled
"alright where do we sign?" she smiled looking at Callie
"here" he said pointing to a spot "and here" Arizona took the pen and signed, handing it to Callie. "alright, when will you be back?"
"um" Arizona said mentally trying to figure everything out in her head. "I'm going to say a month" she laughed "I'm not entirely sure"
"I see" he laughed
"the last show is this week, but it'll take me a bit to get the house cleaned up"
"I thought you were going to see about buying it?"
"I, ah" Arizona looked down, Callie smiled at her
"well Callie why don't you take some time off to help her out, when you get back though things will change"
"really?" Callie said looking at her boss, although he wouldn't be her boss for much longer
"yes" he smiled "but like I said when you both get back, this" he waved his hand around "will be all yours"
"ok" Callie smiled looking at Arizona.
"we're done, here" Richard smiled knowing he just made their day.
