In this chapter, our heroes are going after Lemmy.
He's the smallest of the Koopalings...but that doesn't necessarily mean he's the weakest. Though as of late he's been the first Koopaling to be fought.
Perhaps Larry Koopa decided he wanted a break from being the first boss. Although, sometimes he's been fought last. Such as in Super Mario World. That was essentially the sequel to Super Mario Bros 3.
Did you know there's a website called Lemmy's Land?
Unfortunately, it's gone defunct. It's not updating anymore.
It sure had a good run though, I can tell you that. More than a decade.
Chapter 33: Lemmy At Him
On Lemmy's airship, there were more Shy Guys.
One probably shouldn't ask them to do maintenance work on the airship though. They had a habit of clowning around.
The Rocky Wrenches were a lot more reliable.
The guys seemed impressed that they managed to defeat the general.
They said he was the toughest Shy Guy around.
Still, they intended to fight our heroes. Lemmy Koopa would reward them if they took Mario down…along with his friends.
But our heroes could take them. They had taken on an army of them, after all.
They weren't so tough, at least not in comparison.
"I wonder what these Shy Guys hide underneath their masks." questioned Lincoln.
"We can ponder that mystery later." answered Lisa.
Though it would make for great scientific research.
Burt the Bashful was up ahead.
Seemed they needed to defeat him if they wanted to get any further.
"Weren't you in a Yoshi's Island game?" asked Lana. She was familiar with the franchise.
It wasn't unheard of for Nintendo to make a game in which Mario wasn't the main protagonist (but was a protagonist nevertheless).
"Was I? Aw, shucks!" exclaimed Burt.
His cheeks turned red.
"Isn't he the humble one." remarked Bombette.
"Lynn could learn a thing or two from him." noted Lana.
Lynn rolled her eyes.
In order to defeat him, they had to take off his pants.
But that was easier said than done, considering he had a tendency to bounce around.
How would they do so?
Watt zapped him while he was bouncing.
Lynn seized the opportunity to pull down his pants.
Burt the Bashful ran out of the room.
Seemed fighting the heroes was too humiliating for his tastes.
"Well, let's move on." said Lincoln.
Mario nodded.
The last obstacle was Tap-Tap the Red Nose.
Seemed that Lemmy thought his red nose made him look like a clown.
So he recruited him as one of his bodyguards.
However, though he did look a bit like a clown with his red shoes and his nose, his spikes were no laughing matter. They were very sharp.
Our heroes wondered how they were going to fight him when he was covered in spikes.
However, his nose seemed like a vulnerable target.
Compared to the rest of Tap-Tap, it was soft and squishy.
So they decided to target it.
Tap-Tap decided to leave.
Lemmy was waiting for them in an arena.
An arena with a star in the center.
Lemmy let out a laugh.
It seemed he was happy that the heroes had made it here. Even though he had set up obstacles in their path.
Now he could challenge them himself. He always enjoyed fighting Mario…though for some reason it always led to him losing. He knew that Bowser managed to defeat Mario using the Star Rod though, so it seemed possible for him to win.
"Funny, didn't we just beat the largest of the Koopalings?" questioned Goombario. Morton wasn't as big as Bowser himself, but he was noticeably big for a Koopa.
Now they were fighting the smallest.
For his first attack, Lemmy summoned yellow balls.
These yellow balls bounced across the arena.
Our heroes had to observe them carefully to determine where they landed next.
Otherwise, they would end up taking a hit. And that wouldn't be fun.
"Ow!" exclaimed Kooper as one hit in the face. They weren't as fun as they looked.
Perhaps he should watch out for them. Even if he did have his shell for protection.
Lily was playing with one of them.
"Lily, try to stay focused." instructed Lincoln. They were in a middle of a fight with one of Bowser's Koopalings.
"Oh, right." remembered the baby.
"I never thought I would get attacked by rubber balls." noted Bow.
Unfortunately, her fan couldn't deflate them.
He could tell that Lemmy was a total clown.
