Time for a chapter of Paper Loud House. In this chapter, Mario will help an ailing whale.
He just might be able to help them in their quest.
After all, they kind of need to travel across the sea.
Misstar is counting on them.
Chapter 35: Dr. Mario
Due to complaints of enemies in the sewers, Mario decided to investigate.
Seemed there were Gloombas down there.
They were like Goombas, but not so weak. And rather blue.
It seemed being in the sewers made them stronger.
They weren't exactly hyper though. Not like the ones in Gusty Gulch.
They too came in Spiky and Flying varieties.
Mario straightened things out.
There were also Dark Koopas, but Mario could just kick their shells away.
However, it also seemed there were Bloopers.
Really big ones.
Maybe he should come back later.
He didn't want to take them on alone.
Besides, perhaps they could use the pipes in the sewers for transportation. Mario had been using warp pipes for some time now, after all.
Mario noticed a whale that wasn't feeling well.
He let out a cough.
Seemed he was having stomach problems.
The people of Toad Town wondered what a whale was doing in the middle of the harbor.
It wasn't a usual sight.
"What's wrong?" asked Lincoln.
Maybe there was something they could do about it.
"I think I swallowed something I shouldn't." explained the whale.
"I've done that." nodded the boy.
Of course to Lana, there wasn't really anything you shouldn't swallow.
Good thing Lincoln's sisters knew the Heimlich manuever.
Inside the whale's stomach were viruses.
The familiar red, yellow, and blue variety.
The red Viruses could boost their attack, the yellow their speed, and the blue their defense.
"I guess the whale wasn't kidding when he said he wasn't feeling well." remarked Lincoln.
"You sure we couldn't put medicine in his mouth?" asked Lisa.
"It might not work on whales." pointed out Goombario.
One of them bit Lynn.
"Ouch!" exclaimed the sports player.
Lisa noted that Goombario had a point. Perhaps the medicine wouldn't work on marine mammals.
Besides, for a creature of that size, they would probably need a ton of medicine.
Kooper fired himself towards the Viruses.
Luckily for Lana the Viruses couldn't seem to touch her.
Her immune system was spectacular.
"How are we going to get past her antibodies?" asked a Red Virus.
The Blue Virus that was next to him shrugged.
Lana was a tough nut to crack.
Lily poured orange juice on them.
The Viruses screamed.
Seemed they didn't like oranges.
"Good thinking, Lily! Vitamin C is the viruses' weakness!" remarked Lisa.
"Huh?" asked Lily.
She wasn't sure what that was.
It didn't sound bad for her though.
"Just keep pouring the orange juice on them." explained the girl with the glasses.
Lily nodded.
Eventually, it started getting very dark.
"I can't see anything." remarked Lisa.
"That's what worries me." noted Kooper.
"I scared!" exclaimed Lily.
She held her blanket to make her feel better.
"This place really suits me." noted Lucy.
It looked like this was a job for Watt.
Surely she could light the way.
Which she did.
"This ought to do it!" exclaimed Watt.
"Thanks, I'm not sure what we would have done without you." remarked Bombette.
"Well, maybe now we can find the source of the problem." noted Lincoln.
"I don't want to be here any longer!" exclaimed Lola.
"I wouldn't mind staying here a bit longer." remarked Lana.
Lola rolled her eyes.
Our heroes encountered a Fuzzipede.
"You here to fight me?" asked the Fuzzipede.
"You think it will get you out of the whale's stomach?" asked Lynn. Something told her that was the source of the problem.
"Maybe." answered the centipede.
Our heroes got ready to fight him.
Luckily, he wasn't tough.
They needed to make sure Watt stayed lit up though.
Otherwise they wouldn't so much as be able to see him.
Also, the Fuzzipede could heal himself.
So the fight could take a while.
Luckily, Watt could zap him with electricity.
"Owwww!" exclaimed the Fuzzipede.
In retaliation, he leapt on top of Luan.
"Hey! Knock that out!" demanded Luan.
He then tried to leap on Goombario, but Mario hammered him away.
After the fight, the whale spat out the Fuzzipede through his blow hole.
"Much better." remarked the giant mammal.
