Chapter 7: Day Dream's Wish

"Rrriiinnnggg!" Day Dream's alarm clock went off at 7:00 am, and when he woke up, he jumped out of his bed and ran towards his window to see if his wish for terrible storms came true.

When he opened his curtains with his magic, he was disappointed to see that it was a beautiful morning with clear skys, the Sun shining, and birds chirping in the trees. "Guess I didn't dream hard enough", said Day Dream with a sad look on his face.

Later, Day Dream went to the bathroom, and brushed his teeth, mane, and, tail with his magic. Then, he grabbed his saddle bag from his room, and went downstairs to the dining room to have breakfast.

His father, Pencil Note was eating his breakfast, and his mother, Toasted Marshmallow was trying to get her husband to find a good job in the Fillydelphia Newspaper. And the Fillydelphia Newspaper is where Pencil Note works, but his wife thinks that his job doesn't have good payment, but Pencil Note kept trying to tell her for the past few months that it is. But they just kept arguing and arguing, and due to their constant fighting, Pencil Note and Toasted Marshmallow are on the brink of getting a divorce. And their only son, Day Dream is not happy about that.

"Hey, son?", said Day Dream's dad, as he was eating his breakfast cereal.

Pencil Note picked up a small box with his magic, and showed it to Day Dream, "I was cleaning out my closet, and look what I found?" Inside the box was a small half-finished robot pony. "Remember Tobor? The robot pony you tried to build?"

"Why were you cleaning out your closet, dad?", Day Dream asked.

"I had to find one of these", said Pencil Note. He showed him his purple neck tie.

"Is Mom making you getting a good job, again?", asked Day Dream, as he was eating his breakfast cereal.

"The Fillydelphia Newspaper is a good job", Pencil Note said, "and it does have good payment".

"Day Dream, I'm walking you to school today", said his mother, as she was walking out of the kitchen, and towards the front door.

Then, his father asked his son with a smile, "So what do you say? Wanna finish making Tobor?"

"It won't work", said Day Dream with a frown.

"Well, how do you know?", asked Pencil Note.

"Because you told me it wouldn't", replied Day Dream.

"I did?", Pencil Note asked with a confused look on his face. "I'm sorry. I should've never said that".

"It's okay", Day Dream said to his dad. "You were right, dumb idea".

Then, Day Dream got up from the dining room table, grabbed his saddle bag, and went outside to meet his mother. She was staring at the front lawn.

"How did this happen?", asked Toasted Marshmallow, as she was looking at the burnt hoofprints that Lavafilly left behind the night she and Sharkcolt disappeared.

"The grass was dead, anyway", Day Dream replied with a depressing tone in his voice.

"Why are you so grumpy?", his mother asked.

Then Day Dream said, "I just wish anything can happen so I wouldn't have to go to school today".

"That's not realistic, Day", said Toasted Marshmallow, as she started walking her son down the front path from their house. "It's bad enough that your father's head is in the clouds, but not you too, okay? Not you too, just... push that dream aside, and move on".

"Like with your dream?", Day Dream asked, "The one about you and dad, and me?"

"Well I do have a dream about us", said Toasted Marshmallow. "But as I'm sure you've been noticing lately, your father and I are just... well, we're... not compatible. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to dump all of this on you right before you have to go to school, but... school's waiting".

Toasted Marshmallow pointed her hoof to Day Dream's school, which is right across from his house.

"Did we have to move so close to school, Mom?", Day Dream asked.

"It was the only house left for sale that was affordable", replied his mother.

Then Toasted Marshmallow said to Day Dream, "Come right home after school today, because there's some things that we need to talk about. I love you".

And when his mother turned and walked back into the house, Day Dream said to himself in a sad tone, "I wish anything can happen so I wouldn't have to come home today".

Then, Day Dream walked across the street to go to school.

But as he reached the school grounds, he heard a familiar voice. "Hey, look. It's Dream Boy", it was Dodge, the pegasus bully from Day Dream's class. And White Pine and Fireball were with him.

Then, all three of them started throwing paper balls at Day Dream, and chased him into the school.

And the school bell rang.
