Chapter 1: Arrival
Outside the Noceda Household, 8 AM
"Ok, all packed and ready to go!" Luz said as she put her backpack on. "All that's left to do is to get over there!"
"Are you sure this'll be alright?" Camilla asked. "I mean, you're flying all the way to the other side of the country!"
"I'll be fine, Bluebert is up to the task!" Luz said as she rubbed her Palismen's head.
"He may be young, but he's pretty powerful all the same. They'll be fine." Eda said with a smile. "Now, don't go causing too much trouble, you hear?"
"No promises!" Luz said as she began to walk outside.
"She got that rebellious spirit from you." Camilla pointed out.
"Guilty as charged!" Eda said with a laugh. "But hey, being a little rebellious isn't a bad thing, is it?"
"I guess not… as long as she doesn't start committing crimes…" Camilla said, giving Eda a glare.
"I'll make sure to lecture her on the importance of following the law… in the human realm." Eda said.
"Good enough."
"Ready to go?" Luz asked Amity, who had been waiting outside.
"Yeah! We'll probably have to stop a couple of times to rest… got some invisibility glyphs ready?" Amity asked.
"Oh yeah! All we gotta do is use the staves to activate them, and we will be good to land without being seen!" Luz said. "Good thing glyphs work with staves…"
"Right, and you said that we should arrive in this… California, tonight, right?" Amity asked.
"Yeah, flying is a lot quicker than driving, but we aren't really going as fast as a plane so… it should take us about twelve hours of flying." Luz said. "If you want, we can stop somewhere for the night and rest, I'm sure Anne would understand!"
"No, let's try to get there tonight." Amity said. "I'm sure we'll be fine."
"Alright, if you say so." Luz said as she hopped onto Bluebert.
"See you guys in a week!" Amity said as she waved to Edric and Emira, who had come to see her off.
"Try not to have too much fun Mittens!" Edric teased.
Luz and Amity both gave him a deadpanned look.
"Really?" Luz asked.
"Don't tease them! Besides, it's not like they'll be alone that whole time!" Emira pointed out.
Camilla though, became worried. "Are you two sure you don't want an adult with you?"
"Nah, we'll be fine. Anne's parents were nice enough to set aside a room for us, and I'd hate to give them more work." Amity pointed out.
"Alright…"
"We'll call you if anything happens! See you!" Luz said before taking off.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Amity called out, before taking off herself.
Nearly twelve hours later, Boonchuy residence
Anne decided to spend the next day resting as she awaited Luz and Amity's arrival.
"So your friends should be here tonight?" Anne's mom asked.
"Yeah, they said they're going to be flying here, and should be coming in tonight." Anne explained.
"Oh, should we go and pick them up from the airport?" Anne's dad asked.
"Nah, she said they weren't taking a plane… no idea what they would be flying on though…" Anne said.
"Uh… huh… and you're sure they'll be able to help get a portal working?" Anne's mom asked.
"Oh yeah. Luz was stuck in a magical world, and apparently Amity lived there her entire life! If anyone could figure out a way to get the Plantars home, it's them!" Anne said, very sure of herself.
Truth be told, at first, she had planned on getting Luz's help in fighting off the impending invasion. However, after thinking it over, she decided that getting back to Amphibia would be another task that the Witch-In-Training could help them with. It was something that they would have to address eventually, with or without the music box.
And besides, chances were that Andrias wouldn't take Marcy with him for the invasion… and Anne needed to rescue her!
Oh, and Sasha too.
Also she wanted to be able to visit whenever.
And again, getting the Plantars home.
"Ok, if you say so." Anne's mom said. "The guest room is ready for them, so just lead them there when they get here."
"Of course!"
And with that, her parents left the room.
"So, how long did they say they would be?" Sprig asked.
"Yeah! I'm tired of waiting!" Polly shouted.
"Now kids, be patient… though yeah, would be nice to know." Hop Pop added.
"Let's see, Luz said when she called earlier that she would be another… almost four hours." Anne said, before looking at the clock. "Sooooo… they should be here any minute now!"
"WHOO! Can't wait to learn how to slay my enemies with MAGIC!" Polly said with a very menacing look in her eyes. "Hey, maybe she could make magic versions of those bombs you were telling me about!"
"That… actually… maybe we should ask her." Anne said. "Maybe it'll help!"
