In this chapter, our heroes are going to search for the Fearsome Five.

Those five won't stay out of trouble. Their parents must have their hands full with them.

It's up to our heroes to find and rescue them.

It's kind of like the Star Spirits, but they're all in one location, which makes it a lot easier.

But even so, Jade Jungle is a harsh environment.

Our heroes need to watch out for the dangers that live there.

It's not as dangerous as the volcano though, I can say that much. It doesn't have a giant fiery Piranha Plant living there.

Though there are Piranha Plants living in the jungle.

Chapter 36: The Fearsome Five

Shortly after our heroes arrived on the island, they encountered a Cheep Cheep that was in need of their assistance.

"Excuse me, can you help me?" asked Sushie.

She figured Mario was a good person to ask for help, though she wondered who all these people were that were with him.

But she decided not to question that.

There was only one of her and five Yoshi kids she needed to babysit. With Mario and his friends around, the odds would be much better.

"Is that a Cheep Cheep on land?" questioned Lincoln.

He scratched his head. Was he seeing things?

Mario was confused as well.

He hadn't seen a Cheep Cheep on land before, only in water levels. Although, he could breathe underwater sometimes. Was it some sort of Italian magic?

"Yes, we can survive on land." answered the fish. They were amphibious.

Though considering what the Fearsome Five were like, maybe she should have stayed in the water. Things seemed pretty calm there by comparison.

Lisa scratched her head.

Sometimes, video games didn't make any sense.

Although, she had just met a whale that could talk.

So she decided not to question Sushie being on land.

"Can you help me? I'm babysitting five Yoshi kids but they decided to wander off to a concert." explained Sushie.

Perhaps she had chosen to babysit the wrong kids. Or shouldn't have tried babysitting five kids at once.

Lynn was reminded of the time that she babysat those quintuplets.

Luckily, she was a good match for them.

"We'll help you." nodded Lincoln.

They could save finding the Star Spirit for later. Those kids could end up in danger if our heroes did nothing. And Mario certainly didn't want on his conscience. He had a reputation to consider, after all.

So they began searching the jungle.

A signpost read Jade Jungle.

Our heroes could see Mt. Lavalava out in the distance…

…but it might be best if they didn't go there yet.

There was a Bub-Ulb, but in a change of pace, he was still producing a seed.

Up until now, they didn't need to play the waiting game.

So they would want to come back later.

"I had a feeling there was going to be a jungle level in this game." noted Lana.

There didn't seem to be any sign of Donkey Kong though.

Inside the jungle were Putrid Plants.

They were much more dangerous than normal Piranha Plants…and they had toxic breath.

Seemed Bowser was making his forces stronger now that he was running low on Star Spirits.

But as always, Lana was immune to poison.

"Why isn't this working?" asked a Putrid Plant.

He was out of breath, and Lana still wasn't intoxicated.

The tomboy whacked the Putrid Plant with her wrench.

"Ow!" exclaimed the plant. Stars swirled around his head.

Lana was tougher than she looked, it seemed.

Then again, she had helped her brother locate and obtain four of the Star Spirits.

Lynn kicked away another Putrid Plant.

"Man, this fighting is making me feel beat." noted Lynn.

Parakarry nodded in agreement.

Though it could have also been the mail he delivered to the Yoshis.

Luckily, the jungle was full of Heart Plants our heroes could use to heal up.

"This is pretty convenient." remarked Lana.

They had to be careful though, because some of them were Hurt Plants in disguise. And they bit.

"I had a feeling that there was going to be a catch." remarked Lola.

"Ouch! This adversary scared my plants off! Get it?" asked Luan.

The Hurt Plant fell asleep from Luan's bad joke.

She then zapped it with electricity.

The first member of the Fearsome was being poked by a Spear Guy.

Seemed some Shy Guys were native to the jungle. It was a bit curious to see Shy Guys outside of their toy box though.

"Ow! Quit it!" demanded the red Yoshi Kid. Unfortunately, he lacked the defenses an adult Yoshi had, like the ability to toss eggs for example.

Mario hammered the tribal Shy Guy.

He threw a spear at him.

But the red plumber ducked underneath it.