Unfortunately, Lemmy was a small target. Definitely smaller than Morton was, that was for sure.
It wasn't easy to hit him as a result.
How were they going to take the fight to him?
However, Luan had a bright idea.
And yes, she came up with an idea before Lisa did. It was crazy.
She threw a banana peel on the floor.
Unfortunately for the smallest of the Koopalings, he did not notice.
He was busy blowing raspberries at our heroes.
Lemmy slipped and fell off his ball once it rolled onto the banana peel.
"Oof!" exclaimed the small Koopa.
Mini Stars swirled around his small head.
What could have possibly happened?
Unfortunately, being off his ball left him vulnerable.
Mario didn't let the opportunity go to waste, and he jumped on his head.
"Ow! You're ruining my party!" shouted the Koopaling.
He couldn't say that he approved of it.
And he had a way to deal with party crashers.
In retaliation, he spun around in his shell.
Which was unfortunate, since he could move pretty fast.
"Ouch!" exclaimed Bombette.
"Oof!" shouted Lynn.
Lemmy then started bouncing on his ball again.
This time, he began to throw Bob-Ombs.
Our heroes were forced to take cover.
"Didn't your mother tell you not to play with explosives?" asked Lincoln.
"Isn't one of your party members a Bob-Omb?" questioned Lemmy. Made him wonder why he was traveling with one.
"Oh, right." answered the white-haired boy.
Perhaps he was being a bit hypocritical.
"You think you can get up there and teach him a lesson?" asked Bombete.
To her knowledge, he could fly.
"I could try, but he'd most likely throw a Bob-Omb at me if he saw me." pointed out Lincoln.
"Fair point." nodded Goombario.
Unfortunately, Luan threw a pie in his face while he was in the middle of tossing another Bob-Omb.
He wiped the custard off his face, but forgot about the Bob-Omb.
It exploded, and he fell off the ball again.
"It happened again!" exclaimed Lemmy.
Mario leapt on his head.
Lemmy tucked into his shell and began to attack the heroes again.
"Ouch!" exclaimed Goombario.
"Ow!" shouted Lola.
She broke a nail.
He then made his ball bigger, and started bouncing around.
"This isn't good." remarked Lincoln. Things just became more complicated.
Though he knew his sister didn't exactly mind complicated problems.
That rubber ball of his was now basically a wrecking ball.
How were they going to defeat him now?
Luckily, Luan pulled out some tacks.
She used it to deflate Lemmy's ball.
"Oh nooooo!" exclaimed the Koopaling, his eyes widening with fear as he realized what was happening.
Without his ball, he wasn't sure how he was going to keep fighting.
"Alright, Lemmy. We win. Now give us the Star Spirit." ordered Lincoln.
Mario had a feeling he would win again. Though Lemmy had put up a good fight, he could say that much.
He could argue that it was Luan who had defeated him this time though.
Her strategies were a big help.
"Guess what? I don't have the Star Spirit!" exclaimed Lemmy.
"What?!" exclaimed Lana, her eyes widening with shock.
This was a change in pace.
"This complicates things." noted Goombario.
Lucy sighed, as she often did.
Seemed for once the Koopaling did not have the Star Spirit.
Lemmy was sentenced to do community service as a penalty for his actions against Toad Town. Larceny was a no-no.
"How long is it going to be until we get the Star Spirit?" asked Lynn. She wanted to hurry up and start searching for the next Star Spirit already.
"Yeah! The sooner we get those Star Spirits, the sooner we can go home!" exclaimed Lola.
She had plenty of makeup waiting for her on her dresser.
Lynn heard from a walkthrough that the fifth Star Spirit was on an island somewhere.
Going into a volcano sounded dangerous. Who knows how much lava was in there?
Not to mention that there would likely be another guardian. Preferably one that could tolerate high temperatures. Because the volcano wouldn't exactly be a good hiding spot otherwise.
But on the other hand, being in a toybox made her feel like Lily after a while. A change in scenery wouldn't be too bad.