"WHOO!"
"Hey Anne? Did you finish fixing that robot already?" They heard Anne's dad call up to her.
"Uh…" Anne said as she looked to Frobo…
Who was still just a head.
"No? Why?"
"That's weird, cause it looks like it's in the back yard!"
"…What?"
Looking out the window, they saw…
"Oh no…"
It was the robot from the other day, and it looked ready to destroy the house.
"I'll stop it!" Sprig shouted as he leapt out the window and onto the robot.
Anne and the others quickly made their way downstairs to help, to see her parents watching in shock.
"What is going on?!"
"Uh… I… uh…"
"We'll have to tell them later!" Hop Pop tried to reason.
"R-right!" Anne said. "Ok… think… how did I get the blue thing to work last time…"
"Blue thing?" Her dad asked.
"Uh…"
She did not feel confident enough to fight this robot off without a weapon, or her blue powers, but she didn't want to have to explain the powers… or have her parents freak out about her having a sword.
"AAAAH!" Sprig shouted as he was was flung off of the machine.
"Sprig!"
The robot then began charging a laser.
And they were all prepared for the worst…
Until a slip of paper landed on it's laser cannon…
Which then burst into flames, causing the robot to crash into the ground, before exploding, creating a massive hole in the back yard.
"AH! THE BACK YARD!" Anne's father shouted.
Anne though, was looking straight at their savior.
"So uh… I guess there's a bit more going on than our sleepover, huh?" Luz said as she floated down on her staff.
"Yeah… sorry about not telling you." Anne said.
"Kinda wish you did! Could of had Eda come and help!" Luz said. "Oh well, we'll have to make due for now."
When Luz touched down, Anne quickly pulled her in for a hug.
"We have a LOT to talk about!"
"Yeah, I'll say."
Anne turned around to see her parents glaring at her.
"You have a lot of explaining to do young lady!"
Anne inhaled sharply.
"Right… where do I begin…"
After some brief introductions were done, Anne was standing in front of a white board.
"Gotta say girl! Loving your hair!" Polly said as she sat next to Amity.
"Oh! Uh, thanks?"
She was still a bit weirded out by the giant talking frogs.
"So, as the Plantars told Mom and Dad before, we got sucked into a portal that sent us back here." Anne said as she pointed to the drawing of the music box. "This was caused by this music box, which is apparently SUPER powerful!"
"It has to be if it could pierce the dimensional barrier… It may be as powerful, if not more powerful than Titan's Blood…" Amity hypothesized.
"Uh…"
"It's this blue goop that we used to make my portal back home." Luz explained. "Really strong stuff!"
"Anyways, what we didn't tell you guys though, is the circumstances behind that…" Anne said. "We were… kinda in a hurry."
Anne's VERY sad face told Luz something very bad happened.
"Hey, if you don't want to talk about it…"
"No… I'm going to have to say this…" Anne said before taking a deep breath. "King Andrias, who was helping us get the box working again… betrayed us… he just wanted the box's power so that he could invade other worlds. That robot that Luz destroyed was one of his."
"Oh… that sounds bad…" Luz said. "I guess he still has this box?"
"Yeah… Marcy had the idea of trying to take it… open a portal with it so we could escape… and we almost did…" Anne said. "But…"
At that, she began crying.
"She didn't make it…"
Her parents exchanged a worried look.
"By that… you mean…?" Luz asked.
"She…"
"She got impaled by a flaming sword." Polly said bluntly.
Everyone just looked at the pollywog in shock.
"What? I thought I would just make it easier for her!" Polly reasoned. "We were going to tell them about that, right?"
"I… I…" Anne said.
Luz noticed Anne beginning to shake, and decided to get off the topic of Marcy's impalement.
"So…?"
"She's alive… don't ask me how, but I just know it." Anne said.
Luz… was surprised that she was able to say that much.
"What about Sasha?" Her Mother asked.
"I… don't know…" Anne said. "She was helping us fight, and was trying to keep him busy while we escaped… but I don't know if she got away herself."
The group saw just how upset Anne was at the lack of information.
So, Hop Pop spoke up.
"Sasha was with that toad Grime, remember? He's a tough looking one… if anything, I trust that he got her out of there."
