Chapter 4: True or False?

One afternoon, in Equestria, in a school in Fillydelphia, a young unicorn colt named Day Dream was standing in front of his class, holding a small journal with his magic.

"And that's what I did this summer", said Day Dream, as he finished telling his story about Sharkcolt and Lavafilly to his classmates. But suddenly, instead of the classroom applauding to his story, they started throwing paper balls and laughed at the poor colt.

"Enough!", called out the teacher, an earth stallion named named Mr. Electrihoof. "Somepony's picking that up, and it's not gonna be me!" Then, and earth colt in the classroom named Titus said to Day Dream, "You were supposed to tell TRUE stories".

"That is a true story", said Day Dream.

Then, a shy unicorn filly with glasses named Crystalite, who is also Mr. Electrihoof's daughter asked Day Dream, "Does Lavafilly have special powers?"

"There's no such thing as Lavafilly", said Mr. Electrihoof.

So Day Dream went through the pages of his journal using his magic, when he stopped, he answered Crystalite's question. "She can shoot lava out of her hooves", Day Dream said. "Cool", said Crystalite with a smile.

Then Mr. Electrihoof stood up from his desk and asked his students, "How many of you think Day Dream's story is true?" Crystalite raised her hoof, but none of the class didn't.

"Not true", said one

"Made up", said a filly in the back of the class.

"Not true", said a blue and yellow pegasus colt named Dodge.

"It's just a made up story", said a green and grey earth colt near the back named White Pine. Then, a red and yellow unicorn colt in front of him named Fireball blew a raspberry.

"If it's true", said Titus, "Why don't you bring Sharkcolt and Lavafilly to class tomorrow?", he asked Day Dream teasingly. "They ran away", said Day Dream, "I don't know where they went".

"Have a seat, Day Dream", said Mr. Electrihoof, guiding his young student to his desk at the back of the class. "Titus, you're next", the teacher said.

As Titus got up from his desk, he tripped Day Dream on purpose as he was walking back to his desk, and the class laughed at the scene. Titus walked up to the front of the class and began his story. "This summer, I met a new friend who was half-dork, half-colt, I called him, 'Dorkcolt'". The class laughed as poor Day Dream sat at his desk with a depressed look on his face. "But his real name was Day Dream", Titus continued, "we had him for dinner, but he was so ugly, that we all, went, blind". And the class laughed even harder.

"That's enough, Titus", said Mr. Electrihoof as he walked up to him.

Then, the school bell rang, it was time for the young fillies and colts to go home.

"Titus, Day Dream, stay", said Mr. Electrihoof, as the other students were leaving the classroom.

The two young colts walked up and stood in front of their teacher's desk to hear what he has to say to them.

"Titus", began Mr. Electrihoof. "You've just earned a minus for your behavior today". Titus gave a disgusted look.

"This is a new year, do you think you could be friends"?, the teacher asked. Titus and Day Dream both looked at each other, and they both their teacher, "No".

"Then it's been decided", said Mr. Electrihoof, "you'll be the best of friends. Which means no more picking on Day Dream, Titus". Titus then walked to his desk to get his books, and then left the classroom to join his friends, Dodge, White Pine, and Fireball outside.

"Mr. Electrihoof then turned to Day Dream. "Day Dream", he said, "you're in the 4th grade, there's some good foals in this class. Find them, make friends with them. Dreaming keeps you from seeing what's right here in front of you. This isn't a dream, this is the real world".

Then Day Dream start writing in his journal with his magic. "No dreaming", he said, as he wrote the same words in his journal. "Got it. I'll try harder".

"What do you have there?", asked Mr. Electrihoof as Day Dream was walked out of the classroom. Day Dream turned around and looked at his teacher, and then his journal.

"It's my Dream Journal", Day Dream said with a smile, "it has all of my most precious dreams in it. And I'll never part with it for as long as I live".

"You're a good kid, Day Dream", said Mr. Electrihoof as he watched his imaginative young student walk out of the classroom. Day Dream turned and smiled at his teacher as he held his beloved Dream Journal tightly in his hoof.