"We'll just have to keep on fighting Bowser's army until we get the Star Spirit." noted Lincoln. There were a lot of people counting on them.
However, though Lemmy had given it away, he got the feeling that he would get the fourth Star Spirit soon.
As it turned out, Bowser Jr had hid away in a tower.
It wasn't far from Toad Town.
It looked like if they wanted the Star Spirit, they were going to have to climb up.
And chances are there were more foes inside.
Since Muskular was counting on them, they decided they should go there as soon as possible.
At her castle (which was so high up it could be mistaken for a star at a night), Peach decided to look around to find information about the 5th Star Spirit.
She overheard one of the Koopas mentioning that it was an island with Yoshis.
However, she was unsure whether he meant Yoshi's Island or not.
"I wonder how Lincoln's going to get there. Does he have a boat?" asked Clyde.
If so, he would probably want to check it out…if he ever escaped the castle.
"To my knowledge, he does not." answered Peach. Though considering that Mario was made out of paper, he could probably turn himself into a boat. You'd be surprised the ways that paper could bend.
Perhaps there was a way he could get there.
She heard eating noises coming from the kitchen.
Who was eating so ravenously?
She could only hope it wasn't Bowser.
However, he was currently taking a snooze.
He was dreaming of beating up Mario…again.
As it turned out, it was Gourmet Guy.
He had flown all the way up here just to get some food. It made him feel better after General Guy lost his battle with Mario and his friends.
The big Shy Guy heard there was a wide selection. Though the Toad bakers were currently in Bowser's custody.
And as it turned out, he knew exactly where the Star Spirit was.
They had to do a favor for him first though.
Gourmet Guy happened to want a cake…even though he had probably eaten half the contents in the refrigerator. The Koopatrols were probably wondering where the rest of the food had gone.
So Peach decided that she would make him the most delicious cake that she could.
Fortunately, she was well aware as to how to make a cake.
After all, she had baked one for Mario back when Bowser stole all the Power Stars…and Mario had gotten them back, of course.
Unfortunately, he had gone a step further and had taken the Star Rod this time.
There was a cookbook in the castle.
Bowser probably wasn't going to use it for baking though. Peach was aware that he was a carnivore. Though maybe donuts would appeal to him.
Luckily, the obese Shy Guy liked his meal.
It wasn't surprising though, considering that Clyde was a master at baking.
And yes, the author felt like making a movie reference. Since he happened to like the Loud House movie.
"The fifth Star Spirit is in on Lavalava Island." explained Gourmet Guy.
However, he did not say where exactly. Perhaps our heroes would need to ask the locals…which included a lot of Yoshis.
"Well, that's ironic. That's where Mario ended up when he first arrived in the Mushroom Kingdom." noted Peach. Back then, he was a baby. Though for whatever reason he wore his trademark red cape even back then.
Mario was lucky that Yoshis were peaceful. Otherwise he might not be still playing his game to this day. Though Yoshis didn't seem to mind eating meat despite their love of fruit.
Most races in the Mushroom Kingdom wouldn't hurt a baby though.
"Bowser Jr told me he was going to take the fourth Star Spirit..." noted Clyde.
Seemed he was worried that Lemmy wouldn't be up to the task.
The three Koopalings before him had failed, after all.
"That sure complicates our heroes' mission, doesn't it?" asked Peach.
Ans yes, Goombario had already said that.
Clyde nodded. Seems Bowser's son had decided to enter the conflict. Seemed he felt that the heroes were getting strong enough to pose a threat to his father.
But he imagined that Lincoln could still grab it.
After all, if anyone could do it, it was him.
They imagined that Bowser Jr wouldn't go far.
And indeed he hasn't.
They decided to wish our heroes luck.
Oh dear, it looks like our heroes have been hoodwinked. The Star Spirit is currently with Bowser Jr.
But with some luck, our heroes might be able to get the fourth Star Spirit from Bowser Jr's tower.
Can they defeat Bowser Jr?
And have you seen the movie yet?
