Only a Promise, Temper

A/N short little Christmas Eve fluff GB

It was late on Christmas Eve, Ginny and Blaise sat cuddled in each other's arms on the porch swing. Ginny got closer to Blaise as a chilly wind whipped her auburn hair around. The porch swing moved without the normal creaking and groaning. The stars above them were barely visible as dark clouds covered the sky. Gentle snowflakes drifted down, lodging themselves in Blaise's black hair. All was silent in the Burrow. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley had drifted to bed naught past eleven and the others had soon followed. Ginny was wearing low-rise jeans and a big green sweater with a silver G knitted into it. Blaise wore one of the similar only to his dismay, it was scarlet with a gold B, knitted by Mrs. Weasley herself.

"You may have noticed that I haven't given you anything," Blaise whispered into Ginny's ear as he reached down to his pocket.

"Finally meeting my parents and siblings was enough," Ginny replied.

"No it wasn't that's why I got you this," Blaise replied handing Ginny a green velvet box. She carefully opened the box. Sitting inside was a ring. The stone was a brilliant green emerald set in sterling silver. A tiny but intricately carved snake ran around the side of the stone, holding it in place.

"Blaise is this…" Ginny started.

"It's only a promise ring," Blaise interrupted.

"Blaise you really shouldn't have," Ginny replied.

"Yes, I had to and I wanted to," Blaise countered. Ginny slipped the ring on her finger, a perfect fit. She laid her head back on Blaise's shoulder.

"Blaise?" Ginny said.

"Yes Temper," Blaise replied using his favorite term of endearment for Ginny.

"I love you," Ginny replied.

"I know Temper," Blaise said kissing her head, "I love you too."