"This was a whale of a tale! Get it?" asked Luan.
The whale let out a laugh.
"Huh. He actually finds Luan's sense of humor funny." remarked Lola.
"Thank you! I feel so much better now! Is there any way I can repay you?" asked the whale.
He was sure he could do something.
"Well, we were hoping to get to Lavalava Island." explained Lincoln.
Kammy had decided it was an ideal place to hide the fifth Star Spirit. Given it was across the sea and away from Toad Town, people probably wouldn't approach the shore.
"Isn't that place dangerous? Still, I owe you a huge favor, so I suppose I should help you get there." remarked the marine mammal.
Our heroes were happy to hear that.
Perhaps now they could get their fifth Star Spirit.
"Excuse me, can you give me a hand?" asked a voice.
Kooper turned around, and gasped in shock.
It was none other than Kolorado.
He certainly was happy to see him again.
Kooper recalled seeing him at Dry Dry Desert.
Though at the same time, he wondered why Kolorado wished to go to Lavalava Island.
Was there treasure there too?
As a matter of fact, there was.
Seemed there was a special stone located in the volcano.
Perhaps that was also where the Star Spirit was.
It was reasonable.
Perhaps they should ask the Yoshis about both of those things. They might have some information.
Since it would take some time in order for our heroes to get to Lavalava Island, our heroes wondered what they should do before then.
On the lighter side of things, the whale was spacious enough for all of them.
Some whales could carry elephants on their backs to put in in perspective.
And yes, Lisa had told them that.
She studied marine animals sometimes. It depended on her mood.
Suddenly, Chuck Quizmo showed up.
"Did the whale swallow you too? You seem a bit small to be used for whale bait." noted Lincoln.
"Actually, no. I just figured that you could use some entertainment while you wait for your arrival." remarked Chuck Quizmo.
"That's not a bad idea." nodded Bow. She didn't want to be bored to death…though considering that she was a ghost, perhaps that was impossible.
Although, Chuck Quizmo was aware that Lavalava Island was a scary place. Why exactly were they heading there? He imagined that people would want to stay away from that place.
He could only hope they would be alright.
Thankfully, Lana did not show interest in eating him.
"Question One…name an episode of the Loud House that has been disliked by fans." said Chuck Quizmo.
"We have episodes that have been disliked by fans? I don't believe it!" exclaimed Lola.
She thought all of the episodes were awesome.
Although…she wasn't in all of the episodes. Seems only Lincoln was required for a Loud House episode.
"Well, good shows can have stinkers sometimes. I heard that Spongebob has had episodes like that." remarked Lana. Which was a shame, because she liked Spongebob.
"You like a show about a sponge?" asked Lucy.
"What's unusual about t-oh wait, that's right." remarked the girl with the red hat.
"I think one of the episodes disliked by fans was Brawl in the Family?" asked Luan.
She wondered why they were so violent in that episode. She might have expected that from Lynn, but everyone else?
"Correct. Hopefully you will be a bit less violent next time." remarked Chuck Quizmo.
Especially since they needed to work together to get the three remaining Star Spirits and defeat Bowser.
Luan got a creme pie.
Chuck Quizmo thought of another question.
"What was Tubba Blubba's weakness?" asked the worm.
"Good question." answered Lincoln.
"I believe it was his heart." spoke Lynn.
Chuck Quizmo nodded.
Reuniting him with his heart caused him to lose his invincibility.
As a reward, Lynn got a baseball bat.
"Who was the first Star Spirit to be rescued?" asked Chuck Quizmo.
Kooper buzzed in.
"That was Eldstar." answered the blue-shelled Koopa.
Chuck Quizmo nodded.
He got some shell polish.
Though personally he was hoping for Kolorado's autograph.
That would really make his day.
"Well, it's been fun." remarked the worm.
Chuck Quizmo took his leave…on a rowboat.
For a moment it seemed it was clear sailing.
However, it seemed plausible that Bowser's forces would ambush them on the way to Lavalava Island.
They didn't want them collecting the fifth Star Spirit.
So they needed to stay alert.
Sure enough, they heard bubbling in the water.
"Be careful, I think this is going to be a bumpy ride." noted the whale.