"Darn it, I missed!" exclaimed the jungle Shy Guy.

Maybe he needed to work on his aim a bit more.

Mario hammered him again.

The Spear Guy ran off.

Seemed he didn't like his chances against the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom.

"Thanks." said the red Yoshi.

Perhaps he shouldn't have wandered off.

Maybe he should have listened to Sushie. There were crazy Shy Guys in the jungle…which Mario knew were tougher than the ones in the Shy Guy's Toybox.

Luckily for the Red Yoshi Kid, he had been rescued.

However, it was a bit early for our heroes to celebrate.

There were four Yoshis left to go.

And to make matters worse, the red Yoshi kid wasn't sure where his friends had gone. All he knew was that they too were in the jungle somewhere.

It seemed they had gotten separated…which only made things worse. They definitely would have been safer if they had stayed together.

The second Yoshi (who was green) was being pestered by Jungle Fuzzies.

Our heroes could hear them bouncing around.

They were much tougher than the Forest Fuzzies, though they were still just as mischievous.

The third Yoshi kid (he was blue) was being attacked by a Wiggler.

It was best not to make them mad.

Once again, it seemed the added difficulty was taking effect.

There hadn't been Wigglers in the original Paper Mario.

But even so, our heroes imagined that they could take him.

Lynn kicked a football at him.

"Oww!" exclaimed the Wiggler. who now had a bruise on his face.

This made him turn red with anger.

The Wiggler charged towards Lynn…

…but ended up snagging a tripwire that he hadn't noticed in his blind rage.

An anvil fell on top of him, hitting him directly in the head.

He was knocked out.

"Hahaha!" laughed Luan.

"Good idea, practice your practical jokes on our enemies instead of our siblings." suggested Lucy.

To be honest, sometimes they were scary even for her tastes.

The fourth Yoshi (the purple one) was being attacked by M. Bushes.

Kooper attacked them by rolling into his shell.

"Ouch!" exclaimed the M. Bush.

Perhaps they had picked the wrong person to ambush.

"Phew!" exclaimed the purple Yoshi kid.

"Next time, don't ignore your babysitter." advised Kooper.

The purple Yoshi kid nodded.

He certainly wasn't going to do that again.

No sirree.

The last Yoshi (the yellow one) had been grabbed by a giant Blooper.

"Helpppp!" exclaimed Yellow Yoshi Kid.

"We have to save him!" shouted Lincoln.

Mario hammered the tentacle that had grabbed the yellow Yoshi Kid.

However, the giant Blooper attempted to slam him with his tentacle.

Mario jumped over it.

However, he was then hit with a burst of ink.

"Mamamia!" exclaimed the plumber who dressed in red.

Good thing his washer was working.

He would need to go back to his house first though, and that would take some time.

Luckily, Sushie washed him off.

Perhaps he didn't need to use the washer after all.

Lincoln then punched the giant Blooper in the face.

It attempted to swat him with his tentacle, but he grabbed on.

He then used the tentacle to slap the Blooper in the face.

The giant Blooper decided to swim away.

He felt like he was outmatched.

"Dod we get them all?" asked Parakarry.

"I think so." nodded Kooper.

Watt was very happy.

"I appreciate your help getting those kids back. Would you like to watch a concert?" asked Sushie.

Kolorado was still searching for the treasure.

He figured it was around the island somewhere.

Kooper hoped that he was right. He didn't want his search to be fruitless…just as the Yoshis didn't want to be without fruit.

It was the least she could do after all their help. And it seemed like everyone and their mother were planning to go there. Though in the case of the Yoshi Kids' parents, they had been in Toad Town eating fruit.

Hopefully the Fearsome Five would listen to their babysitter from now on.

After finding all the Yoshi Kids, that seemed like a good way to unwind.

There were a lot of Yoshis at the concert.

But with the Loud siblings working together, the Fearsome Five shouldn't wander off.

Some of the Loud siblings went to get snacks.

"Mmm, buttered popcorn." remarked Lana.

"You sure you don't want to eat from the trash can?" asked Lola.

"There's this man living in there." explained the girl with the wrench.

His name was Rip Cheato.