"Yeah, you're probably right." Anne said. "So… in addition to getting the Plantars home, we have to find a way to fight off the invasion, rescue Sasha and Marcy, and beat Andrias to the point where he can't invade us again! No problem!"
"Uh… that sounds like a lot…" Luz pointed out.
"Yeah, but now you're here!" Anne pointed out. "… You will help us… right?"
"Of course! Like I am gonna let some oversized lizard invade our planet!" Luz said.
"That's all well and good, but what about that blue thing?" Her dad asked.
"Well…"
"She has superpowers now." Polly, once again, said bluntly.
"Stop doing that!" Anne shouted.
"Wait… what?"
"Just before we left, my hair turned blue, and I got super strong." Anne explained.
"Oh cool! That's like those guys in Dragon Claw Z!" Luz said. "I love that movie!"
"Oh my gosh! Me too!" Anne said. "I saw it with Marcy a while back!"
At mentioning Marcy's name again, Anne began feeling down.
And Luz noticed this.
"Well then, we better rest up! I'll call my Mom in the morning to get her caught up, and maybe see about getting Eda to come help." Luz declared.
"Uh…" Polly said as she pointed up, revealing that Amity was already out cold.
Luz just smiled. "She did seem to be getting really tired from the trip…"
She then walked over and scooped her girlfriend into her arms.
"Mmmm… sports…" Amity drowsily mumbled out.
"Need a hand?"
"Nah, I got her… though it would be nice to know where to put her." Luz said.
"Right… this way." Anne said as she led Luz upstairs.
When Amity was put to bed, though Luz was a bit… on edge about them sharing a bed, she followed Anne out of the room.
"Hey… let's have a girls day out tomorrow, have a talk about all this, ok?" Luz asked.
"Oh, uh… sure." Anne said before walking away. "Hey Luz?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm really happy you agreed to help us… I'm not sure I could handle all this by myself." Anne admitted.
Luz smiled. "From what I can tell, you were never alone."
She then looked down the hall to see the Plantars approaching.
Anne smiled at this.
"As someone who was in a similar situation, found family and everything, I can tell you that they'd stick with you no matter what." Luz said.
"Right… thanks Luz."
"Good night Anne!" Luz said before retiring for the night.
"… Good night Luz."
A couple of hours later, Anne was still awake. Looking around her room, she saw the Plantars all strewn around an inflatable mattress. As soon as their bodies hit it, they were out cold. She imagined it was a very different, yet comfortable, experience for all of them. She then looked to her dresser to see a photo.
A photo of her, Marcy, and Sasha.
It was a very different photo of the three than the one she took with her to Amphibia. This one had her arm wrapped around a shy Marcy, while Sasha was standing behind them in the middle, her hands giving V signs.
This wasn't the first time she was staring at this photo this late.
So, she grabbed the photo, and snuck outside. When she reached her back yard, she just sat down against the wall, and began sobbing.
End of Chapter 1
So, let's talk about a lot of stuff from The Owl house that is in this universe. The future of that series is a LOT more uncertain after all!
Well, as I mentioned, this is a sequel to a couple of other stories I have worked on for the series. In short, it is taking place in a timeline where everything worked out in the end. The Emperor is beat, everyone is safe and happy, and Luz has a way to go to and from the Boiling Isles with no issues! Also, she is good with a staff and has a Palismen of her own. A bit more than that is important, but we'll go into that later.
Speaking of Luz's Palismen, let's talk about that now. For the sake of this story, I decided to make it a Bluejay. This is to be kind of a counter to Hunter's Cardinal. Red and Blue birds. As for the name Bluebert… I am not THAT creative. I saw Owlbert, and replaced Owl with Blue. At first, I was actually thinking of excluding it completely. We don't know what her Palismen is going to be yet, and I like to at least try to be canon compliant with my stories, so finding a way to exclude the Palismen for a while, at least until we get introduced to it in the actual show, I felt was necessary. In the end though, I decided to come up with a neat theory. This AU already has a lot of guessing and original stuff in it, so I figured it wouldn't hurt.
Going back to this story being a sequel though, don't worry, you don't have to read the other stories. Though they are short. I am working hard to make sure that events of those stories are completely disconnected from this story. The only thing that will come up is the concept of Pseudo Blood, but that will be explained in this story, so don't worry about it.
Anyways, see you next time for some Anne and Luz bonding!