Which was a bit ironic given he was a humpback whale.
Cheep Cheeps showed up.
"Uh-oh!" exclaimed Lincoln.
The Cheep Cheeps blew bubbles at them.
They burst violently.
However, they were vulnerable to Watt.
"Heeehee!" giggled Watt.
"Ouchhh!" exclaimed the Cheep Cheeps.
Maybe they should reconsider fighting people who had a living lightning bolt on their side.
Luan helped with her joy buzzers.
"Aah!" exclaimed one of the Cheep Cheeps.
Luan leveled up.
Hopefully her jokes would become funnier.
Bloopers showed up as well.
Our heroes had to be careful not to be blinked.
Luckily, Lucy was immune.
She had echolocation.
Well, that and she had bangs over her eyes.
One of them slapped Lola in the face.
"Ow! Quit it!" demanded Lola.
Porcupuffers showed up next.
Jumping was a no-go.
But hammering them would work.
Mario decided to do that.
Our heroes arrived on the shoreline.
It looked like they should start searching.
Meanwhile…
Unbeknownst to the Loud children, they weren't the only ones doing some searching.
At the Loud House, Mr. and Mrs. Loud were wondering what was going on. It seemed their kids had vanished off the face of the earth.
"Have you seen our kids?" asked Rita.
"No, I haven't." answered Lynn Sr.
He had checked the entire house for the eleven of them.
While the pets were still there, the same could not be said for the kids. Maybe Charles could sniff out the Loud Kids? Then again, he didn't enjoy smelling Lily's diapers.
They were starting to get worried.
They sure hoped that nothing bad had happened to them.
It would be best if they asked around. See if there were any sign of them.
It wasn't exactly the Loud House if it was quiet inside. Especially with Luna being gone. Hearing her music truly was exhilarating.
Little did they know that they were right under their noses…inside the TV.
Mr. Krouse had not seen them either, unfortunately.
He was wondering why things were so peaceful and quiet.
And yes, he was starting to miss the Loud siblings too. Even if he didn't find Luan's jokes to be funny.
Now that they thought of it, Clyde had gone missing as well.
His two fathers were looking for him. Though considering they were looking for one kid instead of eleven, perhaps they were going to have an easier time.
What was the world coming to?
Hopefully they would be found soon.
Only Lisa knew how to program the VCR.
Meanwhile...
On Lavalava Island, a Cheep Cheep by the name of Sushie was babysitting several Yoshi Kids. They were known as the Fearsome Five. They always seemed to be together for whatever reason.
Each Yoshi Kid was a different color. Nobody quite knew why that was, but it certainly made it easier to tell them apart.
However, these Yoshi kids had a bit of a mischievous streak. They weren't called the Fearsome Five for nothing.
As a side note, it was unusual that a Cheep Cheep was on dry land. It was possible for a Cheep Cheep to survive outside of water though.
The Fearsome Five wanted to visit the local concert.
People said that it was going to be loud...and of course exciting. And the tickets weren't expensive, either. They were looking forward to it.
However, Sushie didn't think that taking them to the concert would be a good idea.
It would be a lot harder to keep an eye on them if they were in the middle of a crowd.
But unfortunately, the Yoshi Kids didn't feel like listening to her.
So they snuck off while she wasn't looking.
"Where did they go?" asked Sushie, scratching her head with her fin.
They had to be around the island somewhere.
She sure hoped that nothing bad had happened to them.
It could be dangerous on Lavalava Island. And their parents were counting on her to keep the kids safe.
Plus, Bowser's minions had been spotted on the island recently.
They weren't a friendly bunch.
Supposedly, they were being led by a crazy, skinny Koopa wearing glasses.
It looked like she was going to have to find them.
At least she had a rough idea as to where they were headed.
However, they may have gone off in five different directions.
Meanwhile, Iggy noticed our heroes had arrived on the island.
He let out a laugh.
Fighting them was going to be fun.
I figured I would include viruses from Dr. Mario since the whale made a Dr. Mario reference in the original.
Besides, I figured it was appropriate since he was sick.
In the next chapter, our heroes are going to search for the Fearsome Five.
It's best if they kept those kids out of trouble.