A Toad introduced the audience to the person who would be singing.

Naturally, he was using a microphone.

"I feel so excited!" exclaimed Watt.

The others could tell by her radiance.

"Introducing, the one and only…Luna Loud!" exclaimed the Toad.

"Did he say Luna?" asked Lincoln.

Luna Loud showed up on stage.

The curtain was purple, which suited her tastes.

The Loud family were surprised at the turn of the events.

Luan Loud in particular had wondered where her roommate was. She had been hoping that she would be with Lincoln. She was happy that her younger sisters were with him though.

A certain Goomba noticed the look of surprise on their faces.

"You know this girl? Oh wait, it's one of your sisters, isn't it?" asked Goombario.

He could tell by the brunette hair.

They never seemed to have to look too hard for them…unlike the Star Spirits.

But on the other hand, Bowser wasn't holding them prisoner.

Lincoln nodded. It was indeed one of his sisters. His third-oldest sister to be exact.

Luna wondered if she should try performing at a less remote location.

Still, the Yoshis seemed happy to watch her play her guitar.

Luna finished her performance, and bowed before them.

"I'm glad you enjoyed the sh-Lincoln? Is that you?" asked Luna.

It seemed she had noticed Lincoln as well.

She stepped down from the stage and went to talk to her brother.

"Nice to see you again, bro! Though I do wonder what you're doing in a remote location." remarked Luna.

"We're looking for Star Spirits so we can save the Mushroom Kingdom and get back home." explained Lincoln.

One of them was located in Mt. Lavalava.

"Star Spirits? Haven't heard of them." remarked Luna.

"They've been captured by Bowser." explained Goombario.

Perhaps Luna could help them get in there…right after she signed a bunch of autographs for her fans.

Since our heroes had helped her, Sushie joined the heroes on their quest.

Considering that Mt. Lavalava most likely contained fire enemies, she just might come in handy.

The Fearsome Five would remember Mario fondly.

Though perhaps it was a bit ironic that Mario rescued them considering that Yoshi once saved Baby Mario from Kamek and his Toadies. He had rescued Baby Luigi as well.

Meanwhile, Iggy Koopa warned Lava Piranha that Mario and Lincoln were coming for his Star Spirit next.

Luckily, his Clown Copter allowed him to get across the lava. Navigating the molten mountain would be a hassle otherwise.

Considering Mario's knack for locating Star Spirits, it seemed best if Lava Piranha was warned in advance.

He could see that the lava was bubbling.

Upon closer inspection, Podoboos were emerging it.

"WHAT? Mario and his friends are here?" asked the fiery giant.

If he had eyes, they would have widened…not that he was incapable of sight.

Iggy nodded.

He already knew their intentions.

And to make matters worse, Lincoln only had two sisters to go.

This one seemed to have a knack for music.

As a side note, it seemed that particular sister had been on the island this whole time.

Though for whatever reason she had decided not to return to civilization. Now might be a good time considering that the Shy Guys had agreed to stop causing trouble.

"I'm not letting them get my Star Spirit! They've gotten enough already if you ask me." noted the giant piranha.

They were about halfway finished with saving the Mushroom Kingdom, so they needed to be stopped quickly. Otherwise they might be able to counter Bowser's Star Rod.

"I'm with you there!" exclaimed Iggy.

Fortunately, he had Petey Piranha on his side.

Petey would come in handy.

He would send Petey to take care of things.

Iggy would like to see our heroes get past him.

Expecially since Mario didn't have the FLUDD with him this time.

Though he wondered why Petey Piranha had decided to leave Isle Delfino.

It seemed like an island paradise, though he had never been there. Bowser Jr. had though.

The court system was flawed, but perhaps the Piantas could fix that.

He could ponder why Petey left Isle Delfino later.

For now, he was going to send him out.

Iggy let out a wicked cackle.

It's ironic that the Fearsome Five are in the fifth chapter of the game, isn't it?

Anyways, the Fearsome Five have been found!

And so has Luna.

However, there's something else our heroes need to find.

That would be the Star Spirit, Misstar.

Perhaps the Yoshis can help them get to Lavalava.
